As a bit of a makeup fiend, I know I can get a bit over zealous with the eyeshadow application. I buy ALOT of makeup and am lucky to receive PR samples doing what I’m doing. I’ve gained quite the collection over the years, so have a lot to choose from. I thought I would bring it back to basics a little for this post and show how you can achieve a really wearable, pretty (in my humble opinion) look, using just one eyeshadow. This is my really simple one eyeshadow makeup look.

one eyeshadow makeup tutorial

Initially I was going to go for a matte brown eyeshadow, as it would be super wearable. But every time I rock a purple eye, I always get questions about what I used. I found this Nars Dual Intensity eyeshadow in Phoebe, not going to lie, at the back of one of my drawers. It’s a really nice flattering shade of purple, so I made this my weapon of choice for my one eyeshadow makeup look.

This video is more about placement and blending though rather than the eyeshadow itself. The techniques will generally work for most shadows. Darker ones might take a little more work blending though just to note. But, for any light or medium shadow, two brushes and a warmed up blending hand should work a treat 🙂

So click on the video for my tips and tricks for using one eyeshadow to create a whole eye look. I did use lashings of mascara (Catrice Lashes To Kill Pro and Mac Extended Play). As well as a flesh coloured eyeliner in the waterline too, just to pull everything together. The star of the show is definitely the shadow though and it’s super easy to achieve, I promise.

If you want to see the lip colour I went with to complete this look, it’s in my last post on how to get fuller lips here. Let me know what you think and as always thanks for clicking.

I saw the Clarins 4 Colour All In One Pen online last year and I have been so excited for it to launch. Not going to lie, I was kind of stalking it online.

Clarins 4 Colour All In One Pen

It is such a nifty idea. I attended the launch of the Clarins Spring/Summer collection a couple of weeks back. They have some gorgeous releases that are hitting shops at the moment.

And, I was super lucky to leave with a gorgeous goodie bag including the Clarins 4 Colour All In One Pen.

It looks exactly like the Bic pens we all had at school with the multiple colours. It comes with four shades, 3 eye liners and one nude lip liner. You click down the shade you want to use on the top and then twist the pen in the middle to release the product.

Within the stylo, you get a matte black:

A matte brown shade:

A matte blue eye liner:

And then finally a tan nude lip liner shade:

For me, the lip liner is a lovely creamy consistency, but the colour doesn’t really suit my complexion. It’s a bit too warm. The three eye liners overall are easy to use, soft and opaque. I probably have the hardest time building up the blue shade consistency wise, but you do get there with it. The colours are all really wearable.

They are not waterproof, but do last really well on the upper lash line. I’ve worn all three eye liners and none of them transferred or moved on me.

I think the Clarins 4 Colour All One Pen really is a novel idea, and I think the products inside are fairly decent too. You definitely have to get used to the width of the pen and the pencils themselves. I don’t think they would work great for detailed work. But to have all of the colours in one place and literally a click a way is genius! It will make a great travel companion 🙂

It is limited edition and only available in select countries. So, if you like what you see, try get your hands on it asap. I’ve seen it in a few local chemists myself already. I have found a link to in online from Arnotts here. It is retailing in Ireland for €36.

Are you intrigued by it?

***SAMPLE***

I go through lip colour stages where I gravitate towards a more brown nude or a more pinky nude on the daily. Obviously, there will be a smattering of other colours thrown in on special occasions. On an everyday basis though, I will be rocking a more ‘everyday appropriate’ colour. Generally, I tend to go for a matte finish too. It lasts longer and they are less messy. If my lips are feeling a little drier on a particular day, I’ll pop a bit of lip balm over top. My go to pink toned nude combo, are both from Rimmel.

Rimmel Nude Lip

I am a big big fan of Rimmel lip products. You’ll see me talk about them alot here and on social media. I particularly always repurchase their retractable Exaggerate lip liners when I run out. And they do run out quite quickly, the formula is very soft. It means they apply really easily, but they wear down fast as a result.

Rimmel Pink Lip

My go to everyday pink nude combination consists of the infamous Rimmel ‘Eastend Snob’ lip liner.

Rimmel Eastend Snob

Yes, I harp on about this all of the time. I even did a post on it here comparing it to Charlotte Tilbury ‘Pillow Talk’. I own both and reach for this more. It’s great for just waking up the lips and giving some natural-ish colour. It works really well for over lining without looking too obvious aswell. I love it worn just on it’s own.

When I want it to last longer and make it more opaque and lipstick like (if that makes sense, ha?). I apply the Rimmel The Only 1 Matte Lipstick in 200 ‘Salute’ on top.

Rimmel The only 1 matte lipstick

This is a really similar colour, with more pink to it. Eastend Snob is a little more mauve in tone.

I have a post on The Only 1 Matte Lipsticks here, this will give you a more in depth review. I love the formula. It’s a more creamy matte. The smell of these is intense though. It is super floral and sweet. Definitely not my favourite scent ever, but I look past it because I love the finish.

Rimmel Eastend Snob is available in store or online from Boots here. Exaggerate lipliners retail for €5.59. Salute is available from Boots in store or online here. The Only 1 Matte Lipsticks retail for €8.99

These two together just rock my pinky nude lip world. And let me even out my uneven lip line without looking too obvious or over the top. I hope 🙂

Have you a favourite go to everyday lipstick?

The Blank Canvas Master Series Palette One was not on my radar really, I must admit. I just never really felt the need to buy it.

Blank Canvas Master Series Palette One

Now don’t get me wrong, I have lots of Blank Canvas brushes in my collection so it’s nothing about the brand, the need just never really hit me. I have seen so many people talking about how lovely it is since it’s release though and when I saw they were having a sale, I bit the bullet and took one for the blog 🙂

So, just to change things up format style, I thought I would give you my first impressions on the Blank Canvas Master Series Palette One. You still get to see swatches in this post, but I also have an accompanying video showing you the palette in action here.

It comes with 12 eyeshadow shades. One shimmer and the rest are matte. I would describe the shadows  overall as a warm. You also get a really nice dual ended brush with it. It has the E40, a flat brush and the E41 a soft domed blending brush. Both are really soft and are the only brushes I use in the video (other than an eyeliner brush).

You can of course see how they apply on the eyelids in the video, but I did do swatches as well so you can see them up close:

I have a few stills of them in action on the lids aswell:

I am overall super impressed with the Blank Canvas Master Series Palette One. The shades are soft blendable and easy to work with. I got it on sale unfortunately, but Blank Canvas have discount codes up all the time if you like what you see. You can get it directly from their website here for €34.99. May I add their shipping is really good too. My order came within two days which is very impressive!

What do you think? Do you already own it?

It’s Christmas, time to pull out the glitter and throw all the makeup on your face 🙂 Here is my version of a party makeup look using all affordable products. Even most of the tools are affordable too.

Irish beauty blogger beautynook

I went simple with a gold and brown eye with some gold glitter and lashes. I wanted to create a party makeup that I would actually wear myself. As I say in the video though, 2017 will hopefully be the year, I get out of my comfort zone a bit video wise and be a little braver with my makeup.

I mention all the products I use in the video as I go along, but to recap:

I am a big fan of the original The Only 1 lippies. They have a creamy but pigmented formula with a shiny finish. I have a full review of them here. Now, we have have a newer verion in the form of the Rimmel The Only 1 Matte Lipstick!

Rimmel the only 1 matte lipstick

These come in a red matte bullet in the same shape as the original with the colour of the lipstick in a band at the base.

beauty blogger ireland

The Rimmel The Only 1 Matte Lipstick has a similar distinct fragrance to its predecessor. Be aware, it is potent!

rimmel the only 1 matte lipstick

The bullet is diagonally shaped, which I really like. Here in Ireland we can get our mitts on 9 shades of these lippies. The colour choices are nothing new. They range from nude, pink, red to deeper reds. Of course, as you can guess from the name, these lipsticks are of the matte variety. I have a few to show you in action here so you can see them up close and applied to the lips.

I am a big fan of the formula of these. Just like the original, they are pigmented, creamy and easy to apply.

rimmel the only 1 matte lipstick swatches

Even though they have a matte finish, they don’t feel drying or pull on the lips. Because they are more creamy though, they will move around when you eat or drink. But, you are left behind with a stain. If you aren’t a fan of the liquid lipstick trend because of the dryness but still want a matte finish to the lips. These could be of interest to you 🙂

The Rimmel The Only 1 Matte Lipstick (s) retail for €8.99. You can get them instore or online from Boots here. Boots are running an offer at the moment with Rimmel. The products are two for €12 across the range!
