L’Oréal Cherry My Cheri Palette

The new L’Oréal Cherry My Cheri landed on my doorstep as a PR gift a couple of weeks ago now. The theme as you would guess from the name is cherry hued shades. On first glance, the colours are so in. And they seem to tick every box from light, neutral, transitional, lid and dark shades. It would be a colour palette you could definitely take with you on a weekend away and have lots of matte, satin and shimmer options.

There is 16 shades to choose from in the L’Oréal Cherry My Cherie Eyeshadow Palette. To the touch, they feel soft and pigmented. The shades do have a subtle fruity scent to them. But actually it’s not too intense at all, although it is used as a marketing tool by L’Oréal. If you lift the plastic off the back above, it shows you the shade names and what kind of finish it is.

Calling it a mega eyeshadow palette is a bit much in my personal opinion, yes the pans are pretty decently sized, but it you can hold it in one hand. I think the packaging looks really similar to the NYX Ultimate Palettes.

Here are all the shades swatched from left to right, from top to bottom. As always I just used my fingers.

The colours all swatched pretty vibrantly, and there wasn’t too much fall out or mess. Obviously, it’s applying them on the eyes that really counts, so I did do a quick little eyeshadow look too, showing you some of the shadows in action.

My two cents on the L’Oréal Cherry My Cheri Palette? I think its pretty expensive for a ‘drugstore palette’. It comes in at nearly 20 quid in most places, including Boots. Although I did find it on sale from Littlewoods here. Yes, the shades do swatch nicely and you can lay them down on the eyes pretty well. However, when you start to blend, that’s when things go a bit pear shaped. You’ll see in the video I had to reapply the lid colour a couple of times. As I tried to blend out a matte shade in the crease, I completely blended away the lid shade. And the matte shade if I’m being totally honest This, for me is where the problems lie. Also I tried to use the darker shade as liner and the opacity just wasn’t there at all. I needed some setting spray to make it work. It wasn’t needed to just bump up the colour a bit, it was necessary. I just find the palette hard work!

Wet n Wild Megaglo Highlighting Powders

The Wet n Wild Megaglo Highlighting Powders have been around for a while now. I had tried to get my hands on them a few times as such good things were been said about them online. Unfortunately for me (not Wet n Wild of course), they always seemed to be sold out in my local Penneys and Dunnes.

Luckily (for me), I was sent a package from the brand with their best selling products of 2017! Included, were two shades of the Wet n Wild Megaglo Highlighting Powders.

There is more in the within the range, but I believe these are the only two shades available in Ireland at this time.

I can honestly say, they are some of the best affordable highlighting powders I have yet to come across! If you follow me on Instagram, you’re probably sick to your back teeth of listening to me talk about them. I thought they deserved a blog post for reference purposes though, and some close up pics too.

The packaging is a little bit flimsy on these. I tend to find that a lot with Wet n Wild products. I guess they have to cut corners somewhere to keep costs down. The powders themselves are soft and easy to blend. They leave a shine on the skin, with a hint of shimmer. I find they apply really nicely with a dense brush for more pigment pay off. But, you can also get a lovely, more subtle effect with a fluffy brush.

The first shade ‘Precious Petals’, is a pale golden pink shade.

This, for me, is the colour I reach for most as an everyday highlight. It’s a shade that compliments my pale pink toned skin.

‘Crown Of My Canopy’, is very much a rose gold shimmer.

Although I can get away with it as a highlighter if I warm my skin up. In my humble opinion, I think it is more suited to more medium tones. I use this A LOT for eyeshadow. I reach for it so much to use as a wash of colour all over the lid.

I think it’s safe to say I am a big fan of the Wet n Wild Megaglo Highlighting Powder. Since receiving them myself, I’ve seen them a few times now in store. It’s always the same, isn’t it? 🙂

Boyfriend Does My Makeup

I roped John in to do the Boyfriend Does My Makeup challenge! It took a bit of persuading, he was a bit skeptical about being in front of the camera.

After a few beers though, we set up the camera and we jumped in. And I think you’ll agree with me after watching it. He took to it like a duck to water 🙂 I never particularly pride myself on being great in front of the camera, I just do it because I enjoy it. He’s so bloody quick and funny, he puts me to shame really 🙂

It took us an age to begin though because he couldn’t get used to the ring light at all. So if you hear him complaining about the light, that’s what he is on about!

If you’re not an avid YouTube watcher like myself. The Boyfriend Does My Makeup challenge is basically an umbrella term for your partner chancing their arm with your makeup. Myself and John are together over thirteen years, so calling him my ‘boyfriend’ is a bit strange. He’s just John to me now ha!

He tries to think he knows a thing or two about makeup. And to give him credit, he does listen to me harp on. (Notice the Anastasia Subculture reference he makes). I don’t think he realised just how hard it is to apply it all, and how much time and effort goes into it all. I reckon he won’t badger me so much now when I’m running late for a night out 🙂

Mac Fruity Juicy ‘Oh My Passion’ PearlMatte Face Powder

Nope, I definitely didn’t need it! But, I got it anyways. This is the Mac Fruity Juicy ‘Oh My Passion’ Pearlmatte Face Powder! Isn’t she a beauty?

To be completely honest, I bought this completely based on how it looks in the pan. That is the most makeup addicted thing I have ever said, and I am completely OK with it 🙂

According to the Brown Thomas website the Mac Fruity Juicy ‘Oh My Passion’ Powder is: ‘A unique face powder featuring a flirty flower pattern pressed into it. Pearlized and satin shades feature a rich texture, velvet finish. Can be used as a blush and highlighter. (Also suitable for eye area.) Limited edition. Special packaging with tropical fruit and floral print.’ They had me at flirty flower pattern, ha!

I must admit, I do hate the name of this collection, it just makes me think of chewing gum. The packaging definitely saves it for me though.

There is four shades within this powder. The flowers are light yellow gold shimmer, lilac and coral. And then, then what seems to be a leaf motif in the middle is a shimmery bronze shade.

All of the shades alone have a shimmer to them and apply really smoothly and opaquely to the skin. Mixed together you get a really pretty iridescent peach shade.

When I saw the Mac Fruity Juicy ‘Oh My Passion’ powder first, I thought it would probably be too dark for my pale skin. Also, the shades are quite cumbersome to use alone. You need to use a pretty small brush. It can be done though. And they are designed to use on the eyes too. However, I really like the peach sheen you get from all the colours together, so that is probably how I will use it myself personally.

Essence My Must Haves Palette

The Essence My Must Haves Palette are such a great addition to the makeup brands line!

Affordable interchangeable palettes. They come in two sizes. You can buy a quad of an empty palette of eight.

Within the Essence My Must Haves Palette range, there is 20 eyeshadows shades, five blushes, and three lip powders, all with different finishes to choose from, There is also a pink lip base for the lip powders, a highlighter, a bronzer and a fixing powder. All I believe, retail for €1.90 individually.

You purchase the Essence My Must Haves Palette empty and then you can fill them with whatever shades or products you may want from the range. The four pan retails for €1.90 and the eight pan €2.50. All the individual pans are the same size. You just take them out of the cardboard and they click into the palette.

The name and what the actual product is on the bottom of the pan which is handy too.

I have two four pan palettes here filled to give you a closer look at some of the shades on offer.

One of them is actually part of the Essence 15th anniversary live.laugh.celebrate trend edition collection.

There is even more shades release with this collection and the packaging looks a little cooler too 🙂 The trend editions are generally limited edition.

What’s In My Handbag Updated!

I did a What’s In My Handbag video last year when I was heading to a blogger event here. That was more of an evening appropriate bag. I thought I would do an updated one.

This is completely just for fun, no rhyme or reason. I love seeing what other people lug around in their handbag. My bag is technically a bag pack, I am trying something different for me. I adore handbags, but I am a little brat when it comes to carrying them. I thought a bag pack might make things a little easier. So far, so good 🙂

I don’t have a link for it unfortunately, it seems to be gone now. But Zara have lots of lovely bags in at the minute. So many in fact, that I am going to leave a link here, but I’m not going to click on it myself. I can not afford to ha!

The contents of my handbag comprises mainly of makeup. Shock horror I know! When I put something in, I rarely remember to take it out. So, the bag becomes it’s residents for the foreseeable future.

I admire people who have their shit together and have their handbag neat and tidy. I am definitely not one of them. Things just get thrown in and I hope for the best. The bigger the bag, the bigger the mess. I like to call it organised chaos though. I know what I have in it, it just might take me a while to find it 🙂
