The Bourjois Palette Le Smoky and Les Nudes are the newest eyeshadow palette from French brand Bourjois.

Bourjois Palette Les Nudes

Both of the palettes come in cool plastic packaging with a magnetic lid.

Bourjois Palette Le Smoky

It is similar to the packaging on their Dèlice de Soleil Bronzer.

Bourjois Ireland

The lid contains a really good sized mirror which you can twist around 360 degrees.

They also come with a dual sponged tipped applicator. This doesn’t really float my boat if I’m honest though.

As you can of course tell from the names, one of the palettes is meant to be more suited to smoky eye looks. The other more suited to more neutral eye looks. Smoky I can get on board with, the Nudes, not so much. But, let me show you both in action 🙂

First up we have the Bourjois Palette Le Smoky:

It contains eight shades ranging from an ice white, silver, grey, blue, purple to black.

Then, we have the Bourjois Palette Les Nudes.

Again there are eight shades in this palette, ranging from white, silver, purple, gold and brown. To me, this palette isn’t really representative of nude/neutral eyeshadow shades at all. The last four shades, maybe, but the first four shades are icy cool toned colours that I don’t really associate with the term nude (in eyeshadow talk anyways 🙂 ).

Both of these palettes are full of shimmer and glitter. If you don’t like shimmer, you wont like them whatsoever! They both have one matte shade that is the darkest colour in both of the palettes. After giving both of them a whirl, I will say the shadows are ok. They feel soft to the touch and they definitely apply more opaque with your fingers. But, you can get pay off (not as much though) with a brush. I used a mixture of both of them here:

They aren’t the easiest to work with and there is fallout and it’s sparkly, so be prepared to have to clean that up. Also, the colour arrangements are a bit odd, I think. And there is a lack of transition colours, so you will probably have to incorporate some other shadows in if you creating more of a look with them. They do last well on the eyelids, well at least they did on mine with a primer underneath.

The Bourjois Palette Le Smoky and Les Nudes are available in Boots stores or online here now. They retail for €15.99 a piece. But, Bourjois have a 2 for €15 deal on at the minute. So if you like what you see you better work fast 🙂 I think that price point is much more suited to them personally.

I’ve seen this comparison being made a few times online, so I had to investigate it myself! Today I am comparing (and contrasting) the cult beauty product that is the YSL Touche Eclat to the purse friendly W7 Light Diffusing Concealer.

ysl touch eclat

I will say, when it comes to the word ‘dupe’, I am very reluctant to ever use it, and in this comparison it will not be muttered again, because in my humble opinion, these products are not the same!

Just in case, you haven’t encountered either of these products throughout your makeup journey yet, I’ll give you a quick synopsis of both.

We’ll start by talking about the YSL Touche Eclat. It comes in encased it the well known sleek metal plated gold packaging.

ysl vs w7

Mine says ‘no need to sleep’ on it. They brought out some slogan collectors edition ones not too long ago. They’ve also since released colour correction variations of the YSL Touche Eclat. What I have here is just the original highlighter in number 1.

You click the top to release the product into the brush.

ysl ireland

The YSL Touche Eclat is a skin highlighter. It’s not a concealer, although I know alot of people use it for this purpose, as it does have some coverage to it. It does have a salmon hue to it aswell so can work to help brighten under the eyes. It has a creamy really blend-able texture. For me and my skin tone, it doesn’t do much highlighting unfortunately, I can get away with it a little under my eyes. Overall, it’s a really unnecessary purchase (that I’ve made about 5 times in my lifetime) because everyone loves it so much, I want to aswell 🙂

On to the W7 Light Diffusing Concealer.

under eye concealer review

This product does claim to be a concealer. It comes is a similar looking to the YSL Touche Eclat (from afar) plastic pen.

You twist the top of the pen to get the product out onto the brush, again similar to the YSL.

top irish blog

For me, this is where the comparison ends. The product itself,to me, is just crap. It doesn’t have any major coverage, doesn’t really conceal and can come out of the pen in little hardened balls which makes it hard to blend into the skin.

Here’s both pens swatched side by side. The YSL Touche Eclat is on the left and the W7 Light Diffusing Concealer is on the right. The YSL is more peachy toned and the W7 pen is definitely a more suited colour for highlighting for lighter skinned people like myself.

Close up, I can’t seen any major difference between either eye, except there is a build up of product on the side of nose where I applied the concealer.

Onto the YSL Touche Eclat.

I personally think the YSL Touche Eclat does a better job at concealing even though it’s not actually formulated as a concealer. The W7 Light Diffusing Concealer just doesn’t nothing really.

There is a pretty huge price difference between both of these products. The YSL Touche Eclat will set you back €35, you can get it from Debenhams online here And the the W7 Light Diffusing Concealer will set you back around 5/6 euro depending on where you pick it up. I can’t find a direct Irish stockist link to it, but here it is on the W7 website.

What do you think, would you pick up either? Are you a YSL Touche Eclat advocate?

This is the first time I’ve picked something up because I was asked so many times had I tried it before and what did I think about it. It’s a nice feeling 🙂 So we are talking here about the new (here in Ireland) Maybelline The Blushed Nudes Palette.

Maybelline The Blushed Nudes PaletteI’ve been talking about Maybelline alot of late, just because they’re really consistent with releases at the moment. Some of the releases I am liking, some are a little meh!

Within the Maybelline The Blush Nudes Palette you get 12 eyeshadows with the palettes total weight at 9.6 grams.

The packaging is alright, just your basic plastic encasing. The colour does compliment the name and the shades. It has a clear lid so you see the shadows within it, and you get a dual ended applicator too.

beauty blog ireland

Maybelline say of the palette: ‘This 12-shade eye shadow palette features dazzling colors infused with rose gold pigments. From bold beiges and sultry sands to brazen bronzes and tempting taupes, this makeup palette is perfect for creating versatile eye makeup looks‘.

The colours within are what you would imagine, complimenting blushed tones. All of them but one is shimmery. It is being compared to the Urban Decay Naked 3 online alot and I can understand why looking at it in the pan, although the one that was launched in America seems a little different to the palette we’ve finally gotten across the pond here.

Onto the swatching 🙂

Bottom Layer

The colours swatched well on my arm, but for me the shades don’t really vary alot when it comes to applying them on your eyes. I think any look you do with this palette is going to look very similar. For me, I would have to incorporate another, maybe brown tone palette (with a couple of mattes) into the look.

I can’t say I would call it a dupe for the Naked 3 really either. The shadow quality is definitely not as good as Urban Decay and you have to work harder with them to build up the intensity of the colour. What I will say though, if you want to get the same tonal eyeshadow look without forking out for the Naked 3, you can do so with The Blushed Nudes, it just might take a little longer.

I used the lightest shade here on my brow bone and inner corner, the matte shade in the crease, the last colour on the top row on my lid (and on the lower lash line),with a bit of the golden shade (the first on the bottom row) on top of it here, to show you some of them in action. The colours do blend and they are pigmented, although there is alot of fallout. However, you can probably see for yourself here, there is no real differentiation of colour after you blend them into each other.

You can pick up the Maybelline The Blushed Nudes Palette in-store from Boots or online here. It costs €14.99.

theBalm Meet Matte Nude Palette caused alot of hype when it was first released. As far as I know this is the first palette in the Meet Matte collection, the second was Meet Matte Trimony which is a selection of mattes more on the burgundy side . I picked this palette up from the Makeup Forever Store here in Dublin. They had both palettes but I ended up going for Mr Nude…… 🙂

theBalm Meet Matte Nude

theBalm say ‘You’ve met Matt(e), now it’s time to Meet Matt(e) Nude…nude eyeshadows that is. Because size matt(e)rs, there are nine larger Matt(e)s showing their true colors in nude hues. As a matt(e)r of fact, this palette is versatile enough to wear day and night, as liners and as all-over colors…the whole 9 yards! With so many guys to choose from, you’re sure to find your perfect shade, no matt(e)r what!’

theBalm Meet Matte NudeThe packaging as with all theBalm products is adorable. It’s sturdy enough cardboard with a magnetic closing.

You get a really decent sized mirror too.

irish beauty blog

There’s nine eyeshadows in the palette totally 25.5 grams of product.

theBalm irelandIn my opinion, the shades are a good mix of warm-ish and cool-ish tones, so the palette is quite versatile.

Onto the swatching, the bit we all come to see 🙂

So there you have it. theBalm Meet Matte Nude in all it’s glory. Overall, I think it’s a really nice palette. Some of the shades are a little more powdery than others, making them a bit harder to work with, bit I think I will get alot of use out of it overall.

As I said, I bought it in the Makeup Forever store in Clarendon street here in Dublin, but if you are looking to buy online, you can find it here from Cloud10beauty. It will set you back €44. theBalm is much cheaper in America unfortunately, it seems to be marked up here in Europe quite alot 🙁

Does theBalm Meet Matte Nude take your fancy?

The Maybelline Bricks Bronzer is a new addition to the Maybelline stand. They are on fire at the minute with releases and are constantly updating which is really brilliant! So here are all the deets on this new release and my honest first impressions too!

Maybelline Bricks BronzerThe Maybelline Bricks Bronzer seems to only come is one shade 01 Blondes. You get 7 grams of product within the palette.

irish beauty blogMaybelline describe is as their ‘all in one bronzing palette’ as it has a matte bronzer on one side. And then a shimmery more colourful side on the other.

top irish beauty blog

The packaging on this palette is a bit pants in my opinion. It’s really old school hollow plastic with a clear lid and just doesn’t do anything for me really.

So let’s give both sides a swatch and see how they far on the skin, shall we? 🙂

I’m going to dig into the matte shade first.

top irish beauty bloggerHere it is swatched with my finger on one side and then blended into the skin with a brush on the other.

It’s a warm and not very pigmented bronzer. You really have to build it up.

top blogger irelandThen here’s the shimmery part of the Maybelline Bricks Bronzer.

beauty blog IrelandAnd again swatched with my finger on one side and blended with a brush on the other.

The shimmery side is kind of underwhelming too. It’s more pink than bronze which is not surprising really looking at it in the pan. Once it’s blended out on the skin, it gives very little pay off.

beauty blogger irelandBoth sides are a little powdery too. This is the pan, after I finished swatching.

top blog ireland

Overall, I just think it’s ok, nothing to be too excited about!

I picked up the Maybelline Bricks Bronzer in Boots, but it doesn’t seem to be listed on the website yet which is a bit of a pain! It cost me €11.49 which isn’t particularly cheap I know! Here’s a link to it on the Superdrug site in case you want to see any more information on it.

Would it float your bronzing boat? Let me know 🙂

These are some of the new Rimmel Moisture Renew Sheer And Shine Lipsticks, that I am sure you have probably seen on your social media feed alot of late, if you follow lots of lovely bloggers like myself 🙂 I don’t mean I’m a lovely blogger I mean I follow lovely bloggers ha! Anyways…

Rimmel Moisture Renew Sheer And Shine LipsticksRimmel Moisture Renew Sheer And Shine Lipsticks

Rimmel already have their Moisture Renew Lipsticks, these ones pack more of a colour punch than the new Rimmel Moisture Renew Sheer And Shine Lipsticks that have more of a sheer colour.

irish beauty blogger

The Boots description of them is:’Rimmel London Moisture Renew Sheer & Shine Lipstick, a moisturising lipstick with a translucent, luminous, vitamin-enriched colour. This gloss-in-a-stick moisturises lips, giving a radiant touch of juicy colour and energising shine.Added SPF 20 helps protect your luscious lips from the harmful effects of the sun.’

There are eight varying shades in this new collection to choose from. Boots Ireland only seems to have six of them available though. They vary from the general lipstick colours, red, pink, coral, mauve, brown, nude. The usual shades us lipstick junkies are looking for.

I have 3 of them to showcase for you today 🙂

irish beauty websiteirish makeup and beauty blogbeauty blogOn first swatch the Rimmel Moisture Renew Sheer And Shine Lipsticks remind me alot of the Revlon Lip Butters we all went crazy for a couple of years ago. I loved them so much I bought colours on eBay that you couldn’t even get in Europe at the time, that’s makeup dedication right there 🙂

The Rimmel Moisture Renew Sheer And Shine Lipsticks definitely have a colour to them, while feeling really comfortable on the lips. If you like a defined lip line I don’t think these will work for you as they are really soft and nearly like a gloss without being annoyingly sticky. They also don’t have the Rimmel telltale lipstick smell, they do have a very light  kind of fruity fragrance to them, but nothing in comparison to what we would be used to with Rimmel of late.

Overall, I think the Rimmel Moisture Renew Sheer And Shine Lipsticks have a very long name yep :). I think they’re really pretty, but I can’t say they’re anything new really.

If you’re in the market for a sheer glossy lipstick, the Rimmel Moisture Renew Sheer and Shine’s will set you back €8.29, are on 3 for 2 instore in Boots or online here in Boots at the moment.

What do you think of them?
