It’s monthly favourites time again here on Beautynook. It’s crazy, I spent so long not doing them and now my month doesn’t feel complete without rounding up some of the things that I’ve been using either freshly for the month or some old favourites that I’ve found a love for once again. So just click on the video above to see the things that made it into my June Favourites video πŸ™‚

June favouritesAnd like always, I’ll link anything I can here too, in case something takes your fancy and you want to know more. I know monthly favourites are more rambly videos so less info is given generally while I’m in waffle mode πŸ™‚

June Favourites

First up we have the pom pom sandals from River Island. These will definitely divide opinions I know. Unfortunately these were limited edition and don’t seem to be on the website anymore. Asos have similar styles here though if you want to check them out.

The Kind Shower Gel from Cocoa Brown. I have a full a post all about the new Kind range here, if you want to check it out.

I’ve never done a blogpost on the Lorac Pro Palette for some weird reason! I had to buy it from Amazon, but that was a couple of years ago now.

Mac Whirl Lip liner can be bought from Brown Thomas in store or online here

The Rimmel Kate lipstick in number 45 is here on the Boots website.

I have a full post on the Sleek Solstice Palette here and you can pick it up from Boots (hopefully) in store or online here

The L’Occitane Verveine Cooling Hand Cream Gel is on their website here. I actually thought it was more expensive. €10.50 is ok for a 30ml tube, right?

And….we’re done πŸ™‚

As always thanks for taking the time to click and watch. If you liked the video, you can keep tabs on when I upload by subscribing to my Youtube channel here πŸ™‚

Have you any particular June Favourites? Let me know.

The new limited edition Sleek Whimsical Wonderland Collection contains three colours of their new gel blushes, three new limited edition complimenting shades of their VIP lipsticks and what I am showing you in this post, the ‘All The Fun Of The Fair’ eyeshadow palette.

Sleek Whimsical Wonderland CollectionI do love a Sleek eyeshadow palette so I was excited when I saw one left on the shelf in Boots while I was doing my new in makeup beauty rounds πŸ™‚

Sleek All The Fun Of The Fair PaletteLike all Sleek iDivine Eyeshadow Palettes, the shadows are packaged in a thin, matte plastic case with as always a large handy mirror in the lid.

The name ‘Whimisical Wonderland Collection’,I think is most fitting to the ‘All The Fun At The Fair’ Palette. To me, the other products are quite normal and wearable everyday colours, whereas the palette is a pretty assortment of matte and shimmery pastel shades.

Sleek Makeup

So onto the swatching πŸ™‚

As with all of the Sleek palettes, you get a plastic sheet over the top of the shadows telling you their names, which are all very cute and fitting to the ‘All The Fun At The Fair’ theme.

Sleek Makeup Ireland

Here they all are swatched from left to right:

On first swatch, I can tell that the shimmers definitely pack more of a punch than the mattes do. Unfortunately, this is the case for alot of palettes, especially when it comes to brighter matte colours. Overall, the shades feel really nice, none of them are powdery or hard to work with. I think there’s some good wearable shades in the All The Fun Of The Fair palette for the lid, the crease and transitioning, aswell as some interesting shades that will be fun to play around with maybe with a white base to help them pop a little more.

You can pick up the whole Sleek Whimsical Wonderland Collection from Boots in store as well on the Sleek website. Cloud10beauty have the whole collection here too if you want to have a closer look at the other products included. The All The Fun Of The Fair Palette will set you back €10.45 on Cloud10beauty.

Ok, I finally gave into the hype and picked up the Sleek Solstice Highlighting Palette!

Sleek Solstice Highlighting Palette

There has been so much talk about this over the last few months about the Sleek Solstice Highlighting Palette after people like Jeffree Star have gotten their hands on it and have been loving it.For some reason, even though it’s been so readily available here in Ireland I just never picked it up. But with so many people talking about it and loving it. I had to give it a whirl for myself. So here are my first impressions :).

Sleek Solstice Highlighting Palettetop beauty blog ireland

The description on Boots.ie about it is ‘Sleek MakeUP’s Solstice Highlighting Palette instantly enhances the complexion with a radiant glow. This versatile face and body highlighting palette suits all skin tones and includes two baked powders, one luxurious cream formula and one silky shimmer powder. The highly pigmented metallic finishes add a radiant glow and a luminous sheen to the skin.Packaged in a stunning rose gold compact with a mirror and a mini powder brush, Solstice can be used on cheekbones, the cupids bow, inner corners of the eyes, bridge of the nose and can be swept across the dΓ©colletage to create a lit-from-within glow.’

The packaging of the Sleek Solstice Highlighting Palette is really pretty and a little different for Sleek considering most of their products are encased in sleek (get it? πŸ™‚ ) matte black. It has a magnetic closing too which I always appreciate, less stress on our perfectly manicured talons! It has a large mirror on the lid as well.

The 4 shades have names which I always really like, it just helps us distinguish between them.

The first one is ‘Ecliptic’.

‘Hemisphere’.

‘Subsolar’.

A pale yellow gold powder. Probably the most subtle shimmer of the bunch.

And then finally, ‘Equinox’.

First impressions are good! The cream and all three powders apply really nicely to the skin without too much effort. Ecliptic is probably a little too dark for me to wear as a cream highlighter or base, so I would probably use this on the eyes, but if you have a deeper skin tone than me, it will work really nicely. The colours are a bit frosty in my opinion so be wary of that if that doesn’t float your boat.

Blended Out On The Skin

They do apply better more opaquely with your fingers. I had a quick play with them on my mug (without any other makeup on may I add) and with a highlighting brush and they applied more wearable I think, and gave more of a shine to the skin than a frost.

I think I am really going to enjoy playing with this palette. I am sure I will be talking more about it on Snapchat and the likes, so be sure to be following me on there if you want to keep updated πŸ™‚

I picked up the Sleek Solstice Highlighting Palette in store from Boots, Henry Street, Dublin. It seems to be sold out at alot of stands, but they were fully stocked. Boots have stock online too here, the Sleek website here is sold out. Cloud10beauty is another place that’s great for buying Sleek here although they are sold out at the minute too. So keep an eye if you’re in the market! I paid €14.49 for the palette, it does vary in price by a couple of euro depending on where you get it.

So tell me, what do you think? Do you think it’s worth the hype? Have you bought it already? Let me know πŸ™‚

I have the Sleek Cream Contour Kit in my possession a while now.

Sleek Cream Contour Kit

I have the shade light.

Sleek Cream Contour Kit Review

I was kindly gifted this at a masterclass showing us bloggers how to use the Sleek Cream Contour Kit. I knew it was in high demand and everyone wanted to see it in action, so I embarrassingly rummaged through a few of the very generous gift bags making sure I got the lightest palette because I thought since I have lighter skin this would be the best one for me…dedication to blogging right there! πŸ™‚

Unfortunately, some of the colours don’t seem to really work for me in the way I want them too, so I’ve been putting off talking about it. Some of you lovely lot have been asking me my thoughts on it though, so here they are πŸ™‚

There are three Sleek Cream Contour Kits to choose from light, medium and dark. They all contain 6 cream contour shades ranging in colours to highlight, contour and give definition to the face.

irish beauty blogtop irish beauty blogtop irish beauty blogger

The texture of the product is really nice. They are creamy to the touch and they do blend into the skin quite well. They also don’t leave the skin feeling or looking to greasy which is an added bonus too.

Here are the colours in the light palette swatched from left to right on my arm.

And then blended out a little with my fingers.

irish beauty websiteI will be completely honest, and if you’ve been reading Beautynook for a while, you’ll know I’m a big Sleek fan, but I wanted so much more for the palette…

According to Sleek, the shades work as follows:

  • Shade 1 – highlighting
  • Shade 2 – deeper highlighting
  • Shade 3 – concealing / blending contouring
  • Shade 4 – contouring or adding subtle contouring effect
  • Shade 5 – creating the illusion of shadow
  • Shade 6 – adding deeper shadow effects

That sounds a bit overwhelming if you’re not super into your makeup I know, but this is just a guide line of course and they give you an insert with the palette to show you were to place the colours if you want to use them in this fashion. I personally love a bit of contouring and highlighting but I wouldn’t be this dedicated and less face it, my chubby chops need more than some cream contouring to look chiselled πŸ™‚

Here it is in action on my face.

I used shade 3 to conceal under my eyes and then shade 1 to highlight, shade 5 around the periphery of my face and then shade 6 under my cheekbones.

Close up

The lighter shades don’t really lift my skin or give any major coverage once blended in. The darkness under my eyes still comes through. I would have to conceal separately before using the palette. They also cake up on my skin slightly too. The three darker contouring shades are just too warm for me to use as contour, although I have used the darker shade a few times more as a cream bronzer and it works well.

Overall, I think the formula is of the Sleek Cream Contour Kit is one of the best on the ‘highstreet’ market that I’ve used to date yet, but the colours (of the light kit anyways) and the coverage of the lighter shades just don’t float my boat πŸ™

You can get the Sleek Cream Contour Kit from Boots, pharmacies nationwide and Cloud10beauty stock it online here too. It will set you back a reasonable €13.95.

Have you used it? Am I being overly critical? Let me know?

This green smoky eye is a look I tend to wear alot myself. For some reason I just gravitate towards green eyeshadows πŸ™‚ I thought the run up to St Patrick’s day would be the perfect time to do a video on how I create it.

As with any makeup look, use the products you already have in your stash. You don’t need to go out buying anything (unless of course you want to πŸ™‚ ) Most of the eyeshadows I used for this St Patrick’s day appropriate green smoky eye are from Makeup Geek, which if you’ve been following me for a while, you know I’m a huge fan of. I also dipped into the Garden of Eden palette from Sleek Makeup, which is a gorgeous eyeshadow palette full of greens and complimenting colours.

I ended up using a warm toned brown in the crease, but you of course could use a cool toned brown or even a grey or a black, it’s fun to experiment πŸ™‚

If you like the video please let me know, I’m still really new to this youtube this, so I am just learning as I go. And if you fancy subscribing to keep up to date, just click on the link here and I will pop up in your subscription box. I am trying to do a one video a week at the minute, so if you have any suggestions of what you would like to see let me know too.

All the products that I used for the green smoky eye itself and the rest of my face are in the info box of the video on youtube, so if you click here and scroll down you’ll be able to see them.

As always, thanks for stopping by. I really really appreciate it πŸ™‚
