Fenty Pro Filt'r Instant Retouch PrimerI have been using the Fenty Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Primer since just after Christmas on and off. It’s definitely been a hot minute. I’ve put off writing about it for ages, just because it took me this long to formulate a logical opinion on it.

I bought this along with the Bomb Baby Mini Lip And Face Set. I really like the gloss, I can understand the hype. Although I will say loads of brands have jumped on the pretty sparkly non sticky gloss band wagon now. So there’s many a lovely gloss out there to choose from now.Fenty Pro Filt'r Instant Retouch Primer

The Fenty Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Primer is said to be ‘A shine-stopping, pore-diffusing primer that smooths the way for better foundation application and longer wear with an instant retouch effect’. This description is basically what confuses me. Hear me out 🙂

This is obviously a description that would hook me with my skin being on the oiler side and having pores like craters in my t zone. I’ll start with the pros of this primer. The packaging is so lovely and the matte glass bottle feels so fancy in your hands. The pump is really easy to control. It has a really delicate , sweet scent. The formula is really light, blends really nicely and applies nearly like an extra layer of skincare. It dries down and leaves your skin feeling really soft.fenty beauty ireland

Ok, this is where I get confused. For me, it doesn’t really control oil. I generally use it in conjunction with another more hardy primer like Benefit Porefessional. I apply the the Fenty Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Primer all over and the other primer in my t zone where I know it just won’t cut the mustard. Just because I like how it feels and, well I have it and spent a decent amount of money on it. It also doesn’t do anything for my enlarged pores either, so that were Porefessional comes too.

If they had of marketed this primer towards drier skin types, I could completely concur with the consistency and how it feels. But saying it’s a pore diffusing, shine stopping primer doesn’t really make any sense to me.

Overall, I think it’s nice and it doesn’t put me off the brand at all, this was just a kind of a miss because it doesn’t do what it says on the tin.

The Fenty Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Primer is available from Harvey Nichols in store and online here now.

Have you tried anything from the Fenty range yet? I’d love to know your thoughts.

Fenty makeup irelandYou might have saw me chatting about John very kindly going into the Fenty Beauty counter for me here?

fenty beauty ireland For Christmas, he popped in and picked me up the Killawatt Free Style Highlight Duo in ‘LGHTNG DST FIRE CRYS’.Fenty beauty

And the limited edition Starlit Hyper-Glitz Lipstick in ‘Sci-Fly‘.

All by himself may I add. Major brownie points. But like the beauty brat I am, I decided to pop into the Fenty Beauty counter myself and amend the gift so slightly. Don’t judge me, I was thinking with my blogger hat on. I wanted stuff I would enjoy, but also that you guys might want to hear about. The highlight duos are gorge, but there’s loads of reviews on them now. The lipstick was lovely too, but it was probably a bit too daring for me on a daily basis 🙂

May I say the girls on the Harvey Nichols Fenty Beauty counter here in Dublin are all really lovely. So helpful and so willing to chat. When I went in initially to exchange, they were awaiting a new delivery of stock. I wanted the coveted Gloss Bomb, and there was none in store. So, they gave me a voucher to come back in, or use it over the phone. Unfortunately, you cannot use gift vouchers on the Harvey Nicks website as of yet.beauty blog ireland

I scrolled through the HN website and realised they had just gotten the Bomb Baby Mini Lip And Face Set! I thought these were a Sephora exclusive. Turns out, nope! I annoyed the girls on the counter one more time, and told them to ring me when they got a shipment in. They did, and know you’re up to date 🙂top irish beauty blogbeauty blogger ireland

So what is the Fenty Beauty Bomb Baby Mini Lip And Face Set? A mouthful first and foremost I know.top irish beauty blogger

It is also a set that contains a mini Gloss Bomb Universal (5.5g).top beauty blog irelandtop beauty blog ireland

This is the only gloss within the Fenty Beauty range. It’s an apricot shade with a multi coloured shimmer running through it. It has a light sweet fragrance to it. It’s not sticky on the lips and feels really nice and comfortable. Apologises for the remnants of a cold sore on my lip 🙁

This is a peachy golden highlight with a multi coloured shimmer running through it. The formula is soft and buttery and it applies really intensely.

For me, this was killing two birds with one stone. It meant I could try the infamous gloss AND a highlighter from the range for the same price as a lipstick! I’m not generally a big lip gloss kinda gal. But, so many people love it, so I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. First impressions, they’re both lovely!fenty beautyYou can buy the Fenty Beauty Bomb Baby set from Harvey Nichols in store or online here now for €20. I thought it would be helpful to note, you can order online for collection in store, or if you live within a ten mile radius of Dundrum, they can courier your order out too!

I am not a blush monogamist by any stretch of the imagination. I flutter from one to the other depending on my mood and of course what colour or finish I want on that day. Lately I’ve noticed my hand has been reaching for the same 5 blushes in my makeup drawer though. 5 is still probably alot in a normal case scenario I know, but for a makeup fiend this is a pretty respectable number 🙂 So I thought I would share them with you today as they are actually quite varied (as blushers go anyway).

First up is one of the first Mac products I ever had in my collection. Don’t worry I’ve gone throught a few of them since then, but you can still see this is well loved.

Mac Pink Swoon

This is Mac’s Sheertone blush in ‘Pink Swoon’. At one point this was the only blush I had in my possession.

irish beauty blogPink Swoon Swatch

I like the Sheertone blushes because you can build them up to your own preference. I think Pink Swoon is the perfect matte pink cheek tone. It suits my skin tone well and I can wear it day or night. Pink Swoon is available for €24 from Brown Thomas here.

My second choice is another Mac Sheertone blush, but in the shimmer formula.

Mac Springsheen blush

This is ‘Springsheen’ which I think is a bit of a Mac cult classic. You can buy this from Brown Thomas for €24 here.

It’s light peachy shade with a gold sparkle running through it. Probably more suited to the warmer months, but I love Springhsheen if you gone to town on your eye makeup or your lippie and just want a subtle pop of colour to your cheeks. It’s a good staple to have in your collection.

The third choice I have been grabbing for of late is a blush I actually spoke about in My Everyday Makeup Routine here.

catrice blush kiss me ken

This is the Catrice Illuminating Blush in 030 ‘Kiss Me Ken’.

beauty blogkiss me ken swatch

This is a more mauvey toned blush I think, with just a little sparkle running through it.

I tend to grab for this when I’m going for a mauve toned lip, which I have been loving at the minute. I think the similar tone of colour on the cheeks and lips go well together.3

Number 4 is the priciest of the bunch. It’s £32 from Spacenk here.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush Diffused Heat

This is the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in ‘Diffused Heat’.

irish beauty blog beautynookDiffused Heat Swatch

It looks pretty scary in the pan, right? But as you can see when it swatched on my arm, it’s a lovely peachy pink shade. You have a swirl of intense colour, but then you are kind of diluting it by mixing it with the lighting powder running through it. This is such a pretty shade and the formulation of these blushes are really lovely and so blendable too. I use this blush alot when I’m going for more of a fresh face approach to my makeup, if that makes sense? :p

I left this blush until last, because it’s really the one I reach for the most.

Max Factor Seductive Pink

This is the Max Factor Creme Puff Blush in 15 ‘Seductive Pink’.

beauty blog beautynookSeductive Pink Swatch

The beauty community went nuts when Max Factor first released these blushes, as they are such a lovely and affordable alternative to the Hourglass offerings that I talked about a minute ago. I think Seductive Pink is a blush everyone should have in their collection if I’m being honest. It’s just a great all rounder, and ticks all the boxes for me. It’s pink, but has a rosey tone to it aswell, it’s not completely matte, but it doesn’t interfere with your makeup at all, it will work on so many skin tones, it works with all types of makeup looks and the formula of Creme Puff blushes is so lovely as well. They’re soft, pigmented and easy to blend. Can you tell I love it? 🙂 You can pick it up from Boots here

Do you have a favourite blush or blushes that you reach for constantly? Do you even rate blush?

Let me know 🙂
