I am due to get my brows micro bladed very soon. (Wish me luck 🙂 ). But before I do, I thought I could throw in another brow routine here on Beautynook. This time it’s all about budget brows and it’s all thanks to Catrice Cosmetics.
Catrice sent me out some new and some oldie brow products from their range last week. They have a bucket load of products to choose from now. From pencils, powders, pomades and everything in between. All of the products are under a fiver each too, which is awesome. My three budget brow choices from the range in my video demo are: The Slim’matic Ultra Precise Brow Pencil. I’m using the shade dark. The Eyebrow Set. This comes with two powders, with a tiny brush and tweezer tucked underneath. And to set everything in place I used the clear Lash/Brow Designer.
The three products together work out at around €11.50, so I thought it was worthy of the title budget brows. I particularly love the powder and the brow gel regardless of the price tag. The pencil is great, but it’s super duper soft, so uses up very quickly. In my humble opinion of course.
Here’s my brows before any product is applied.
Then, here is one completely done with all three budget brow products from Catrice applied. It’s really amazing what a brow can do.
I filmed a really short demo of them all in action which you can check out above and here. Let me know if you are liking the video demos along with the blogposts. I am enjoying putting them together 🙂
My brows are definitely only distant cousins, but here they are finished and ready to head out the door!
Catrice Cosmetics really do have so many great budget brow products to choose from, to suit any taste. These would just be the three I would gravitate towards on a daily basis. Have you tried anything from the range?
I didn’t do monthly favourites last month. I went on holidays. Have I mentioned that already? 🙂 And just didn’t get around to it. So I thought I would have a look at my stash and talk about five of my makeup favourites of the moment. You know I like to do these things in fives for some reason. I have no idea why.
Five makeup favourites that have been on my face consistently for the past few weeks. All of these were on holiday with me. Although I will say I did buy two of them while I was there. But once I did, I didn’t stop wearing them.
First up is something I haven’t really shut up about and have a collective post on the range here.
In particular, this eyeshadow called Zinc About You’, from the Essence Melted Chrome range has been making it onto my eyelids a lot.
It’s just a cool taupe pinky colour to wear on it’s own patted on the lid. You can check it out in that capacity here. See told you I haven’t shut up about it, I have a ridiculous amount of content on these. But it also works within a full on makeup look. I wore it out for dinner more dramatically with a smidgen of glitter added over top and got so many compliments. And it’s only €3.80. Bloody score!
Second of my current makeup favourites is something I got in a giant press pack from theBalm, seriously it was epic. This was one of the things that stayed in my possession from all the loot. It’s their Balm Beach Long Wearing Blush.
It’s just a really un offensive, goes with anything kind of blush.
It has a bit of pink to it and a hint of peach, so I just feel like it works well for warming up my skin tone. It’s a blush you can build up or just add a wash of colour to the cheeks with, which is what I personally like. Just a really good staple.
Third up is a product I’ve bought time and time again through the years. I have a review of it here that I did years ago. Sorry about the brows 🙂
They’ve changed the name since then and it’s now called the Catrice Glam & Doll. I generally always use a waterproof mascara, just because they hold a curl better.
I just bloody love this mascara. It lengthens my lashes, gives them volume and keeps the curl after I use an eyelash curlers. I bought a fresh tube to bring on holidays with me just because I know it works for me, and I am so glad to be using it again. It’s also less then a fiver and so readily available too.
My last two makeup favourites of the moment are holiday purchases from Kiko.
One was something specific that I went in for, although they didn’t have the exact colour. My lovely OG blogger friend Dee said to me the last time I went to Kiko to get their Water Eyeshadow in 200. Not only is it a lovely eyeshadow, it makes such a gorgeous highlight. I forgot that time, so I was made sure not to this time round.
They didn’t have the shade unfortunately, but I did find a great alternative in 208 Light Gold.
These are specifically formulated to work wet or dry. I think as a shadow it’s better to wet your brush, as a highlighter it works perfectly as is. It’s a lovely light gold shade. And I think €8.95 for a dual use product is pretty decent.
My other makeup favourite from Kiko was a last minute decision. And a bit random, but it totes worked out 🙂
It was €3.95, it’s pink, it’s sparkly and I bloody love it. I’ve never owned a gloss in pencil form. It’s not the easiest thing to sharpen because the product is quite soft, that’s definitely a downer. But, I love the colour, love the sparkle and love that you can draw your lip line and fill in with your lipgloss. It’s kind of ingenious, right?
And for now, I’ll stop rambling because this post is 700 words long 🙂

There is five shades of these Catrice Lip Foundation Lip Liners. I managed to find four of them to try. I initially bought two while we were staycation-ing in Kilkenny. Enjoyed the concept, so wanted to grab more shades when I was back in Dublin to do a post on them.
I believe these were part of their Spring/ Summer collection from last year, I hadn’t seen them until now though. I ran out my brow pencil while we were away and needed to pick up. So I just went to the local chemist and they happened to have a Catrice stand. I got one of their micro brow pencils, and then kept perusing. That’s when I came across these little beauties.
The concept of the Catrice Lip Foundation lip liners is that they’re a base colour for your lips. So you can use them to prime for lipstick, contour, or as an all over colour.
I really just like them because of the shades available and the fact that their super creamy and pigmented.
They’re my kinda nude lip colours and within the four that I have, I think there’s a matte nude shade for pretty much for everyone. That alone, made me think they deserved their own blogpost 🙂
As always, I’ll give them an oul swatch and you can make up your mind.
First up is ‘Addicted To Cafè Au Lait’ a lighter pinky nude:
‘Caramel Blonde To Go’ is light pink shade:
‘I Take You To The Chocolate Shop’ is a medium brown nude.
And the final one I have is ‘Cool Brown’, which I think ironically is a warmer toned brown 🙂 :
The shade I am missing just because the chemists I went to didn’t have it is ‘Can’t You Hear That Super Base’. This one seems to be the lightest shade in the collection.
And that’s it! Just to mention, they are super soft pencils, which is great. But it does mean you’ll get through them pretty fast. Thought that was something to note.
The Catrice Lip Foundation lip pencils are available in all good stockists now in store and online. Inish Pharmacy have all five shades online here. And they only cost €2.80 a piece which I think is really decent.
It’s about that time again dudes. Another month, another faves video. This time I’m looking back over my May Favourites for 2018.
May has been a trying month for me personally I won’t lie, but shite talking about makeup and beauty products definitely helps with all the personal stuff 🙂
My May favourites for 2018 and beauty heavy, there’s no fashion or random loves in sight. Also the lip I am wearing is one of the new L’Oréal Color Riche Shine lipsticks in 466. I am loving the formula of these.
My messed up hair is something I can’t even apologise for. It was a good idea at the time. I swear one of these days I’ll take a course on styling hair or something. I am absolutely brutal at it 🙂
As always I’ll list my May favourites here, but if you want to hear my musings on them click on the video above or here to check them out.
Vichy Mineral 89 Serum . I definitely use more than necessary of this stuff as a day time moisturiser. But it’s great if you don’t like a heavy cream in the day or for night time. I use it in conjunction with a serum and it doesn’t interfere with my makeup.
I am sure you’ve seen buckets of social media pics of the new theBalm Cosmetics releases, so forgive me if this is repetitive.
I received them all in a press pack though and was very eager to swatch. So, why not do it in blogpost form, right?
I am a huge fan of theBalm Cosmetics. They do some great products. I actually did a post a while here back creating a whole face of makeup using just them, if you fancy checking it out.
The newest products on the block from the brand consist of:
A new eyeshadow palette called Meet Matt(e) Shmaker.
This actually has an intriguing concept. Every matte shade has a shimmery mate for company.
You get 12 shades, 6 matte, six shimmer. Here they are swatched from left to right.
First the top shades, which are lighter, more everyday colours.
Then, the bottom. These are little bit darker and daring.
Of course these are just swatched on my arm, so of course I can’t give a proper review, but they evenly and opaquely. Cloud10Beauty stock it online here.
Next up we have the Mr Write Long Lasting Eyeliner Pencils. (They have previously released Mr Write Now). There are six shades to choose from in the collection.
I have five of them to swatch here. They are retractable kohl pencils. The sixth is a green shade called Seymour Vacations. There’s a Seymour theme throughout 🙂
I have:
Seymour Datenights which is a nude. Seymour Romance which is described as a prune shade. Purple to you and I. Seymour Compliments is a navy blue. Seymour Loveletters is medium brown. Then finally Seymour Diamonds is a matte black.
I’ve only really tried the brown shade properly so far. It smoothly lined my upper lash line and it worked well and lasted decently in my water line too.
As of yet, I cannot find a stockist of these online.
The last releases are probably everyone’s most anticipated!
These are liquid versions of theBalm Cosmetics infamous Mary-Lou and Bonnie-Lou powder highlighters. Say hello to Mary-Dew Manizer and Bonnie-Dew Manizer. See what they did there? 🙂
They come in 5.5 gram tubes with a doe foot applicator.
No I definitely do not have money in January to be throwing around in Brown Thomas!
Every Christmas my brother gives me a voucher for BT and I am never mad at it. It means I can still makeup shop whilst poor after the festive period 🙂
I went into Brown Thomas initially to spend it. I’m not too far from Grafton Street. If you follow me on Snapchat (username: Beautynook), you would have seen the scenario. Initially, I was going to blow all €75 on Huda Beauty.
The Mauve Obsessions palette is already in my possession. (Blogpost on it here). I knew they were out of the Warms Palette, but had the Smoky from checking online. The plan was to take the plunge on that and maybe get some other bits to try from the brand.
I found out on that day, that just because something is in stock on the Brown Thomas website does not mean they have it in store. They have separate warehouses apparently. So, I walked away with nothing and had to do my shopping online. A bit frustrating, but sure I’m a little more calmer shopping online, less distraction and I’m less likely to overspend 🙂
I decided to do click and collect in store just because they will charge you a delivery rate regardless of your spend. But, it’s free to get it delivered in to your local branch.
I know there’s mixed feelings about these little palettes. The Mauves Obsessions is in major rotation in my makeup routine, so I wanted to extend my collection and try another shade range.
Everything else I picked up is from Zoeva. Yes, Brown Thomas stock it now! You can get it in store now too in their Beauty Lounge which is adjacent to the main store on Clarendon street.
I decided to get another eyeshadow palette to try. Zoeva are such a lovely brand in my opinion. I got their Plaisir Box (review here), a couple of years back for Christmas and the palettes are beautiful.
This time I went with the Aristo Palette. For not particular reason really. It’s new and it had a couple of more interesting shades along with more wearable colours. I just thought it would be fun to play with.
I needed a new micro brow pencil and thought this would be a good one to try.
Another more practical purchase was their Eyeshadow Fix.
I got the matte one to give a go. It comes in pearl too. Eyeshadows mean nothing to me without a decent primer. I have super oily lids.
The last thing I got was a bit of a random buy. This is the Zoeva Strobe Gel in Halo. It comes in three shades.
Curiosity made me click on this. It’s a gel highlighter. It is literally a goo highlighter, I can’t wait to dig in!
The packaging is really nice. It comes in a 15ml glass pot. Hopefully the gel itself is nice too!
And that’s it for my Brown Thomas haul! Keep an eye out here on Beautynook if you’re curious about any of the products. I am sure there’ll be reviews and demos galore in the coming weeks 🙂
