This is not a dig at any of the brands that created these eyeshadow palettes. In fact I don’t really think overall, it’s really a dig at the eyeshadow palettes themselves. It’s just me explaining why I don’t reach for them, and why they don’t seem to work for me.

Eyeshadow Palettes I don't reach for

I might get a bitchy in between, but that tends to happen when you’re on a roll, right? πŸ™‚ I have a bucket load of eyeshadow palettes. Makeup is my favourite pass time. There’s always going to be times I spend my money, or get something in a pr package that just doesn’t float my boat though.

There’s times also where you think you’re going to love a product, and then it just doesn’t get utilised. And that’s fine, it’s the look of the draw. Beauty products are being released constantly, it’s so easy to get caught up in the new shiny things on offer.

eyeshadow palettes I don't reach for

I’ve mentioned, I think all of these eyeshadow palettes in one form or another here on Beautynook or on my Instagram page. Some of them I loved initially, some I wanted because of the hype and some were bought on a whim. There is no reason to my thought process. And by the end of the video, I talked myself into trying to use at least one of them again, just because I don’t think it got a fair trial.

There is five palettes in total:

All the brands listed I enjoy and use a lot! I don’t think you can love everything a brand brings out. As I say in the video too though this is just my opinions and thoughts. We are all different. When it comes to reading reviews on products, never just read one. It’s always good to get different views and thought processes. Do you have and love any of these? Let me know.

I went to the launch of the new Inglot Signature Collection Palettes with my lovely friend Ella (aka Siopaella) last week. I am a big Inglot eyeshadow fan. Sure didn’t I only do a haul here not too long ago adding some to my collection πŸ™‚

Inglot Signature Collection Palettes

There are four colour ways within the Inglot Signature Collection Palettes to choose from.

Inglot Signature Collection Palettes

We have Candy, Coco, Berry and then the one I chose out of the four to take home with me, Honey.

Some of the shades within the Inglot Signature Collection Palettes are new, and some are preexisting in the Freedom System line up. I asked on Instagram if you wanted to see swatches of the Honey palette and a few of you said you did, so I thought I would cobble together a quick post with everything linked and handy for reference πŸ™‚

Honey is a selection of complimenting warm tones ranging from warm brown to a light vanilla shade. Two of the colours in the palette are brand new (291 and 287), and two were already available. They all work really well together.

Here they are swatched on my arm from left to right, with and without the flash on: 291, 300, 287, 305.

All the shades are matte and as you would expect from Inglot, super easy to work with.

Freedom System eyeshadows sold on their own are €6 each. These quads are €32, with obviously the four shades and then the magnetic palette aswell. This works out the same if you were to buy the palette and any four eyeshadows, so you’re not paying any more or less. You can buy all four of the Inglot Signature Collection Palettes in store and online now from Inglot Cosmetics. Here is the link for the Honey one just in case it takes your fancy or you want to learn any more about it. I might pop up an Instagram video in the next couple of days showing the colours in action too, so be sure to keep an eye out for that.

The Bourjois Palette Le Smoky and Les Nudes are the newest eyeshadow palette from French brand Bourjois.

Bourjois Palette Les Nudes

Both of the palettes come in cool plastic packaging with a magnetic lid.

Bourjois Palette Le Smoky

It is similar to the packaging on their Dèlice de Soleil Bronzer.

Bourjois Ireland

The lid contains a really good sized mirror which you can twist around 360 degrees.

irish beauty bloggerbeauty blog ireland

They also come with a dual sponged tipped applicator. This doesn’t really float my boat if I’m honest though.

As you can of course tell from the names, one of the palettes is meant to be more suited to smoky eye looks. The other more suited to more neutral eye looks. Smoky I can get on board with, the Nudes, not so much. But, let me show you both in action πŸ™‚

First up we have the Bourjois Palette Le Smoky:

top irish beauty blog

It contains eight shades ranging from an ice white, silver, grey, blue, purple to black.

Then, we have the Bourjois Palette Les Nudes.

top irish beauty blogger

Again there are eight shades in this palette, ranging from white, silver, purple, gold and brown. To me, this palette isn’t really representative of nude/neutral eyeshadow shades at all. The last four shades, maybe, but the first four shades are icy cool toned colours that I don’t really associate with the term nude (in eyeshadow talk anyways πŸ™‚ ).

top beauty blogbeauty youtube ireland

Both of these palettes are full of shimmer and glitter. If you don’t like shimmer, you wont like them whatsoever! They both have one matte shade that is the darkest colour in both of the palettes. After giving both of them a whirl, I will say the shadows are ok. They feel soft to the touch and they definitely apply more opaque with your fingers. But, you can get pay off (not as much though) with a brush. I used a mixture of both of them here:

They aren’t the easiest to work with and there is fallout and it’s sparkly, so be prepared to have to clean that up. Also, the colour arrangements are a bit odd, I think. And there is a lack of transition colours, so you will probably have to incorporate some other shadows in if you creating more of a look with them. They do last well on the eyelids, well at least they did on mine with a primer underneath.

The Bourjois Palette Le Smoky and Les Nudes are available in Boots stores or online here now. They retail for €15.99 a piece. But, Bourjois have a 2 for €15 deal on at the minute. So if you like what you see you better work fast πŸ™‚ I think that price point is much more suited to them personally.

I am on a bit of a budget roll at the minute, I don’t know what has gotten into me…maybe the post Christmas poorness πŸ™‚ This post is going to be about budget contour palettes, that I have and use in my makeup collection. Contouring has come such a long way in the makeup world, it used to be a drag industry secret and now most of us do some form of it on a daily basis. I know it’s not for everyone, but personally I love a bit of chiselling, anything to make my chubby chops look more defined πŸ™‚

I chose 3 contour palettes to showcase in this post:

budget contour palettes

First up is the newest of the bunch, the Catrice Prime And Fine Professional Contouring palette.

catrice prime and fine contour paletteThis comes in different shades which is very handy, I have the colour 010 Ashy Radiance.

irish beauty bloggerbeauty blog irelandAshy is the important word here, especially for paler skin. A powder with a grey undertone, creates more of a shadow so in theory looks more natural. I really like this palette. The highlighter is more on the subtle side, so good if you just want to add a hint of a glow to the cheekbones. The contour side is soft, pigmented and blends well in the skin.

irish makeup and beauty bloggerThis will set you back €4.50.

Next up is the Seventeen Define & Conquer Contour Kit

seventeen define & conquerThis is a little different as both of the shades in this contour palette are matte.

makeup blog irelandI like this take on it because the ‘highlight’ shade can double up as a setting powder for lighter skinned gals and then works as a subtle more brightening shade maybe under the eyes for darker skinned lovelies.

The contour shade is a little more on the warm side, so this would double up as an all over matte bronzer shade as well as getting away with being a contouring colour.

makeup and beauty blog irelandYou can buy the Seventeen Define & Conquer palette in Boots and it costs €8.49, but they are always on special.

My last choice I think is my favourite and is the most pocket friendly of them all. The W7 Hollywood Bronze & Glow.

w7 hollywood bronze & glowIt bares a bit of a resemblance to a much more expensive contour palette, right? πŸ™‚

top irish beauty blogThis little duo resides in my handbag and it gets so much use. The contour shade does have a sheen and a warm undertone to it, but it’s soft and blends out really well on the skin so you can still get away with it for contouring. I adore the highlight shade. It’s a really pretty golden shimmer, not at all bitty or glittery. I use it on my cheekbones, on my lids even and it’s a lovely inner corner highlight too.

top irish beauty bloggerAnd the best part? It’s €3.75. Cara Pharmacy sell them online here

Three contour palettes for three decent prices. What do you think? Are you a contouring queen or not really into it? I’d love to know your thoughts.

I think neutral eyeshadows rock everyone’s boat. Whether you’re a hardcore makeup lover or someone who just likes to do the bare minimum, we all have at least one (if not more) neutral palette in our makeup stash. Here are 5 eyeshadow palettes picked ripe from my stash. All neutral, all packing a punch and all really affordable.

Budget beauty brands have really stepped up their eyeshadow palettes game of late and thankfully so many of them are doing a good job of it. If you don’t have the money or frankly just don’t want to fork out the money on Mac and the likes, you don’t have to. And you don’t have to feel like you’re missing out on anything either.

First up in one of my very favourites the Sleek Au Natural Palette. This palette will get you through any nude emergency matte or shimmery πŸ™‚ I actually did a look with this not too long ago here, if you fancy seeing it in action on the eyes. Sleek iDivine palettes will set you back 10-11 euro depending on where you buy.

Sleek Au Natural Paletteirishbeautyblogirish makeup and beauty blogirish makeup and beauty bloggerNext up is the Collection Eyes Uncovered Nude Palette. This is a great little find. The packaging is cardboard but surprisingly sturdy. It contains 6 neutral shades going from a light shimmery vanilla shade to a dark charcoal brown. It will set you back €5.49.

makeup blog irelandbeauty blog irelandbeauty blogger irelandBudget Eyeshadow Palettes (13)My third neutral eyeshadow palette pick is an oldie but a goodie. The Wet n Wild trio in ‘Walking On Eggshells’. This is a bit of a cult buy. It contains 3 perfect neutral shadow shades. It will cost you €4.49.

top irish beauty bloggertop irish makeup and beauty blogirish makeup and beauty blogtop irish makeup and beauty bloggerThe last one I think is the most budget friendly of them all considering how many shadows you get for €4.99. My last nude choice from my stash is the Essence All About Nudes Eyeshadow Palette.I think the name of the palette really speaks for itself, right? πŸ™‚

essence makeup irelandessence all about nudes paletteirish beauty bloggerirish blogirish bloggerThere you have it. Five budget friendly, but also practical and decent neutral eyeshadow palettes. These are all in my makeup stash and all of them get used day to day.
