affordable makeup favesI’ve harped on about some of these products online too much now. I thought I needed to do a dedicated post showing you them a bit more in depth. So here are my current affordable makeup Spring faves đŸ™‚Affordable Makeup Faves Spring

I apologise in advance if you’re sick of me talking about the PS Bronze Shade & Shimmer Eyeshadow Palette. I did a whole post here dedicated to this Penneys Collection. I believe it’s in stores pretty much as we speak.

I didn’t swatch the palette though and I really think it deserves it now. I have honestly reached for this so much since I was given it. And not because I felt I had to if that makes sense? Being a beauty blogger, I do have to make a point to try products again and again. For €6, you get nine warm eyeshadow shades. They’re a mixture of mattes and shimmers and all compliment each other. Are they the softest, most pigmented shadows I’ve ever used? No, but for the price point they are pretty bloody awesome!

Continuing on from the palette, another affordable makeup Spring fave from Penneys, are their cream eyeshadow pots. And a disclaimer, I am only calling them makeup Spring faves because it’s Spring now. These are fine all year round ha.

I picked up two of these while I was in Edinburgh a while back from the PS Nudes Collection.top irish beauty blogger

A matte and a metallic one just to try. I went to the launch of this collection and they were one of the things I was most intrigued about. Also at €2.50 each I thought they were worth the financial risk đŸ™‚

I did however take the bloody stickers off them absentmindedly and they had the names on them, so I don’t know what they’re called. But they’re creamy and pigmented so I’ll forgive them not putting the names on the containers.

I’ve another two from the Bronze Collection too.

They’re super easy to work with and pack a real punch as a cream eyeshadow base. They’re a little slippy in texture so I don’t know how well they would fare on their own, without powder on top. I find the pots a bit of a pain. Fingers do not fit very comfortably inside them, but a synthetic brush works grand. That’s what I used to swatch them above.

The eyeshadow base I have been using for last couple of months is the Zoeva Matte Eyeshadow Fix.

zoeva cosmetics ireland

Don’t let the word matte deter you. It has more of a velvet finish in my humble opinion.

affordable makeup favourites

I just think it’s a damn good eyeshadow primer. I have super oily lids so I’m generally a decent judge of what’s good and what isn’t in this department. A little goes a long way, it doesn’t interfere with whatever you put on top and it helps fill in fine lines too. €8.95 is a decent price for it.

The Madison M5 brush has been another firm favourite of mine over the past few weeks.

This comes as part of a 12 piece brush set available here for €39.95.top irish beauty blogIt’s a super soft synthetic brush. I have been loving it for setting under my eyes. I’m enjoying quite a few of the brushes from the set, this one in-particular stands out though as I reach for it pretty much everyday.

My last affordable makeup Spring fave is a new in lippie from Essence.

irish beauty sute

This kind of shade is a no brainer for me really. I am a mauve lipstick whore. It’s called 10 Rosey Glitz.

When I’m not reaching for a matte finish day to day this is a great sheer, you don’t really have to think about applying it colour. It’s super flattering and feels really nice on the lips. I also think it retails for about 3 quid. Bargain!

And there you have my affordable makeup Spring faves đŸ™‚

The cabin fever has gotten to me and the tangents are mighty. Hope you don’t mind a bit of rambling đŸ™‚

In my cabin fevered state, I managed to add in a favourite that I spoke about already in my January favourites. I could have edited it out, but then I thought, I loved it enough to talk about it twice, so I must really like it!

My first get ready with me for 2018! You know I love these videos myself, I love zoning out and just watching the makeup take shape. This makeup look is one I did to go out for dinner.

I had some new products I wanted to use and I wanted to look put together but not too dolled up, if that makes sense?irish beauty youtuber

Now of course that’s up for interpretation. You could look at this makeup look and think you could never in a million years put this much makeup on.

Primer: Fenty Beauty Instant Retouch Primer all over and the LA Girl Pro Prep Smoothing Face Primer on the T Zone for extra …priming đŸ™‚

Foundation: EstĂ©e Lauder Double Wear Nude Foundation. (Review here), mixed with the LA Girl HD Foundation. Completely unnecessary to mix foundations, it’s just something I like to do to change up colour, coverage, longevity, depending on the scenario.
Eyebrows: LA Girl Shady Slim Brow Pencil. Freedom Brow Powder Duo. Rimmel Lasting Finish Concealer, I used this on my face where I needed extra coverage too. Benefit Gimme Brow for a bit of added texture  and then Benefit 24 HR Brow Setter to set them all in place.irish beauty blogger

Eyes: Zoeva Matte Eyeshadow Fix. theBalm Meet Matt(e) Shmaker I did a blogpost about this here the eyeliner used on the upper lash line is in this post too, along with the Mary-Dew Manizer highlight. I used that in the inner corners of my eyes and on my cheekbones. The main eyeshadow palette used was the Huda Beauty Smokey Obsessions. The Pixi Endless Silky Eye Pen in Rose Glow was used in the waterline. To finish I added a tiny bit of the Pixi Liquid Fairy Lights in Crystalline over the top of everything. Mascaras used were the Catrice Lashes To Kill Pro and Mac Extended Play.

The rest of the face consisted of: Tarte Shape Tape Concealer. Isa Dora Blotting Powder. Max Factor Creme Bronzer. La Girl Just Blushing blush in Just Peachy. theBalm Mary-Lou Manizer highlighter and then the Too Faced Hangover Setting Spray.

Finally, lips were the Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat Lip Pencil in Pillow Talk with the Fenty Gloss Bomb over top.

Ok, writing it out, it’s a hell of a lot of product to use in one makeup look I know, but I do go a bit extra with things. Not all steps are necessary đŸ™‚

January Favourites 2018

It’s time for my first faves of 2018! Yep, it’s January favourites time. I think I say this in every favourites post, but didn’t that month go fast? I’m actually in disbelief that it’s already February.

Quick disclaimer! My camera for some reason was on a low resolution setting while I filmed this. I am not too knowledgable about the technical side of all this stuff unfortunately. So as a result, this video isn’t in HD. I apologise profusely. I wanted to upload it anyways, because I think if I filmed it again, it would be more contrived as I would be repeating myself. Hope you don’t mind.

My January favourites for this year consist mostly of beauty things, (shock horror), with one ‘fashion’ thing thrown in for good measure. I also chat….in depth about one oral hygiene product. I honestly didn’t think I had that much to say on the subject and I was going to cut a lot of it out. But it ended up being a little personal story about me along with a good chunk of jabber so I kept it in. Hope you don’t mind. I always worry people just want to hear about the products and thats it. But then I remember I want to try make videos I would actually watch and I love a bit of life waffle amidst all of the beauty talk đŸ™‚

January Favourites 2018

As always I’ll list the things I chat about in case you want to learn more about them.

Oral B Electric toothbrush is just from Boots online here.

irish beauty blogger

Design.Me hair products. The website is here. Salon Services has one of their products in stock online, so hopefully that means they will get more in over time.

Huda Beauty Smokey Obsessions Palette. You can buy online here. My review of the Mauve Obsessions is here if you want to check it out.beauty blogger ireland

Zoeva Matte Eyeshadow Fix is online here.beauty blog ireland

Catrice Lashes To Kill Pro Waterproof Mascara. It comes in non waterproof too. I actually think this was already a standing mascara, they might have just updated the packaging. Regardless, I bloody love it and have been using it everyday since it was sent to me. I can’t find it online, but it’s in Penneys and decent pharmacies nationwide now. I’ll do a full review of it soon so you can see it in action.

irish beauty blog

My very last January favourite is a pair of runners. I think everyone in the world has at the moment. Old Skool Vans!

I have the suede ones. John got me these for Christmas and apparently people say the suede ones are easier to break in. He got them from Littlewoods but I found them on JD Sports here.

And I’m done! Let me know what you were enjoying especially in January. Click here to check out the video in full and as always thanks for watching đŸ™‚

Brown Thomas Makeup HaulNo I definitely do not have money in January to be throwing around  in Brown Thomas!

makeup haul

Every Christmas my brother gives me a voucher for BT and I am never mad at it. It means I can still makeup shop whilst poor after the festive period đŸ™‚Brown Thomas

I went into Brown Thomas initially to spend it. I’m not too far from Grafton Street. If you follow me on Snapchat (username: Beautynook), you would have seen the scenario. Initially, I was going to blow all €75 on Huda Beauty.zoeva cosmetics

The Mauve Obsessions palette is already in my possession. (Blogpost on it here). I knew they were out of the Warms Palette, but had the Smoky from checking online. The plan was to take the plunge on that and maybe get some other bits to try from the brand.Huda Beauty

I found out on that day, that just because something is in stock on the Brown Thomas website does not mean they have it in store. They have separate warehouses apparently. So, I walked away with nothing and had to do my shopping online. A bit frustrating, but sure I’m a little more calmer shopping online, less distraction and I’m less likely to overspend đŸ™‚

I decided to do click and collect in store just because they will charge you a delivery rate regardless of your spend. But, it’s free to get it delivered in to your local branch.

So what did I buy?

I did end up getting the Huda Beauty Smoky Obsessions Palette.

makeup shopping
irish beauty blog

I know there’s mixed feelings about these little palettes. The Mauves Obsessions is in major rotation in my makeup routine, so I wanted to extend my collection and try another shade range.

Everything else I picked up is from Zoeva. Yes, Brown Thomas stock it now! You can get it in store now too in their Beauty Lounge which is adjacent to the main store on Clarendon street.

I decided to get another eyeshadow palette to try. Zoeva are such a lovely brand in my opinion. I got their Plaisir Box (review here), a couple of years back for Christmas and the palettes are beautiful.

This time I went with the Aristo Palette. For not particular reason really. It’s new and it had a couple of more interesting shades along with more wearable colours. I just thought it would be fun to play with.irish beauty bloggerbeauty blog ireland

Their Graphic Brow pencil in the shade Cinereous made it into my basket.

beauty blogger irelandtop irish beauty blog I needed a new micro brow pencil and thought this would be a good one to try.

Another more practical purchase was their Eyeshadow Fix.top irish beauty bloggertop beauty blog ireland

I got the matte one to give a go. It comes in pearl too. Eyeshadows mean nothing to me without a decent primer. I have super oily lids.

The last thing I got was a bit of a random buy. This is the Zoeva Strobe Gel in Halo. It comes in three shades.

beauty blog Curiosity made me click on this. It’s a gel highlighter. It is literally a goo highlighter, I can’t wait to dig in!

The packaging is really nice. It comes in a 15ml glass pot. Hopefully the gel itself is nice too!

And that’s it for my Brown Thomas haul! Keep an eye out here on Beautynook if you’re curious about any of the products. I am sure there’ll be reviews and demos galore in the coming weeks đŸ™‚

The theme is definitely in the title. This is a full face of makeup using one brand, theBalm Cosmetics.

theBalm Cosmetics

I did a post a little while ago about their newest releases here. It’s only fair that these make an appearance in the video, as well as some well known products too.

theBalm Cosmetics Foiled Again Eyeshadow Palette

This is my first time really delving into theBalm Cosmetics like this. I am definitely only a dabbler in the brand. All that I had tried though I did enjoy. Especially Mary-Lou and their ‘Put A Lid on It’ eyeshadow primer. (I reviewed this here ages ago too).

I was lucky enough to get sent these products from theBalm Cosmetics to test out, so most of them are new to me, so you will be getting my first impressions on them too. As always I’ll list everything below, with a link to where you can get them:

top irish beauty blogger

  • Timebalm Primer. Available from Debenhams here. theBalm PR told me this has really similar ingredients to their eyeshadow primer so I used this on my lids too.
  • Even Steven Foundation in light. Available here.
  • Brow Pow in light and dark brown. Available here.
  • Foiled Again Eyeshadow Palette. (Only available in store from Debenhams at the minute).
  • Schwing Liquid Liner. Available here.
  • Mad Lash Mascara. Available here.
  • Sexy Mama Translucent Powder. Available here.
  • Bahama Mama Bronzing Powder. Available here.
  • Girls’ getaway Trio. Available here.
  • Mary-Lou Manizer Highlighter. Available here.
  • Bonnie-Lou Manizer. (Only available in store from Debenhams right now).

theBalm Cosmetics Makeup Lookbeauty blog

The look I ended up creating was similar to a look I shared on social media a couple of weeks ago that went down quite well. So I thought I would recreate it using all theBalm Cosmetics products. (I had just used the Foiled Again Palette initially).

I am really happy overall with how all the products performed. On first impressions, I will definitely use all of them again. I’ll keep you posted about how I get on.
