I definitely didn’t do any favourites for the month of September. I was too busy sunning myself on holiday and completely forgot. So we’ll scrap that month and just go into October favourites here on Beautynook. Hope you don’t mind πŸ™‚

My October faves are all beauty related and 100% reflect the changing of the seasons. They are definitely skincare heavy with a touch of hair care and makeup talk thrown in for good measure.

As always, here on Beautynook, I’ll list all the products and link what I can. Just in case anything takes your fancy and you want to explore it more. I use my favourites to just have a casual chat about what I’ve been enjoying. I don’t go too deep into reviewing. Sure it’s just a bit of fun πŸ™‚

First up is the Alfaparf Semi Di Lino Diamond Crystalli Liquidi. That I definitely wasn’t able to pronounce in the video. I referred to it as hair oil. It is lovely though.

I’ve been testing out more than just two products from the Alex Steinherr X Primark range. But these are the two that have been standing out for me and I’ve been using religiously since picking up.

I have been obsessed with the Ella & Jo 3 in 1 Hyaluronic Skin Mist since getting it too. The ladies behind the brand are going from strength to strength and sure jaysis, aren’t they Irish? πŸ™‚ It’s such a lovely product.

I picked up the Palmer’s Coconut Body Oil completely on a whim. I wanted something extra hydrating and it was on special. What more can a girl ask for? I’ve been thoroughly enjoying it too.

Lastly, I chat about the JCat Extreme Access Pocket Eyeshadow in Walk Of Stardom. This little €9.95 beauty caught me completely off guard and I totally need the whole collection now.

I jumped in at the deep end with the new Benefit The Porefessional Pore Minimizing Makeup.

beauty blogger irelandThis very cute package arrived the other day from Benefit with all four products from the range.

Benefit The Porefessional Pore Minimizing Makeup

I thought I would do a complete first impressions video using everything including the new Benefit The Porefessional Pore Minimizing Makeup.

Benefit The Porefessional Pore Minimizing Makeup

I’ve used the Benefit The Porefessional Primer many times before over the years and do really like it. So, my first impressions are of the other three products that are newer in the range. The Matte Rescue, Agent Zero Shine and the Pore Minimizing Makeup that was the whole point of the press release πŸ™‚

Obviously you don’t have to buy all four products, they are pretty pricey! But if you do, I go through and use all four step by step. And also, I don’t read the instructions on the makeup and do a really bad blogger job of showing it in action πŸ™‚ I think I make a pretty decent comeback in the end though so don’t judge me on that, k?

Here’s a before and after of the first three products minus powder and obviously eyes and brows done aswell.

Then here is my skin with all four products applied with the added makeup accoutrements πŸ™‚

If you click on the video either above or directly on my YouTube channel here, you can see them all in action one by one, my first impressions and how my makeup fared throughout the day. I do a check in after wearing them for about six hours.

The whole Benefit The Porefessional range is available from Benefit retailers nationwide with the Pore Minimizing Makeup coming this month. You can have a closer look at the products on the Boots website here. Anything take your fancy?

I’m doing a post on these kind of begrudgingly because there are three shades of the Barry M Matte Me Up Lip Kits. But I, like a bad blogger only have two. They were all sold out in the Boots stores I went too, please forgive me πŸ™‚

The shade Runway (that I don’t have) is on the Boots website here. It’s seems to be a coral red shade.

I bought the Barry M Matte Me Up Lip Kits, if I am being honest, just to see what they were like. My love affair with liquid lipsticks is slowly diminishing. Don’t get me wrong, I have a couple of faves that I still use. But, the dry lip scenario usually gets the better of me and I end up reaching for a lipstick instead. I always have a plethora of lip choices on the go with me. I am fickle πŸ™‚

Obviously these are quite similar to the Kylie Jenner lip kits. I am sure there is no coincidence there. So onto the swatching. I have the shades Pose and Go To. They come boxed up. There is a liquid lipstick and lip liner in each box.

First up we have the shade Pose.

I have them swatched on my arm:

And then here they are on my lips. The lip liner on it’s own and the topped with the liquid lipstick:

The next shade is Go To.

I actually thought from the box packaging on this that it was going to be much lighter than Pose. Turns out Pose is definitely the lighter colour of the two nude shades.

I could take a photo of the actual liquid lipstick opened next to the pencil. It is really liquid-y, so it kept spilling out!

Here is the pencil swatched on my arm:

Finally, the two products in action on the lips:

The formula of the lip liners is really nice. They are soft and apply easily and opaquely. The liquid lipsticks are the same. Of course if you don’t like the dry texture of liquid lippies, you will not enjoy these!

For me, personally I like the pencil in the Pose kit, the colour of the lipstick is not flattering on me whatsoever though. Go To is more up my alley. I am in love with the pencil as well as the shade of the liquid lipstick. Even though the formula is a little more loose, it applied the same to the lips. They both dried really quickly and one layer applied an even, opaque coat of colour.

All three of the Barry M Matte Me Up Lip Kits are priced at €9. You can get them from Boots and Superdrug and I believe they are limited edition. You can buy Pose online from Boots here and Go To here.

What do you think?

Through the years of wearing makeup and then becoming a bit of a makeup fiend, I’ve realised just how beneficial eyeshadow primer really is. I haven’t strayed very far from the cult classic Urban Decay Primer Potion. I’ve bought a lot of their palettes. And with alot of the palettes you get a sample of the primer potion. It works well for me so I never really felt the need to try something else. However, I received a few pretty decent samples of theBalm Put A Lid On It Eyelid Primer in a goody bag a while back and I must say, tentatively… I think I prefer it πŸ™‚

theBalm Put A Lid On It

I’ve been using theBalm Put A Lid On It for a good 3 months now, so I think I’ve given it a fair trial.
theBalm Ireland I have two 3.7 ml sample sizes and I am still on the first on! When it comes to eyeshadow primer, like your face primer, less it more. You only need a very small layer of it under your eye makeup to do its magic. I sometimes use it under my eyes too to help my concealer sit a bit better too!

theBalm Put A Lid On It

theBalm Put A Lid On It comes out of the tube in a skin colour, but when you blend it across your eye lid, it is pretty much undetectable.

It has a really light texture and smooths over any imperfections you might have. It dries down really quickly too and makes it very easy to apply creams or powders over top.

Of course, the main job of a eyeshadow primer is to make your eye makeup last and theBalm Put A Lid On It does a really good job at that. I have oily lids so I think I am a pretty good judge because without a primer, within a couple of hours I get creasing on my eye lids.

If you are looking for a primer that makes you shadows more vibrant, this probably isn’t for you. There are others on the market for that. But, if you are looking for one that smooths out your eyelids, is not sticky or tacky and makes your shadows last for the whole day, I wholeheartedly recommend this. As much as I like the Urban Decay Primer Potion, it can be a bit drying on the lids, whereas theBalm Put A Lid On It is a bit more fluid in texture and is easier to blend.

A 11.8 ml tube of theBalm Put A Lid On It will set you back €20 from Cloud 10 Beauty here.

Do you use eye shadow primer?

This is my second Maybelline blogpost for this week. This one is about more new products to their range, the Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid Lipsticks.

Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid LipsticksMaybelline Vivid Matte Liquid Lipsticks

Like the new Color Show Crayon Kohl Liners (which you can see up close in my previous post here), the Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid Lipsticks are not listed on the Boots website yet πŸ™ Maybelline have 10 shades listed on their website My LocalΒ  Boots only have 7 shades on display, there was a good colour spectrum going from nude , to bright pink, orange, red and plum.

I picked up two to give a whirl.

irish beauty blog

05 Nude Flush is the perfect blush toned pink colour.

45 Possessed Plum is on the other end of the colour spectrum and is a deep berry purple shade.

Both of the shades apply really easily to the lips. Nude Flush is definitely more opaque and doesn’t take as much layering up. It’s also more matte in finish. Here are both of them swatched side by side on my arm.

top irish beauty website

The Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid Lipsticks are a bit confusing for me. When I first picked them up, I expected them to be kind of like the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipsticks which I absolutely adore! They have a similar consistency when you first apply them to the lips although the formula is a bit thicker in my opinion. However, they don’t dry down. As you can probably see from the swatches. This means they’re not really matte and they do transfer and they do move on the lips. I left the swatches of them on my arm for a good ten minutes and then wiped over them with tissue. There’s not much left of them in the aftermath.

irish beauty blog

The Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid Lipsticks have a really strong sweet scent to them which I actually like, but then if you eat or drink while you have them on, you can actually taste the scent which I don’t like at all. Remember the perfume you used to get with Barbie back in the day? The taste of them totally reminds me of that πŸ™‚

Overall, I really like the colour and the colour pay off of the Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid Lipsticks that I picked up and I will use them, but the lack of longevity and the strong taste off them would probably put me off buying any more.

They cost €9.99 in Boots and are buy one get one half price at the minute.

These are the new Maybelline Color Show Crayon Kohl Liners.

Maybelline Color Show Crayon Kohl Liners

Looking online, the Maybelline Color Show Crayon Kohl Liners come in 9 colours, Maybelline have them all on their American website here. And as usual they seem to be slightly different to what we have gotten in Ireland, this always confuses me, but sure look πŸ™‚ They don’t seem to be on the Boots website as of yet though and I could only find 6 different colours in my local Boots. At the minute they are doing buy one Maybelline product get another half price which is nice too. That means there will another new Maybelline product post this week, so keep an eye out πŸ™‚

I have 5 of the new Maybelline Color Show Crayon Kohl Liners to show you today. According to Maybelline they ‘Color Show Kohl Liner is the hottest new way to create statement eyes. The brightest colors. The easiest glide. Creamy, rich color has never been this precise’.

The shade 520 is a light sea foam colour. If you follow me on social media, you know I have been loving putting this in my waterline for a bit of a pop at the minute.

There was also a matte black on the stand too, which I didn’t pick up.

In my opinion the Maybelline Color Show Crayon Kohl Liners are super creamy and really pigmented. They are really blendable and apply smoothly and easily onto the skin and even onto the waterline.

irish beauty blog

The color range is pretty, particularly 520 which is probably my favourite πŸ™‚

I did swatch them all together on my arm and then after taking photos and giving them time to set, I wiped across them.

irish beauty websitestop irish bloggers

As you can see they all smudged so they definitely don’t set. I have used a couple of them on my water line and they do last pretty well considering. For me, using them on my lash line would mean setting them with a powder I think though.

I can’t link them yet unfortunately, but I picked them up in my local Boots and they cost €4.49 each but I did get them on the buy on get one half price deal.

Do the Maybelline Color Show Crayon Kohl Liners float your boat? Let me know πŸ™‚
