Sleek Makeup products have donned my makeup collection before we could even get our mitts on them easily here in Ireland. I am a big fan so it’s great to see the brand in so many pharmacies around the country now.
I am predicting their newest Sleek Makeup iDivine eyeshadow palette called ‘A New Day’ is going to be a resounding hit if I base it on all of you lovely people asking about in on social media ๐
I have it in my possession less than a week and I committed a beauty blogging cardinal sin…I used it before taking pictures on my DSLR camera, the shame, oh the shame. I just couldn’t wait to dig in though, so will you forgive me? Ok now that confession is out of the way lets dig into the important bit, the swatching ๐
As with all iDivine eyeshadow palettes from Sleek Makeup, there are 12 eyeshadows within.
There is a great mix of mattes, shimmers and satin finish shadows, which is really appreciated. It means you don’t have to go from palette to palette when you’re creating a look. Handy for travelling too. I always use an eyeshadow primer. I have oily lids so it’s a complete necessity for me. With a primer added though the Sleek Shadows tend to stay put on me really well.
I’ve swatched them left right:
‘Sun is Shining’.
‘Brightside’.
‘Daydreamer’.
‘Let It Go’.
‘Don’t Worry’. (my personal fave ๐ )
‘Be Happy’.
‘Feelin’ Good’.
‘Silver Lining’.
‘Shine On’.
‘Carpe Diem’.
‘Believer’.
‘H-A-P-P-Y’.
How cute are the names by the way? All positive connotations. Love it ๐
The Sleek Makeup ‘A New Day’ palette will be available nationwide in stores from the 8th next Monday onwards. Just in time for Valentine’s Day, if you’re that way inclined ๐ And of course you can buy Sleek online too here from Boots and Cloud10Beauty here
The Sleek iDivine Palettes usually cost โฌ9.99 not a bad price point at all!

Yep, it’s August Favourites time, holy moly, it’s nearly Christmas!! A bit premature I know but I loves Christmas so any excuse to talk about it and I will ๐
Ok, back to the topic in hand sorry for getting distracted…it happens very easily. Anita did her August faves here, be sure to check them out.
I have a couple of new skincare faves in the month of August. Pixi’s Glow Tonic is one of them.
This toner contains ingredients like witch hazel, aloe vera, ginseng and glycolic acid to gently exfoliate the skin and remove dead skin cells. It is also meant to help with toning and firming. I think this has really helped with the texture of my skin, without completely drying it out. I am super oily so I would spend my days over exfoliating thinking this would help, it doesn’t. It just ends up dehydrating my skin and making it harder to manage. I feel this toner is gentle enough to use everyday and clears pores without completely stripping the natural oils away. I am really enjoying using it. I picked this up from Mise Beauty for 20 Euro.
Another skin fave, which is on a completely different price spectrum. I admit, I did not purchase this, it was in a goody bag I received. You can find it in Space NK or Feel Unique stock it too. It’s in and around 165 Euro to buy, holy crap! I can’t say I would pay this money for it to be honest, but I have been enjoying using it.
This is the Perricone MD Cold Plasma. It’s suitable for all skin types. I think it’s more marketed towards being an anti ageing, and I do feel like it plumps your skin up (although I’m pretty plump already ๐ ). It also helps with enlarged pores though which is something I suffer from and I feel like it’s doing something slowly but surely for me, without filling in the pores and giving me more blackheads and whiteheads which can happen to me with rich moisturisers.ย It has a funny nearly jelly like consistency and gets a layer on the top of the cream which is odd, and the smell is not very pleasant.
They’re are rave reviews about the Cold Plasma online, so I am going to keep using it and see if I can look ten years younger by the end of the pot. You’d want to for that dosh!
I know it’s a bit ridic for me to be claiming love for a fragrance when I have it only less than a week, but I think with a perfume when you know you know… I also bought it at the beginning of September so I’m technically cheating but I’m a tad obsessed.
This is the newest Jo Malone Cologne in Wood Sage and Sea Salt. I know it doesn’t sound very inviting, but bare with me and give it a sniff the next time you are in Brown Thomas . I won’t dare try to describe it, but I’ll just say if you like musky but still sweet fragrances you will love this. It’s the perfect Winter scent and it makes me happy just sniffing it. I think it will become a regular in my perfume line up ๐
I have a makeup fave next.
These are the Eau la la Liners by Sleek Makeup. We speak a stupid amount about Sleek on Chatterbox I know, but it’s a bloody good affordable brand, we need to shout it from the rooftops! These liners can be used as eye or lip liners and come in an abundance of shades. I always think “drugstore brands” lack in the lip liner department and just do the basic colours, but Sleek have you covered! They are creamy, pigmented, soft and long lasting, what more can I say to sell you on them, oh yeh they’re 5.99 Euro and you can get them online, from Mise Beauty and Boots Liffey Valley and Blanchardstown. I want them all!
My next fave is not a new thing to me at all, in fact I have been using them for years, but I thought I lost it at the start of the month and I was traumatised.
Turns out it was only hiding from me! This is my newest Tweezerman Tweezers. I have had a few over the years. They are hands down the best tweezers I have ever used and it took “losing” it to realise how brilliant and nimble it is. I have stubborn coarse eyebrow hair and this thing just gets them out in record time with the least amount of pain. I never want to be without again.
I came across these Invisibobbles at the Ultimate Girls Day Out event in the RDS mid August. The Essential Salon Supplies booth had them. They intrigued me so I had to grab some and check them out.
Let’s begin with, I know they’re not invisible ๐ But these weird phone wire looking plastic bobbles, grip and hold your hair in place without pulling or loosening on your hair. They don’t give you a headache from being too tight and they are comfortable to wear in bed which is what I use them for primarily. Sometimes I pop my hair in a bun with one when it’s damp, and the next morning I’m left with a kink in my hair which I’m quite fond of.
Ok last favourite from me this month, the Elf Daily Brush Cleanser.
I literally have this for god knows how long tucked away in a drawer collecting dust. I just forgot about it. It’s so important to clean your makeup brushes. Like everyone I don’t always remember to deep clean them and then I run out of clean ones andย I have to clean them all together. It’s a boring job that I don’t think anyone enjoys. Something like the Elf Cleanser is great to have because it is anti bacterial so after you use a brush you can spray it and wipe it clean in a tissue so it’s clean and germ free for your next application. The brush dries much quicker so you don’t have to wait around like you do when you deep clean them. It’s great for that in between stage before your big clean is due, and Elf is so affordable AND this stuff smells great too which is an added bonus ๐
So there you go, some of my loves from the month of July. I know I cheated a little with the perfume, don’t judge me too much.
As always thanks for reading and have a fantastical September.

The warmer weather is kinda…sorta coming our way. It’s about bloody time! So we all need to keep the shine at bay a little bit more throughout the day. For oilier skinned girls like me it means packing even more on, but don’t fret it means you’ll have less wrinkles as you get older apparently if you have oily skin ๐
I am going to list in this post my most used setting powders. I personally think it’s good to have a range of powders in your stash. Your skin likes to keep you on your toes and some days are different than others, so you might want more coverage perhaps if you are going to be out all day or it’s that time of the month and you’re looking more flushed than normal. Or maybe you’re having a good skin day and you just want a light powder, or if your going out on the town you might want a different coloured one (to match the tan) or one with some luminosity. I think I cover all the bases here without breaking the bank.
First up is my very well loved (and battered) Stay Matte Pressed Powder by Rimmel.
I have about 4 of these floating around including one in my handbag. This is a great everyday setting powder. It’s light in texture so does not give any real coverage, but mattifies the skin without looking cakey and lasts really well.
This has a number and colour (005, silky beige), but I feel like it’s pretty transparent on my pale skin anyways. The best thing about this powder? Not only is it great, but it’s a steal at 5.99 from Boots
Next up is a bit more pricey, but it’s good at its job, I promise:
This is Mac’s Studio Fix. This is actually a pressed powder foundation, which means it gives extra coverage on the days when you need it! My one here is NC20
This matches by natural skin tone, but I usually have a darker one knocking about too for when I’m a bit more (fake) tanned as this is a great powder to bring on a night out for touch ups. I love this powder it’s nice and smooth and smooths over pores and fine lines rather than settling into them like some others can do. You can get this in any Mac store. They sell it in Brown Thomas and on their website for 31.50.
I have two choices next:
These are two Ben Nye Luxury Powders. Ben Nye is a brand of makeup designed to be used in theatre and film. I love these powders, and these 42gram pots will last me a lifetime.
The Ben Nye Powders are really finely milled. The Cameo Powder has a slight pink tint to it which is good for my pink toned complexion on a normal day to day basis. The banana powder is yellow toned so is a great all over powder for someone who has a more sallow complexion. If I am going all out with my makeup and am heavy contouring I like to use Cameo under my eyes and anywhere on the face I want to lighten and then I’ll use the Banana Powder wherever I am creating shadow and darkening. These powders are a lovely texture, do not cake on the skin and do not clog pores and they definitely set your makeup as well as adding a hint of colour, just use a light hand ๐ The only irish website I can find these on is Sunaura for 21 euro which I think is a bit steep as I got my Banana one last year at Imats for 10 pound. They are fab products though.
So yes you want powder to mattify and set your makeup, but this doesn’t always mean you need to use a matte powder. I have two options here that you can pick in Boots, that cover this:
This is the Bourjois Java Rice Loose Powder, how pretty is this old school packaging? This powder smells amazing too by the way, added bonus ๐ For me and my skin this is not an everyday powder, but if I am looking for a bit of a glow I dip into this pot.
This powder has light reflecting particles in it, it just borders on glitter so use with caution. Brushed lightly over the skin this gives a lovely glow without having to use cream products to achieve it. I like to use this in the inner corners of my eyes too for a subtle highlight during the day. You can buy this from Boots for 13.99 This is a more pinky powder. If you are looking for something that is perhaps a bit more warmer in tone and has a more gold sheen to it Sleek Makeup have a powder for you:
This also has Spf 15 so it may have some flashback if you are thinking about it for a night out. This is Sleek’s Luminous Pressed Powder.
I have the shade 01 which I believe is the lightest shade. It doesn’t give any coverage really in my opinion, but it does set your makeup and has a subtle gold shimmer running through it, to liven up your face and give it some luminosity. I love using this powder when I am finished my makeup and have used a setting powder (because I am super oily) and this is a light powder, just lightly all over my face, to give an extra glow. You can get this in Boots too, or on Cloud10beauty, or the Sleek website itself and it’ll set you back 8.99, not too bad at all ๐
So there you have it, a few powdery options for you if you are looking to switch it up or just add to your collection for different makeup tasks. A girl likes to have options!
