It’s April Favourites time for 2017. This year is going too damn fast! But, the weather is getting a little bit better and it’s a bit brighter out. So, I can complain (of course), but I won’t 🙂
My April Favourites for this year consist of mostly makeup, of course. But there is a hair care tool and a new tech gadget, that myself and John splurged on. We had a busy month, so it was a bit of a treat for getting through it.
Mac Sheertone Shimmer Blush in ‘Springsheen’. Available from Brown Thomas here.
Maybelline Color Show Pencil in 520. Swatched here.
Maybelline Brow Precise Micro Brow Pencil in ‘Soft Brown’. Available from the Boots website here.
Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector in 13. This is a new colour and I cannot find it online. But the older shades are available from Debenhams here.
Paese Artist Silky Matt Liquid Lipstick in 707. I have swatches of it here.
Canon G7X Mark ii. I researched this camera to within in a inch of my life :). I already have a DSLR, so I am hoping this will help me up my photo game on social media. And then maybe myself and himself can experiment with vlogging too. I bought mine from Conns Cameras on Claredon Street here in Dublin. They were super nice and helpful. It is on their website here, if you want to check out the specs and all that good stuff.
You can as always click on the video and to watch or click here to watch it directly on my YouTube channel.
And that is my April Favourites for 2017 in a nutshell. Roll on May 🙂
Thanks so much for watching and reading, as always.
I wanted to create a simple Summer makeup look and I made it a bit more interesting and used all affordable makeup products!
This is about as fresh and simple summer makeup like my oilier and dare I say more mature skin will get 😛 Obviously, there is the bb cream and lip balm option too. This is more the ‘put together’ simple makeup look. After I filmed this I went out and had some dinner and felt very much put together.
On a side note, how much difference does filling in my brows make??
My simple summer makeup does use alot of products, but sure that’s how I roll and they are all affordable and easy to get a hold of here in Ireland. I used alot of L’Oréal products, Not on purpose, it just what I seemed to gravitate towards at time of application 🙂
I said I would make these lists every so often when affordable brands make things that really float my boat. This post is going to run through five budget brown eyeliners that I have been reaching for of late for different reason.
I am going through a bit of a brown liner phase. Black has eluded me. I will go back to it I am sure, but for now I am enjoying the less intense look that brown eyeliner gives to the eyes.
I chose five budget brown eyeliners that I have been legit reaching for daily for different reasons.
Number one is the Maybelline Color Show Kohl in 410.
I talk more about these here. I like using this to smoke out the lash line. It’s really soft and doesn’t really set very quickly, so you get alot of play time with it. I think a dark brown kohl liner is always handy to have in your makeup stash.
My next two budget brown eyeliner picks are both from Essence.
Their Extreme Lasting Eye Pencil in 05 ‘Rockin’ Taupe’ is a newer favourite. This is part of the Essence Autumn Winter Collection. I did a whole blog post about the collection not too long ago here.
This is more grey toned shimmery taupe colour. Again, this works well in the waterline if you want to darken things up a little more , but still want the look to remain soft. I love using it all over the lid too as an eyeshadow base. It blends really nicely but sets too. So it helps your shadows last longer and adds a little something more to the look.
The is the Essence Longlasting Eye Pencil in 19 ‘Hot Scorch’. I love these retractable liners. I talk more about them here.
This particular one is a nice warm bronze shimmery shade that lasts particularly well in the waterline. I love this when I just want to add a bit of something there without looking too ‘done’ or dark. It looks fab swept on the top or bottom lash line too. And it is super cheap!
My last two picks are of the darker brown variety.
The first one is actually from one of the trio of Shimmer Strips from Physicians Formula. I think this one is from the Warm Nudes Trio. You can buy them from Dolledup.ie here.
At €16.90 these are definitely the priciest of the bunch, but you do get three liners for that. This is like a blackened brown colour, so probably the darkest of the bunch aswell. This is such an easy kajal liner to use. The thick conical shape of it makes it super handy to get into the lash line. I wouldn’t be using this for a thin defined line. This is more of I want to do a brown smoky eye look. I would use this as a shadow base or on top to darken things up and on the waterline too.
My last pick is a gel liner that is another new edition to my makeup collection.
This is the Flormar Gel Eyeliner in ‘Bole Brown’. This comes with a brush in the lid too which isn’t half bad at all.
It’s a nice chocolatey brown that you can build up the opacity with. I find gel liners a bit scary sometimes, so I like that this can be layered and if I do mess it up (which I do…alot). I can fix it before things get too full on in the liner department 🙂 It sets and works really well in the water line too. You can get it on SimplyFoxy here or any Flormar stockists for €7.95.
Here they all are swatched in order left to right, just so you can get an idea of the difference in texture and colour.
And we’re done. Five Budget Brown Eyeliners to hopefully suit every need and taste 🙂

I had to do it at least once! When Colourpop announced they are now shipping internationally, my heart skipped, skipped a beat 🙂
My heart then proceeded to drop when I saw what they were charging to ship internationally. $25! And that doesn’t include custom clearance! But like the good little makeup fiend that I am, I couldn’t stop thinking about ordering. They give you $5 off if you sign up to their newsletter so I thought, feck it! I’ll even just do it the once and take the hit. Then, I proceeded to go over the Irish customs limit too (I think anything over $25 puts you in the danger zone of having to pay tax. I just couldn’t justify all of that money to ship it over and only getting a couple of things. I wanted to get my monies worth. I risked it and it paid off. I did not have to pay customs on the package. But that doesn’t happen all the time, I think it really is just the luck of the draw. If you fancy fancy seeing what I got. Here’s my first ever Colourpop haul.
Colourpop really know how to package a…package! The box is so pretty.
The packaging on the products themselves is really nice too.
I picked up two of their Super Shock eyeshadows.
‘Game Face’ which is a penny bronzed metallic colour.
And ‘LALA’, which is a rose gold metallic shadow.
They both cost $5 each.
I picked up one of the Supershock Cheek Highlighters.
This is in the shade ‘Lunchmoney’.
Colourpop describe it as a soft light gold with a reflective duo chrome finish.
These cost $8 each.
The powder products feel like nothing I have ever used before. They’re nearly wet to the touch and have a gel like consistency when you apply them to the skin. Colourpop tell you that the formula is best applied with the fingertips.
I chose one of their Crème Gel Colour Liners to try.
This is in the colour ‘Show Me’.
I thought it would be complimentary to the shadows. These are $6 each.
And one of their Crème Gel Liner Pencils too that will hopefully go with the other eye products.
This is in the shade ‘Stomper’. These are $5 each.
Onto to lip products. I ended up getting three.
One of their sheer Lippie Stix.
This is in the shade ‘Tiger’.
It’s $5 each for these.
And then, two Ultra Matte Lips.
‘Beeper’.
‘Bumble’.
The Ultra Matte Lips are $6.
Colourpop haul dunzo 🙂
I placed my order with Colourpop on the 12th of July. They did give me a USPS tracking number and I could track my package up until it went on to the international flight. Then, I couldn’t get an update on it. I received my order from my regular postman, on the 26th of July. My total bill was $66 with the $5 discount. That worked out at €61.31 and I paid with Paypal. As I mentioned already though, I was lucky customs let the package through and I didn’t have to pay an extra penalty.
What do you think? Are you tempted? The products themselves are really reasonable priced, I think. If they brought down the shipping, I think I would be more than happy to shop with Colourpop again. First impressions are really good, I like the products I got, alot 🙂
These are the new Maybelline Color Show Crayon Kohl Liners.
Looking online, the Maybelline Color Show Crayon Kohl Liners come in 9 colours, Maybelline have them all on their American website here. And as usual they seem to be slightly different to what we have gotten in Ireland, this always confuses me, but sure look 🙂 They don’t seem to be on the Boots website as of yet though and I could only find 6 different colours in my local Boots. At the minute they are doing buy one Maybelline product get another half price which is nice too. That means there will another new Maybelline product post this week, so keep an eye out 🙂
I have 5 of the new Maybelline Color Show Crayon Kohl Liners to show you today. According to Maybelline they ‘Color Show Kohl Liner is the hottest new way to create statement eyes. The brightest colors. The easiest glide. Creamy, rich color has never been this precise’.
The shade 520 is a light sea foam colour. If you follow me on social media, you know I have been loving putting this in my waterline for a bit of a pop at the minute.
210 is a metallic turquoise colour.
410 is a really nice and wearable dark matte brown.
220 is a slightly metallic dark navy.
120 is a metallic silver shade.
There was also a matte black on the stand too, which I didn’t pick up.
In my opinion the Maybelline Color Show Crayon Kohl Liners are super creamy and really pigmented. They are really blendable and apply smoothly and easily onto the skin and even onto the waterline.
The color range is pretty, particularly 520 which is probably my favourite 🙂
I did swatch them all together on my arm and then after taking photos and giving them time to set, I wiped across them.
As you can see they all smudged so they definitely don’t set. I have used a couple of them on my water line and they do last pretty well considering. For me, using them on my lash line would mean setting them with a powder I think though.
I can’t link them yet unfortunately, but I picked them up in my local Boots and they cost €4.49 each but I did get them on the buy on get one half price deal.
Do the Maybelline Color Show Crayon Kohl Liners float your boat? Let me know 🙂

I’ve only had this little puppy for around a week now, but I think it’s safe to say I’m kinda in love! Essence have released two shades in their new liquid lipstick range, the other is a nude and wasn’t in Penneys so I couldn’t get my hands on it…yet :p
First off, this liquid lipstick is like a lipgloss/lipstick hybrid. It has a glossy finish, but it is pretty darn pigmented.
We know Essence as a really budget friendly brand, that you’ll find in your local chemists and Penneys stores, but I really think the brand is upping their game and the products they are releasing of late would rival alot of the brands we gravitate towards everyday in Boots or Superdrug.
‘Show Off’ is is what I can only describe as a corally red colour.
I think it’s one of those shades that will suit a multitude of colourings and complexions and is pretty good at making the nashers look a bit brighter too which is always a nice bonus when it comes to picking a lip colour.
‘Show Off’ lasts really well on the lips too. Of course it has a lipgloss consistency so it won’t be staying on like your matte lip creams. However, it’s not sticky in texture, and it does wear off well, so you’re not left with creases of colour on your lips…cos that ain’t cute 🙂
If you don’t necessarily like the opacity of ‘Show Off’ it can be patted down on the lips and worn as a sheerer shade. It looks pretty gorge like that too!
Overall I am a huge fan of the Essence Liquid Lipsticks. So much so I think I need more in my life. So Essence, if you’re reading, bring out more shades pronto 🙂
‘Show Off’ will set you back €3.09, not bad at all right?
