Full Coverage Concealer Budget Beauty

It seems I am on a bit of a budget beauty roll at the minute, so just go with me 🙂 My last post was all about brows. This time I wanted to focus on full coverage concealer. I’ve picked three that I own and use regularly.

First up is the Revolution Conceal & Define Concealer.

This had major hype when it was first released. Here it is in action of the face:

It will set you back around a fiver, depending on where you buy it. It comes in a plethora of shades and undertones, 25 to be exact. I did a full review of this here, if you want my in depth thoughts. I think it’s a really decent buildable concealer though and is great for the price point.

Next up is the L’Oréal Infallible More Than Concealer, Concealer.

I dive into my full of review of this full coverage, budget concealer here, if you fancy a read. This has really decent coverage. And I know there are people out there who would choose this over Tarte Shape Tape in a heartbeat. I adore Shape Tape, so I don’t really compare the two. For me, this dries down fast, so you have to work quickly, but it can be a bit more difficult to blend. Having said that, it’s a great ‘drugstore’ fuller coverage concealer, and it comes in 25 shades which is great. I just think for drier under eyes, the other two I chat about here would be better in my very personal opinion 🙂

My last choice is one I haven’t spoken about on Beautynook yet.

I chatted about it briefly on my instagram stories the other day. So if you follow me there, you already have the beauty scoop. This is the Essence Camouflage + Healthy Glow Concealer #mouthful. Here it is in action on my skin first:

I think this only comes in two shade choices which is pretty pants, but Essence are forever bringing out products and changing up their stands. Maybe that has something to do with it. This, for me, is the thinnest formula out out of the three concealers.

It feels the most hydrating under the eyes too, but can still offer up full coverage for those dark circles. I believe there was a matt version of this too, but I have yet to try it. I like that this one isn’t completely flat though and it lasts on me throughout the day. The applicator is also a really cool teardrop shape so makes swiping it under the eyes really easy. And it’s an absolute bargain that you can pick up in Penneys for about 3 euro. Score!

And there are my three budget friendly full coverage concealer choices of the moment. Have you tried any of them?

Easy Orange Eyeshadow Makeup Tutorial

Another day, another makeup look with the BPerfect Carnival Palette. I reach for this beauty a ridiculous amount. If you follow me on Instagram, you know that all too well, apologies 🙂 The colours just make me happy, inspire me and blend really bloody well. This time, I am opting for a relatively easy orange eyeshadow makeup tutorial. Well initially it was going to be a full on tutorial, but the neighbours were doing work out their back garden. So now it’s a get ready with me style video. Hopefully that’s ok too.

I did another makeup tutorial using the mint shade in this palette here too if you want to check that out for more inspiration.

I love using bright shades like this orange eyeshadow, but still making it easy somewhat wearable and easy to work with too. The typical ‘instagram makeup looks’, are amazing, but they’re just not me. I’m definitely more of an attainable, real life makeup gal, but I still like to have fun with it all.

Some of the main products I used in this makeup tutorial are the L’Oréal Infallible Fresh Wear Foundation. I cannot get enough of this stuff at the minute. The Essence Liner is swatched here. Mascara is here. Concealer is Tarte Shape Tape. I have a review of this here. The blush is from my most recent Colourpop haul. The Wet n Wild highlighter is swatched here. Lipstick is the nude from these Bourjois lippies here. I love the formula of these.

L’Oréal Infallible Fresh Wear Foundation Review

I feel like such a broken record when it comes to the Infallible Foundations. I generally love most of them. Well, besides the Total Cover and the stick one. But still overall, I am such a fan, and the L’Oréal Infallible Fresh Wear Foundation is no exception!

I bought their new More Than Concealer originally. (Review here), and didn’t pick this up, just because I have a bucket of foundations at the minute. However, I got sent it within a PR pack from L’Oréal. After seeing so many positive reviews online about it then, my makeup heart was happy to try it 🙂

So what do they say about the L’Oréal Infallible Fresh Wear Foundation?

It’s ‘available in 26 shades. Weightless feel, fresh wear liquid foundation. Transfer proof, life proof, party proof and waterproof. Long wear formula, lasts up to 24 hours. No compromise, full coverage base. Ultra stretchable gel formula.’

A very long winded explanation if you ask me. And in my very humble opinion, not completely true.

I have the shade 15 Porcelain, which is a really decent match for me, and it does come in 26 shades.

The formula for me, is not too fluid and not too thick. In the words of goldilocks, it’s just right 🙂

You can see it properly in action in the super short, Instagram friendly video at the top of this post and here. On me, it has medium coverage. You can see in the video, that I go in with two light-ish layers of foundation and I feel I need that on my red porous skin, to make things a bit smoother and less blotchy.

Here is my skin before application with decent lighting so it looks better than it really does:

And then I go in with another one for good measure:

This is it without powder or concealer on top. It gives a nice glow to the skin without looking too shiny. I have oilier skin, so this is definitely a rarity for me. It sets well and gives a decent medium coverage. On me, it’s not full coverage. It doesn’t feel heavy on my skin at all either, so I agree with them there. I’ve never worn it for 24 hours so I can’t attest to that, but I will say it lasts really really well. And if you do need to touch up with powder, it lends itself to that too. It doesn’t move around or become blotchy in my experience of wearing it.

Overall, I am such a fan of the L’Oréal Infallible Fresh Wear Foundation. I’ll reach for it day to day and for a night out too. You can find it in Boots now and online. I found it for the best price here. Have you tried it?

Makeup Tutorial New In Products!

I always say, don’t judge me for calling this a ‘makeup tutorial’, so I just want to begin with that statement, because I am well aware of my lack of major skills in the makeup department. It’s just a blanket statement and we understand what it means 🙂 Ok now that’s out of the way….

It’s been a minute since I sat down in front of the camera and just did a face. So I wanted to do just that. I have been lucky enough to receive some products from PR over the last couple of weeks that are really decent too. So how did I incorporate them? By doing a ‘makeup tutorial’ with some new in products, genius.

For the most part I used new products, I did have to throw in some oldies too, just because I didn’t have a full face of makeup to use. I’m not that popular 🙂 The new products are mostly from Catrice and Essence, as their new Spring\Summer ranges have just launched. There is loads more products to check out from the brands, I just have a cross section.

I also had some newbies from L’Oréal, including the Infallible Fresh Wear Foundation, which I am currently obsessed with, no lie! And the Maybelline Made For All Lippies. Oh and the new skinny brow pencil from IT Cosmetics.

For me, the star of the show is the Topshop Chameleon Eyeshadow in Evolve. This kind of defeats the purpose of the makeup tutorial because it’s not new. But they have reinvented their beauty range, so I’m using that as my excuse. I need to get my hands on more colours of these shadows.

I am no makeup artist, so the makeup definitely didn’t go to plan. There was a few hiccups along the way, and my winged liner left a lot to be desired. But we got there and I was fairly happy with the finished result.

L’Oréal Infallible More Than Concealer

It’s been a minute since I sat down a did a proper makeup review. Life got in the way of my creative juices, and people don’t swing around these parts as much as they used to. There’s more of you lovely lot interacting over on Instagram. But I love blogging, so Beautynook isn’t going anywhere, I just guess the content will not be as frequent. Tis’ the way of the online world 🙂 Anyways, enough personal rambling, I am here to talk about the new L’Oréal Infallible More Than Concealer….concealer.

I am overall a big fan of the Infallible range. The 24 Hour Matte foundation is one of my very faves, as is the Fixing Mist. I’ve done many a review over the years, some glowing, some grand and some of them not so grand.

So how did I fare with the new L’Oréal Infallible More Than Concealer? In all honesty it falls into the grand category for me, but do hear me out.

I think all concealers that come in a chubby tube with a larger doe foot applicator are always going to be compared to Tarte Shape Tape, case in point the Revolution Conceal & Define and now this. And let’s face it for the most part they can be pretty similar. They’re all more full coverage and have a matte finish.

It comes in 25 shades and L’Oréal say they called it ‘More Than Concealer’, because you can use it to brighten, correct, contour and highlight. Very clever!

For me, It definitely has decent coverage. I have the shade Ivory, which is a little lighter than my natural skin tone so does brighten under the eyes for me. As you can see in these screenshots from the video I did.

So I like the coverage and the colour range, what don’t I like? Now remember this is complete personal opinion as I know there’s a lot of people who love this concealer. It dries down quickly so you have to work fast, thats nor a major problem for me. It’s normal with a thicker, more coverage formula. For me, it takes a lot of blending, I find a fluffy synthetic brush works best for me to do that with. I also find that even though I set it, it creases on me! This very rarely happens for me with under eye concealer, so have to mark it down for that. It also catches on any dryness you might have, which can make it even harder to blend out. These reasons tend to make me want to reach for something more trustworthy day to day. Final verdict? I like it, but I don’t love it.

L’Oréal Cherry My Cheri Palette

The new L’Oréal Cherry My Cheri landed on my doorstep as a PR gift a couple of weeks ago now. The theme as you would guess from the name is cherry hued shades. On first glance, the colours are so in. And they seem to tick every box from light, neutral, transitional, lid and dark shades. It would be a colour palette you could definitely take with you on a weekend away and have lots of matte, satin and shimmer options.

There is 16 shades to choose from in the L’Oréal Cherry My Cherie Eyeshadow Palette. To the touch, they feel soft and pigmented. The shades do have a subtle fruity scent to them. But actually it’s not too intense at all, although it is used as a marketing tool by L’Oréal. If you lift the plastic off the back above, it shows you the shade names and what kind of finish it is.

Calling it a mega eyeshadow palette is a bit much in my personal opinion, yes the pans are pretty decently sized, but it you can hold it in one hand. I think the packaging looks really similar to the NYX Ultimate Palettes.

Here are all the shades swatched from left to right, from top to bottom. As always I just used my fingers.

The colours all swatched pretty vibrantly, and there wasn’t too much fall out or mess. Obviously, it’s applying them on the eyes that really counts, so I did do a quick little eyeshadow look too, showing you some of the shadows in action.

My two cents on the L’Oréal Cherry My Cheri Palette? I think its pretty expensive for a ‘drugstore palette’. It comes in at nearly 20 quid in most places, including Boots. Although I did find it on sale from Littlewoods here. Yes, the shades do swatch nicely and you can lay them down on the eyes pretty well. However, when you start to blend, that’s when things go a bit pear shaped. You’ll see in the video I had to reapply the lid colour a couple of times. As I tried to blend out a matte shade in the crease, I completely blended away the lid shade. And the matte shade if I’m being totally honest This, for me is where the problems lie. Also I tried to use the darker shade as liner and the opacity just wasn’t there at all. I needed some setting spray to make it work. It wasn’t needed to just bump up the colour a bit, it was necessary. I just find the palette hard work!
