Rimmel Wonder Wing Eyeliner

The whole eyeliner stamp phenomenon has definitely intrigued me. I have watched countless YouTube videos of people demoing them. However, the price of them has always put me off. Especially when it comes to getting one of them delivered to Ireland. And sure most of them are just made of rubber. You could probably fashion one yourself. I am not that way inclined though. So when I saw the new Rimmel Wonder Wing Eyeliner, I knew I had to pick it up.

Rimmel Wonder Wing Eyeliner

So the Rimmel Wonder Wing Eyeliner is a standard felt tip liquid liner with one difference. The felt tip is shaped at wing angle. One side of it also has a flat edge. Why? To use like a stamp of course 🙂

Rimmel say, ‘Draw the line and stamp to flick’. Sounds easy in theory right?

irish beauty blogMyself and winged liner have a complicated relationship. Some days it works for me, some days it goes horribly wrong. A lot of the time I’ll use the post-it method. I did a video on this a while back here.

My thoughts on the Rimmel Wonder Wing Eyeliner are, it takes practice, but it can work! You position the flat edge where you want your flick to be and stamp it down to create the shape. It doesn’t always work, but after a few attempts, it definitely gets easier. And then you can create the rest of the line across the lash line with the other side and tip of the applicator.

A couple of issues that I have with it. It’s not the blackest of formulas. It’s not the worst, but I would probably find myself going over it with gel or even powder most of the time. I kind of think the actual stamp would be easier to use if it was the other way around. You could use the pen upright then. I think for me, it would be easier to get a sharper flick that way.

Overall, it definitely gives me a better chance of creating a cat eye I can actually leave the house with. And it definitely gives me a greater chance of getting somewhat even wings on both eyes. Not perfect, but sure what is 🙂

You can get the Rimmel Wonder Wing Eyeliner in stores now. I picked mine up from Boots for €7.99 here. I did see it cheaper in Penneys though.

What do you think? Have you tried it or any of the stamps on the market? Let me know.

I’ve had the Rimmel Brow Shake Filling Powder in my possession a while now. Actually, I’ve been calling it the Brow This Way Soft Powder, which is what is written on the packaging. But, after googling it to find a Boots link, I couldn’t find anything by that name.

Rimmel Brow Shake Filling Powder

Turns out they call it the Rimmel Brow Shake Filling Powder everywhere! Anyhow, I digress 🙂 This is a new (ish) brow powder from Rimmel.

Rimmel Brown Shake

It comes in a little bottle, with it’s own applicator inside. I picked up the shade 002 Medium Brown, which is a pretty ok match for my brows. It does come in four shades though ranging from black to blonde.

It reminds me very much of a powder eye liner. It has the same type of flat, but rounded applicator on the lid.

The premise is you shake up the powder product onto the applicator while the packaging is still closed and then it is loaded up to fill your brows in with.

top irish beauty blog

It has a shaker ball within the lid, which I find a bit odd. If it was going to help keep the powder separated, surely it should be in the container itself? Perhaps I have the complete wrong end of the stick about how it works and if I do, I apologise 🙂

The powder itself packs alot of punch which is great. The medium shade has a greyish undertone too which I always like as well. It seems to adhere to the skin well and lasts too.

For me, I find the packaging and the applicator or the Rimmel Brow Shake doesn’t really work. If you have fabulous full brows (like Cara in the promo ads), I think this would work quite well for you. You can just fill in any gaps lightly really quickly with it and comb through to take away any excess with a spooley and, you’d be good to go. For my struggling brows, the sponge applicator is just too big and rounded. It picks up and applies too much product. I need more precision and have more control over my application.

I find the sponge can drop alot of the powder too on the way from the bottle to your face, which can be a tad messy.

It works ok on my ‘better brow’, which I am showing here. On my right brow, it’s a bit of a disaster!

Overall, I like the powder within. Just for me, the packaging and execution doesn’t really work. You can find the Rimmel Brow Shake Filling Powder in Boots in store on online for €7.99 here. Have you tried it?

I go through lip colour stages where I gravitate towards a more brown nude or a more pinky nude on the daily. Obviously, there will be a smattering of other colours thrown in on special occasions. On an everyday basis though, I will be rocking a more ‘everyday appropriate’ colour. Generally, I tend to go for a matte finish too. It lasts longer and they are less messy. If my lips are feeling a little drier on a particular day, I’ll pop a bit of lip balm over top. My go to pink toned nude combo, are both from Rimmel.

Rimmel Nude Lip

I am a big big fan of Rimmel lip products. You’ll see me talk about them alot here and on social media. I particularly always repurchase their retractable Exaggerate lip liners when I run out. And they do run out quite quickly, the formula is very soft. It means they apply really easily, but they wear down fast as a result.

Rimmel Pink Lip

My go to everyday pink nude combination consists of the infamous Rimmel ‘Eastend Snob’ lip liner.

Rimmel Eastend Snob

Yes, I harp on about this all of the time. I even did a post on it here comparing it to Charlotte Tilbury ‘Pillow Talk’. I own both and reach for this more. It’s great for just waking up the lips and giving some natural-ish colour. It works really well for over lining without looking too obvious aswell. I love it worn just on it’s own.

When I want it to last longer and make it more opaque and lipstick like (if that makes sense, ha?). I apply the Rimmel The Only 1 Matte Lipstick in 200 ‘Salute’ on top.

Rimmel The only 1 matte lipstick

This is a really similar colour, with more pink to it. Eastend Snob is a little more mauve in tone.

I have a post on The Only 1 Matte Lipsticks here, this will give you a more in depth review. I love the formula. It’s a more creamy matte. The smell of these is intense though. It is super floral and sweet. Definitely not my favourite scent ever, but I look past it because I love the finish.

Rimmel Eastend Snob is available in store or online from Boots here. Exaggerate lipliners retail for €5.59. Salute is available from Boots in store or online here. The Only 1 Matte Lipsticks retail for €8.99

These two together just rock my pinky nude lip world. And let me even out my uneven lip line without looking too obvious or over the top. I hope 🙂

Have you a favourite go to everyday lipstick?

So I’m not the best at showing clothes on camera, I have officially learned this fact from doing this video. I’m not particularly comfortable with my size and shape though, so I think that makes me a little nervous about it too. Hopefully I’ll get better as I go along in both instances 🙂 This video is showing all the bits and bobs that I picked up in Zara, Boots, Penneys and Debenhams last week. Buying this much stuff is definitely not a regular occurrence, I just had a bit of a moment 🙂

Zara Boots Penneys Haul

I bought some of the Zara things online, as well as a couple of the other products and I collected them in store. I love having the option to do this. It means you don’t have to pay shipping and I was heading into town anyways so it was a win win for me.

I’ll attempt to list everything I got and link it down below, except for the Penneys stuff…if only they had a shopping website!

The Zara mid heel Chanel wannabe shoes that literally killed my feet (I’m not even joking, they are in bits!). These are on the website here.

Zara Beaded Cross Body Bag. You can find it on the website here.

Here’s the little black bag on the website.

Then, onto the beauty products:

I did a post on the Kat Von D London Calling Fearless Favourites Set here.

I have a full review of the Nyx Micro Brow Pencil here.

Then, the L’Oreal Infallible Fixing Mist is an old fave of mine. I have a review of it here.

The L’Oreal True Match Foundation is €11.99 in Boots at the moment. You can get it on the website here.

And then finally, the L’Oreal True Match Highlighter. They don’t have it on the Boots website right now unfortunately. I got it in store and it was €11.99. The L’Oreal products were on 3 for 2.

And there you have it 🙂

As always, you can watch the video here on Beautynook by click directly on it above. Or, you can check it out on my Youtube channel directly here.

I couldn’t wait for the 13th of September and for Kat Von D Beauty to arrive at Debenhams. I completely caved (like the makeup junkie that I am) and bought the teaser that they offered us to wet our appetite 🙂

This is the Kat Von D London Calling Fearless Favourites Limited Edition Set.

Kat Von D Ireland

Kat says she can’t live without these products and if she can’t, sure that means I can’t…logic!

Kat Von D Beauty

The set contains three mini products. We have the Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in ‘Double Dare’, which is described on the box as a cocoa blush colour.

There is a teeny mini Studded Kiss Lipstick in “Lolita’. The back of the box describes this as a chestnut rose colour. You can see it here compared in colour to the liquid lipstick. It’s a little deeper and rosier in tone. The formula of it is really nice to, it super comfortable on the lips.

And then finally there is a little mini of the cult Kat Von D makeup item that is the Tattoo Liner in ‘Trooper’. And sure I might as well tell you, this is described on the back of the box as satin black :). It’s early day and I’ve only used this once for the purpose of this post. But, I found it simple enough (as simple as a liquid liner can be) to use.

This is my first delve into the Kat Von D Beauty world, but I really like all of the products included in the London Calling Set. The liquid lipstick and lippie are super wearable colours and it’s always good to have a decent liquid liner in your life. It’s a great introduction to the brand and it’s making me even more excited for it to launch here now 🙂

At €27.25 it is pretty pricey, which makes me a bit scared to see the prices of the full range. But, the products are really nice quality.

Kat Von D launches in Debenhams on the 13th of September, and you can buy the London Calling Set exclusively on their website here if you like what you see.

Have you used any Kat Von D products? Have you got any favourites? I need to start my shopping list 🙂

I was doing my usual weekly rummage through the Boots aisle last week, yep I go there weekly to see what’s new 🙂 I can obviously see the products online, but it’s nice to see them in the flesh too. I came across these new Rimmel Magnif’Eyes while on my weekly visit and they were on 3 for 2 so I had to pick some up to show and tell here on Beautynook 🙂

irish beauty blog

I would have picked up more shades of the Rimmel Magnif’Eyes but the Boots I was in literally only had three shades that hadn’t been open and messed up. I think there’s 5 shades in the collection to choose from.

In the words of Rimmel: ‘Rimmel London Magnif’Eyes Double-Ended Shadow and Liner. The ultimate tool for defining your eyes. Ultra long-lasting, waterproof, crease proof, transfer proof formula will stay put all day.Create endless combinations in 2 easy, mistake-proof steps with our highly pigmented double ended stay true shadow and kohl kajal liner; from matte to shimmer to pearly finishes.’

So they are basically a double ended pencil. One one end you get a cream shadow, that’s the domed shaped pencil.

Rimmel Magnif'Eyes

Then, on the other end there is a kohl kajal, which is the pointy pencil.

Each pencil comes with a different colour cream shadow and kajal that compliment eachother.

Here are the three shades I have up close and swatched.

On first swatch the Rimmel Magnif’Eyes are bloody lovely! They’re creamy and pigmented. The fact that they are deemed waterproof, I’m wondering if the kajals would be good for inside the waterline, I will definitely be trying that out, the blue one is calling my name 🙂

I can’t say if they are transfer proof or creaseless as of yet, they have yet to make it on my eyes. But I did swatch them on my arm together. Here’s a shot of them in natural light.

top irish beauty blogAnd then I try to wipe them away quite vigorously with some tissue paper. This is what I was left with.

irish beauty blogThey didn’t move too much at all. I ended up having to use an oil based eye makeup remover to get rid of them!

The retractable pencils are really soft so as you use them they will wear down, making me think think the obvious thought, the kajal liner won’t be as precise as that happens. I think on the cream eyeshadow end the wearing will be ok as you could probably be using it on a larger surface area….

They are available in store now or you can pick them up on the Boots website here. They cost 9.99 but are on 3 for 2 at the minute in Boots if any of them take your fancy 🙂

What do you think? Will you be picking any of the shades up? I would love to know your thoughts.
