This has been a bit of a funny week for me. If you follow me on Snapchat, you’ll probably already know. And, I touch on it a bit in the video aswell. Last week was lovely, we spent it in Spain (Almuñecar to be exact), for our lovely friend Ella’s birthday. I had bought some stuff in duty free on the way back and the plan was just to give you a nose on Snapchat. But something pretty shitty happened this week and my brain hasn’t really let me get back to normality…yet. It will though 🙂 So, I thought I would combine a few bits that I have bought in town, some Zara bits and the duty free products and show them in a haul.
Hauls are fun to film, and hopefully fun for you to watch aswell. This was a good compromise for me. It meant I could just sit in front of the camera and ramble about the goodies I have picked up, and it gives me blog content too. I actually ordered some of the Zara things while I was still in Spain, online. I thought they would be a nice little treat to come home too 🙂 Then, we had prolonged our holidays for a little bit longer by spending the day after we came back, in town, doing some shopping.
I only did a haul here before I went away. So if you want to see more shopping you can watch that too!
What I can link I will, in case anything takes your fancy:
Clinique Beyond Perfecting 2 in 1 Foundation. I wanted to get this in the airport but they were out of stock of my shade Alabaster. So I treated myself to it in store from Arnotts. They have it online here.
And yes I bought a third foundation for good measure. The new Rimmel Lasting Perfection Breathable foundation. I picked this in from Boots here. The brand was on buy one get one half off, so I got their Insta Fix & Matte Powder because my lovely friend Sue (itscherrysure) raves about it.
The rest of the things are from Penneys so I can’t link them, but they are in store now. To watch the video in full, click on it above or head to my YouTube channel directly here.
Thank you so much to everyone for your lovely messages on Snapchat and for taking the time out to talk to me. I really appreciate it.

We made it halfway through 2017! How did that even happen!! The start of a new month means I have to look back and catalogue some of my most used products. Yes, it’s time for my May favourites 🙂
I decided to rock a red lip for this video! Thought I was only brilliant, until I started to edit the footage and realised it was smudged for most of it! Epic, lipstick fail. Just pretend you can’t see it, OK?
My May Favourites don’t consist of many things, but I think the choices are mighty 🙂
We have the Penneys PS Pure Glow Highlighter Powder Palette. I have a full review of this here, so I won’t ramble on about it too much.
My Asos earrings that I forgot to put in the picture above so here’s a very candid back lit one of me wearing them!
And then the last of my May favourites came in the shape of some rose gold Nike Cortez and fish net ankle socks. Not for everyone, but I am digging the trend.
As always you can watch me waffle on more about my May favourites by just clicking the video at the top of this post, or directly on my YouTube channel here.
Happy June! Hope you have the loveliest month. I have lots to look forward to, so I’m very excited for the next few weeks 🙂
I have begun to do monthly favourites again on Beautynook a while ago now and am really enjoying it. It makes me extra conscious of products I continually pick up.
So, I thought I would start doing just general favourites too. Monthly ones can be for makeup, skincare and anything in between. These posts will be a little more theme driven. Hope that’s ok 🙂
So here’s five budget makeup products that have really been floating my beauty boat at the moment.
The Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer.
Excuse the appearance of mine, unfortunately the writing on the tube doesn’t withstand much…touching really :p
I used this years ago when it was all the rage and then just forgot to ever repurchase it, once I became a full on makeup fiend. Why, I don’t know, because it’s a bloomin’ good!
I have the shade ‘Fair 1’ which brightens up my pale complexion really well.
I do use this on it’s own and it works well. It has good coverage. But, most of the time I like to layer it over my Urban Decay Naked Concealer (I’ve a full review of this here). The Naked Concealer I have is too dark for me, so layering them on top of each other gives me hardcore under eye coverage and some brightness too. The consistency of the Lasting Perfection is really easy to blend so it’s works really well for layering. It’s a gem of a product. You can buy it from Boots here and it’ll set you back €5.79, not bad at all, right?
2. My second budget makeup favourite is what I use to apply the concealer with. It’s the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge. Again, mine has seen better days. But it means I do actually use it…alot!
I’ve had a Beauty Blender in my stash since we were first able to get our hands on them here in Ireland and I do really love it. In in my humble opinion though, the Miracle Complexion Sponge is just as good! It melts both cream and powder products into the skin so you’re never left with cake face. And as an oily skinned gal who loves her powders for longevity, this is awesome for me.
I also love that it has a flat end and a more pointed end because it caters to all contours of the face.
I’ve also jumped onto the ‘baking’ bangwagon of late, so this is perfect for applying powder under the eyes too. In fact, other than blush and of course whatever I apply on my eyes, I can pretty much do my whole face with this. My poor brushes don’t know what to do with themselves. I’ve just been having a real moment with my sponges 🙂 The Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge is €7.99 here from Boots. They also come in a double pack here too for €14.99.
3. This is another product I picked up first years ago, loved and then forgot about. This is the Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser Primer.
This is very much the stereotypical silicone primer so it’s definitely a love hate thing. For me and my skin it work really well.
I have large pores, so I need a primer that will glide over them and make them less visible. It has a matte finish too. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not a miracle worker or anything like that. But it does the job of holding onto my makeup for longer and gives a smoother base to work on top of. It’s something I’ve repurchased many times over the years and have never regretted it. It’s €11.49 again from Boots here.
4. Number 4 on my budget makeup list is the H&M ‘Sheer Tan’ Solar Flair Bronzing Powder.
When I was in Oslo at the start of the year, I picked up lots of products from the H&M beauty line. Some just didn’t cut the mustard for me at all. This bronzer however, has remained in my everyday makeup stash and I reach for it alot.
As the name would suggest it gives a sheer pop of colour.
It’s has kind of a satin finish to it, but no shimmer or shine. it is really finely milled, so blends really smoothly and naturally onto the skin. Their bronzers come in 6 shades so there’s one to suit all and they cost €7.99. We can actually shop online from H&M now so here’s a link if you fancy a nose too 🙂
5. My last favourite is a new one to me, and the first product I’ve ever used from the Freedom brand. This is their Duo Brow Powder’.
They look really similar to the Anastasia Brow Duos, right?
I bought this on a whim from the Superdrug website. I did a quick google for colour swatches and thank god for fellow bloggers out there because it worked out really well for me. This is in the shade ‘Soft Brown’.
I use the lighter shade to fill in my brows either on it’s own or over pencil, depending on the day. Then, the darker shade it great for adding dimension or filling in any gaps.
The powders aren’t super opaque in colour when you swatch them, which would have put me off buying one in store.
This is weirdly why I am enjoying them so much though. It actually means I don’t go over the top filling in my brows so they end up looking somewhat natural 🙂 You can buy them from Superdrug online here and they cost £3.
There you have it! Five Budget Makeup Favourites from me. These are products that I am using pretty much everyday right now and loving.
Let me know if you have any budget makeup favourites 🙂
So many of you told me you love watching Get Ready With Me style videos. I love watching them too (not my own though if I’m being honest ha) So here’s a Spring Makeup one, where I am basically applying a face of makeup that I would wear for a Spring day/early evening. Myself and himself were off for some Friday eats this day so I thought it would be a appropriate because I was actually doing my makeup to go somewhere, not just for the sake of filming 🙂
This is more of a talk through style video, which I still haven’t completely mastered, words still elude me 🙂 But I thought I would give it a whirl and sure don’t they say practice makes perfect, right?
I used a mixture of more affordable and more high end makeup which is a true representation of my normal makeup routine. I like to mix it up 🙂
So there you have it all the products I used in my Spring Makeup Get Ready With Me. I would love to know what you think and be sure to tell me your favourite types of beauty videos to watch.

Rimmel have made some of my very favourite affordable foundations. Their Lasting Finish Nude which I reviewed here not too long ago would probably make it into my top five favourite ever foundations, so yes I’m a big fan 🙂
So when they release a new on odds are I’ll pick it up and give it a go.
Rimmel Match Perfection is the newest kid on the foundation shelf.
I have the first Rimmel Match Perfection and to be honest I can’t really tell much difference between the two of them.
The older version has spf of 18, the newer one has spf of 20. They’re both medium coverage and give the skin a satin finish.
The newer Rimmel Match Perfection claims to blur pores, I don’t really see it doing that to my skin and I have pores a plenty. It also claims to cover dark circles too, can’t really say it does that either, you would definitely need a separate concealer, unless you have great skin of course.
However, I do think it’s a really nice foundation, just not if you particularly oily like myself.
It goes onto my skin nicely. I use a buffing brush to apply it. That tends to be my weapon of choice for foundation because I can use the dense brush to really buff the product in. This particular brush is from a set I bought off ebay for really cheap and I have to say I am really enjoying them. I have the shade 100 Ivory.
As I said it has a lovely satin finish, and it does claim to be a hydrating foundation, so I don’t expect it be as long lasting as a foundation made for oilier skin. I don’t always like a complete matte finish to my skin though so I do like to give some of the more hydrating foundations a try in hopes they don’t oxidise on me.
Here is my skin with nothing on it:
Here is a good layer of the Rimmel Match Perfection applied:
Then here’s my face with all my makeup finished and the foundation powdered into place. I really like the finish.
After about three hours of wear, this is what my skin looks like:
I’m a bit of a shiny mess! I don’t mind having to powder my nose after a few hours of wear, but with this I would have to powder my whole face after a couple of hours, not really practical.Ah well. I’m sure this will be a lovely foundation on you drier folk out there, but for me it’s not meant to be 🙁
You can pick up the Rimmel Match Perfection in Boots or any place that stocks Rimmel and it will set you back €9.99.
Have you tried it? Let me know how it fares on your skin 🙂
