This is my second Maybelline blogpost for this week. This one is about more new products to their range, the Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid Lipsticks.
Like the new Color Show Crayon Kohl Liners (which you can see up close in my previous post here), the Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid Lipsticks are not listed on the Boots website yet 🙁 Maybelline have 10 shades listed on their website My Local Boots only have 7 shades on display, there was a good colour spectrum going from nude , to bright pink, orange, red and plum.
I picked up two to give a whirl.
05 Nude Flush is the perfect blush toned pink colour.
45 Possessed Plum is on the other end of the colour spectrum and is a deep berry purple shade.
Both of the shades apply really easily to the lips. Nude Flush is definitely more opaque and doesn’t take as much layering up. It’s also more matte in finish. Here are both of them swatched side by side on my arm.
The Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid Lipsticks are a bit confusing for me. When I first picked them up, I expected them to be kind of like the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipsticks which I absolutely adore! They have a similar consistency when you first apply them to the lips although the formula is a bit thicker in my opinion. However, they don’t dry down. As you can probably see from the swatches. This means they’re not really matte and they do transfer and they do move on the lips. I left the swatches of them on my arm for a good ten minutes and then wiped over them with tissue. There’s not much left of them in the aftermath.
The Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid Lipsticks have a really strong sweet scent to them which I actually like, but then if you eat or drink while you have them on, you can actually taste the scent which I don’t like at all. Remember the perfume you used to get with Barbie back in the day? The taste of them totally reminds me of that 🙂
Overall, I really like the colour and the colour pay off of the Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid Lipsticks that I picked up and I will use them, but the lack of longevity and the strong taste off them would probably put me off buying any more.
They cost €9.99 in Boots and are buy one get one half price at the minute.
