Yep, we’re over half way through the year, no need to panic, although I am kind of! Another month down means a monthly favourites round up. So here is my July favourites in all of their glory 🙂

irish beauty blog

My July favourites for 2018 consist of a good mix of products and rambles, if I do say so myself.

irish beauty blogger

For some reason, when it comes to these roundups, I always end up talking a lot of beauty nonsense, so I apologise in advance 🙂

As always I’ll try link everything I talk about so you can have a gander if you so choose. Please do check out the video above or here though. I go into more detail and hopefully explain in not too many rambles why everything individually made it into my July favourites.

Missoma initial hammered disc and small bobble necklace. It’s free to get them engraved.

My little star huggie earrings are from Betty & Biddy and the second pair is from Ali Express.

Lancôme Le Vie Le Belle Eclat. I’ve linked the Eau de Parfum, it’s always a much better investment I think. I got sent the Eau de Toilette and it’s still really nice though. As I mention, I am loving layering with other more deeper scents to ‘Summer’ them up a bit 🙂

July Favourites

Super Facialist Rose Hydrate Miracle Makeover Facial Oil is the next product in my July favourites. You can have a closer look at this here.

July Favourites

An oldie, but a rejuvenated goodie is my second last favourite, the Maybelline The Eraser Eye in Ivory. They have released more shades in the range now which is brilliant. It is good to note though the shade Ivory is the lightest. Perfect for my skin, but definitely swatch is you’re lighter than me.

My last fave for July is the Pixi Glow-y Gossamar Duo in Subtle Sunrise. I have not shut up about this, I am so sorry 🙂

And that’s it. Let me know what you’ve been loving. Thanks as always and hope you have an awesome August.

Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink Un-NudesThis isn’t really a review, it’s more a swatch and tell. I do this a lot when I get things through the door and can’t wait to get stuck in a show you a product. These are the new-ish Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink Un-Nudes liquid lipsticks.

Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink Un-Nudes

Now don’t despair if you clicked for a full review. I have you covered as I already did a post here when the Matte Ink range were initially released. Spoiler alert, I am a fan of this formula. I will say it can vary a little from colour to colour though. Also, I am not really going through a bright or a matte lip phase. But when I am, these are front and centre, ready to go.

I have five shades to show you of the Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink Un-Nudes liquid lipsticks. I believe there’s ten shades in total in the collection looking at the Maybelline website. We seem to have gotten the most wearable shades available to us here in Ireland. They are called Un-Nude because Maybelline said they are more ‘unconventional neutral shades’.

First up we have ‘Driver’, this is the lightest of the bunch. It’s a nude brown.

Second is ‘Poet’. It’s a more peachy nude.

Third up is ‘Seductress’. This is a cool toned mauve-y nude shade.

Fourth is ‘Amazonian’. This is a deeper terracotta brown.

Then finally number five. This is called ‘Ruler’ and it’s definitely not nude. I would describe it as a berry toned mauve.

Overall, I think there’s some interesting shades to choose from in the Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink Un-Nudes Collection. I think my favourites are going to be, actually the last three Seductress, Amazonian and Ruler. They suit my colouring and my makeup taste best.

Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink Un-Nudes

They are available now in store from Boots and Superdrug. We can also buy them from Feel Unique. They have a couple of other shades from the collection which we can’t get in store here. Are you interested?

This is a bit of an all over the place February Favourites!

february favourites

The cabin fever has gotten to me and the tangents are mighty. Hope you don’t mind a bit of rambling 🙂

february favouritesAs I write this, the snow is still coming down strong and after three days indoors, I miss civilisation. Ok, I am being totes dramatic and I hope everyone who stumbles across this post in real time is safe and warm. Oh and has enough bread and milk to keep you going. 🙂

In my cabin fevered state, I managed to add in a favourite that I spoke about already in my January favourites. I could have edited it out, but then I thought, I loved it enough to talk about it twice, so I must really like it!

irish beauty blog

It’s all beauty related chatter for February favourites 2018. I did try to see if I had anything else to add into the pot, but I want it to be genuine. Beauty is the thing I am consistently trying, hence the monthly turn around.irish beauty blogger

As always I’ll list and link everything below, just in case anything takes your fancy and you want a closer look.

Estée Lauder Double Wear Nude Foundation.

Maybelline Super Stay Full Coverage Foundation.

Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Primer.

Urban Decay All Nighter Concealer.

Huda Beauty Smokey Obsessions Eyeshadow Palette.

Kérastase Balancing Shampoo.

top irish beauty blog

And I think that’s it. It felt like so much more when I was talking to camera about them ha! I really hope everyone had a lovely February. March is off to a bit of a miserable snowy start, so surely it has to be all up from here?

Oh here is my Edinburgh haul in case you want to check it out!

As always thanks for clicking, I really appreciate it. Let me know if there was anything you were loving through the month of February.

Maybelline Super Stay Full Coverage FoundationI had seen the Maybelline Super Stay Full Coverage Foundation advertised on their Instagram page. I often take screenshots of product, to either spread the word, or to remind me to keep an eye out for them in store.Maybelline Super Stay Full Coverage Foundation

Maybelline say that it: ‘delivers 24-hour wear for concentrated coverage and a flawless finish that doesn’t fade or shift all day’.irish beauty blogI was in Dundrum Shopping Centre a few weeks ago and remembered to go to the stand and have a look. I was actually surprised we had it. We don’t always get the new releases as quickly as they do in the states.irish beauty blogger
I’ve been using it on and off for the past few weeks. Blindly, I picked up the shade Ivory. I didn’t swatch, I just picked it up assuming it was my shade. It’s probably a shade or even two too dark for me. There is a lighter shade in the collection, so if you’re a similar skin tone to me (NC20), get that one.

It definitely is a medium to full coverage foundation. The consistency of it isn’t too thick though. For example, I reviewed the Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation & Concealer here a while ago. This is a full coverage foundation and I find it harder to work with because it’s thicker in formula. I also find I can feel it on my skin even after it settles. I don’t find this with the Super Stay.

For me, the Maybelline offering is easy to blend for a more full coverage foundation. It doesn’t dry too fast so I can use a brush or a sponge with it and they both work really nicely. It covers redness and applies well over textured skin.top irish beauty site

The finish isn’t too drying either. I would class it as a satin matte finish. Not quite satin, not quite matte 🙂 It lasts reasonably well on me too. I do get some t- zone shine after a few hours (with primer and powder). There’s no oxidisation or major movement though.

Overall I really like it and find myself reaching for it a lot since I bought it.
I picked up the Maybelline Super Stay Full Coverage Foundation from Boots for €15.99. I think that’s a bit steep for a more ‘drugstore’ foundation. However I found it online here for €11.99. Have you tried it?

I had to do it at least once! When Colourpop announced they are now shipping internationally, my heart skipped, skipped a beat 🙂

My heart then proceeded to drop when I saw what they were charging to ship internationally. $25! And that doesn’t include custom clearance! But like the good little makeup fiend that I am, I couldn’t stop thinking about ordering. They give you $5 off if you sign up to their newsletter so I thought, feck it! I’ll even just do it the once and take the hit. Then, I proceeded to go over the Irish customs limit too (I think anything over $25 puts you in the danger zone of having to pay tax. I just couldn’t justify all of that money to ship it over and only getting a couple of things. I wanted to get my monies worth. I risked it and it paid off. I did not have to pay customs on the package. But that doesn’t happen all the time, I think it really is just the luck of the draw. If you fancy fancy seeing what I got. Here’s my first ever Colourpop haul.

Colourpop really know how to package a…package! The box is so pretty.

The packaging on the products themselves is really nice too.

I picked up two of their Super Shock eyeshadows.

‘Game Face’ which is a penny bronzed metallic colour.

And ‘LALA’, which is a rose gold metallic shadow.

They both cost $5 each.

I picked up one of the Supershock Cheek Highlighters.

This is in the shade ‘Lunchmoney’.

Colourpop describe it as a soft light gold with a reflective duo chrome finish.

These cost $8 each.

The powder products feel like nothing I have ever used before. They’re nearly wet to the touch and have a gel like consistency when you apply them to the skin. Colourpop tell you that the formula is best applied with the fingertips.

I chose one of their Crème Gel Colour Liners to try.

This is in the colour ‘Show Me’.

And then, two Ultra Matte Lips.

‘Bumble’.

The Ultra Matte Lips are $6.

Colourpop haul dunzo 🙂

I placed my order with Colourpop on the 12th of July. They did give me a USPS tracking number and I could track my package up until it went on to the international flight. Then, I couldn’t get an update on it. I received my order from my regular postman, on the 26th of July. My total bill was $66 with the $5 discount. That worked out at €61.31 and I paid with Paypal. As I mentioned already though, I was lucky customs let the package through and I didn’t have to pay an extra penalty.
What do you think? Are you tempted? The products themselves are really reasonable priced, I think. If they brought down the shipping, I think I would be more than happy to shop with Colourpop again. First impressions are really good, I like the products I got, alot 🙂

If you follow me on Snapchat (my username is Beautynook if you don’t, shameless plug), you’ll know I’ve been testing out the new Rimmel Super Gel Top Coat pretty vigorously.

Rimmel Super Gel Top Coat

I’ve used it about 5 times on top of different branded nail polish and base coats and I pretty much had the same outcome with them all. Boots describe it as “Rimmels first ever 2- step Super Gel nail polish for superior colour and shine that lasts for up to 14 days. Easy to apply, it dries like a regular nail polish, no UV lamps needed.”

It has the standard Rimmel nail polish packaging, which I am a fan of.

rimmel irelandI love that the brush is quite large, flat and rounded at the tip. For me, this makes application easier.

Just to show you the process quickly:

Here’s my bare nails.

Here’s the base coat applied.

irish beauty bloggerTwo layers of nail polish.

top irish beauty blogI let the nail polish dry for a few minutes before applying the Rimmel Super Gel Top Coat.

top irish beauty bloggerYou can see, it definitely adds a lovely glass like shine to your nails and really finishes them off. It’s easy enough to apply and doesn’t drag or move the nail polish underneath. It also dries reasonably quickly, which is a plus too! I painted my nails in the evening time, so the next morning, they were still looking good!

My Nails The Next Day After Application.

top beauty blogger ireland

My Nails On Technically The Third Day.

After the second full day of wear, you can see (especially on my pinkie finger), bubbles have started to form.

By the third full day, this had happened.

Rimmel Super Gel Top Coat_2071The nail polish on my little finger had completely come loose and just peeled off. Not ideal!

Overall, and after testing out the Rimmel Super Gel Top Coat on numerous occasions, I really can’t say it lasts as well as gel UV nail polish. I got pretty much 3/4 days before it started to crack and I was at the stage where I could just peel it off my nails (I do really enjoy doing that though) :). For me, I will use it because I have it, but I won’t be repurchasing it any time soon.

You can get the Rimmel Super Gel Top Coat from Boots in store or online here. It will set you back €7.99 so definitely not the cheapest version on the market at the minute.
