Glam Purple Makeup Tutorial

This was like all my makeup look posts pretty much off the cuff 🙂 I needed to do my makeup, had some time so thought I would do a glam purple makeup ‘tutorial’.

I hate calling it a tutorial, but that’s what people seem to search so it just gives me more reach. As I always reiterate, I’m a makeup enthusiast, I know I’m not a professional. I had notions of attempting to do a cut crease, but my hands just wouldn’t let me, so this is what I came up with 🙂

There’s definitely a mix of high end brands and more affordable brands within this purple makeup look. I don’t think it’s too over complicated either.

I think I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. To me it’s a glam purple makeup look. I could see myself rocking this on a night out. Pretend I didn’t just do it and then sit on my laptop for the rest of the day 🙂

One Eyeshadow Makeup Look

As a bit of a makeup fiend, I know I can get a bit over zealous with the eyeshadow application. I buy ALOT of makeup and am lucky to receive PR samples doing what I’m doing. I’ve gained quite the collection over the years, so have a lot to choose from. I thought I would bring it back to basics a little for this post and show how you can achieve a really wearable, pretty (in my humble opinion) look, using just one eyeshadow. This is my really simple one eyeshadow makeup look.

Initially I was going to go for a matte brown eyeshadow, as it would be super wearable. But every time I rock a purple eye, I always get questions about what I used. I found this Nars Dual Intensity eyeshadow in Phoebe, not going to lie, at the back of one of my drawers. It’s a really nice flattering shade of purple, so I made this my weapon of choice for my one eyeshadow makeup look.

This video is more about placement and blending though rather than the eyeshadow itself. The techniques will generally work for most shadows. Darker ones might take a little more work blending though just to note. But, for any light or medium shadow, two brushes and a warmed up blending hand should work a treat 🙂

So click on the video for my tips and tricks for using one eyeshadow to create a whole eye look. I did use lashings of mascara (Catrice Lashes To Kill Pro and Mac Extended Play). As well as a flesh coloured eyeliner in the waterline too, just to pull everything together. The star of the show is definitely the shadow though and it’s super easy to achieve, I promise.

Summer Makeup Essentials!

Since the sun is shining, don’t say that too loud, we might spook it! But, since it is, I thought I would put together some of my summer makeup essentials. This isn’t so much about the products, just dive into your collection and see what you have already to play with.

These are products I have in my stash right now. I love shopping my stash, especially when a new season begins.

Summer makeup for me, is about a light base and having fun with everything else.

My skin tends to behave itself a little bit more in the summer months so I can spend less time on my base. It still needs help though!

My Summer makeup will always consist of primers. I have oily skin.

I just find adding a few dabs of it to the t zone and blending it out over my whole face, really helps with the longevity of anything I put on top of it. Eyeshadow primer is another must for me. All year round, but particularly in the warmer months. Oily lids are no joke! I am really enjoying The Ordinary High Adherence Silicone Primer (you can buy it here) and Benefit Porefessional has always been a holy grail for me.

Because I use a more mattifying primer, I find I can go a little bit more dewy and light with the foundation.

If I know I am going to be out in the sun for a long period of time, I will of course use sun protection on my face. However, it does tend to melt my makeup. So, if I am going somewhere that is more shaded, I’ll use a foundation with SPF.

One very important Summer makeup essential for me, is coloured eye liners.

Whether it be liquid, gel, waterproof pencil, or pencil with eyeshadow over top, this is something I cannot get enough of in Summer. It is just such a fun way to add something to your makeup without trying too hard. I love applying a slick of it across the lash line. If I am feeling extra daring, I’ll even attempt to wing it out. Adding a pop of colour to your water line too is a lovely way to incorporate a hint of colour to a makeup look aswell. I used the Nyx Vivid Brights Liner here in a makeup look last Summer.

Without waterproof mascara, I am a basic lash person.

My lashes are straight and need waterproof mascara to hold a curl. It is imperative in the Summer time too though. It is a bitch to get off, but a decent waterproof mascara means you don’t have to worry about panda eyes behind your sunglasses. Or if you suffer with watery eyes, you are less inclined to have black marks down your cheeks. I talk about two of my favourites pictured here and here.

My last Summer makeup essential is a glossy lip. I never thought I would say those words, but glossy lip products have come such a long way.

They don’t have to be sticky and they can be super long wearing and colourful too. Products like the Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfectors are great. They add shine with a hint of colour as well as nourish the lips. So handy to throw in your bag for top ups throughout the day.

Casual Night Out Makeup GET READY WITH ME

I am back with another Get Ready With Me video! This one is a more casual night out makeup look.

I was heading to a blogger event that evening, so knew I needed to put a bit more makeup on than the average day. It wasn’t a full on lashes and glam scenario though, hence the name ‘casual night out makeup’. 🙂

We were dog sitting so it was really nice to turn the camera on somewhere else and film. Also, the surroundings were much nicer than what I am accustomed too in my little house, that’s for sure 🙂 Louis the schnauzer was also on hand to make a cameo at the end of the video. How cute is he though? He slept right through filming on the couch beside me.

As always, I will try list all the products I used. Of course, if I miss something and you’re curious, just ask. I love nothing more than to talk makeup with people.

My Colourpop Eyeshadows

Since Colourpop have begun shipping to Ireland, I have made three orders from their website. The shipping is pretty expensive, I know. They do free shipping every so often though and the products themselves are pretty cheap. I try to keep my orders below the tax threshold of €25 which is a pain in the bum. But sure look I won’t complain 🙂 I have four shadows in my collection at the moment, but I thought I could update this post as I add to my collection. So, here is my Colourpop eyeshadows, so far 🙂

Three of them definitely fall into a similar colour wheel and then there’s a wild card in there for good measure.

Their powder products have the most unusual texture that I’ve spoken about before. The formula feels wet and spongy to the touch. They come in a screw top container so they don’t dry out.

The four Colourpop eyeshadows I own are soft and pigmented. The metallic ones are my preferred texture and finish out of the bunch. You get the best application from all of them when you apply with your fingertips. You can apply with a brush, it just takes a bit more work and building up.

First up we have ‘LaLa’. This is a rose gold metallic shadow. It’s probably my favourite and most used out of all four I own.

My next favourite would be ‘Gameface’. This is a warm toned metallic bronze.

Third in my collection is ‘Elixir’, the only true matte of the bunch. It’s a warm terracotta colour.

Then last I have ‘Envy’. This was a really random choice for me. It’s a matte black with flecks of purple glitter running through it. Not an everyday pick, but I’m sure it will come in handy, someday 🙂

Sleek The Rockstars Collection

Let me introduce to you the Sleek The Rockstars Collection in all of it’s glory.

I was lucky enough to go to the launch of it this week and went home with the whole collection generously in my goodie bag. So, since I have it all and it is rolling into Boots around the country as we speak. I had to swatch and get it up to show you as soon as possible.

The packaging of the Sleek The Rockstars Collection off the bat is super lovely. Even the outer packaging, which I had to show you as well 🙂

It consists of an eyeshadow palette, two Strobing soufflés, and two Lip VIP lipsticks.

First up we have the Diamonds In The Rough i Lust Palette.

It contains six gold toned shimmering shades.

The first and the last shades are creams while the four in the middle are powder.

From left to right we have: Solitaire, Trillion, Princess, Asscher, Marquise, Radiant.

The Diamond In The Rough i Lust Palette costs €9.49.

Next up in the collection we have the Sleek Strobing Soufflés. There is two to choose from.

‘Smoky Quartz’ which Sleek describe as a sparkly, translucent gold.

‘Pink Opal’ is described by Sleek as a sheer shimmery pink.

Both of the soufflés have actual coloured glitter running through them. I think these would actually make really nice eyeshadow bases. They would work really well with the Diamond In The Rough Palette. You will be able to pick these up for €8.99.

Lastly in the collection we have lip VIP metallic finish lipsticks.

‘Scandalous’ is described as a ruby red shade.

It is a deep red with blue toned shimmery flecks running through it.

‘Superstar’ is described as an amethyst purple.

It is a deep, but I think wearable purple colour with again a blue toned shimmer. The formula of these lippies is so lovely. They are soft and creamy but still super pigmented and last really well. These will set you back €7.49 a piece.

And there you have the new limited edition Sleek The Rockstars Collection. 🙂 It is being rolled out to Sleek stockists as we speak. So keep an eye out in store and online if anything takes your fancy. I saw it at the start of the week in Boots, Dundrum!
