Mac Whirl Lipstick and Lip LinerI’ve had Mac Whirl lipstick for a while now. And I’ve had the liner forever, literally. And I never thought to do a blogpost on them. Silly me! Well I am rectifying this now for the archives and just in case any of you want to see them in action πŸ™‚

Mac Whirl Lipstick and lipliner

There was a lot of hype around Mac Whirl lipstick launching after the success of the liner. I get so much use out of the lip liner. It’s great on it’s own, under similar shade lippies, not so similar shades and even gloss. It just works. It’s that typical 90’s flat brown shade.irish beauty blogger

I feel like it has a hint of blue in it because like any more blue toned red, it definitely makes your teeth look more white and bright, score!Mac Cosmetics Ireland

The Mac Whirl lipstick itself is a matte formula. Mac Cosmetics do a great creamy matte formula, they apply smoothly and last well. But generally with any matte lippie, your lips need to be in tip top condition before application and it can cause dryness as you wear it throughout the day and night.irish beauty blogbeauty blog ireland

It’s weird because I don’t find the lip liner shade intimidating, but the lipstick is of course more opaque, so I do find it’s a bit of a statement to wear. Of course, this thought process is in the eye of the beholder, and the person wearing the lipstick.

Overall I am a fan of both Mac Whirl lipstick and the lip liner, but I do find myself reaching for the lip liner more day to day. Now Mac , if you’re reading this, if you could make a Soar lipstick too, that would be great. I love a brown lip but I am also partial to a mauve lip too πŸ™‚

What’s your favourite Mac lipstick?

I think the theme of this post is pretty self explanatory from the title. This is my three step process to getting fuller lips.

top beauty blog ireland

Now I do mention this in the video as well. I love Instagram as much as the next blogger. But, I very much try to live in the real makeup wearing world for the most part. So there’ll be no drag queen over drawing here, (as much as I love what they do.) This is my guide to natural, but fuller lips.

I use three products here, but all three lend themselves to a more poutier look in their own right really. A slick of liner, lipstick or gloss tends to make your lips stand out more, so on their own can make your lips look a little bigger.

This run through is for the time when you want to take a bit of time, even out your lip line, make it a little bigger and also make everything last as long as possible throughout the day. The products I used aren’t necessarily important, but the tones are, I think.top irish beauty blog

This is my go to nude, fuller lip look. My skin tone doesn’t lend itself to super nude lips, so I settle for a more brown nude colour spectrum.irish beauty blogger

I use Mac Whirl lip liner to even out and over draw my lip line slightly. My top lip is smaller than my bottom so I like to make them look a bit more symmetrical. I used Laura Geller’s High Line Honey lipstick to lighten the inside of my lips a little. And then finally, right in the centre of my lips I used the new Urban Decay Hi-Fi Shine lipgloss in Fuel to add some extra dimension. Gloss is obviously shiny so allows the light to bounce off it, letting us fake fuller lips.irish beauty blog

If you want to see me talk through the process, just click on the video above. Or, you can of course head straight to my YouTube channel here.

Let me know what you think and if you have any fuller lip hacks! πŸ™‚

Yet another post about Mac Cosmetics. I am having a bit of an obsession at the moment it seems.

My last post here was on my most reached for Mac eyeshadows. This one will be chatting about my current favourite lip combo from the brand.

mac cosmetics

Mac Cosmetics do a damn good lipstick. No one can deny that. I have always been a fan and have always had a few in my collection. They do a mean lip liner too and the more I have gotten into lip lining. (Yes, I am late on that bandwagon πŸ™‚ ). The more I have added to my stash.

My current favourite lip combination just happens to be two products from the same brand, so I thought it justified a post.

Whirl lip liner isn’t new to me. I’ve owned it for a while now. mac cosmetics whirl

It’s the perfect mid tone brown shade. I use it alone and under similar lipstick shades. I also use it under not so similar lipstick shades. For me, It’s great for adding a bit of dimension or shade under lighter tones aswell.

This will set you back €17.50 here.

I have been loving pairing it with one of my newest Mac Cosmetics finds. This is definitely not a new lipstick. I hear people talk about it all the time, so I needed it in my life.mac cosmetics syrup

It’s a lustre finish lippie. This means it’s more shiny in finish. Doesn’t last as long on the lips as a matte finish, but it does leave behind a bit of a stain.

I am a mauve lipstick WHORE so this shade is just my jam. It is the perfect everyday mauve shade with a hint of pink. I wear it in it’s raw state too πŸ™‚

Wearing it over Whirl just darkens it every so slightly and also makes it last a bit longer also. I can even out my lip line with Whirl too before adding Syrup over top for a more defined look. Using it on it’s own is a little softer.

You can find Mac lipsticks on the Arnotts website here.

Of course there is no need to use both, this is just my current lip combo fave and I wanted to share it with you πŸ™‚ Have you a favourite Mac Cosmetics lipstick?

lip pencils most reached for

Disclaimer, a lot of these lip pencils are a similar colour hue. Also, most of them are from two specific brands. Now that is out of the way, let’s get into some of my most reached for πŸ™‚

lip pencils favourite

Brown nude and mauve lips are my jam! I have four lip pencils here that help with that addiction. I will wear them on their own, with lip balm over top, or of course with lippie as well. I have a bit of a complex about my top lip. It’s not in proportion to my bottom one, so lining my lip and slightly over drawing my top one is a normal occurrence.

Whirl from Mac is about as nude as I get, from a lip perspective πŸ™‚

Their liners are pricey, but they last really well and are generally super smooth to apply. Whirl is €17.50. You can buy it from the Brown Thomas website here.

I reach for Rimmel’s Exaggerate Lip Liner in Addiction when I want something super brown.

These lip pencils are mechanical and much softer in texture. You run out of product pretty fast if you are partial to a particular shade. But, they will only set you back €5.49 from Boots here.

If I am looking to go mauve, I reach for Mac’s Soar.

This is a newer addition to my makeup collection and I don’t think I will ever be without it. I think a mauve lip is the most flattering on me, (if I do say so myself). If in doubt, I mauve it out :).

When I am in more of a pink mood. Rimmel’s Eastend Snob is my favourite. I actually did a blog post on it here a while back. I compared it to Charlotte Tilbury’s Pillow Talk. Spoiler alert, it came out on top!

Ok, we have to touch on reds, because I do enjoy a dabbling in a red lip. I have two here that I alternate. Mac’s Cherry would be in the mix too, only I sadly left mine in a pub somewhere in Dublin. RIP.

I have another Rimmel Exaggerate Pencil here. This is Red Diva. It’s the perfect cherry red shade.

Another one I reach for is the PS Love Lip Liner Pencil in 05 from Penneys.

I love these, I dedicated a whole blog post to them here. Such great value.

If I am feeling a berry lip, which I do alot, especially when the weather is a little cooler. Mac Currant is one I pick up if I am feeling particularly brave. Generally though, the Essence Longlasting Lip Liner in Yummy Berry is what my hand gravitates towards. These are another great budget buy and come in a multitude of shades.

Yummy Berry is a bit more pink. I generally fill the whole lip in with it and then dab over it with something like Mac’s Plumful or Rebel for full on berry mode.

I could probably go on, but I will leave it there for now πŸ™‚ Spot any of your favourite lip pencils?

In the video here, you’ll see me using everything, but the finished look, looks a bit like this. I think it definitely sums up my go to makeup favourites for 2016. And, I do love a good before and after picture!

It’s monthly favourites time again here on Beautynook. It’s crazy, I spent so long not doing them and now my month doesn’t feel complete without rounding up some of the things that I’ve been using either freshly for the month or some old favourites that I’ve found a love for once again. So just click on the video above to see the things that made it into my June Favourites video πŸ™‚

June favouritesAnd like always, I’ll link anything I can here too, in case something takes your fancy and you want to know more. I know monthly favourites are more rambly videos so less info is given generally while I’m in waffle mode πŸ™‚

June Favourites

First up we have the pom pom sandals from River Island. These will definitely divide opinions I know. Unfortunately these were limited edition and don’t seem to be on the website anymore. Asos have similar styles here though if you want to check them out.

The Kind Shower Gel from Cocoa Brown. I have a full a post all about the new Kind range here, if you want to check it out.

I’ve never done a blogpost on the Lorac Pro Palette for some weird reason! I had to buy it from Amazon, but that was a couple of years ago now.

Mac Whirl Lip liner can be bought from Brown Thomas in store or online here

The Rimmel Kate lipstick in number 45 is here on the Boots website.

I have a full post on the Sleek Solstice Palette here and you can pick it up from Boots (hopefully) in store or online here

The L’Occitane Verveine Cooling Hand Cream Gel is on their website here. I actually thought it was more expensive. €10.50 is ok for a 30ml tube, right?

And….we’re done πŸ™‚

As always thanks for taking the time to click and watch. If you liked the video, you can keep tabs on when I upload by subscribing to my Youtube channel here πŸ™‚

Have you any particular June Favourites? Let me know.
