I was in Boots last week swatching lip products like a good thing and I ended up getting a couple of the new Barry M Matte Me Up Lip Crayons. These are (as I am sure you can see) twist up lip colours…and they are matte!
On first swatch in store, I thought oh these are really soft and pigmented and also not really drying and I can concur after playing with them and wearing them that they are like this in ‘real life’ too.
I chose two shades.
The first one is number 4, original I know π
This is literally my favourite shade of pink to wear. Think of Mac’s Girl About Town but a little more muted and matte.
I know I know my skin is different colours, I fake tanned my body not my face ha I probably should have slapped some makeup on to swatch…sure not to worry, you get the idea :p
This out of the two colours of the Barry M Matte Me Up’s I got is my favourite. It is a gorgeous blue toned pink. It goes on the lips really smoothly and lasts really well too.
The second shade I got is…number 1
This is a true peach shade.
This is a more unforgiving shade on the lips, they need to be in tip top condition to pull it off. I also think it would be more suited to someone with sallow skin, it is still a gorgeous shade though.
The Barry M Matte Me Up Lip Crayons are gorgeous in my book. They are easy to apply, really buttery, comfortable on the lips and last very well too. I’m very happy I bought them and will be open to buying more the future I’m sure π

My name is Gemma and I have sinned…nah not really. I just did my first ever Makeup Revolution shop and wanted to document it before I make the palette all yucky and unphotographable…yep thats a word π
The Superdrug in The Square Shopping Centre finally got a Makeup Revolution stand. I only went in for a browse and was very pleased to see it in all it’s shiny clean glory. The makeup in Superdrug was also on 3 for 2 across everything so that lured me in even more. I bought 3 Makeup Revolution Palettes and it set me back just under β¬21 which I thought was pretty good. And you get a cute little makeup bag free!
This the Ultra Eyeshadows Palette.
This is β¬10.35 for 32 shadows. They are a mixture of shimmers and a mixture of brights and more neutral colours. If these are decent quality I will get alot of use out of this palette.
Next is the Radiance Lights Highlighter Palette.
This again is β¬10.35 and you get 3 highlighting powders. On first look these look so pretty. People on social media have been going wild for these too so I’m hoping they live up to the hype and will definitely report back.
The last palette I picked up was the Ultra Cover and Conceal Palette.
I technically got this for free, but it’s priced at β¬7.75. They only had two shades in this palette Light or Light-Medium. I would have preferred to get a Medium-Dark one as I think this could be a good product for contouring, but since it was free I thought I would give it a go anyway and see how I fare, I am a paley after all π
So there you have it, my first ever Makeup Revolution buys and you were here to witness it first hand! This brand do a fantastic job at social media and really getting their name out there, so I have high hopes for these palettes. They do all kinds of makeup though so there is something for everyone and the prices are really good.
I have been waffling on about Benefit and there new launches a bit lately. Apologies if it doesn’t float your boat.
I have spoken about when I was invited to the launch of Roller Lash here and given some info on it already, aswell as delving into their Puff Off Eye Gel here for tired puffy eyes.
Roller Lash is Benefit’s newest mascara. When you think of Benefit Cosmetics, you tend to think of mascara, it’s their thing and they do it well. Roller Lash is no exception.
I am a waterproof mascara junkie. I have crap lashes that are straight and the only way they tend to hold a curl is with a waterproof formula. Roller Lash has proved me wrong here. Benefit say you don’t need to use an eyelash curlers when using Roller Lash. If you are already blessed with some sort of curl to your lash, then you don’t need to bother at all. I do curl mine though, that’s what makes me feel comfortable.
Roller Lash has a plastic brush which we see more and more of nowadays in our mascaras. This brush has little tiny hooks on it, that grab the lashes when you run it through, catching them, coating them with mascara and lifting them up as you go. If you look close you can kind of see them, it’s hard to show them in a picture because the product is covering the brush.
So now for the part we all want to see, Roller Lash in action π

They look a little better no? Roller Lash lengthens and separates your lashes really well. It has a wet formula, but its not too clumpy or hard to work with. You can layer a good amount of it on and your lashes still keep a curl. I have worn this most days since I have gotten it and it has yet to flake or transfer throughout the day. It is not a waterproof formula so you do not have to scrub your eyes raw to get it off at the end of the day either.
I choose not to wear it on my bottom lashes just because I know Mac’s Extended Play works for me there and it has a small wand so I find it easier to use. I would of course use Roller Lash if I did not have another mascara specifically for my lower lashes though. #makeupobsessedproblems :p
Its a really great mascara and I am personally pleasantly surprised I like it so much, as I never really got the hype for Bad Gal of They’re Real. Roller Lash is the one for me.
I was invited onto Benefit’s Benebus on a cold windy and rainy evening this week. Where’s the pretty picture of the bus you ask? We would have taken our lives into our own hands trying to take a snap in that weather, apologies π
I do however have the down low on Benefit’s newest launch coming to stores near you at the end of February.
The evening itself was so much fun. Benefit sure know how to put on a soiree and show a gal a good time
We were whisked into a 50’s salon wonderland on board the bus.
It was the perfect surroundings for their newest product “Roller Lash” mascara.
The idea behind Roller Lash is the Velcro roller…what? Well think about it we still to this day use Velcro rollers to give our hair some volume and curl why can’t they use a similar concept to create a mascara?
It is a curling mascara (obviously),Β a lightweight formula so you can layer it up, it is also meant to last for 12 hours without clumping or transferring, but is still easy to get off. The plastic, curved wand has little hooks all over it to lift and curl your lashes as you coat them. You can hardly see them but they are there we promise π

And after playing with it for a couple of days, I am so far impressed with this little tube, it has been living up to its expectations. For a mascara this is very difficult indeed.
Our goodie bags which were such a pretty Benefit makeup bag I had to show you.
It also contained Benefit’s newest undereye de-puffer, “Puff Off”.
Yes the applicator is a tiny iron!! This is meant to glide on, cool your undereye on contact and rid you of your morning eye puffiness. We shall test this out and report back to you.

Over the past couple of weeks I have picked up a few affordable makeup bits in between Christmas shopping for friends and family. I got some really nice goodies so I thought I would share them with you in case you need some shopping inspiration π
First up I went to Boots, one of my favourite places to be. The waft of perfume as you walk through the door just puts me in a good mood.
I picked up Rimmel’s Lasting Finish Nude foundation.
This is a new version of their normal Lasting Finish which is a firm fave here at Chatterbox. This is a lighter version of it. It has a good medium coverage and an SPF of 20 which is great for an everyday foundation.
So far I have been loving this, it’s not cakey, the 100 Ivory shade is a good match for my pale skin and it has been lasting really well on my also oily skin. So far a good buy. This set me back β¬8.99 in Boots
I got one of Maybelline’s new Color Tattoo Leather Effect Cream shadows to give a go next.
This is in the colour “Vintage Plum 97”.
I have so many of the Color Tattoos and love most of them. This one is nice, I really like the colour, it makes a great base for plum, brown or purple eye looks. It is matte with no shimmer in it at all. I cannot say it really looks like leather though.

This is the Max Factor Excess Shimmer in “25 Bronze”. I am in love with this, let me tell you that from the getgo.
Oh my god the pigment is amazing, a tiny bit of this goes such a long way. The texture is so cool, it’s soft and nearly whipped to the touch unlike the Color Tattoos. It is so easy to blend also.
I can wear this just on its own without a shadow on top. I love the colour too, it’s bronze but with a coppery feel, right up my street.Β These cost β¬9.99 from Boots
Last thing I picked up in Boots was the Maybelline Instant Anti-Age, The Eraser Eye in “Nude”.
This is a sponge applicator under eye concealer for cancelling out under eye circles.
I’m on the fence about this product so far, I think I need to keep using it before I give a true opinion. It costs β¬11.99
Soooo, then I did some damage over on Cloud 10 Beauty They had 20% off their whole site for black Friday, I could not resist!! I firstly picked up the cult product that is The Balm Mary-Lou Manizer.
So many of you told me I needed this over on social media, so thanks π It is such a pretty gold toned highlighter. It is ridiculously shimmery but there is not lumpy sparkle in it which I think is what makes it so pretty and wearable.
You don’t have to look like a disco ball to get a highlighted effect. You can pick this up from Cloud 10 for β¬19.00
This is the E30 eyebrow brush. I wanted an angled eyebrow brush with a spooly on the end and this fit the bill, also the ends are purple how cute π This cost me β¬6.95
I got one of the Sleek Eye and Cheek Palette in “See You At Midnight 028”.
I have only gotten my hands on this today so I have yet to try it out properly, but on first look and swatch I really like it.
It is very winter appropriate. Plums, purple,cranberry and gold galore. There is two blush shades “Antique” in the top left corner and “Pomegranate” in the bottom right and then 4 eyeshadows from The Vintage Romance iDivine palette. Can’t wait to get stuck into it π I think this is the best deal out of everything at β¬12.95
I got another Sleek product from Cloud 10 Beauty.
Another Eau La La Liner to add to my collection. This is the shade “Cocoa 327”. Nothing much to say about it, it’s a matte chocolate brown eyeliner.
I love these liners, I have them in so many colours, but not in dark brown so I picked one up. This will set you back β¬5.99
I also got a couple of other random things so I thought I would throw them into the list too for good measure.
I got this when IΒ was buying the other bits on Cloud 10.
This is the Daniel Galvin Junior Hangover Hair. My hair needs a bit of TLC and this was cheap and organic so I thought I would give it a go, no real thought process there. I will report back if it is any good. It is β¬4.49
Lastly, these are definitely not beauty based, but they are beautiful π
These are New Look heels that I ordered from Asos when they were having 20% off for black Friday. I just thought they were so festive and sparkly and also the heel is thick and respectable not a look I go for very often π Full price, these are β¬39.99, so not bad at all, I am sure I will get alot of use out of them over the festive season.

Scented nail polish? I remember these from back in the 90’s, yep I’m that old! A goopy, cheaply scented mess, that kids painted their whole hands with, not something I really wanted to relive.
When I saw these beautiful little bottles on the shelf in Boots, they spoke to me. That ever happen to you? They are just so gosh darn cute, how could one resist π There is not a huge array of colours in the Revlon Parfumerie range, but there is enough practical shades and a couple of whimsical ones to keep your colour needs at bay.
I chose two colours “Surf Spray and “Ginger Melon”.
“Surf Spray” is a typical me colour.
I always gravitate towards green and blue nail polish, I don’t know why.
This goes on quite sheer so needs about 3 coats to look opaque on the nails.
It’s a really pretty shimmery blue, and when it dries it does smell of what we imagine surf spray to…or at least what candles and products with similar names do anyway π
“Ginger Melon” is much more of solid traditional nail polish colour.
It’s a fab orangey coral number, which would be fab on the tootsies as well as the fingers.
This is much easier to apply than “Surf Spray”, its very opaque and you could probably get away with one coat in a hurry, although I did two. When it dries it has a lovely sweet scent to it that is not overpowering at all.
Both of the colours lasted really well on my nails and only wore away rather than chipping, I was really impressed.
I like the scented element of them. As a nail polish junkie, I try to get involved in all of the trends that come up. The smells are not very strong. They would not be putting you off your dinner, in my opinion anyway. You just get a subtle whiff if your hands get close to your face or like me if you keep “discreetly” putting your fingers to my nose to see if the scent is still there…I’m a classy lady!
After a few handwashes, I think the scent fades even more, so if you didn’t like it and just enjoyed the colour of the polish, you don’t have to worry too much about it. And lets face it the bottles are adorable, I think I would nearly buy one for that alone, don’t judge me.
Overall, these are really nice nail polishes, and I think Revlon did a really nice job, the scent gimmick would pull you in, but I think the polishes themselves stand alone as good, opaque and long lasting. I bought these in Boots, on offer buy one get the second half off. As with most Revlon items they are overpriced in Europe at 8.99Euro.
