I am sure you are no stranger to the L’Oréal Color Riche Lipstick. The brand are constantly bringing out different versions of them. I only spoke about the Gold Obsession collection here at the end of last year. I recieved some of the L’Oréal Color Riche Matte Addiction Lipsticks and I thought I give you an overview.

L'Oréal Color Riche Matte Addiction Lipstick

I am definitely more of a matte lipstick wearer. I do dabble in a glossy finish from time to time. Generally though, a more matte finish is my thing. I do believe some of the shades (upon googling) have been out in different formats before, but the L’Oréal Color Riche Matte Addiction formula is being called their ‘boldest, most moisturising matte lipsticks.’

I have three of the colours from the collection here, but Boots and Superdrug, among other places, have an abundance of shades to choose from.

L'Oréal lipstick

The packaging is what you would expect from the Color Riche range with a matte black finish.

The scent is typical of L’Oréal lippies. It reminds me of my Cabbage Patch Doll. D’ya remember what they smelled like? It is quite strong and sweet. I myself find it kind of nostalgic, but I am sure it could be off putting for other people.

Onto the swatching 🙂

640 ‘Erotique’. The brown nude shade of the three:

463 ‘Plum Tuxedo’. A pink with purple tones, definitely not plum. It’s also less opaque than the other two shades I have:

The L’Oréal Color Riche Matte Addiction Lipsticks are super soft and pigmented. They have a matte velvet finish, but don’t dry down completely on the lips. This means you will get residue, but it also means they don’t crack or feel super uncomfortable either. Because the formula is so soft, I do recommend using a lip brush to apply the bolder colours and it is harder to get a strong line straight from the bullet. They last reasonably well on the lips and the deeper colours do leave behind a stain. Overall, I am a big fan of the formula.

The L’Oréal Color Riche Matte Addiction Lipstick seem to vary in price online. Boots have them on 3 for 2 at the moment here. They are priced at €10.49 each.

Do any of the shades tickle your fancy?

Off the bat, I will say, I am not a very ‘typical’ romantic person. Romance to me is very simple. Give me time and give me food and I’ll be yours forever 🙂 Saying that, it’s always fun to have a reason to be a little creative with your makeup. So this is my interpretation of Valentine’s Makeup. I took major inspo from the gorgeous look Lily Collins rocked to the Golden Globes this year. The look was created by Fiona Stiles, using all Lancôme products.

Valentine's Makeup Look

Now, some obvious disclaimers, I do not look anything like Lily Collins, I am not as talented as Fiona Stiles and I am using no Lancôme products to do my makeup 🙂 I just really enjoy the idea of the soft pink eye and the bold red lip. Actually the beautiful Emma, creator of the blog Ol’ Green Eyes recreated this look on her social media too and did a beautiful job. So she has definitely inspired me aswell.

For my Valentine’s makeup look interpretation, I went a bit more shimmery on the eyes and used a more glossy red on the lips.

You can see my look take shape in the YouTube video above or you can click here to see it directly on my channel.

The main components of this Valentine’s makeup look for me, were the Nyx Lid Lingerie Eye Tint in Rose Pearl, I used that as a base on the eyes. You can see swatches of it here. I used the eyeshadow ‘Paranoia’ from the Urban Decay Full Spectrum Palette then over top. You can see this swatched in a previous post here.

The lip choice I went for was the Essence Longlasting Lipliner in 01 ‘Ready For Red’. With the Métier De Beauté Hydra-Crème lipstick in ‘Maraschino’ over the top. This is a new brand to Spacenk here in Dublin. John bought me it for Christmas and I am in love with the formula and colour. Pricey, but a really lovely treat.

And there you have my really simple ode to Valentine’s Day in makeup form. Let me know what you think. Would you wear red and pink together? I never thought I would, but I am actually in love with the combo now.

I did a post similar to this last here year for my first Christmas in Beautynook world. It’s a festive red lip for under a fiver. I still love and use both of products I used, these are just alternatives for your 2016 Festive Red Lipstick look 🙂

festive red lipstick

I think a decent lip liner is as important as the lipstick you choose when rocking a red lip. You can by all means go for a more soft approach and that’s beautiful too. But, when you’re going full out bright and Christmas-sy red, I think a crisp lip line is important. And you don’t want any bleeding, I mean lipstick bleeding but of course we don’t want any bleeding at all 🙂

festive red lipstick

For this year’s festive red lipstick lip liner, I went with the Rimmel Exaggerate in ‘Red Diva’.

irish beauty blog

I am a big fan of the Rimmel Exaggerate lip liners. They are super soft and easy to apply. And they now have an angled twist up nib which I find really handy for outlining and correcting my lip line. ‘Red Diva’ is the perfect classic red colour and actually works really nicely on it’s own as well.

This costs €5.49 and you can get it from the Boots website here.

The lipstick I chose is a new release for 2016. It’s one of the new Lip VIP’s from Sleek Makeup. It is called ‘Walk Of Fame’.

These are a semi matte formula lipstick. They are really creamy, pigmented and very comfortable to wear.

I just think both of these products together are a really lovely and affordable festive red lipstick combination. The Sleek Lip Vip’s are available from Boots too for €7.49 here.

Matte lips are everywhere at the minute so I thought I would go old school with more of a creamy textured combo. Layering the products means they are still long lasting but they won’t dry out your lips as much.

It is such a cliché I know, but I just love a red lip during Christmas time 🙂

The Penneys PS Love Lip Liners have dare I say reached a bit of a cult status in the online beauty world.

Penneys PS Love Lip Liners

We constantly see them in flat lays and in favourites, or at least I do anyway 🙂 I am no stranger to talking about them myself either may I add. But, I’ve never done a post on them specifically. So here are my overall thoughts.

Penneys PS Love Lip Liners

I have four shades of the Penneys PS Love Lip Liners in my lip liner stash. Say that with a few gins on board!

top beauty blog

All four shades are pigmented, soft, true to colour and apply to the lips without dragging or feeling uncomfortable. That’s no mean feat! That being said, because they are softer, I personally wouldn’t use them just on their own. I would just use them to do the job of actually lining the lips before lipstick. Or, I would add a gloss or balm over the top. They do transfer and fade after a short period of time, in my experience.

The one I use the most and looks a bit stubby next to it’s colourful friends is the brown, more neutral shade in 06.

My next most used would probably be the red in 05. It is a brilliant true red colour.

I actually did a post last year including this here. It’s about getting a festive red lip for under a fiver if you want to check it out. I think out of the four liner shades I have, this would be the most long wearing.

Then we have the deep plum shade in 04.

For me, this is the one that fades the quickest. But, paired under a similar coloured lipstick, it helps stop bleeding and gives you cleaner edges. If of course that’s what you want.

The last shade I have is a light powdery pink in 07.

This is my least used out of the four I have. Just because the colour doesn’t particularly suit me. Saying that, it works great for adding some pink to a more neutral lipstick. And, you can use it under darker shades and it won’t interfere with the colour of them too much.

penneys makeup

Overall, I think it’s fair to say the Penneys PS Love Lip Liners are a hit with me. And for €1.50 they definitely won’t break the bank either. Makeup bargain personified!

I know it’s a tad early, but Christmas is only a few weeks away now. I am a big fan of Santy season, I’ll take any excuse to talk about it here on Beautynook 🙂 I haven’t done a Get Ready With Me style video in a while so, I thought I would start the season off with a Festive Makeup GRWM 🙂

festive makeup get ready with me

I reckon I can call it festive makeup because I added some Christmas music over it and used a bit of sparkle.

I did speed the video up, but I edited very little of it out, so this is my makeup pretty much from start to finish, just 4 times as fast. I was going out that night so I did apply a fair bit of slap, but sure we’re all makeup lovers here, right? 🙂

So, as you might have seen in my last post here. I hauled some Bourjois products in Boots. They are currently doing 3 for 2 and I took full advantage 🙂

bourjois haul

I love the Bourjois brand overall, but some products for me can be hit or miss. However, their Rouge Edition Velvet matte liquid lipsticks are probably one of my ride or die matte lip formulas. And for some reason, I have never done a proper review of them. Since I bought two shades last week (as well as a new mascara), I thought I would show you the colours as well as the formula in action. And, give you my first impressions of their new Volume Reveal mascara in waterproof. I have seen alot of good things about this mascara online so I thought I would add my thoughts into the mix.

red lip

The two shades of the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvets I picked up are:

08 Grand Cru which I thought was more of a deep matte red off the bat. It comes off as a brighter red on the lips though.

I will say although both of these dry down to a matte finish, the formula itself doesn’t dry down completely unless you wait for every layer to dry completely. I do love the texture and the finish of them though. They last well and fade leaving a stain behind. The colour range is great too. The Rouge Edition Velvets retail for €12.99. You can get them in store or online from Boots here.

My other purchase was of course the Volume Reveal Waterproof Mascara.

bourjois volume reveal

It comes with a x3 zoom mirror on the side of the tube. Not sure if I would get much use of it. But you never know 🙂

bourjois mascara

It has a quite a large plastic spooley.

The formula itself is thick and dries very quickly. You can layer it but you have to work fast. It definitely does give plenty of volume to the lashes though.

Not as much curl as I would usually like, but it is more of a voluminous formula. And it’s fair to say it does what it says on the tin 🙂

The Volume reveal comes in non waterproof and waterproof and retails for €13.99 again in Boots in store or online here.

And that’s my 3 for 2 Bourjois haul done! Let me know if you like this type of show and tell. I would love your feedback 🙂
