It’s been a minute since I did a get ready with me style video. I love watching these types of videos. I feel like you can just zone out and get lost in the makeup application ๐Ÿ™‚ We were going out for the day this past Sunday so I turned the camera on. I’m calling this my daytime glam makeup look.

As you probably know I have oilier skin, so I do probably put in a few more extra steps when it comes to base and the likes. Especially if I know I am going to be out for the entire day. And in this instance I was going to be outside, so I took extra care.

I started out with prepped moisturised skin. Here is a list of what I used in case you’re interested.

As always I’ll try to list all of the products that physically go on my face for this daytime glam makeup affair. Apologies if I miss one out. There’s a fair few ๐Ÿ™‚

I am very hesitant to call this a hair curling tutorial. I’m forever hesitant to use that word anywhere on Beautynook to be honest. But, it’s what people search for, so I’m just jumping on the bandwagon. Don’t think any less of me ๐Ÿ™‚

irish beauty blogger

Myself and hair styling would not be the best of friends. I’m lucky in that my hair isn’t too unruly so I can get away with doing the bare minimum with it most of the time. There is really only two facets to my ability. Straightening, which I use the L’Orรฉal Steampod for. (Review here). Or, I can curl it, which I’m doing a lot of lately.

irish beauty blog

At first when I was asked a few times by you lovely lot on Snapchat and Instagram how I curl my hair, I kind of got embarrassed. I just think of myself as so shit at hair. I decided to give a ‘hair curling tutorial’ a go anyways though and as I got into it, I realised, maybe I do have a couple of tips that people might learn from. We all do these things differently, right?

hair curling tutorial

I generally curl my hair when it’s freshly clean. I know most people don’t do that, but I have oily roots and if I did it on second or third day hair, it just wouldn’t be worth my while. I’ll use heat protection spray before drying and then just blast dry it. I used the fancy Dyson hairdryer in this video because we’re house sitting. Sad to say, I definitely don’t have one of these at home ๐Ÿ™

top irish beauty blog

I’ll link the vent brush here too that I use in case you like the look of it ๐Ÿ™‚ I let my hair cool and let my really old but favourite Babyliss curling wand heat up. I like less uniformed waves rather than full on curls. That’s of course personal preference though.

irish beauty blog

I do one side of my head at a time, taking approximately one inch sections. I like the tousled look, so I don’t think too much about it, once all the hair has a bit of a wave I’m happy. Click on the video above or directly here to see the whole Hair Curling Tutorial in action. You’ll get a better sense at how crap I am at hair and of the finished result ๐Ÿ™‚

**********INCLUDES A PR SAMPLE*************

This was like all my makeup look posts pretty much off the cuff ๐Ÿ™‚ I needed to do my makeup, had some time so thought I would do a glam purple makeup ‘tutorial’.

Glam Purple Makeup Tutorial

I hate calling it a tutorial, but that’s what people seem to search so it just gives me more reach. As I always reiterate, I’m a makeup enthusiast, I know I’m not a professional. I had notions of attempting to do a cut crease, but my hands just wouldn’t let me, so this is what I came up with ๐Ÿ™‚

irish beauty bloggerirish beauty blog

There’s definitely a mix of high end brands and more affordable brands within this purple makeup look. I don’t think it’s too over complicated either.

I’ll try list and link everything I used here:

And I believe thats everything! You can check out the video directly here or click on it above.

Glam Purple Makeup Tutorial

I think I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. To me it’s a glam purple makeup look. I could see myself rocking this on a night out. Pretend I didn’t just do it and then sit on my laptop for the rest of the day ๐Ÿ™‚

I sound dramatic when I say I get a lot of questions about my brow routine. But, it’s actually probably my most asked beauty question.

brow routine

My eyebrows have come such a long way in the past couple of years. I was definitely one of the ‘tadpole’ brow crew. We started in our teens and we just continued on plucking and plucking and never looking back ๐Ÿ™‚ With the help of YouTube videos and the awesome brow gals at Benefit though, I finally gotten a handle on filling them in.

irish beauty bloggerirish beauty blog

Unfortunately my natural eyebrows are left in a bit of a wreck from over plucking. I did get a stem cell treatment done last year that definitely helped them fill out a bit, but as you can see, a decent brow routine is completely necessary for me.

As I say in the video, I am no expert and my brows are not perfect, nor are they twins. But I’ve come to terms with that and just do them to the best of my ability. I’ve gotten better over the years, so maybe this time next year I’ll be even more accomplished ๐Ÿ™‚

My brow routine is probably the longest part of my makeup application and I’m completely ok with that. I think they’re the most important part for me, and I kind of build everything else around them. I do use and excessive amount of products I know.

beauty blog ireland

However, I get super oily in that area of my face throughout the day, so pencil alone just doesn’t cut it for me! And I use two brow gels to add texture, and to set everything too.

I’m not listing products here, because I feel this video is more about how rather than what I use. But if you want to know about anything specific, just ask ๐Ÿ™‚

top irish beauty siteI know this isn’t a new idea, but I was doing my makeup the other day and started doing something that I thought was worth sharing. I was about to jump onto Instagram stories and share it, but then I had the idea to do it in blogpost form for future reference purposes ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m calling it my top 5 makeup tips but I can’t guarantee I’ll keep it to 5 ๐Ÿ™‚top irish beauty blogger

There’s no real rhyme or reason to these makeup tips. They’re really just things that came to mind and things I’ve learned over the years.

  1. If youโ€™re using a thicker foundation and find it hard to blend. Try spraying your foundation brush with makeup setting spray. Itโ€™ll make it easier to blend without compromising the longevity. It works if you’re using a sponge too.top beauty blog ireland

  2. If you have trouble putting gel liner in your water line. This is something I learned from Marlena aka Makeup Geek. I use to attempt to do it with a brush but it just tickles too much! Instead, try using a similar coloured eye pencil to apply it. Dip the pencil into the gel liner pot and use it as the tool. Makes tight lining so much easier. Thanks Marlena ๐Ÿ™‚top irish beauty blogger

  3. Donโ€™t directly powder over wet skin ie: oil or sweat, it leaves holes in your foundation. If you need to touch up,ย  always try blot and then pat powder where necessary onto the face.

  4. Filing indexes aka sticky notes or even sellotape works. Just me sure you take the access stickiness off on the back of your hand.ย  (You donโ€™t want to pull your eyes). They make a great eyeliner guide. Apply to the edge of your eyes in the direction you want your flick. Apply your liner or eyeshadow and then slowly pull the sticky notes off away from your face. You should be left with a clean line. It takes practice, but I promise it works.makeup tips

  5. We know dampening your brush makes metallics shadows and highlights apply more vibrant, right? If you donโ€™t want to do that, you can use your setting spray as normal on your face and before it dries, apply your highlighter on damp skin. This will make it pop a little extra too and help it last longer.irish beauty blog

  6. Cheap eyeliners are often hard to use. If you want to soften the pencil and get use out of it. Run the tip through the flame of a lighter for a couple of seconds. Obviously be sure that it’s not hot to the touch when applying it to your eyes. But it will soften it and make it much easier to apply.irish beauty blog makeup tips

  7. If you have an eyeshadow that you donโ€™t get much pigment out of but love the colour.ย  Try applying concealer or a white base (like the NYX Jumbo eye pencil) before it and pat it on with your finger. It will help with the opacity. Dampening your eyeshadow brush with water, setting spray, Duraline or even eye drops before application will help too.makeup tips

I did a post here yonks ago about keeping your lashes curled all day. I thought that might be helpful to throw into the makeup tips mix too. And here is a demo of the winged liner tip in practice. The pictures and videos are horrendous but the methods still stands ๐Ÿ™‚

If even one of these makeup tips helps you, I’ll be very happy, so please let me know. I definitely went over the quota of five ha!

This is my honest everyday Summer Makeup look! I tried to keep it as real as possible and just edited out my ‘ums’ and any long winded techniques. My brows take forever ๐Ÿ™‚

everyday summer makeup lookeveryday summer makeup look

It’s nothing fancy or ground breaking, but this is generally what I do on a daily basis if I’m wearing makeup. The eye look might change a bit if I’m feeling fancier or lazier. The lip colour might change if I’m feeling a bold or bright lip, but the base tends to not really. I’ve found what works for my skin in the heat, so I don’t want to jinx it too much if I’m going out and about. If I know I’m staying close to home, then I can experiment and trial new products ๐Ÿ™‚

irish beauty blog

It all depends on what you feel most comfortable with. For me, brows and a bit of eyeshadow definition is a must. Eyeliner is not necessary so it’s not something I do day to day. Once I have a wash of colour on my lids I am happy enough. The main components of my everyday Summer makeup look, I’ve spoken about a lot before. I think this is an important aspect of this video though. You know I like these products and above all, you know I trust them.irish beauty blogger

I won’t get into everything, but some of the main products I used are in my June Favourites here. I have a review the Urban Decay Primer here, and of both the foundations I used here and here. Mac Springsheen blush has been a favourite for literally years and the highlighter from Pixi is a new, but very loved favourite.top irish beauty blog

And that is my ‘errand running’ everyday Summer makeup. If you watched the video, you’ll get the joke ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks for tuning it. Tell me, what are some of your Summer makeup essentials?
