The metallic lip trend has hit the beauty world with a bang. I won’t lie, I think I may be too old and uncool to pull it off. But that does not stop me from trying whatsoever πŸ™‚ I picked up the new Barry M Matte Me Up Metallic Lip Kits while browsing the new makeup in Boots.

Barry M Matte Me Up Metallic Lip KitsI had points burning a hole in my Boots card and wanted to buy something fun. The colours are quite wearable, so I thought I would have some fun swatching and writing about them. And then hopefully even attempt to wear one of them outside the comfort of my own home πŸ™‚

Barry M Matte Me Up Metallic Lip Kits

I had picked up a couple of the original Barry M Lip Kits when they first came out and did a post on them here. I, overall liked them. The consistency was inconsistent though and I feel like the metallic version are the same. Although using both the lip liner and the liquid lipstick together makes all the colours opaque and vibrant. And they are of course sold as a pair.

The Barry M Matte Me Up Metallic Lip Kits come in three shades.

Being a lip kit, they come with a lip liner.

And, matching liquid lipstick.

I’ve swatched all three on my arm and on the lips to show you them in action.

First up we have ’24 Carat’.barry m boots

Next up is ‘Allure’. barry m ireland This is probably my favourite because in my opinion, it’s the most wearable shade. Although the liner is a little harder to work with than the other two shades. It’s not as soft and opaque in colour.

The third shade in the Barry M Matte Me Up Metallic Lip Kits is ‘Prestige’.

They all dry down to a matte, non transferable finish with obviously a metallic look.

Like with most matte liquid lipsticks on the market, they do feel somewhat tight when they dry down. That is something to be weary of.

You can buy the Barry M Matte Me Up Metallic Lip Kits in Boots in store or online here. I got the three on offer as the brand are on 3 for 2 right now. They cost €8.99 each.

Would you wear any of the shades?

We made it halfway through 2017! How did that even happen!! The start of a new month means I have to look back and catalogue some of my most used products. Yes, it’s time for my May favourites πŸ™‚

may favourites

I decided to rock a red lip for this video! Thought I was only brilliant, until I started to edit the footage and realised it was smudged for most of it! Epic, lipstick fail. Just pretend you can’t see it, OK?

My May Favourites don’t consist of many things, but I think the choices are mighty πŸ™‚

We have the Penneys PS Pure Glow Highlighter Powder Palette. I have a full review of this here, so I won’t ramble on about it too much.

I spoke about one of my favourite primers, Benefit Porefessional.Β  The original YSL Touche Eclat. I’ve been using this in conjunction with Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer. Very much a jump on price in both of these, but I love them equally. Then, I couldn’t not add in The Ordinary. I’ve harped on so much about this brand over the past few weeks.

My Asos earrings that I forgot to put in the picture above so here’s a very candid back lit one of me wearing them!

And then the last of my May favourites came in the shape of some rose gold Nike Cortez and fish net ankle socks. Not for everyone, but I am digging the trend.

As always you can watch me waffle on more about my May favourites by just clicking the video at the top of this post, or directly on my YouTube channel here.

Happy June! Hope you have the loveliest month. I have lots to look forward to, so I’m very excited for the next few weeks πŸ™‚

The Stila Magnificent Metals Glitter & Glow Liquid Eyeshadows are a tongue twister first of all. I swear I keep having to check the name on the box to make sure I am writing it correctly!

Stila Magnificent Metals Glitter & Glow

Second of all, the Stila Magnificent Metals Glitter & Glow Liquid Eyeshadows are something I have been really excited about launching here for a long time. There are so many releases in the makeup world that if you are immersed in it, you can tend to take them for granted a little.

Stila Magnificent Metals

After seeing a lot of the big American YouTubers playing with these though, I was in awe of just how pretty they were!

I own two of the Stila Magnificent Metals cream shadows now. I thought that was enough to give you a somewhat rounded view on them as they aren’t cheap πŸ™‚ The Magnificent Metals started out in the Stila family as as actual eyeshadow that you activate with a solution to get a foiled effect.

The next generation of these are what we have here. They are basically a shimmery cream eyeshadow laced with glitter. There are eight shades in the collection for sale right now to us. I know there are more coming though. The two shades I own I’ll admit are quite similar, but I wanted to get colours I would actually wear.

Stil glitter and glow

The first one I bought is probably the most wanted shade, ‘Kitten Karma’.

‘Kitten’ is Stila’s most sold eyeshadow shade, so it made sense to make it into a Magnificent Metal cream shadow too. I would deem this as a taupe golden shade with golden sparkle.

My most recent purchase from the range was ‘Rose Gold Retro’.

As the name would suggest, this is rose gold cream eyeshadow laced with golden glitter.

For me (and I only own two of them) there is definitely formula differences. From reading reviews online, this isn’t old news either. Out of the two I own, ‘Kitten Karma’ applies better and the glitter within the cream eyeshadow adheres to the eyelid more. There is definitely more sparkle within it too ‘Rose Gold Retro’ tends to have more fall out of glitter after the shadow sets, although the cream shadow itself is thicker and more pigmented. They do both set on the lids and are smooth to the touch on application. There’s no grit and they wear really well. I find them easy too apply and spread out on the lid aswell. I tend to take the product from the wand onto my finger and pat them onto the lid. That seems to be the best way they work for me.

Overall, the Stila Magnificent Metal Glitter & Glow Liquid Eyeshadows are really pretty. It’s an easier way to add a pop of glitter to a look without having to work with loose pigments or glitter. There is inconsistencies in the formulas though and some colours are definitely better then others.

‘Kitten Karma’ seems to be hardest shade to come by. I got it directly from the Stila UK website here. ‘Rose Gold Retro’, I bought online here from Beauty Bay, which worked out cheaper as they do free shipping.

What are your thoughts on them? Have you picked up any?

I did a What’s In My Handbag video last year when I was heading to a blogger event here. That was more of an evening appropriate bag. I thought I would do an updated one.

irish beauty vlogger

This is completely just for fun, no rhyme or reason. I love seeing what other people lug around in their handbag. My bag is technically a bag pack, I am trying something different for me. I adore handbags, but I am a little brat when it comes to carrying them. I thought a bag pack might make things a little easier. So far, so good πŸ™‚

top irish beauty blog

I don’t have a link for it unfortunately, it seems to be gone now. But Zara have lots of lovely bags in at the minute. So many in fact, that I am going to leave a link here, but I’m not going to click on it myself. I can not afford to ha!

zara handbagzara bagpack

The contents of my handbag comprises mainly of makeup. Shock horror I know! When I put something in, I rarely remember to take it out. So, the bag becomes it’s residents for the foreseeable future.

what's in my handbag

You can of course see me talk about everything in a bit more detail in the video above, or you can click here to watch it directly over on my YouTube channel.

I admire people who have their shit together and have their handbag neat and tidy. I am definitely not one of them. Things just get thrown in and I hope for the best. The bigger the bag, the bigger the mess. I like to call it organised chaos though. I know what I have in it, it just might take me a while to find it πŸ™‚

As always thanks for taking the time to watch and read. Do you like these types of ‘nonsense’ videos? I would love your feedback.

Yep it’s happening, it’s January Favourites time!

irish beauty blogger

I am panicking a bit, not going to lie. We are properly into the second month of 2017, eeeekk! But in blog/vlog world that gives us an excuse to recap and look over the month and pick out some of our most used bits and bobs. I do this in video form now, but I do like to still do a blog post too.

My January Favourites for 2017 consist of a couple of fashion bits, a skincare item and of course my one true love, some makeup as well.

January Favourites

I have a bit of disclaimer, I filmed this feeling a little bit under the weather. I have the cold that so many people have at the minute that just won’t go away. So it’s a bit of rambley video, hope that’s OK ha. I am a bit zonked on cold medication πŸ™‚

The products mentioned are:

  • A Zara bag pack, that is gone from the website now, I apologise if you liked the look of it.
  • Coverse Hi Top runners. You can get these in so many places, but I’ll put a link to them on the Schuh website here if you want a closer look.
  • Asos watch: I can’t find a to the exact one, but they have lots of similar (and actually some nicer ones) here.
  • Cailyn Dissolv’It Makeup Melt Cleansing Balm. I got given this at an event, but it retails for €25 from their website here.
  • Isa Dora Matt Fixing Powder. I got this as a press sample. But, I found it on the Feel Unique website here for €17.86.
  • Zoeva Blanc Fusion Palette. I have a review and info on all of the palettes within the Plaisir Box here.
  • Rimmel Exaggerate Lip Liners. You can pick these up in Boots in store or online here. They are €5.49
  • And then finally Mac Extended Play Mascara. I have a whole blog post about this here.

And that is all of my January Favourites. You can watch the video by clicking on it above or going to my YouTube channel here. Have you any stand out products from the month?

There has been a lot of hype around the new Nyx Lid Lingerie Eye Tints. Well, to be fair I think there’s major hype whenever Nyx bring out a new product.

Nyx Lid Lingerie

They’ve already of course released Lip Lingeries which is a range of nude liquid lipsticks. From the name, I would assume these are meant to be an extension of the nude ‘lingerie’ theme. Within the 12 shades available to us here in the range, the majority is nude-ish, although there are some jewel tones aswell.Nyx Lid Lingerie

It was actually some makeup fiends on Snapchat that made me buy a couple of the Nyx Lid Lingerie Eye Tints. Yes I am blaming you. I took a snap of the stand in Boots and a couple of you were very intrigued. So, I took one from the team and picked up two πŸ™‚

Nyx Lid Lingerie

The first one is ‘Rose Pearl’.

It’s a light shimmery rose gold shade.

Here it is applied to the eyes. It’s a great easy everyday shade applied sheer to the lids.

Then, the second one ‘Night Glow’.

A dark shimmery taupe. I actually used this in my latest get ready with me video here.

Here it is in action on the eyes:

I really like the formula of these. It’s has a mousse like texture and goes onto the skin quite wet. But it does dry down and sets to a powdery finish. You do have to work quickly with them because when they do set they really don’t budge.

You can apply them sheer or they do layer up really nicely aswell. You can get a nice metallic look with them with a couple of layers. I have oily eyelids so I was very skeptical about how they would last on me. But I can confidently say after wearing them a few times with an eyeshadow primer underneath, I can wear them on their own all day with no problems at all. They do make for a lovely powder eyeshadow base too though.

Overall, I’m a fan of the Nyx Lid Lingerie Eye Tints. Don’t really get the Lingerie part but sure I can see past it because they’re pretty πŸ™‚

You can get them in Boots in store or online here and they will set you back €9.
