Posts

Ok, this is probably the most ridiculous posts I will every write, but hear me out πŸ™‚ I have spoke about this before in other posts aswell as on social media. I do not justify it, but I use TWO mascaras generally on a daily basis! Madness I know. I want something that holds a curl, lengthens and defines up top. Down below, I want something that lengthens, separates and doesn’t flake or smudge. This is where the Mac Extended Play Lash comes in.

Mac Exended Play Lash

Now I will say I don’t always repurchase it. I don’t find it does great things for my top lashes. For me, it’s just OK. I much prefer the likes of Catrice Glam & Doll Waterproof which I have an old review of here, or my ride or die Fairydrops Scandal Queen mascara, review here. Scandal Queen does hold tight on the bottom lashes but I find the brush a bit cumbersome and the formula a bit thick for my sparse hairs.

When I bite the bullet and reintroduce Mac Extended Play Lash into my routine, I just fall in love with it all over again. It’s a treat for my bottom lashes. And they deserve it, they don’t have a lot going on in their lives!

Mac Extended Play Lash

Extended Play just works so well, so every once in a while, I choose to be apologetically extra and pick one up. The wand is thin and reasonably small, so it makes it easy to really get in and coat all of the hairs. The formula is quite wet which I think is beneficial for your lower lashes because you can really pack the product on without it clumping or making the hairs bunch together. It does a really good job (for me anyways) of making my bottom lashes look longer and so much fuller. I generally have pretty boring short lashes naturally.

The one thing that makes me buy it again and again though is that it doesn’t budge when you put it on, but the waterproof formula is not a pain to get off either. On me, it never flakes or smudges on my lower lash line. I’ve never had this with any other mascara except probably the Clinique Bottom Lash.

Of course people use it on their top lashes as well and love it, but it really has become a bit of a cult bottom lash mascara. I think it’s fair to say I bloody love it πŸ™‚

You can buy Mac Extended Play Lash in Mac and Brown Thomas in store. Or online from BT here. It costs €20. So tell me, do you think I’m crazy? πŸ™‚

My first official video of 2017 comes in the form of my Makeup Favourites for the year gone by.

top irish beauty blog

I thought rather than just show you my makeup favourites, I would show you them in action too. I picked my most used products and created a really simple ‘me’ look that I usually end up doing when I don’t know what to do. Some of the products were new in 2016, some were new to me for the year and then some are just favourites that I always gravitate towards because I know they work.

Makeup Favourites 2016

I’ve written blogposts for a hell of alot of these, so I’ll try list as many as I can in case you want to know more about a specific product.

  • Hylamide HA Blur Primer. Review here.
  • L’OrΓ©al Infallible 24HR Matte Foundation. Review here.
  • Nyx Micro Brow Pencil. Review here.

Phew, I think that’s everything πŸ™‚

In the video here, you’ll see me using everything, but the finished look, looks a bit like this. I think it definitely sums up my go to makeup favourites for 2016. And, I do love a good before and after picture!

I had seen the Maybelline Master Precise Skinny Eye Liner being used in a few American Youtuber’s videos. A couple of them compared it to the Kevyn Aucoin 1.5mm Mechanical Liners which you can see on the Sephora website here.

Maybelline Master Precise Skinny Liner

The Maybelline Master Precise Skinny liner is 1.8mm so not too dissimilar from a size point of view. Basically it’s a skinny ass liner as the name would suggest πŸ™‚

Maybelline Master Precise Skinny Liner

For me, this is genius for tight lining the waterline. It’s something I find really uncomfortable so using a smaller tool is less invasive on the eyeball. You can see the difference in size here compared to a standard eye liner.

As always America got it way before we did, but I did stumble across it a couple of months ago in the new in section on the Maybelline stand in Boots. I paid €4.99 for it which I don’t think is too bad. I have seen it in store since but it isn’t on the Boots website, so I can’t link it like usual.

It comes in hot pink plastic mechanical packaging. When you first buy it the liner and has a rounded nib, that doesn’t last long though. So off the bat I will say, this is not the liner for you if you want something for more detailed liner work, which is how Maybelline are marketing it. The mechanical aspect is good however, if you twist up too much product, you can’t get it back in to the pencil, I have broken it a couple of times as a result. When it breaks you’re left with a blunt nib. And obviously wasting product as a result.

The liner itself is soft, really dark and pigmented. In America they have three colours to choose from, here we just have the black. It is super easy to use and works really well on the waterline. It is waterproof and lasts better than some of the other pencil liners I have used in the past. It does fade on the waterline after a few hours, but not completely. I do notice it gathers in the corners of the eyes and the tear ducts after a while, so that is something to be conscious of. I can get all day out of it on the top lash line though. It doesn’t transfer onto the lid and I do have oily eye lids. If you want to use it to smoke out the lash line, you have to work fast because it does set. I suggest doing one eye at a time and using a dense synthetic brush to blend it out.

Overall, I am a fan of the Maybelline Master Precise Skinny Liiner. It isn’t perfect, but it is a good liner and the size of it is really nifty. If you don’t like using gel liner in your waterline this could be a good alternative. It is also really handy to throw in your handbag for touch ups. Or, if you’re heading out after work and want to add some smokiness to your eye makeup.

So, as you might have seen in my last post here. I hauled some Bourjois products in Boots. They are currently doing 3 for 2 and I took full advantage πŸ™‚

bourjois haul

I love the Bourjois brand overall, but some products for me can be hit or miss. However, their Rouge Edition Velvet matte liquid lipsticks are probably one of my ride or die matte lip formulas. And for some reason, I have never done a proper review of them. Since I bought two shades last week (as well as a new mascara), I thought I would show you the colours as well as the formula in action. And, give you my first impressions of their new Volume Reveal mascara in waterproof. I have seen alot of good things about this mascara online so I thought I would add my thoughts into the mix.

The two shades of the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvets I picked up are:

08 Grand Cru which I thought was more of a deep matte red off the bat. It comes off as a brighter red on the lips though.

I will say although both of these dry down to a matte finish, the formula itself doesn’t dry down completely unless you wait for every layer to dry completely. I do love the texture and the finish of them though. They last well and fade leaving a stain behind. The colour range is great too. The Rouge Edition Velvets retail for €12.99. You can get them in store or online from Boots here.

My other purchase was of course the Volume Reveal Waterproof Mascara.

bourjois volume reveal

It comes with a x3 zoom mirror on the side of the tube. Not sure if I would get much use of it. But you never know πŸ™‚

bourjois mascara

It has a quite a large plastic spooley.

The formula itself is thick and dries very quickly. You can layer it but you have to work fast. It definitely does give plenty of volume to the lashes though.

Not as much curl as I would usually like, but it is more of a voluminous formula. And it’s fair to say it does what it says on the tin πŸ™‚

The Volume reveal comes in non waterproof and waterproof and retails for €13.99 again in Boots in store or online here.

And that’s my 3 for 2 Bourjois haul done! Let me know if you like this type of show and tell. I would love your feedback πŸ™‚

I did a little bit of shopping. Well, enough to warrant a blogpost and video πŸ™‚ I didn’t really know what to call this so I just went simple with Beauty Fashion Tech Haul πŸ™‚

irish youtuber

So, my beauty fashion tech haul (see it has a ring to it right? Not ha!). It consists of some bedding from Penneys.

Oh and some Penneys Christmas decorations…just because!

I picked a new jumper from H&M. Think I might keep this for Christmas Day πŸ™‚

I got some beauty bits from Boots too. Some Batiste Dry Shampoo, Real Techniques Mini Eraser Sponges. I repurchased my Nyx Micro Brow Pencil in Ash Brown that I use in my My Brow Routine video here. And then, Bourjois was on 3 for 2 so I picked up their new Volume Reveal Mascara in the waterproof formula. Oh and two new shades of the very lovely Rouge Edition Velvet Liquid Lipsticks to add to my collection.

boots haul

And then finally, my really random (but necessary) purchase. A Nintendo Classic Mini.

This actually caught me off guard because I had it pre-ordered for months and then I just got the email to say it was in stock. We had to high tail it to Smyths and pick it up πŸ™‚

And that’s it for my beauty fashion tech haul with the great inventive name πŸ™‚ Obviously I go into more detail in the video. You can of course watch it by clicking above as always. Or, head straight to my Youtube channel here and watch it.

Let me know if you like haul videos. I had such a good reaction to the last one I did I thought I would add another to the playlist. I would love some feedback though.

Thanks, as always.

It’s that time of the week. Time for a new video from yours truly πŸ™‚ This one is about my top five ride or die makeup products. As you probably would have guessed from the title πŸ™‚

ride or die makeup products

Look I even made a picture with writing on it! That’s when you know I mean business πŸ™‚ For a minute in this video, I nearly thought I came up with this concept. What a twat I am. It took my brain a minute to catch up but then I remembered it was the lovely Jaclyn Hill who created the ride or die makeup tag, duh!

And me looking all smug and the likes.

irish beauty vlogger

Anyways onto the products!

ride or die makeup tag

  1. The Mac Cosmetics Full Coverage Foundation in NC20. I usually get mine from Brown Thomas in store. After looking on the Brown Thomas website I can’t seem to find it! Hopefully they’ve just changed the name and the packaging to Prolongwear, which is on the website here. I hope and pray it’s not discontinued because I’m running low πŸ™
  2. Number two is the L’Oreal Infallible 24 Hr Matte Foundation. I won’t go into too much detail about this because I have a full blogpost on it here.
  3. My third choices were two I know, I’m a cheater and a half! The Fairydrops Scandal Queen Waterproof Mascara. I have a full review here. And, the Catrice Glam & Doll Waterproof mascara, Also, full blogpost here. I just realised they changed the name of this since I got my first tube!
  4. My fourth choice the Bourjois Rouge Velvet Edition in the shade ‘Ping Pong’. You can pick these up from Boots instore and online here, or from Cloud10beauty here.
  5. Then finally my last ride or die makeup product was goat hair blending brushes. The ones I mention are the Debs from Nima, you can buy it here, the Blank Canvas E26 available here and the old school Mac 217 which you can pick up here.
