My August favourites are all beauty related. It was a bit of a shit month personally, but beauty wise, it was pretty awesome ๐Ÿ™‚

August Favourites

I was definitly a slave to Urban Decay through August. They have has some epic releases though so I couldn’t help and jump on board.

I have a post about the Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette here, so I won’t ramble on about it too much. This has all the deets. And, I did a makeup look with it here, so I got you covered if you want to see it being put to the test.

Since doing those posts though I did add to my Heat collection with the 24/7 Glide On Eye Liner in Torch (which I keep calling Scorch, duh). You can get it from the Debenhams website here.

I have been also digging the Naked Skin, The Illumizer Beauty Pressed Powder. This is on the Debenhams website here. My lovely blogging buddy Sue from (itscherrysue) presented me this in the pub at the start of August. How very kind of her.

My other August favourites consist of the Tarte Shape Tape Concealer (review here), this was another lovely gift. The Benefit Brow Tones brow gel, this stuff is really interesting. Again, it’s on the Debenhams website here.

I received some NYX goodies in the post a couple of weeks ago. I had some single shadows of the same tones already myself, so I really fancied playing with them all together. This is where the Nyx Cosmetics Eye Makeup Look came about. I popped the camera on and sure didn’t I film it ๐Ÿ™‚

I didn’t do a whole face of one brand, because I didn’t think I had enough product to warrant it. But I did have some cheek, mascara and lip products to add into the mix too. So, I added them in to finish off the look.

Nyx Cosmetics Eye Makeup Look

I’ll list all the goodies below, just in case anything takes your fancy:

  • Hot Single Eyeshadow in ‘LOL’.
  • Prismatic Eyeshadow in ‘Sunset Daze’.
  • Hot Single Eyeshadow in ‘Heat’.
  • Prismatic Eyeshadow in ‘Golden Peach’.
  • Sweet Cheek Blush Palette.
  • Voluptuous Lush Lashes Mascara.
  • Highlight & Contour Pro Palette Palette (I have a review of this here).
  • Mauve Lipliner.
  • Soft Matte Lip Cream in ‘Stockholm’ all over the lips.
  • Soft Matte Lip Cream in ‘Tokyo’ just in the middle.

Luckily Boots have us covered in the NYX department now. In the bigger stores at least. We can get our hands on nearly the whole range. You can of course buy from them online here too.

This NYX Cosmetics eye makeup look ended up being a little bit more ‘out there’ than I would generally go for. But, I was actually really happy with it how it came out. The single eyeshadows are really lovely and easy to work with.

As always you click the video above to this really simple come together or you can click here to watch it directly on my YouTube channel.

Let me know what you think. Would you rock an orange eye look?

Thanks,

Gemma.

Myself and John have only gone and vlogged! In the outside world! Well kind of. We went for a spa weekend in Mount Wolseley hotel in Carlow for my birthday.

top irish beauty blog

Since we bought a fancy vlogging camera a while ago (you can see it in my previous favourites post here). We thought we should put it to good use and film our spa weekend. Now this is a very new medium for me and especially for John although he seems to be more comfortable in front of the camera ha! I am used to just sitting on a chair in a room on my own babbling away about makeup with no one there. This is definitely out of my comfort zone. But, I wanted to challenge myself and I love watching vlogs so wanted to give it a go.

Have a click on the video above or click here to directly watch on my YouTube channel. Obviously, it’s just a chilled weekend in a hotel, so it’s nothing groundbreaking. You can see John’s impressive craft beer selection, that he brought because he couldn’t decide what he wanted ๐Ÿ™‚ This picture was amongst the footage, so I thought I would add it in as a tribute to him ha!

And of course the hotel, what we ate and the spa:

We also did a bit of exploring on the way back to Dublin, so that’s in there too.

I wanted a spa weekend for my birthday, but didn’t want to go all out. If money was no object I would have been in Galgorm ๐Ÿ™‚ We got a really good deal on Deal Rush for Mount Wolseley. We had a lovely weekend and the staff were super nice, but I can’t say I would recommend it if you were paying full price. Also, the spa is a separate entity within the hotel so you have to pay extra to use the facilities, I thought that was a bit unusual.

We are very new to this so be kind. I would love to hear what you think though and if you like this sort of thing. The beauty talk isn’t going anywhere, this is just hopefully something new to add in to keep things fresh.
