We made it halfway through 2017! How did that even happen!! The start of a new month means I have to look back and catalogue some of my most used products. Yes, it’s time for my May favourites 🙂
I decided to rock a red lip for this video! Thought I was only brilliant, until I started to edit the footage and realised it was smudged for most of it! Epic, lipstick fail. Just pretend you can’t see it, OK?
My May Favourites don’t consist of many things, but I think the choices are mighty 🙂
We have the Penneys PS Pure Glow Highlighter Powder Palette. I have a full review of this here, so I won’t ramble on about it too much.
My Asos earrings that I forgot to put in the picture above so here’s a very candid back lit one of me wearing them!
And then the last of my May favourites came in the shape of some rose gold Nike Cortez and fish net ankle socks. Not for everyone, but I am digging the trend.
As always you can watch me waffle on more about my May favourites by just clicking the video at the top of this post, or directly on my YouTube channel here.
Happy June! Hope you have the loveliest month. I have lots to look forward to, so I’m very excited for the next few weeks 🙂
I’ve seen this comparison being made a few times online, so I had to investigate it myself! Today I am comparing (and contrasting) the cult beauty product that is the YSL Touche Eclat to the purse friendly W7 Light Diffusing Concealer.
I will say, when it comes to the word ‘dupe’, I am very reluctant to ever use it, and in this comparison it will not be muttered again, because in my humble opinion, these products are not the same!
Just in case, you haven’t encountered either of these products throughout your makeup journey yet, I’ll give you a quick synopsis of both.
We’ll start by talking about the YSL Touche Eclat. It comes in encased it the well known sleek metal plated gold packaging.
Mine says ‘no need to sleep’ on it. They brought out some slogan collectors edition ones not too long ago. They’ve also since released colour correction variations of the YSL Touche Eclat. What I have here is just the original highlighter in number 1.
You click the top to release the product into the brush.
The YSL Touche Eclat is a skin highlighter. It’s not a concealer, although I know alot of people use it for this purpose, as it does have some coverage to it. It does have a salmon hue to it aswell so can work to help brighten under the eyes. It has a creamy really blend-able texture. For me and my skin tone, it doesn’t do much highlighting unfortunately, I can get away with it a little under my eyes. Overall, it’s a really unnecessary purchase (that I’ve made about 5 times in my lifetime) because everyone loves it so much, I want to aswell 🙂
On to the W7 Light Diffusing Concealer.
This product does claim to be a concealer. It comes is a similar looking to the YSL Touche Eclat (from afar) plastic pen.
You twist the top of the pen to get the product out onto the brush, again similar to the YSL.
For me, this is where the comparison ends. The product itself,to me, is just crap. It doesn’t have any major coverage, doesn’t really conceal and can come out of the pen in little hardened balls which makes it hard to blend into the skin.
Here’s both pens swatched side by side. The YSL Touche Eclat is on the left and the W7 Light Diffusing Concealer is on the right. The YSL is more peachy toned and the W7 pen is definitely a more suited colour for highlighting for lighter skinned people like myself.
Here’s both products in action.
My eyes with nothing underneath
I buffed both of them in with the same Real Techniques Brush
The W7 concealer is here on my right eye
Close up, I can’t seen any major difference between either eye, except there is a build up of product on the side of nose where I applied the concealer.
Onto the YSL Touche Eclat.
I applied it in the same way
The W7 Concealer is on my right and the YSL Touche Eclat on my left.
I personally think the YSL Touche Eclat does a better job at concealing even though it’s not actually formulated as a concealer. The W7 Light Diffusing Concealer just doesn’t nothing really.
There is a pretty huge price difference between both of these products. The YSL Touche Eclat will set you back €35, you can get it from Debenhams online here And the the W7 Light Diffusing Concealer will set you back around 5/6 euro depending on where you pick it up. I can’t find a direct Irish stockist link to it, but here it is on the W7 website.
What do you think, would you pick up either? Are you a YSL Touche Eclat advocate?
It’s April Favourites time! Yep April is over, yep it’s nearly half way through 2016, no I am not panicking, why do you ask 🙂
I started up doing monthly favourites again last month ( here ‘s Last months in case you missed them). And so I am back again a month later with my April Favourites for 2016 🙂
I did it in rambling video form again, let me know if it’s something you enjoy,or would you prefer it in a blog post format. I will list all the products always here on my website too though.

Essence Prettifying Lip Oil
Rimmel Exaggerate Lip Liner in Addiction, €5.49 from Boots here
theBalm MaryLou-Manizer. I have a full review here. You can buy it online from Cloud10beauty here It costs €21.50
Mac Book Air. I bought mine from Power City but I can’t find a link online. Here’s a link to it through Harvey Norman

If you do just be sure to turn off the subscription roll over or you’ll be charged for the next month, unless you want to keep using it of course 🙂
And that’s it, these are some of my April Favourites. Be sure to let me know some of the things you’ve been loving for the month of April. Can you believe it’s no May? Madness altogether.
As always thanks for reading (and watching) I really appreciate it.
So many of you told me you love watching Get Ready With Me style videos. I love watching them too (not my own though if I’m being honest ha) So here’s a Spring Makeup one, where I am basically applying a face of makeup that I would wear for a Spring day/early evening. Myself and himself were off for some Friday eats this day so I thought it would be a appropriate because I was actually doing my makeup to go somewhere, not just for the sake of filming 🙂
This is more of a talk through style video, which I still haven’t completely mastered, words still elude me 🙂 But I thought I would give it a whirl and sure don’t they say practice makes perfect, right?
I used a mixture of more affordable and more high end makeup which is a true representation of my normal makeup routine. I like to mix it up 🙂
So there you have it all the products I used in my Spring Makeup Get Ready With Me. I would love to know what you think and be sure to tell me your favourite types of beauty videos to watch.

I am a big fan of ‘drugstore’ more affordable mascaras. As you know if you’ve been around these parts before, I am a waterproof mascara junkie. It’s been a while since I had tried a high end one so I traipsed into Brown Thomas a few weeks ago, had a look around, asked you lovely people on Snapchat what I should get and left with the YSL Volume Effect Faux Cils Waterproof mascara.
May I add the girl on the counter was super lovely and friendly which made the experience so much nicer. I love going to Boots and picking up bargains, but I do also love splurging every now and again on more luxurious items. As Tom Haverford and Donna from Parks and Recreation would say “Treat yo’self’ and that I did with the YSL Volume Effect Faux Cils Waterproof Mascara 🙂
I have to be honest I kind of hoped I wasn’t going to really like it, because it means if it runs out I am going to want to buy one again. Alas, it was love at first use, damn you YSL!
The packaging alone is pretty glorious, right? They definitely get brownie points for that.
The formula of the YSL Volume Effect Faux Cils Waterproof is wet but still very build-able without clumping together on your lashes. It has quite a thin tapered bristled wand that is great for really getting into the roots of your lashes.
The reason I always go for waterproof is because I have really straight lashes and waterproof formulas seem to hold a curl better throughout the day for me. I also have oily eye lids and normal formulas can sometimes transfer and make a mess.Since getting this mascara I have always used a eyelash curler before application, just to give my lashes an extra bit of oomph, for the purpose of this post I didn’t though and I was actually quite happy with how my lashes turned out regardless. For me and my crap eyelashes, there’s volume, there’s length and there’s a bit of curl too!
Here’s my lashes before application.
Then here is my upper lashes on one eye with a couple of coats of the YSL Volume Effect Faux Cils.
I even use this mascara on my bottom lashes too, as the wand it not too big and the formula doesn’t flake or transfer. This means I don’t have to necessarily buy a separate tubing mascara from my bottom lashes which I normally do. That’s penny pinching right there 🙂
Here’s the before and after on each of my eyes.
And then here’s the YSL Volume Effect Faux Cils applied to both eyes.
I do still prefer giving my eyelashes a quick curl with the eyelash curlers because I want maximum lash.
But if I forgot to do it or didn’t bring an eyelash curlers away with me, I wouldn’t be in panic mode as I have been in the past 🙂
I bloomin’ love this mascara, it’s pricey for sure, but it really ticks all the boxes for me. I may not use it exclusively forever because I do like to try new products, (it’s what I do ha), but if I HAD too, I wouldn’t be too unhappy about it at all.
You can pick up the YSL Volume Effect Faux Cils Waterproof mascara from Boots instore or online here and from Brown Thomas instore. It costs 32.50.
What do you think, would you splurge? Let me know what you’re favourite mascara is?
