Mac CosmeticsI wasn’t going to do this just because I haven’t really played with them enough. But, a few of you asked to see swatches of my new lovely Mac Shiny Pretty Things Party Favours. I have the gold ones. There is also a pink version to choose from in Brown Thomas.

MAC Shiny Pretty Things Party Favours - Gold

My lovely mate Cherry Sue and I were in BT perusing the Mac Christmas ranges. She decided to treat herself to the gold Mac Shiny Pretty Things Party Favours. But, she also very kindly picked me one up too. For no reason other than she’s sound. And yes, I cried, so thanks Sue 🙂Mac Cosmetics Ireland

Mac know how to do Christmas. And this year is no different. Yes, I said the C word. Halloween is over, it’s officially the festive season. Get your garlands out 🙂irish beauty blog

A full sized Mac pigment and glitter is €22 and I feel like although they’re awesome, you’ll never get through an entire pot in a lifetime. Unless you are hardcore or a makeup artist. So I love that they’re doing minis now. The minis on their own are €12. The Mac Shiny Pretty Things Party Favours in gold and pink are €30, so you make a decent saving. There are four pots per pack. Try saying that really fast.MAC Shiny Pretty Things Party Favours - Gold

You get two pigments and two glitters within the pack. I ripped mine open quick smart when I got it, so I just have a stock photo here for reference.Mac Cosmetics Pigment

From left to right we have: English Gilt (pigment), Gold (glitter), Copper (glitter), Shiny Time (pigment).

I applied the pigments dry with a flat brush. I did used some setting spray with the glitters, just to adhere them to the skin.

I will 100% be showing you these in action on my eyeballs over on Instagram over the coming weeks, so pop over there if you want to see that. Are you going to pick anything up from the Christmas range? I think there’s a lot of great beauty lover present ideas within it for sure.

As I am writing this, the sun is shining and it’s May. Which means it’s officially Spring, which means no constant rain and being miserable…just some of the time :). A new month also means a look back over the previous month. So, here is a run down of some of my April Favourites for 2018.

april favourites

How was your April? Mine wasn’t too bad all in all. I had some good times and made some good memories.

april favourites

My April Favourites consist of mostly skincare actually with a snippet of makeup, fashion and dare I say some political views as well. Definitely not something I talk about a lot. If I do it’s mostly on Twitter. I don’t shy away, don’t get me wrong, there’s just people out there doing a way better job at it than I ever could. But I think May, for me, for us as woman of Ireland is so very important. Please make sure you are registered to vote, do your research and make an informed decision.

Ok, let’s talk about some silly stuff now 🙂

My April Favourites definitely reflect the changes in the seasons, I think. As always I talk much more in depth in the video above or here. But I’ll give you a quick run down and link to everything I can.

  • I’ve reviewed the Catrice Lashes To Kill Pro Mascara here if you want to see it in action.

  • Then finally my bag was a gift from my friend Ella of Siopaella. She sourced them in Morocco and sells them in store too.

And that is it for another instalment of April Favourites. Let me know if you like these types of posts, it’s always good to get constructive feedback.

irish beauty siteI did my beauty favourites for 2017 in video form here not too long ago, if you fancy a beauty hit. There was non beauty related bits and bobs that I wanted to give a shout out to though aswell. So here I am writing a blogpost all about them 🙂

I actually scrolled through my Instagram feed for inspiration for this. I adore the beauty world, but I do have other interests too. I’m not always comfortable talking fashion for all to see. I’m not particularly comfortable within myself. But I love fashion too. Now I don’t mean keeping up with all trends or buying all the latest designer releases, (maybe one day). I mean just putting outfits together, making myself feel a bit better when I look in the mirror. My lovely friend Lorraine of the awesome blog (John It’s Only Makeup) gave me a bit of a boost and told me I should start doing ootd’s (Outfit Of The Day’s) on Instagram. I’ve done a few over the past couple of months.

irish beauty blog

These boots are definitely on my non beauty favourite list. Now I will say these are not the best quality over the knee boot out there and won’t last the test of time. But, they fit over my larger calves, have a bit of a heel, are comfortable to walk and stand in and they were a bloody bargain!

irish beauty bloggerI actually picked them up my mistake. Sinéad from The Beautiful Truth was chatting about a similar pair she got from New Look, so I went on to have a look and thought these were them. They aren’t, but they were on sale for €29.99 here, originally €59.99. From a quality point of view, they aren’t worth the original price. But on sale, they are!

Another shoe favourite is from a different spectrum. I picked these up simply because they are sparkly.

non beauty favouritesI got a lot questions about these on social media. They’re from Penneys and they were €7 just before Christmas. I’ve literally worn them everyday since I picked them up and they’re lasting well. They have a rubber sole too which is handy if you need to pop out the bins or something like that. Looking at them makes me smile 🙂

Next up is another Penneys buy. I only picked this sweatshirt up for €10 a few weeks ago, so it’s probably still there.

non beauty favouritesI’ve been just using it for loungewear ( I have it on as I type). It’s so comfy, washes really well and sure it makes you a fully fledged unicorn trainer.

I have been a bit obsessed with buying costume jewellery on eBay. Specifically earrings.

beauty blog ireland

They take an age to come and there is definitely hits and misses. But when something comes that you actually like and it only cost a couple of euro, you feel pretty damn smug. I always use PayPal and order from reputable sellers. I also never spend a alot.

Another jewellery fave has been this Casio watch John kindly bought me for Christmas.

beauty blogger irelandI did choose it myself from Asos. I like a more masculine watch.

top irish beauty bloggerI also thought the rusty rose gold colouring was a little different to what I’ve had before, so I was just drawn to it. A watch to me is more an accessory than a necessity. And I think this fits my style quite nicely.

My last favourite is wine. Now if you know me, you’ll know this is a very new scenario.

top irish beauty blog

For a long time, I was a vodka and diet 7up kinda gal. It’s all I drank. Since John has gotten really into the Irish craft beer scene though, I’ve become a little bit more adventurous. I’ve realised I actually like the taste of gin. It has become my tipple of choice. I’ve also acquired a taste for Prosecco. And now I am dipping my toe into wine. Just a little bit and only white or Rosé. My palette isn’t distinguished enough for red. But I find myself trying to do a little research and think more about it and I’m quite enjoying it.

And that’s it! There’s some of my non beauty related favourites of the minute. Let me know what you think.

I filmed this on St Patrick’s Day. I decided to be lazy during the day and just watched the parade on the TV and veg out. For the evening though, myself, John and some friends went for some festive drinks 🙂 So, I blarred the music, turned the camera on and filmed myself doing my makeup. You know a love a get ready with me style video. This is my night out makeup look on behalf of St Paddy!

The Bourjois Palette Le Smoky and Les Nudes are the newest eyeshadow palette from French brand Bourjois.

Bourjois Palette Les Nudes

Both of the palettes come in cool plastic packaging with a magnetic lid.

Bourjois Palette Le Smoky

It is similar to the packaging on their Dèlice de Soleil Bronzer.

Bourjois Ireland

The lid contains a really good sized mirror which you can twist around 360 degrees.

irish beauty bloggerbeauty blog ireland

They also come with a dual sponged tipped applicator. This doesn’t really float my boat if I’m honest though.

As you can of course tell from the names, one of the palettes is meant to be more suited to smoky eye looks. The other more suited to more neutral eye looks. Smoky I can get on board with, the Nudes, not so much. But, let me show you both in action 🙂

First up we have the Bourjois Palette Le Smoky:

top irish beauty blog

Irish beauty blog

It contains eight shades ranging from an ice white, silver, grey, blue, purple to black.

irish beauty youtube

Then, we have the Bourjois Palette Les Nudes.

top irish beauty blogger

Again there are eight shades in this palette, ranging from white, silver, purple, gold and brown. To me, this palette isn’t really representative of nude/neutral eyeshadow shades at all. The last four shades, maybe, but the first four shades are icy cool toned colours that I don’t really associate with the term nude (in eyeshadow talk anyways 🙂 ).

top beauty blogbeauty youtube ireland

Both of these palettes are full of shimmer and glitter. If you don’t like shimmer, you wont like them whatsoever! They both have one matte shade that is the darkest colour in both of the palettes. After giving both of them a whirl, I will say the shadows are ok. They feel soft to the touch and they definitely apply more opaque with your fingers. But, you can get pay off (not as much though) with a brush. I used a mixture of both of them here:

They aren’t the easiest to work with and there is fallout and it’s sparkly, so be prepared to have to clean that up. Also, the colour arrangements are a bit odd, I think. And there is a lack of transition colours, so you will probably have to incorporate some other shadows in if you creating more of a look with them. They do last well on the eyelids, well at least they did on mine with a primer underneath.

The Bourjois Palette Le Smoky and Les Nudes are available in Boots stores or online here now. They retail for €15.99 a piece. But, Bourjois have a 2 for €15 deal on at the minute. So if you like what you see you better work fast 🙂 I think that price point is much more suited to them personally.

A Chatterbox Haul

Over the past couple of weeks I have picked up a few affordable makeup bits in between Christmas shopping for friends and family. I got some really nice goodies so I thought I would share them with you in case you need some shopping inspiration 🙂

First up I went to Boots, one of my favourite places to be. The waft of perfume as you walk through the door just puts me in a good mood.

I picked up Rimmel’s Lasting Finish Nude foundation.

Rimmel Lasting Finish Nude Foundation

This is a new version of their normal Lasting Finish which is a firm fave here at Chatterbox. This is a lighter version of it. It has a good medium coverage and an SPF of 20 which is great for an everyday foundation.

Rimmel Lasting Finish Nude Swatch

So far I have been loving this, it’s not cakey, the 100 Ivory shade is a good match for my pale skin and it has been lasting really well on my also oily skin. So far a good buy. This set me back €8.99 in Boots

I got one of Maybelline’s new Color Tattoo Leather Effect Cream shadows to give a go next.

Maybelline Color Tattoo Leather Effect Vintage Plum 97

This is in the colour “Vintage Plum 97”.

I have so many of the Color Tattoos and love most of them. This one is nice, I really like the colour, it makes a great base for plum, brown or purple eye looks. It is matte with no shimmer in it at all. I cannot say it really looks like leather though.

Leather Effect Vintage Plum Swatch

The Color Tattoos are €7.49 in Boots.

Another cream shadow creeped its way into my Boots basket…ooops 🙂

Max Factor Excess Shimmer 25 Bronze

This is the Max Factor Excess Shimmer in “25 Bronze”. I am in love with this, let me tell you that from the getgo.

Oh my god the pigment is amazing, a tiny bit of this goes such a long way. The texture is so cool, it’s soft and nearly whipped to the touch unlike the Color Tattoos. It is so easy to blend also.

Max Factor excess shimmer bronze swatch

I can wear this just on its own without a shadow on top. I love the colour too, it’s bronze but with a coppery feel, right up my street.  These cost €9.99 from Boots

Last thing I picked up in Boots was the Maybelline Instant Anti-Age, The Eraser Eye in “Nude”.

Maybelline The Eraser Eye

This is a sponge applicator under eye concealer for cancelling out under eye circles.

The Eraser Eye Swatch

I’m on the fence about this product so far, I think I need to keep using it before I give a true opinion. It costs €11.99

Soooo, then I did some damage over on Cloud 10 Beauty They had 20% off their whole site for black Friday, I could not resist!! I firstly picked up the cult product that is The Balm Mary-Lou Manizer.

The Balm Mary-Lou ManizerMary-Lou Manizer

So many of you told me I needed this over on social media, so thanks 🙂 It is such a pretty gold toned highlighter. It is ridiculously shimmery but there is not lumpy sparkle in it which I think is what makes it so pretty and wearable.

Mary Lou-Manizer swatch

You don’t have to look like a disco ball to get a highlighted effect. You can pick this up from Cloud 10 for €19.00

I picked up a Blank Canvas Cosmetics brush.

Blank Canvas Cosmetics E30 Brush

This is the E30 eyebrow brush. I wanted an angled eyebrow brush with a spooly on the end and this fit the bill, also the ends are purple how cute 🙂 This cost me €6.95

I got one of the Sleek Eye and Cheek Palette in “See You At Midnight 028”.

Sleek Eye & Cheek Palette See You At Midnight 028028 See You At Midnight

I have only gotten my hands on this today so I have yet to try it out properly, but on first look and swatch I really like it.

See You At Midnight Swatch

It is very winter appropriate. Plums, purple, cranberry and gold galore. There is two blush shades “Antique” in the top left corner and “Pomegranate” in the bottom right and then 4 eyeshadows from The Vintage Romance iDivine palette. Can’t wait to get stuck into it 🙂 I think this is the best deal out of everything at €12.95

I got another Sleek product from Cloud 10 Beauty.

Eau La La Liner Cocoa 327Cocoa 327

Another Eau La La Liner to add to my collection. This is the shade “Cocoa 327”. Nothing much to say about it, it’s a matte chocolate brown eyeliner.

Eau La La Liner Cocoa

I love these liners, I have them in so many colours, but not in dark brown so I picked one up. This will set you back €5.99

I also got a couple of other random things so I thought I would throw them into the list too for good measure.

I got this when I  was buying the other bits on Cloud 10.

Daniel Galvin Junior Hangover Hair

This is the Daniel Galvin Junior Hangover Hair. My hair needs a bit of TLC and this was cheap and organic so I thought I would give it a go, no real thought process there. I will report back if it is any good. It is €4.49

Lastly, these are definitely not beauty based, but they are beautiful 🙂

New Look Teach ShoesNew Look Asos Shoes

These are New Look heels that I ordered from Asos when they were having 20% off for black Friday. I just thought they were so festive and sparkly and also the heel is thick and respectable not a look I go for very often 🙂 Full price, these are €39.99, so not bad at all, I am sure I will get alot of use out of them over the festive season.

I think that’s it, if you have made it to the end of this let me know, I know it’s a rambly one 🙂 Did you get any amazing bargains in the sales yet?

Thanks so much for reading and for the support.

Gemma
