My August favourites are all beauty related. It was a bit of a shit month personally, but beauty wise, it was pretty awesome 🙂

August Favourites

I was definitly a slave to Urban Decay through August. They have has some epic releases though so I couldn’t help and jump on board.

I have a post about the Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette here, so I won’t ramble on about it too much. This has all the deets. And, I did a makeup look with it here, so I got you covered if you want to see it being put to the test.

Since doing those posts though I did add to my Heat collection with the 24/7 Glide On Eye Liner in Torch (which I keep calling Scorch, duh). You can get it from the Debenhams website here.

I have been also digging the Naked Skin, The Illumizer Beauty Pressed Powder. This is on the Debenhams website here. My lovely blogging buddy Sue from (itscherrysue) presented me this in the pub at the start of August. How very kind of her.

My other August favourites consist of the Tarte Shape Tape Concealer (review here), this was another lovely gift. The Benefit Brow Tones brow gel, this stuff is really interesting. Again, it’s on the Debenhams website here.

New makeup tutorial

Forgive me. I thought I would sit down and use some of the new makeup products that have come my way over the past few weeks. Some are PR samples, some were gifts from lovely people and some I bought myself.

Then, I thought I would sit down, play with some new makeup and answer some of your questions. Still OK.

New Makeup GRWM

It kind of turned into using new makeup and having a bit of a therapy session though. And as a result, the video is nearly 30 minutes long! It was also a bitch to edit. When I am rambling I say ’em’ so much, it is infuriating!

As a beauty blogger, I don’t delve into my personal life all that much. It’s not really that necessary. You come here for the beauty chats 🙂 I don’t hide it either though. If you follow me on social media, I do dip in and out of life updates.

I use lots of new makeup products in this video. Some I have used before, some are brand new out and some are just new to me. I give you a run down of my impressions and how they apply, as well as talking a lot of shit too 🙂

I have posts already on the Essence Collection here. Also the Tarte Shape Tape aswell here.

There’s some new products from The Body Shop and Catrice being put to the test too.

The makeup ended up being a simple bronzed eye with a pop of colour in the water line and a mauve lip. Very me and I ain’t mad at it 🙂

I roped John in to do the Boyfriend Does My Makeup challenge! It took a bit of persuading, he was a bit skeptical about being in front of the camera.

After a few beers though, we set up the camera and we jumped in. And I think you’ll agree with me after watching it. He took to it like a duck to water 🙂 I never particularly pride myself on being great in front of the camera, I just do it because I enjoy it. He’s so bloody quick and funny, he puts me to shame really 🙂

irish beauty blog

It took us an age to begin though because he couldn’t get used to the ring light at all. So if you hear him complaining about the light, that’s what he is on about!

If you’re not an avid YouTube watcher like myself. The Boyfriend Does My Makeup challenge is basically an umbrella term for your partner chancing their arm with your makeup. Myself and John are together over thirteen years, so calling him my ‘boyfriend’ is a bit strange. He’s just John to me now ha!

He tries to think he knows a thing or two about makeup. And to give him credit, he does listen to me harp on. (Notice the Anastasia Subculture reference he makes). I don’t think he realised just how hard it is to apply it all, and how much time and effort goes into it all. I reckon he won’t badger me so much now when I’m running late for a night out 🙂

Boyfriend Does My Makeup

I won’t name the products he uses, sure none of them went on right ha. But if you want to see me put the Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette to proper use, I have a post on it here.

If you want to watch the video, just click on it above, or you watch it directly on YouTube here. Big shout out to John for being a great sport. My sides were sore from laughing. I hope you get a laugh from it too 🙂

I didn’t think I would be as into this palette as I am. I have alot of similar shades in my collection already. They are used, them but not super often. Having them in one handy place, I think makes you reach for things more though.  Playing with makeup is a big part of my life, but I can get a bit lazy. Makeup ruts are real people 🙂

When you’re writing a post about a makeup product and you’re day dreaming about how you are going to apply it the next time, I think that’s a sign it’s a hit!

beauty blogger ireland

There’s a good mixture of shades and finishes within the palette to keep things interesting, for a while at least.

Did you take the plunge and pick it up? Are you a red tone eyeshadow fan? I never thought I would be. I never thought they would suit my colouring. But, I have definitely been proven wrong 🙂

Have a click on the video above to see my really simple Urban Decay Naked Heat Makeup Look. Or you can watch it directly over on my YouTube channel, as always here.

Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette

Yep, I have no self control. I did not need it, nor could I justify it. (My lovely friend kindly gave me a voucher for Debenhams). So, I just bit the bullet and picked up the new Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette.

Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette

We know it’s the hype surrounding them that makes us buy into the Naked craze. I have them all and in my impractical head I thought, without the Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette, my collection was incomplete.

Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette Ireland

However, I do get a hell of alot of use out of the original one. The second and third releases get some use aswell. The Smoky version, I don’t reach for so much, it just doesn’t float my boat. My most used Naked Palette is probably the Ultimate Basics one. You can see my review of it here.

Urban Decay Ireland

I think it’s fair to say I am an Urban Decay fan! I am not saying that every shadow or product they release is perfect. Alot of the shadows have fall out when you use them. That is not always ideal. But the pigment and the texture, overall, is awesome.

Obviously I don’t have the palette very long so I can’t go too in depth from a review point of view. I can show you swatches and give you my initial thoughts on it though 🙂

It comes with a dual ended brush.

There is 12 eyeshadows within the palette. They are a mixture of seven mattes, one satin (Ounce) and four shimmers.

I have swatched them from left to right in sixes, because my arm isn’t long enough to fit all twelve comfortably ha!

We have here Ounce, Chaser, Sauced, Low Blow, Lumbre and He Devil.

Without the flash:

Then we have, Dirty Talk, Scorched, Cayenne, En Fuego, Ashes and Ember.

Again, with the flash on:

And in natural light:

The Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette for me, is a great mix of colours and warm tones. The shadows overall, are soft and pigmented. There is a couple of mattes (for example, En Fuego and Ashes), that have to be worked with a little more. That could be the fact that they are a bit more purple in tone. I know purple is a shade that is hard to create. You can build them up to your desired intensity though. They are just not as smooth to apply as the other matte shades. Lumbre within the shimmers, needs to be built up too, it’s a not as densely pigmented. Generally though, I am liking what I see and cannot wait to play around with all the colours. There will definitely be a YouTube video with some sort of the Naked Heat look asap on my channel here 🙂

You can buy the Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette now in the flagship store on Grafton Street and in Debenhams. Debenhams also have it online here. It will set you back €47.50.

Have you picked it up? Are you going to?

I’ve always had a bit of an obsession with blue eyeliner, but as of late, it has gotten a bit out of control 🙂 I am perfectly OK with my obsession. It is a bit of fun, and adds a bit of interest to a simple makeup look.

top irish beauty bloggerThe 80’s called and said, ‘Well done you’re doing a better job with it than we did!’ 🙂

Aqua or turquoise tend to be my blue eyeliner shades of choice, but I do dabble in other hues.

My most recent favourite and probably the one that gets the most questions, is the Inglot AMC Gel Liner in 70.

Blue Eyeliner

This is more of a matte sky blue.

Inglot gel liners are some of the best I’ve ever used. They last so well and come in a plethora of colours. I use this mostly in my waterline for a fun pop of colour. But a slick of it on the top lash line and lashings of mascara, looks awesome too!

irish beauty blog

TOP TIP: If your gel liner is starting to dry out, use something like Inglot Duraline. (Review here). Or Paese Drop & Fix to bring it back to life.

The shade that sparked my turquoise obsession was the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Pencil in ‘Electric’. beauty blog irelandThis is just the perfect vivid turquoise shade with a bit of sparkle I have ‘Gonzo’ too which is similar, but matte.

The Urban Decay Pencils are super creamy and last really well. A lot of more affordable brands do their own awesome version of this shade.

I have two here from Essence and Note Cosmetics that I love aswell.

I use this shade the same as I would the sky blue. On the top lash line and in the waterline. I love to smudge it out on the lower lash line too, even with some matching shadow on top to intensify it.

Now I can’t talk about blue eyeliner and not throw navy into the mix. It’s such a great alternative to black or brown.

I did have a liquid one, but I seem to have misplaced it (duh). I love a navy winged line, I think it looks great on all eye colours. It adds a hint of something different without being over the top dramatic. It works beautifully in the water line, and on the lower lash line too though. These ones are from Barry M and another one of the Essence Longlasting Eye Pencils.

I would like to thank my lovely blogging pal Sinéad from The Beautiful Truth for inspiring this post. She has been killing the blue liner at the mo. And the lovely Yav aka Makeup Monster. I had put a pic of all of the blue in my collection up on my Instagram a little while ago. It was her that told me I need to write a post. Thanks gals 🙂

The only question left to ask is….would you rock blue eyeliner?
