L'Oréal Infallible More Than ConcealerIt’s been a minute since I sat down a did a proper makeup review. Life got in the way of my creative juices, and people don’t swing around these parts as much as they used to. There’s more of you lovely lot interacting over on Instagram. But I love blogging, so Beautynook isn’t going anywhere, I just guess the content will not be as frequent. Tis’ the way of the online world 🙂 Anyways, enough personal rambling, I am here to talk about the new L’Oréal Infallible More Than Concealer….concealer.

I am overall a big fan of the Infallible range. The 24 Hour Matte foundation is one of my very faves, as is the Fixing Mist. I’ve done many a review over the years, some glowing, some grand and some of them not so grand.beauty blogger ireland

So how did I fare with the new L’Oréal Infallible More Than Concealer? In all honesty it falls into the grand category for me, but do hear me out.L'Oréal Infallible More Than Concealer

I think all concealers that come in a chubby tube with a larger doe foot applicator are always going to be compared to Tarte Shape Tape, case in point the Revolution Conceal & Define and now this. And let’s face it for the most part they can be pretty similar. They’re all more full coverage and have a matte finish.top irish beauty blogger

It comes in 25 shades and L’Oréal say they called it ‘More Than Concealer’, because you can use it to brighten, correct, contour and highlight. Very clever!

For me, It definitely has decent coverage. I have the shade Ivory, which is a little lighter than my natural skin tone so does brighten under the eyes for me. As you can see in these screenshots from the video I did.

Here it is in actual action:

So I like the coverage and the colour range, what don’t I like? Now remember this is complete personal opinion as I know there’s a lot of people who love this concealer. It dries down quickly so you have to work fast, thats nor a major problem for me. It’s normal with a thicker, more coverage formula. For me, it takes a lot of blending, I find a fluffy synthetic brush works best for me to do that with. I also find that even though I set it, it creases on me! This very rarely happens for me with under eye concealer, so have to mark it down for that. It also catches on any dryness you might have, which can make it even harder to blend out. These reasons tend to make me want to reach for something more trustworthy day to day. Final verdict? I like it, but I don’t love it.

I am actually giving one of these concealers away along with a whole host of other beauty goodies over on my Instagram at the time this post is published, so be sure to check that out 🙂

You can buy the L’Oréal Infallible More Than Concealer concealer now. I got mine in Boots, but actually Littlewoods seem to have the better deal on it here.

Have you tried it?

I’ve already reviewed the concealer, so it only made sense for me to get my makeup loving mitts on the Revolution Conceal & Define Foundation.

That’s my story and I’m sticking to it. If I can’t blame blogging on my need to buy makeup, what can I blame it on? 🙂 What are my thoughts on the Revolution Conceal & Define Foundation? Actually really similar to the concealer, I like it!

beauty blog ireland

It comes in 24 shades as well as different undertones which is awesome. I have the shade F4.

Revolution Conceal & Define Foundation Review

It looks like a giant version of the concealer, only it comes in a glass bottle, which is always nice, and unusual for ‘drugstore’ brand. Something to note, the bottle only contains 23ml of product. Foundation usually comes in a standard 30ml quantity. It’s an affordable product though, so I won’t mark it down for that. It comes with a doe foot applicator on the lid (very Clinique-like). Not something I am particularly a fan of, I prefer a pump, but that’s completely personal preference.top beauty blog

I think the Revolution Conceal & Define Foundation does exactly what it says on the tin. They describe it as a ‘buildable, blend-able full coverage foundation’, and I have to agree. It has a fairly thin consistency, considering it does pack a punch in the coverage department.top irish beauty blogtop beauty blog irelandtop irish blog

It means you can go in hard with it if you like a really really flawless base, or blend out a thin layer if you prefer a more medium coverage finish. For me, it blends out well with a sponge or a brush. It does dry down quickly in my opinion though so it’s best to work pretty fast with it.

It definitely has a more matte finish and I find the longevity really decent, especially on my oilier skin. It might also be good to note that it’s oil and paraben free.

Overall I am a fan of the Revolution Conceal & Define Foundation. I will reach for it in my usual rotation, which is always a good sign for me. When I test base products, sometimes I have to force myself to use them when I know I’ll be out and about for a long period of time. I trust this though. I can put one layer on during the day, or a couple if I’m going out in the evening. It works for both and I’m not afraid of it sliding off of my face after a couple of hours. It’s cheap too coming in at around the 11-12 euro mark here in Ireland. depending on where you buy it. I’m a fan 🙂

As per usual, I just thought of a concept for this video and then when into it and hoped for the best 🙂 This my affordable everyday makeup tutorial. It’s definitely more just me doing my makeup with affordable and easy to get hold of products here in Ireland. I call it a tutorial, just because it’s good for when people are searching for things online. A makeup enthusiast is what I am, not a professional 🙂

affordable everyday makeup tutorial

I kept things really simple for this affordable everyday makeup. The eyeshadow on the lid is the star of the show and then everything else just falls around it.  This pretty much just me wanting to look more awake and alive. How did I do? 🙂

Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define ConcealerI ordered the Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define Concealer along with their stick foundation and new liquid liner on a whim at like three in the morning. I couldn’t sleep so I was scrolling through Instagram and something came up about them. The trigger was pulled, and they were ordered 🙂

Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define Concealer

There is so many comparisons being made online to it and the Tarte Shape Tape Concealer. I own Shape Tape, so that was justification enough in buying it, right? Makeup Revolution are more than well known for releasing ‘dupe’ products. Mostly of more expensive brands, which they do for a much more palatable price.beauty blog ireland

The Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define Concealer is definitely a more reasonable price, coming in at €4.99! I have to admit, other than the chubby packaging it comes in, I can’t really compare it to Shape Tape. I feel like they’re two different formulas. ST is a much thicker consistency, longer wearing and more full coverage, in my humble opinion.

The Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define Concealer comes in a bucketload of shades, which is bloody awesome! 25 to be exact with different undertones to boot. I have the colour C1 which is a good match for me.top irish beauty blog

I actually like the doe-foot applicator more on the MR concealer over Shape Tape. It’s a bit smaller and easier to clean up under the eyes with.beauty blogger ireland

The consistency of this concealer is what I would describe as thick-ish. Perfect english I know. I just mean, it’s not Shape Tape thick, but it’s not runny either. It’s somewhere in the middle 🙂 You can apply a fairly light layer of it and it will give grand coverage, or you can really build up the opacity. For me, it works better in a couple of lighter layers.

top beauty blog irelandtop irish beauty blogger

It is a super drying formula, in my opinion, so that is something to note if you suffer with creasing under the eyes. It sets super quickly too, so you have to work fast with it.

irish beauty blogirish beauty blogger

I don’t get much creasing personally and always set my under my eyes, so I haven’t had a problem with it myself. Here it is in action on my skin.

Overall, I think the Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define Concealer  is a damn good, more high coverage concealer for the price point. On my skin type, I will just be sticking to using it under my eyes. I don’t think the staying power is quite there for the rest of my more oily skin.

L'Oréal Paradise Waterproof MascaraMy lash lift has finally given up which is very sad. But, it did happen around the same time I received the new L’Oréal Paradise waterproof mascara in the post. Silver linings and all that 🙂 I used the original formula while my lashes were lifted and really like it!

top beauty blogger ireland

As you will well know I use waterproof mascara pretty much exclusively. Not because of smudging necessarily, but because it just holds a curl better. And my lashes don’t curl naturally. Lash lifts help with curl so brilliantly, they also cost around €60 a session though, so when I can’t fork out, I go back to waterproof mascara.L'Oréal Paradise Waterproof Mascara

Along with the new L’Oréal Paradise Waterproof mascara. I also got the new lash primer from the same range. I don’t really have much to say about the primer really. It’s meant to help boost volume and care for your lashes at the same time. You apply a layer of it before mascara. If you have long luscious, curly lashes it might really be of benefit to you. For me, it’s just an adds product that weighs my lashes down.irish beauty sitetop irish beauty site

It does help with volume a little, but it pulls down the curl I use the eyelash curlers to create and the waterproof mascara to maintain. I prefer my lashes without it. It’s available from Boots for €15.49.

top irish beauty bloggerThe waterproof mascara however, I really really like. Like the original formula it has quite  a large bristled brush, not what I normally gravitate towards, but it works really well. The formula of this mascara is quite thick, so I find the bristles help to distribute it evenly on the lashes.

L'Oréal Paradise Waterproof Mascaratop beauty blog

For me, it gives fluttery volume. What I mean by that is,  it beefs up my lashes but not in a gloopy way ha! It gives a decent amount of length and it holds a curl really well.beauty blogirish beauty youtuber

That’s the thing I want in a mascara the most. It does get a little dry towards the end of the day, but I kind of expect that with most mascaras. I tried it on my bottom lashes a couple of times and if definitely did smudge a few hours in. I tend to be extra and use a separate mascara on my lower lashes. (Most of the time, it’s exclusively this). I know most mascaras smudge on my lower lashes so I use what I know works.

Overall though, I really like the new L’Oréal Paradise waterproof. I’ve reached for it every day since getting it without hesitation. That alone is a good sign for me. At €16.49 from Boots, I think the price is a bit sticky for a more ‘drugstore’ mascara. But having said that, it is one I can whole heartedly recommend. Have you tried it?

Top blogger ireland

Edinburgh definitely wasn’t supposed to be a shopping holiday. We were only there for two days. Myself, John and my Mam went. We explored the city (which is awesome by the way). We did some of the tourist attractions. Camera Obscura is definitely something to do if you go, and ate and drank ourselves silly. On the last day our flight was in the evening so we pottered into the city and the shopping just happened. My mother is a professional shopping in fairness so she took us all along for the ride 🙂 I ended up getting some fashion bits, beauty and homeware bits too. Compiling it all together I realised I had enough to compile a haul 🙂Edinburgh Castle

Also myself and John casually got married in Camera Obscura.

Edinburgh weekend

My brother paid for the very intimate ceremony. £2 to be exact. Don’t worry it wasn’t official, if we ever do get married I probably would’t wear a veil…or a denim jacket 🙂

Edinburgh city is really great place to shop as well as sightsee. It’s not too big so you can get around pretty easy by foot and there’s lots of great stores to peruse.

I was particularly excited to see Anthropologie. I’ve never been inside one of their stores, although I have lusted after their products online. I have seen UK YouTubers I follow with their amazing Slivered Geode Coasters. I knew I wanted at one strictly for Instagram purposes 🙂 They are 14 quid a pop! I ended up with two. My brother bought me one (wedding present ha), and then John kindly bought me one too.

I also got the prettiest monogrammed mug which was on special for £8.beauty blog ireland

You can shop the Gilded Shapes mugs here.anthropologie coasters

Primark aka Penneys got hit a little as well. They seem to do a thing where you can buy some stuff in certain stores but not in others so it’s always good to have a little looksy.

Apologies, I have no idea if any of these are available in Ireland.

I picked up two pairs of trousers.primark haulpenneys haul

I have a really similar black pair from New Look and get a lot of wear out of them so I thought I would pick up a couple more.

This super cute t shirt was £8.beauty blogger ireland

Definitely more for Spring, but you have to act fast in Penneys so this went into the basket too 🙂

I chose two of the cream eyeshadows from their newly released In The Nude Collection.penneys makeup

I actually went to the launch of this collection here in Dublin a couple of weeks ago and these were one of the products I was impressed with. They were only £2!primark makeuppenneys nude collectionbeauty blotop beauty blog

The last thing fashion related thing I bought is probably my favourite.top irish beauty blogger

Yes, they are Disney themed!!! I just fell in love with them, they’re so cute right? They have Mickey and Minnie AND lipstick kisses on them! And they were only £10. I am a child at heart for sure.top beauty blog ireland

A quick look around Superdrug just to see if they had anything different than in Dublin made me leave with two things.

Although I’ve tried a fair few items from Makeup Revolution, I’ve never tried anything from their I Heart Makeup Range. Now I’m fully aware that these are a complete rip off of Too Faced, but sure look they were cheap 🙂

The Chocolate and Peaches Palette went into my basket. It was £7.99.superdrug makeup hauli heart makeup peach palettetop beauty blogger

Keeping on the peach them then, I got the Peachy Pink Kiss Blush. This was £4.99.superdrug hauli heart makeup

I will keep you posted about how I get on with them.

I decided on this trip that I was going to keep a look out for a baker boy cap. How fashion forward of me. Initially I had bought this one before Christmas from ASOS. I bloody love it but unfortunately my giant head is too big for it as it’s made from quite a ridged material.

This striped one was spotted in Zara.zara haul

I put it on and although I liked it it’s not as universal as just a plain black one. I was about to put it back the mammy whipped it off my head and bought it. It stayed on my head for the whole day after that and I love it. Although the boys kept calling me a train conductor 🙂

I was still on a quest for a plain black one, and ended up spotting this corduroy one in Topshop.topshop haul

Because of my big mallet, I didn’t want one that was too puffy and if it had hardware I wanted it to be gold, this fit the bill perfectly.

The Mammy then spotted the same cap in pink and insisted on buying that one for me too. It’s not on the website so I can’t link it sorry.top irish beauty blog

Yes, she is a shopaholic. So now I am the proud owner of THREE baker boy hats! There’s a grey one too that she wanted to get as well, I had to reel her in at that point 🙂

The last thing I got was this little gold star and moon pendant from Topshop also.dublin beauty blog

It was on sale for £3 and I absolutely love it.

And that’s it for my Edinburgh fashion, beauty and makeup haul. We had the best time there. Myself and John are already planning to go back. Have you been? Click here to check out our Brussels vlog.
