I’ve had the Rimmel Brow Shake Filling Powder in my possession a while now. Actually, I’ve been calling it the Brow This Way Soft Powder, which is what is written on the packaging. But, after googling it to find a Boots link, I couldn’t find anything by that name.

Rimmel Brow Shake Filling Powder

Turns out they call it the Rimmel Brow Shake Filling Powder everywhere! Anyhow, I digress 🙂 This is a new (ish) brow powder from Rimmel.

Rimmel Brown Shake

It comes in a little bottle, with it’s own applicator inside. I picked up the shade 002 Medium Brown, which is a pretty ok match for my brows. It does come in four shades though ranging from black to blonde.

It reminds me very much of a powder eye liner. It has the same type of flat, but rounded applicator on the lid.

The premise is you shake up the powder product onto the applicator while the packaging is still closed and then it is loaded up to fill your brows in with.

It has a shaker ball within the lid, which I find a bit odd. If it was going to help keep the powder separated, surely it should be in the container itself? Perhaps I have the complete wrong end of the stick about how it works and if I do, I apologise 🙂

The powder itself packs alot of punch which is great. The medium shade has a greyish undertone too which I always like as well. It seems to adhere to the skin well and lasts too.

For me, I find the packaging and the applicator or the Rimmel Brow Shake doesn’t really work. If you have fabulous full brows (like Cara in the promo ads), I think this would work quite well for you. You can just fill in any gaps lightly really quickly with it and comb through to take away any excess with a spooley and, you’d be good to go. For my struggling brows, the sponge applicator is just too big and rounded. It picks up and applies too much product. I need more precision and have more control over my application.

I find the sponge can drop alot of the powder too on the way from the bottle to your face, which can be a tad messy.

It works ok on my ‘better brow’, which I am showing here. On my right brow, it’s a bit of a disaster!

Overall, I like the powder within. Just for me, the packaging and execution doesn’t really work. You can find the Rimmel Brow Shake Filling Powder in Boots in store on online for €7.99 here. Have you tried it?

I filmed this on St Patrick’s Day. I decided to be lazy during the day and just watched the parade on the TV and veg out. For the evening though, myself, John and some friends went for some festive drinks 🙂 So, I blarred the music, turned the camera on and filmed myself doing my makeup. You know a love a get ready with me style video. This is my night out makeup look on behalf of St Paddy!

I wanted an excuse to use my new Stila Magnificent Metals Glitter & Glow Liquid Eyeshadow in ‘Kitten Karma’.

I bought mine off the Stila website directly here. It pains me to say it cost over €30 to get it shipped here, but it was sold out everywhere else. So, I took the hit, because I had major fomo 🙂

My first official video of 2017 comes in the form of my Makeup Favourites for the year gone by.

top irish beauty blog

I thought rather than just show you my makeup favourites, I would show you them in action too. I picked my most used products and created a really simple ‘me’ look that I usually end up doing when I don’t know what to do. Some of the products were new in 2016, some were new to me for the year and then some are just favourites that I always gravitate towards because I know they work.

Makeup Favourites 2016

I’ve written blogposts for a hell of alot of these, so I’ll try list as many as I can in case you want to know more about a specific product.

  • Hylamide HA Blur Primer. Review here.
  • L’Oréal Infallible 24HR Matte Foundation. Review here.
  • Nyx Micro Brow Pencil. Review here.
  • theBalm Put A Lid On It Eyeshadow Primer. Review here.theBalm Put A Lid On It Eyelid Primer
  • Urban Decay Naked Ultimate Basics Palette. Post here.
  • Sleek Diamond In The Rough Palette. Blog post about it here.
  • Catrice Glam & Doll Waterproof Mascara. Review here.
  • Too Faced Born This Way Concealer. I have a review here.
  • Wet n Wild Dual Ended Contour Stick. First impression video is here.
  • Max Factor Creme Puff Blush in ‘Nude Mauve’. I have a comparison post here.
  • Nyx Highlight and Contour Palette. First impressions and swatches here.

Phew, I think that’s everything 🙂

In the video here, you’ll see me using everything, but the finished look, looks a bit like this. I think it definitely sums up my go to makeup favourites for 2016. And, I do love a good before and after picture!

I say it in video form too, but just to write it down too. Thank you so much for everything over the year. Beautynook (and myself) grew up alot over 2016. I am excited to see what 2017 has in store. Thanks for sticking around.

The Too Faced Born This Way Concealer was majorly hyped when it first came out!

Too Faced Born This Way Concealer

I am way late to the party that’s for sure, but I did get there in the end 🙂

The Too Faced Born This Way Concealer is meant to be a ‘naturally radiant concealer’.

Too Faced Ireland

It’s said to ‘vanish the appearance of dark circles, blur the look of lines and wrinkles for complete coverage’. It contains coconut water and hyaluronic acid.

You get 7 grams of product in the very nicely packaged tube and it has a standard doe foot applicator.

For me, the consistency of the Too Faced Born This Way concealer is really nice and light. It blends evenly and smoothly onto the skin. I have the shade ‘very fair’, which has a more pink undertone. This is the shade I was matched up to by the lovely Elaine in Debenhams. I think it’s a good match for me.

Because the consistency is so light, I prefer to blend it in with a brush. I find a damp sponge soaks up too much of the product and you end up using way more. Here is one layer applied to one of my eyes so you can see the difference it makes.

You can see my where I have applied the concealer is definitely a tad more bright, but the darkness is still visible. I do really like the finish and how easy it is to blend though. However, I have to add a couple of layers to see a difference:

On me, I haven’t noticed any creasing or flaking throughout the day once I set it with powder. It doesn’t settle in lines and it does glide over fine ones making them look less visible.

If you don’t suffer with major darkness under your eyes, this would be a great concealer for you. It does a great job at brightening and highlighting. My dark circles are not something I am majorly concerned about. I do have some discoloration though and find I usually have to layer up this product to counteract it. Most of the time I use a colour corrector and then the concealer. I don’t mind using two products, but if you like less steps in your makeup routine, obviously this wouldn’t be ideal.

The Too Faced Born This Way Concealer is available in store and online from Debenhams here. It costs €24.

I was lucky enough to head to the Too Faced Christmas launch in Debenhams a few weeks back. They sent home with a very generous goody bag. So, I thought I would use some of the products I got to create a simple Too Faced Makeup Look 🙂

Too Faced Makeup Look

I am not using everything Too Faced, but I do have their Born This Way Concealer, Brow Quickie, their Better Than Sex mascara, the Merry Macarons Palette and the Melted Matte Liquid Lipstick in ‘Bend & Snap’. I thought since I have just some bits and pieces, I would do a look with everything rather than individual reviews.

irish beauty bloggerbeauty blogger ireland

So, I figured that warranted me calling it a Too Faced Makeup Look 🙂

I didn’t really have much of a plan going into this video. I rarely do if I’m honest. I just kind of jump in with a rough idea of the products I am going to use and do my makeup 🙂 You could, I dare say call this a festive makeup look. I centered it around the Melted Matte Liquid Lipstick in ‘Bend & Snap’. I am in love with this formula and this colour. It’s super flattering and it will jazz up any makeup look.

Too Faced is available in store from Debenhams and from their website here too. The Christmas selection is awesome. Go have a look if you’re in the market for new makeup for yourself, or you want to buy some else a cool makeup related Christmas gift.

You can watch the video as always by clicking it up above or directly on my Youtube channel here. And sure if you like it give it an oul thumbs up and subscribe 🙂

I am fairly new to the Too Faced brand. When it first came to Ireland it was stocked in Boots and I used some bits and really liked them and then it just disappeared. I think it’s safe to say it is back now with a bang. Ok, so go on give me some recommendations. What do I need in my collection from them?
