I’m a going through a bit of a budget beauty phase at the minute. Here is another one to throw into the mix. I created this really simple, but I think effective, gold glitter eyeshadow look using all Penneys/Primark products.

Now I did cheat ever so slightly, just because I didn’t have everything I needed, like eyeshadow primer for example from Penneys. But all the products after that are Penneys own brand, PS Beauty, or products that are readily available in store. I’m talking like I used a bucket of products, I didn’t. You’ll see in the video 🙂 I have reviews already of the powder eyeshadows from Penneys here and the glitter and cream shadows here and here. That’s all the main bases covered I think in this gold glitter eyeshadow look.

There is chat about my eyebrows too in this video, which I’ve recently gotten micro bladed. I have put all my brow updated into highlights on my Instagram, just so I can refer to it if there’s any questions. I go through the process and the pricing and all that good stuff over there.

The gold glitter eyeshadow look itself I think is reasonably easy and I didn’t go in too heavy. I wanted it to be wearable, but still a bit sparkly.

The star of the show is the €1 Penneys eyeshadow called Gold Digger.

I’ve also come to the realisation in the past few weeks, that doing your eyeshadow before your base is brilliant. You can clean up any fall out and correct your work and you base won’t have glitter eyeshadow in it 🙂

I am super happy with how this turned out, the spot under my eye is really annoying, but I have to get over that 🙂

I kept the skin super simple, and added a matte pinky nude lip and a good splodge of highlighter to finish things off. Let me know what you think. Do you rate any of the Penneys makeup?

I feel like such a broken record when it comes to the Infallible Foundations. I generally love most of them. Well, besides the Total Cover and the stick one. But still overall, I am such a fan, and the L’Oréal Infallible Fresh Wear Foundation is no exception!

L'Oréal Infallible Fresh Wear Foundation

I bought their new More Than Concealer originally. (Review here), and didn’t pick this up, just because I have a bucket of foundations at the minute. However, I got sent it within a PR pack from L’Oréal. After seeing so many positive reviews online about it then, my makeup heart was happy to try it 🙂L'Oréal Infallible Fresh Wear Foundation

So what do they say about the L’Oréal Infallible Fresh Wear Foundation?

It’s ‘available in 26 shades. Weightless feel, fresh wear liquid foundation. Transfer proof, life proof, party proof and waterproof. Long wear formula, lasts up to 24 hours. No compromise, full coverage base. Ultra stretchable gel formula.’

A very long winded explanation if you ask me. And in my very humble opinion, not completely true.

I have the shade 15 Porcelain, which is a really decent match for me, and it does come in 26 shades.

The formula for me, is not too fluid and not too thick. In the words of goldilocks, it’s just right 🙂

You can see it properly in action in the super short, Instagram friendly video at the top of this post and here. On me, it has medium coverage. You can see in the video, that I go in with two light-ish layers of foundation and I feel I need that on my red porous skin, to make things a bit smoother and less blotchy.

Here is my skin before application with decent lighting so it looks better than it really does:

I applied one layer:

And then I go in with another one for good measure:

This is it without powder or concealer on top. It gives a nice glow to the skin without looking too shiny. I have oilier skin, so this is definitely a rarity for me. It sets well and gives a decent medium coverage. On me, it’s not full coverage. It doesn’t feel heavy on my skin at all either, so I agree with them there. I’ve never worn it for 24 hours so I can’t attest to that, but I will say it lasts really really well. And if you do need to touch up with powder, it lends itself to that too. It doesn’t move around or become blotchy in my experience of wearing it.

Overall, I am such a fan of the L’Oréal Infallible Fresh Wear Foundation. I’ll reach for it day to day and for a night out too. You can find it in Boots now and online. I found it for the best price here.  Have you tried it?

**************PR SAMPLE**************

I always say, don’t judge me for calling this a ‘makeup tutorial’, so I just want to begin with that statement, because I am well aware of my lack of major skills in the makeup department. It’s just a blanket statement and we understand what it means 🙂 Ok now that’s out of the way….

makeup tutorial new in products

It’s been a minute since I sat down in front of the camera and just did a face. So I wanted to do just that. I have been lucky enough to receive some products from PR over the last couple of weeks that are really decent too. So how did I incorporate them? By doing a ‘makeup tutorial’ with some new in products, genius.beauty blog ireland

For the most part I used new products, I did have to throw in some oldies too, just because I didn’t have a full face of makeup to use. I’m not that popular 🙂 The new products are mostly from Catrice and Essence, as their new Spring\Summer ranges have just launched. There is loads more products to check out from the brands, I just have a cross section.

I also had some newbies from L’Oréal, including the Infallible Fresh Wear Foundation, which I am currently obsessed with, no lie! And the Maybelline Made For All Lippies. Oh and the new skinny brow pencil from IT Cosmetics.

For me, the star of the show is the Topshop Chameleon Eyeshadow in Evolve. This kind of defeats the purpose of the makeup tutorial because it’s not new. But they have reinvented their beauty range, so I’m using that as my excuse. I need to get my hands on more colours of these shadows.

I am no makeup artist, so the makeup definitely didn’t go to plan. There was a few hiccups along the way, and my winged liner left a lot to be desired. But we got there and I was fairly happy with the finished result.

**************PR SAMPLES INCLUDED********************

I’ve already swatched it here, now it’s time to show it in action on the eyes. I paid way too much money for this not to utilise it at least twice on Beautynook 🙂 This is my Huda Beauty New Nude Eyeshadow Palette Tutorial.

beauty blogger ireland

I noticed while editing that my eyebrows are not looking their best for this video, but sure you win some, you lose some. I just put them on for the purpose of filming. Obviously my heart wasn’t in it 🙂

top irish beauty blog

I haven’t shut up about Huda Beauty in a minute, so I promise this is the last dedicated post for a while. My debit card will be happy to hear that too. I reviewed their Matte & Metal Melted Eyeshadows as well here too if you’re interested.

Huda Beauty Ireland

I wasn’t properly sold on the Huda Beauty New Nude Eyeshadow Palette since first getting it, I have to be honest. But sitting down with it and taking my time applying the glitter shades has really changed my mind. It’s very pink and purple, so neither of those colours are your jam, stay well clear!

Huda Beauty The New Nude Eyshadow Palette

I’ve been gravitating towards cranberry and pink shades more and more over the past few months. At first I was super intimidated by them. I find the more you try something, for example a red or an orange lip, the more ‘normal’ it becomes. And this has happened for me with these tones of shadows for sure.

irish beauty blogger

In fact, you’re probably sick of seeing them on my eyeballs now. Totes soz 🙂

I will say tonally, you will get really similar looks with the Huda Beauty New Nude Eyeshadow Palette. I’m sure you can just guess that by looking at it, but I’m being super pedantic, cos it’s super spendy!

Anyways, please do click on the video and let me know what you think of the look, not so much my eyebrows though! Have you splurged on the Palette?

*********PR SAMPLES ARE USED IN THIS VIDEO*********

I am no stranger to the EX1 Cosmetics brand online. I’ve seen it mentioned so much over the past few years. It’s been available for us to buy here in Ireland the last while, but only online, so I never pulled the trigger.EX1 Cosmetics First Impressions

However, Boots are now stocking EX1 Cosmetics officially now. I was perusing the makeup aisles in Boots in Liffey Valley. Nestled within the more well known brands, there it was. Small, but mighty 🙂

EX1 Cosmetics First Impressions

They only seem to have four products for us to choose from here. I think they only have five products to choose from in total though, so we’re not missing out too much. They have a compact powder as well, but that wasn’t on the stand in Boots.top beauty blogger ireland

I was ridiculously eager to try the products I got, people have such high praise for the brand. Prices range from around €13-€17, so it’s definitely a brand that’s more on the affordable side. I know a lot of makeup artists love the foundation, so that makes it even more endearing. I filmed this video the day after I picked the products up, just because I couldn’t wait. This is not a review, it’s a first impressions video, just showing you how the three products apply and chatting about if I like them first time around. This is my skin before application, plus a ridiculous screenshot because it made me laugh ha!

Then this is my skin after applying all three of the EX1 Cosmetics base products. I used the lightest shade 1.0 in all the products. The shade range doesn’t seem to be brilliant.

They definitely evened everything out and made a blank canvas for me to apply over. Of course I go into more details in the video, but first impressions of all three products are good. I’ll give a more in depth insight once I try them more. Be sure to follow me on Instagram to keep up to date.

The word ‘influencer’, has just become part of our everyday lives now. Wikipedia describe it as: ‘Influencer marketing (also influence marketing), is a form of marketing in which focus is placed on influential people rather than the target market as a whole. It identifies the individuals that have influence over potential customers, and orients marketing activities around these influencers.’

top irish beauty blog

So in a nutshell, it’s marketing. A form of advertising. It has been coined to describe anyone with an online following, whether it be YouTube, social media, blogging. It all lies under the influencer umbrella. As someone who puts themselves out there somewhat online. (Don’t worry I am very aware of how small of a fish I am before you come at me 🙂 ). I am just not the hugest fan of the word.

Irish beauty blog

To me, influence can come from anywhere and everywhere. The person in front of you in McDonalds can influence your ordering decision. Your neighbour can influence your hair colour. It’s everywhere. From an online perspective, I prefer the term content creator. Someone who puts thought into creating online content, paid or unpaid, it shouldn’t matter. Once they’re doing a good job, you enjoy it and they do it with integrity.

I think that’s what we’ve lost within this online world. People creating because they enjoy it, not just solely for what they can get out of it. It’s a industry now, a very profitable industry. It a ways for average people to make a lot of money and for celebrities to make even more money. I have no problem with this whatsoever may I add. It was a logical move. It just hurts my heart that the likes of blogging and vlogging, seem to have lost their meaning within it all. Content is just churned out to keep the money rolling in.irish beauty youtuber

Now don’t get me wrong, I know there is still old school bloggers and vloggers out there. Polished and unpolished. I like to think I am one. An unpolished one that is 🙂 I write blogposts, I take my own, not very professional photographs. It’s just me rambling about makeup. Some I buy myself, some I get given for consideration. I try to be diplomatic and honest at all times. Blogging, beauty blogging in particular, became relevant because it was a way to cut through the bullshit advertising that was being shoved down our throats. It was real people giving real opinions on products.

I am all for people getting recognition for creating content. I encourage it. It can be hard work. It can be demanding. If I got a euro every time someone asked me to buy something so I could test it and tell them if it was good. There would be way more euros in my bank account. Readers/followers, can be demanding, can expect a lot for nothing. Of course, I am talking generally here, but people can be arseholes, some don’t even say thank you if you go out of your way to research something and answer questions. irish beauty blog

I think we’ve all lost our way within it all a little. People who create content and then those who choose to consume it. Now I know I’m a 33 year old, small time blogger and an avid content consumer, so I’m not preaching here as such. I can only talk on behalf of myself, here in Ireland. I feel like Ireland is having a hard time coming to terms with this ever growing online industry. What I see here is a lot of negativity (on both sides), anger, jealousy, the list goes on. My two cents? Online media isn’t going anywhere.

We have to learn to embrace it. Consume the parts we enjoy, the people we enjoy. Give kudos to the people doing a damn good job out there! Because there is so many awesome people getting lost within it all. So much content is consumed as a result of hate. People watch certain YouTube videos or scroll Instagram just so they can give out about it. Well, you may be giving out about it but you’re also giving that person reach and a platform. Kind of defeats the purpose, right?

You can only be influenced if you choose to be. I say that knowing my audience overall are adults, that can make up their own minds and make their own decisions.

Like my last rambled post, these are just the thoughts in my head which I’ve spewed out onto this page. Let me know what you think. These topics need to be discussed. We need to find some sort of a happy medium within all this.

Gemma
