I always say, don’t judge me for calling this a ‘makeup tutorial’, so I just want to begin with that statement, because I am well aware of my lack of major skills in the makeup department. It’s just a blanket statement and we understand what it means πŸ™‚ Ok now that’s out of the way….

makeup tutorial new in products

It’s been a minute since I sat down in front of the camera and just did a face. So I wanted to do just that. I have been lucky enough to receive some products from PR over the last couple of weeks that are really decent too. So how did I incorporate them? By doing a ‘makeup tutorial’ with some new in products, genius.beauty blog ireland

For the most part I used new products, I did have to throw in some oldies too, just because I didn’t have a full face of makeup to use. I’m not that popular πŸ™‚ The new products are mostly from Catrice and Essence, as their new Spring\Summer ranges have just launched. There is loads more products to check out from the brands, I just have a cross section.

I also had some newbies from L’OrΓ©al, including the Infallible Fresh Wear Foundation, which I am currently obsessed with, no lie! And the Maybelline Made For All Lippies. Oh and the new skinny brow pencil from IT Cosmetics.

For me, the star of the show is the Topshop Chameleon Eyeshadow in Evolve. This kind of defeats the purpose of the makeup tutorial because it’s not new. But they have reinvented their beauty range, so I’m using that as my excuse. I need to get my hands on more colours of these shadows.

I am no makeup artist, so the makeup definitely didn’t go to plan. There was a few hiccups along the way, and my winged liner left a lot to be desired. But we got there and I was fairly happy with the finished result.

Yep, we’re over half way through the year, no need to panic, although I am kind of! Another month down means a monthly favourites round up. So here is my July favourites in all of their glory πŸ™‚

irish beauty blog

My July favourites for 2018 consist of a good mix of products and rambles, if I do say so myself.

irish beauty blogger

For some reason, when it comes to these roundups, I always end up talking a lot of beauty nonsense, so I apologise in advance πŸ™‚

top irish beauty blog

As always I’ll try link everything I talk about so you can have a gander if you so choose. Please do check out the video above or here though. I go into more detail and hopefully explain in not too many rambles why everything individually made it into my July favourites.

Missoma initial hammered disc and small bobble necklace. It’s free to get them engraved.

My little star huggie earrings are from Betty & Biddy and the second pair is from Ali Express.

LancΓ΄me Le Vie Le Belle Eclat. I’ve linked the Eau de Parfum, it’s always a much better investment I think. I got sent the Eau de Toilette and it’s still really nice though. As I mention, I am loving layering with other more deeper scents to ‘Summer’ them up a bit πŸ™‚

July Favourites

Super Facialist Rose Hydrate Miracle Makeover Facial Oil is the next product in my July favourites. You can have a closer look at this here.

July Favourites

An oldie, but a rejuvenated goodie is my second last favourite, the Maybelline The Eraser Eye in Ivory. They have released more shades in the range now which is brilliant. It is good to note though the shade Ivory is the lightest. Perfect for my skin, but definitely swatch is you’re lighter than me.

My last fave for July is the Pixi Glow-y Gossamar Duo in Subtle Sunrise. I have not shut up about this, I am so sorry πŸ™‚

And that’s it. Let me know what you’ve been loving. Thanks as always and hope you have an awesome August.

This is my honest everyday Summer Makeup look! I tried to keep it as real as possible and just edited out my ‘ums’ and any long winded techniques. My brows take forever πŸ™‚

everyday summer makeup lookeveryday summer makeup look

It’s nothing fancy or ground breaking, but this is generally what I do on a daily basis if I’m wearing makeup. The eye look might change a bit if I’m feeling fancier or lazier. The lip colour might change if I’m feeling a bold or bright lip, but the base tends to not really. I’ve found what works for my skin in the heat, so I don’t want to jinx it too much if I’m going out and about. If I know I’m staying close to home, then I can experiment and trial new products πŸ™‚

irish beauty blog

It all depends on what you feel most comfortable with. For me, brows and a bit of eyeshadow definition is a must. Eyeliner is not necessary so it’s not something I do day to day. Once I have a wash of colour on my lids I am happy enough. The main components of my everyday Summer makeup look, I’ve spoken about a lot before. I think this is an important aspect of this video though. You know I like these products and above all, you know I trust them.irish beauty blogger

I won’t get into everything, but some of the main products I used are in my June Favourites here. I have a review the Urban Decay Primer here, and of both the foundations I used here and here. Mac Springsheen blush has been a favourite for literally years and the highlighter from Pixi is a new, but very loved favourite.top irish beauty blog

And that is my ‘errand running’ everyday Summer makeup. If you watched the video, you’ll get the joke πŸ™‚

Thanks for tuning it. Tell me, what are some of your Summer makeup essentials?

I am going to sound totes dramatic, but hear me out. This 90’s Grunge Inspired Makeup Look was totes out of my comfort zone. Well not totes, but a little bit. It wasn’t the makeup itself that pushed me necessarily. It was the thoughts of a makeup theme that did. It’s kind of new to me.

90's Grunge Inspired Makeup Look

As I like to reiterate all of the time, I am not a makeup artist. I just tend to stick to things I know that work for me. But I thought sure why wouldn’t this work for me? Matte brown smokey eyes, lashings of black kohl liner and a matte brown lip, I can do that! And sure I did!

90's Grunge Inspired Makeup Look

It’s not perfect but thats the beauty of a 90’s grunge inspired makeup look. It doesn’t have to be. This weirdly represented something for me. A lot of makeup artists (or people in general), give beauty bloggers a hard time because they’re not technical enough. But if you’re just showcasing makeup on your face and talking pragmatically about products, I don’t really see it as any different as being a film or a food reviewer ? Makeup is subjective and we all do it differently and want to achieve different results. Anyways, I guess this convo is subjective too, so I’ll stop there πŸ™‚

Here I am channelling my 90’s grunge chick. It was actually super simple as you will see in the video above or you can watch it directly here.

irish beauty blog

The main elements were Makeup Geek’s Tiki Hut eyeshadow. Urban Decay’s 1993 lip liner. I thought that was totally appropriate to use. And the Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink which is you can see swatched here.

Let me know what you think of my 90’s grunge inspired makeup look. Are you embracing the 90’s revival or should it be left in the past where it belongs? πŸ™‚

Maybelline Master Chrome Metallic Highlighter

I have been waiting with baited breath for the Maybelline Master Chrome Metallic Highlighter to launch here. I was just perusing the shelves in Boots (as you do), and happened across one of them! I haven’t seen any media or press releases about them as of yet, but we can now get our makeup loving mitts on them!

Maybelline Master Chrome Metallic Highlighter

Only catch is there seems to be only one of the shade available of the Maybelline Master Chrome Metallic Highlighter. And then there’s one shade of the Master Holographic Prismatic one. Now that could have just been the Boots I was in, (Jervis Street). However, they don’t seem to be on the Boots website yet either.

Anyways, I picked up the two shades that were there. Damn 3 for 2 drew me in big time. I got their setting spray to try as well. I don’t have them that long, but I thought I could at least show you what they were like in action, just in case you’ve been chomping at the bit ever since seeing Desi & Katy rocking them!

irish beauty blog

The Master Chrome Metallic Highlighter is in the shade Molten Gold.

Off the bat, I can say this is the nicest formula of the two. The shade is probably a couple of shades too dark for me. It remind me a lot of Becca’s Champagne Pop. I love Champagne Pop, but I am just too damn pale to pull it off most of the time.

Molten Gold is super soft and really easy to blend. It’s a really great, more affordable highlighter.

irish beauty sitetop irish beauty blogtop irish beauty site

It is actually available online from Feel Unique here on sale. I paid €11.99 for it in Boots.

Just like the Chrome’s, there is other shades of the Holographic Prismatic formulas, we just don’t seem to be getting them here.

These have a more gritty formula. This shade 50 Opal is obviously lighter in colour, but it has little holographic glitters running through it.

Here they are side by side for comparison:

For me, Opal performed much better when applied to the skin with a brush. The holographic glitters give a duo chrome sheen, although the glitter is very visible on the skin . That is definitely something to note.

This, like Molten Gold, was €11.99 from Boots but again Feel Unique currently have it on sale if it wets your whistle πŸ™‚

I really hope we get more shades of the Maybelline Master Chrome Metallic Highlighter on this side of the world. They are a really lovely more affordable highlighter. The Holographic ones definitely won’t be for everyone. What do you think?

Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink Un-NudesThis isn’t really a review, it’s more a swatch and tell. I do this a lot when I get things through the door and can’t wait to get stuck in a show you a product. These are the new-ish Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink Un-Nudes liquid lipsticks.

Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink Un-Nudes

Now don’t despair if you clicked for a full review. I have you covered as I already did a postΒ here when the Matte Ink range were initially released. Spoiler alert, I am a fan of this formula. I will say it can vary a little from colour to colour though. Also, I am not really going through a bright or a matte lip phase. But when I am, these are front and centre, ready to go.

I have five shades to show you of the Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink Un-Nudes liquid lipsticks. I believe there’s ten shades in total in the collection looking at the Maybelline website. We seem to have gotten the most wearable shades available to us here in Ireland. They are called Un-Nude because Maybelline said they are more ‘unconventional neutral shades’.

First up we have ‘Driver’, this is the lightest of the bunch. It’s a nude brown.

Second is ‘Poet’. It’s a more peachy nude.

Third up is ‘Seductress’. This is a cool toned mauve-y nude shade.

Fourth is ‘Amazonian’. This is a deeper terracotta brown.

Then finally number five. This is called ‘Ruler’ and it’s definitely not nude. I would describe it as a berry toned mauve.

Overall, I think there’s some interesting shades to choose from in the Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink Un-Nudes Collection. I think my favourites are going to be, actually the last three Seductress, Amazonian and Ruler. They suit my colouring and my makeup taste best.

Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink Un-Nudes

They are available now in store from Boots and Superdrug. We can also buy them from Feel Unique. They have a couple of other shades from the collection which we can’t get in store here. Are you interested?
