Rimmel Wonder Wing Eyeliner

The whole eyeliner stamp phenomenon has definitely intrigued me. I have watched countless YouTube videos of people demoing them. However, the price of them has always put me off. Especially when it comes to getting one of them delivered to Ireland. And sure most of them are just made of rubber. You could probably fashion one yourself. I am not that way inclined though. So when I saw the new Rimmel Wonder Wing Eyeliner, I knew I had to pick it up.

Rimmel Wonder Wing Eyeliner

So the Rimmel Wonder Wing Eyeliner is a standard felt tip liquid liner with one difference. The felt tip is shaped at wing angle. One side of it also has a flat edge. Why? To use like a stamp of course 🙂

Rimmel say, ‘Draw the line and stamp to flick’. Sounds easy in theory right?

irish beauty blogMyself and winged liner have a complicated relationship. Some days it works for me, some days it goes horribly wrong. A lot of the time I’ll use the post-it method. I did a video on this a while back here.

My thoughts on the Rimmel Wonder Wing Eyeliner are, it takes practice, but it can work! You position the flat edge where you want your flick to be and stamp it down to create the shape. It doesn’t always work, but after a few attempts, it definitely gets easier. And then you can create the rest of the line across the lash line with the other side and tip of the applicator.

A couple of issues that I have with it. It’s not the blackest of formulas. It’s not the worst, but I would probably find myself going over it with gel or even powder most of the time. I kind of think the actual stamp would be easier to use if it was the other way around. You could use the pen upright then. I think for me, it would be easier to get a sharper flick that way.

Overall, it definitely gives me a better chance of creating a cat eye I can actually leave the house with. And it definitely gives me a greater chance of getting somewhat even wings on both eyes. Not perfect, but sure what is 🙂

You can get the Rimmel Wonder Wing Eyeliner in stores now. I picked mine up from Boots for €7.99 here. I did see it cheaper in Penneys though.

What do you think? Have you tried it or any of the stamps on the market? Let me know.

lip pencils most reached for

Disclaimer, a lot of these lip pencils are a similar colour hue. Also, most of them are from two specific brands. Now that is out of the way, let’s get into some of my most reached for 🙂

lip pencils favourite

Brown nude and mauve lips are my jam! I have four lip pencils here that help with that addiction. I will wear them on their own, with lip balm over top, or of course with lippie as well. I have a bit of a complex about my top lip. It’s not in proportion to my bottom one, so lining my lip and slightly over drawing my top one is a normal occurrence.

Whirl from Mac is about as nude as I get, from a lip perspective 🙂

Their liners are pricey, but they last really well and are generally super smooth to apply. Whirl is €17.50. You can buy it from the Brown Thomas website here.

I reach for Rimmel’s Exaggerate Lip Liner in Addiction when I want something super brown.

These lip pencils are mechanical and much softer in texture. You run out of product pretty fast if you are partial to a particular shade. But, they will only set you back €5.49 from Boots here.

If I am looking to go mauve, I reach for Mac’s Soar.

This is a newer addition to my makeup collection and I don’t think I will ever be without it. I think a mauve lip is the most flattering on me, (if I do say so myself). If in doubt, I mauve it out :).

When I am in more of a pink mood. Rimmel’s Eastend Snob is my favourite. I actually did a blog post on it here a while back. I compared it to Charlotte Tilbury’s Pillow Talk. Spoiler alert, it came out on top!

Ok, we have to touch on reds, because I do enjoy a dabbling in a red lip. I have two here that I alternate. Mac’s Cherry would be in the mix too, only I sadly left mine in a pub somewhere in Dublin. RIP.

I have another Rimmel Exaggerate Pencil here. This is Red Diva. It’s the perfect cherry red shade.

Another one I reach for is the PS Love Lip Liner Pencil in 05 from Penneys.

I love these, I dedicated a whole blog post to them here. Such great value.

If I am feeling a berry lip, which I do alot, especially when the weather is a little cooler. Mac Currant is one I pick up if I am feeling particularly brave. Generally though, the Essence Longlasting Lip Liner in Yummy Berry is what my hand gravitates towards. These are another great budget buy and come in a multitude of shades.

Yummy Berry is a bit more pink. I generally fill the whole lip in with it and then dab over it with something like Mac’s Plumful or Rebel for full on berry mode.

I could probably go on, but I will leave it there for now 🙂 Spot any of your favourite lip pencils?

I am waaaayyyyy late to the party. Life gets in the way sometimes. But, I am finally here to chat about my July Favourites for 2017 🙂

This month’s run down is a random array of things from alcohol to perfume and then, of course a smattering of makeup products too. We’re staying in our friends house dog sitting at the minute. So, these are all things I packed up and brought with me. That definitely means they’re worthy of my (very late) July favourites, right?

My makeup for this video was a bit different to my usual slap. I got carried away with some purple eyeshadow and blue liner.

I am going through a bit of a top heavy phase with my eye shadow. I’m enjoying just applying colour on the top lash line and leaving the bottom with just mascara. Or just a tiny but of definition.

Special shout out to Louis the Schnoodle for making another cameo in one of my videos. Watch until the end to see just how cute he really is. 🙂

New makeup alert! I’ve had an abundance of new makeup come in over the past few weeks.

irish beauty website

Some are PR samples, some I bought myself, some were gifts from a friend and some are not new out, just new to me.

When I put them all side by side together, I realised there was nearly a full makeup face within them. I definitely had to add in product that I’ve spoken about before, but sure that stuff might be new to you as well!

After my latest blogpost here, where I talk about Summer Makeup Essentials. I thought it would be a good idea to use this as inspiration and create a really simple Summer makeup look.

As always, I will list the products and any reviews or blog posts I have done on individually products:

I didn’t go in too heavy with base products. I just wanted to even out any redness. Some freckles and blemishes are definitely still peeping through, but sure that’s just life 🙂

xxx    ****PR SAMPLES INCLUDED****

I’ve had the Rimmel Brow Shake Filling Powder in my possession a while now. Actually, I’ve been calling it the Brow This Way Soft Powder, which is what is written on the packaging. But, after googling it to find a Boots link, I couldn’t find anything by that name.

Rimmel Brow Shake Filling Powder

Turns out they call it the Rimmel Brow Shake Filling Powder everywhere! Anyhow, I digress 🙂 This is a new (ish) brow powder from Rimmel.

Rimmel Brown Shake

It comes in a little bottle, with it’s own applicator inside. I picked up the shade 002 Medium Brown, which is a pretty ok match for my brows. It does come in four shades though ranging from black to blonde.

irish beauty blogger
beauty blog ireland

It reminds me very much of a powder eye liner. It has the same type of flat, but rounded applicator on the lid.

Rimmel Brow This WayRimmel Irelandirish beauty blog

The premise is you shake up the powder product onto the applicator while the packaging is still closed and then it is loaded up to fill your brows in with.

top irish beauty blog

It has a shaker ball within the lid, which I find a bit odd. If it was going to help keep the powder separated, surely it should be in the container itself? Perhaps I have the complete wrong end of the stick about how it works and if I do, I apologise 🙂

The powder itself packs alot of punch which is great. The medium shade has a greyish undertone too which I always like as well. It seems to adhere to the skin well and lasts too.

For me, I find the packaging and the applicator or the Rimmel Brow Shake doesn’t really work. If you have fabulous full brows (like Cara in the promo ads), I think this would work quite well for you. You can just fill in any gaps lightly really quickly with it and comb through to take away any excess with a spooley and, you’d be good to go. For my struggling brows, the sponge applicator is just too big and rounded. It picks up and applies too much product. I need more precision and have more control over my application.

beauty blogger

I find the sponge can drop alot of the powder too on the way from the bottle to your face, which can be a tad messy.

It works ok on my ‘better brow’, which I am showing here. On my right brow, it’s a bit of a disaster!

Overall, I like the powder within. Just for me, the packaging and execution doesn’t really work. You can find the Rimmel Brow Shake Filling Powder in Boots in store on online for €7.99 here. Have you tried it?

I wanted to create a simple Summer makeup look and I made it a bit more interesting and used all affordable makeup products!

top irish beauty blogger

This is about as fresh and simple summer makeup like my oilier and dare I say more mature skin will get 😛 Obviously, there is the bb cream and lip balm option too. This is more the ‘put together’ simple makeup look. After I filmed this I went out and had some dinner and felt very much put together.

On a side note, how much difference does filling in my brows make??

My simple summer makeup does use alot of products, but sure that’s how I roll and they are all affordable and easy to get a hold of here in Ireland. I used alot of L’Oréal products, Not on purpose, it just what I seemed to gravitate towards at time of application 🙂
