Major spoiler alert. Most of this video is slightly out of focus! Why may you ask? Because stupid Gemma (i.e me) focused the camera and then proceeded to sit in the wrong position like a dope! I debated on whether or not to scrap it. But I am mostly chatting about the confidence boosting beauty products in my life and just applying them as I go. Being able to see my potato head clearly really isn’t necessary in the grand scheme of things. Sure the beginning and end is in focus, you can see me in all of my glory there ๐Ÿ™‚

I did a video a while ago here about products that make make me happy. Things that have a meaning to them whether they be connected with memories or people. I thought this was a good continuation on from that. We all have certain confidence boosting products in our beauty drawers right? Things that put a spring our step, that we know look good on us?

beauty blog ireland

I thought I would chat about mine. Now don’t get me wrong, I am not saying that makeup necessarily equates to happiness. I am not that narrow minded, This is just me talking lightheartedly about certain products that I keep in my life because I know they work for me ๐Ÿ™‚

Confidence Boosting Beauty

  • The eyeshadow shade ‘half-baked from Urban Decay.
  • A good eyelash curlers.
  • Eyeliner in my waterline. I used the Inglot AMC Eyeliner Gel in 96 (you can see it swatched here).
  • Mac Cosmetics Springsheen blush. On the Brown Thomas website here.
  • theBalm Mary-Lou-Manizer highlighting powder. The tone of this just works for me. I have an old review of it here.
  • Mac ‘Girl About Town’ Amplified Lipstick. You can get it from Brown Thomas here. I just realised I have two Mac products listed! Not on purpose, promise ๐Ÿ™‚
  • Setting Spray. I am loving the L’Orรฉal Infallible Fixing Mist. (full review here).
  • My confidence boosting fragrance is Viktor & Rolf ‘Flowerbomb’. An oldie but a goodie. You can get it from Debenhams here.
  • Instant Tan! The ones I mention are the Vita Liberata Body Blur and the Bellamianta Skin Perfecting Instant Tan.
  • Then finally, my last confidence boosting beauty product is nail polish, or at least just having my nails did :). I chat about the Wet n Wild 1 Step Wonder Nail Polishes. I honestly love these!!

John kindly bought me the new Urban Decay Naked Skin Shapeshifter for my birthday.

Urban Decay Naked Skin Shapeshifter

I asked him why because it wasn’t something I had hinted at or anything and he simply said. ‘Because you collect Urban Decay.’ Cannot argue with that logic ๐Ÿ™‚

urban decay naked

The Urban Decay Naked Skin Shapeshifter is a contour, colour correct and highlighting palette. It comes in two shade ranges. One for darker skin tones and then the one I have here which is the light medium shift, more suited to lighter skin.

irish beauty blog

The palette itself is quite narrow and is two sided. The creams are on one side. You get five in total.

And the powders on the other. You get four in total.

Both are separated by decent sized, double sided mirror and the palette has a magnetic closure. The packaging reminds me a lot of the Naked Smoky Palette which I reviewed here when it first came out.

The creams consist of a dark contour shade, a light contour, a colour corrector (peach toned), a colour corrector/highlighter (pink toned) and then a pearl highlighter. You get 2.15 grams of product in each pan.

The powder side consists of a dark contour, a medium contour, a light contour and a pearl highlighter. You get 3.7 grams of product in each pan.

Both the creams and the powders are really nice quality. They are all soft, pigmented and easy to blend. The creams do not have any slip too them which I like. And, the powders do have some kick back once a brush is introduced, like most Urban Decay powders because they are so soft in texture. I particularly like the lighter powder contour shade and the highlight shades in both. The dark cream contour shade is a bit too full and brown on for me though.

Here they are in action on my face. I used the cream peachy colour corrector and the pink colour corrector/highlight under my eyes and set it with the light powder contour shade. I also used the medium powder contour shade as contour. Then, the cream and powder highlighter shades to highlight the tops of the cheeks and the tear ducts.

I find the light contour shades on both sides a bit confusing. To me, they are both just yellow toned product. I would probably use both to brighten under the eyes. I really couldn’t see them being used as contour products personally.

You can buy the Urban Decay Naked Skin Shapeshifter now in Debenhams in store or online here. It costs โ‚ฌ47.50. Have you picked it up? Would you pick it up? I always love to know your thoughts ๐Ÿ™‚

My first official video of 2017 comes in the form of my Makeup Favourites for the year gone by.

top irish beauty blog

I thought rather than just show you my makeup favourites, I would show you them in action too. I picked my most used products and created a really simple ‘me’ look that I usually end up doing when I don’t know what to do. Some of the products were new in 2016, some were new to me for the year and then some are just favourites that I always gravitate towards because I know they work.

I already did a post on the Urban Decay Naked Ultimate Basics Palette this week here if you want to see it up close and swatched.

urban Decay Naked Ultimate Basics Palette

I thought I would do a post showing it in action too, just to give you an idea of how it applies. And, of course I was itching to use it on my eyeballs ๐Ÿ™‚

urban decay naked ultimate basics palette

I did it in video form just because I think it’s the best way to do it really. As I always say, I am not a makeup artist, nor is my makeup application perfect. I definitely could have blended more. But, I hope me showing it in action gives you some indication of how good the shadows are in the Urban Decay Naked Ultimate Basics Palette. I am really impressed with them. I will say the warmer tones don’t apply as warm as they look in the pan. But, that doesn’t really bother me too much.

I didn’t plan what I was going to do. I just kind of went with the shadows in the palette that I gravitated too. I used the dark brown Colourpop Gel Liner in ‘Brew ha ha’. You can get this from their website here. I will say it did crumble off my lash line after a few hours of wear, not ideal!

I also used the SoSu by Suzanne Jackson Lashes in the style ‘Katie’, which I really love. I picked them up from Cloud10beauty for โ‚ฌ5.95 here. I will definitely pick up more of her falsies!

You can of course watch the video as always by clicking on the video above, or you can click here to go and watch it directly on my Youtube channel. And sure you could always subscribe while you were there if you fancied ๐Ÿ™‚

Did you pick up the Urban Decay Ultimate Naked Basics Palette? What’s your favourite shade? Let me know and thanks for clicking, reading and watching. I really really appreciate it.

I didn’t need it but, I got it anyway. Here is the new Urban Decay Naked Ultimate Basics eyeshadow palette ๐Ÿ™‚

urban Decay Naked Ultimate Basics Palette

This beauty has been on every beauty lovers lust list since it was sneak peaked by Urban Decay earlier in the year.

urban Decay Naked Ultimate Basics Palette

The Urban Decay Naked Ultimate Basics eyeshadow palette. It is a bit of a tongue twister of a name, right? I understand the concept of keeping it in the ‘Naked’ family though, it has done pretty well for them. And, there is an abundance of basic shades to be seen so that makes sense too.

The palette itself is super pretty. It has a champagne gold colour plastic case with an embossed logo on the front.

urban Decay Naked Ultimate Basics Palette ireland

Inside you get a really decent mirror.

And, a little dual ended ‘Blending and Smudger’ brush.

Inside the case sits 12 eyeshadows. Here they with and without the flash.

I have to be honest, before buying the Urban Decay Naked Ultimate Basics Palette, I thought all 12 were matte. The slogan is ‘All Matte. All Naked’ However, there is one satin highlight shade within the palette.

Here are all 12 shades up close and swatched:

top irish beauty blog

One the top, from left to right, we have: Blow (the demi-matte shade), Nudie, Commando, Tempted, Instinct, Lethal.

top irish beauty blog

Then on the bottom row, from left to right, we have: Pre-Game, Extra Bitter, Faith, Lockout, Magnet, Blackjack.

top beauty blog

These are all new neutral shades to the Urban Decay Naked family. I have yet to try them on my eyeballs, I will hopefully do that in video form soon. But, on first swatch these shadows are super soft and buttery. There is a few warmer shades in there too which is always appreciated. I know alot of makeup lovers prefer one or the other, but I love that there is a mixture of cool and warm tones within, It gives you the option.

First impressions for me are really good. I am excited to get stuck in and try all the shades properly. If you want to get your hands on the Urban Decay Naked Ultimate Basics Palette. You can buy in store or online here from Debenhams. It will set you back โ‚ฌ47.

What are your first impressions? Let me know ๐Ÿ™‚

It’s monthly favourites time again. I’m back to ramble all about my September Favourites for 2016 this time.

irish beauty blogger

Can you believe it’s October? The year is honestly slipping away at a rapid speed, I can’t keep up at all! My September favourites consist of makeup, skincare, fragrance and even a stab into the fashion world.

September Favourites

There’s the original Urban Decay Naked Palette. You can of course get this from Debenhams here.

The makeup mixing palette, I picked up in store from Penneys for โ‚ฌ4. A little bloody bargain.

The Sleek Cleopatra’s Kiss Palette. I have a full review and demo of this here. It’s worth a look, I promise ๐Ÿ™‚

The Clarins Instant Light Comfort Lip Oil. A definite splurge at โ‚ฌ21, but a really nice treat for the lips. You can get it from Debenhams here.

Stella McCartney Pop Eau De Parfum. Summer in a bottle for me ๐Ÿ™‚ You can buy this from Boots or any decent perfume shop. Here’s a link to it on the Debenhams website.

Asian sheet masks are readily available from different sellers on eBay or Amazon. A Irish distribution called Natural Balance Global sent me the SNP ones that I have particularly enjoying. Here’s a link to their website if you fancy checking them out. They do come in boxes of ten though, I think that’s worth noting, in case you were just looking to try them out.

Then, the last of my September Favourites includes my cute little Zara bag. It’s โ‚ฌ29.95 and I ordered it from the website here. May I add, Zara are killing it in the bag game. I just went on there to get the link for my bag and saw at least five other bags I really really want!

And there you have my September favourites for 2016!

I am kinda sad to be leaving the Summer behind, not gonna lie ๐Ÿ™‚
