I am sure you are no stranger to the L’Oréal Color Riche Lipstick. The brand are constantly bringing out different versions of them. I only spoke about the Gold Obsession collection here at the end of last year. I recieved some of the L’Oréal Color Riche Matte Addiction Lipsticks and I thought I give you an overview.

L'Oréal Color Riche Matte Addiction Lipstick

I am definitely more of a matte lipstick wearer. I do dabble in a glossy finish from time to time. Generally though, a more matte finish is my thing. I do believe some of the shades (upon googling) have been out in different formats before, but the L’Oréal Color Riche Matte Addiction formula is being called their ‘boldest, most moisturising matte lipsticks.’

I have three of the colours from the collection here, but Boots and Superdrug, among other places, have an abundance of shades to choose from.

L'Oréal lipstick

The packaging is what you would expect from the Color Riche range with a matte black finish.

The scent is typical of L’Oréal lippies. It reminds me of my Cabbage Patch Doll. D’ya remember what they smelled like? It is quite strong and sweet. I myself find it kind of nostalgic, but I am sure it could be off putting for other people.

Onto the swatching 🙂

640 ‘Erotique’. The brown nude shade of the three:

463 ‘Plum Tuxedo’. A pink with purple tones, definitely not plum. It’s also less opaque than the other two shades I have:

The L’Oréal Color Riche Matte Addiction Lipsticks are super soft and pigmented. They have a matte velvet finish, but don’t dry down completely on the lips. This means you will get residue, but it also means they don’t crack or feel super uncomfortable either. Because the formula is so soft, I do recommend using a lip brush to apply the bolder colours and it is harder to get a strong line straight from the bullet. They last reasonably well on the lips and the deeper colours do leave behind a stain. Overall, I am a big fan of the formula.

The L’Oréal Color Riche Matte Addiction Lipstick seem to vary in price online. Boots have them on 3 for 2 at the moment here. They are priced at €10.49 each.

Do any of the shades tickle your fancy?

I was sent three of the very soon to be released Seventeen Mega Matte Lipsticks. Since they are due for release on the 3rd of August, I thought I better get them swatched asap and give you a closer look of the shades I have in my possession.

According to Seventeen, “This Summer’s bold, matte lip couldn’t be easier with the launch of new Seventeen Mega Matte lipsticks. The makeup bag must have range of 12 long lasting, high impact shades glide on smoothly for pout perfecting colour.”

Seventeen Mega Matte Lipsticks

The shade range of the Seventeen Mega Matte Lipsticks is pretty varied. It covers those of us who enjoy a nude or muted lip colour and then caters to the more daring lipstick colour risk takers 🙂

The three colours I have from the range give a good indication of the colour spectrum I think.

irish beauty blogirish beauty blogger

I have “Nude News” which is of course the nude matte of the bunch. It is a pink toned nude.

Then, “Lava You A Lot”. An intense orange matte shade.

And finally, “Violet Summer”. A pinky matte purple. Which although feels matte, does have a kind of pink iridescent to it.

My first impressions of the Seventeen Mega Matte Lipsticks are good! I love the packaging, I do enjoy a thinner bullet on a lipstick 🙂

I find myself less inclined to squash them with the lid and I find application a bit easier too. The texture of the lipsticks themselves is soft and applies well. Like with any matte lipstick though, your lips need to be in good condition as dry patches will show through. They are of course drying on the lips too, although I don’t find them too tightening or uncomfortable.

I’ve only swatch them so far, so I can’t tell you yet about staying power, but be sure to ask me on social media over the next while and I can let you know how I got on wearing them out and about 🙂

The Seventeen Mega Matte lipsticks are available from Boots in store and online here from the 3rd of August. Their recommended retail price is €6.29.

I had to do it at least once! When Colourpop announced they are now shipping internationally, my heart skipped, skipped a beat 🙂

My heart then proceeded to drop when I saw what they were charging to ship internationally. $25! And that doesn’t include custom clearance! But like the good little makeup fiend that I am, I couldn’t stop thinking about ordering. They give you $5 off if you sign up to their newsletter so I thought, feck it! I’ll even just do it the once and take the hit. Then, I proceeded to go over the Irish customs limit too (I think anything over $25 puts you in the danger zone of having to pay tax. I just couldn’t justify all of that money to ship it over and only getting a couple of things. I wanted to get my monies worth. I risked it and it paid off. I did not have to pay customs on the package. But that doesn’t happen all the time, I think it really is just the luck of the draw. If you fancy fancy seeing what I got. Here’s my first ever Colourpop haul.

Colourpop really know how to package a…package! The box is so pretty.

The packaging on the products themselves is really nice too.

I picked up two of their Super Shock eyeshadows.

‘Game Face’ which is a penny bronzed metallic colour.

And ‘LALA’, which is a rose gold metallic shadow.

They both cost $5 each.

I picked up one of the Supershock Cheek Highlighters.

This is in the shade ‘Lunchmoney’.

Colourpop describe it as a soft light gold with a reflective duo chrome finish.

These cost $8 each.

The powder products feel like nothing I have ever used before. They’re nearly wet to the touch and have a gel like consistency when you apply them to the skin. Colourpop tell you that the formula is best applied with the fingertips.

I chose one of their Crème Gel Colour Liners to try.

And one of their Crème Gel Liner Pencils too that will hopefully go with the other eye products.

The Ultra Matte Lips are $6.

Colourpop haul dunzo 🙂

I placed my order with Colourpop on the 12th of July. They did give me a USPS tracking number and I could track my package up until it went on to the international flight. Then, I couldn’t get an update on it. I received my order from my regular postman, on the 26th of July. My total bill was $66 with the $5 discount. That worked out at €61.31 and I paid with Paypal. As I mentioned already though, I was lucky customs let the package through and I didn’t have to pay an extra penalty.
What do you think? Are you tempted? The products themselves are really reasonable priced, I think. If they brought down the shipping, I think I would be more than happy to shop with Colourpop again. First impressions are really good, I like the products I got, alot 🙂

I have already harped on about the other theBalm Meet Matte Hughes shade in my collection Charming here. I was browsing theBalm section in Foody’s Pharmacy and saw that they had the shade Committed and the rest is history 🙂

theBalm Meet Matte Hughes Committed

I love this shade so much, I felt like it needed it’s very own blogpost #obssessed or wha’? 🙂

theBalm Meet Matte Hughes

I think Committed is like Charming’s nude best friend. Like all of theBalm Meet Matte Hughes Liquid Lipsticks. Committed has a minty, but still sweet smelling (without being too overpowering), they have a creamy formula when first applied, are opaque and dry down to a matte finish on the lips. Although they are matte, they’re not super unconfortable to wear, although as I said in my previous post, it always helps to have your lips in tip top condition to get the most out of a matte liquid lipstick. theBalm Meet Matte Hughes are super long wearing and do little to no transferring unless of course you break into the greasy foods, it will start to separate.

Committed is the perfect pinky nude shade. I am a girl who likes a bit of pink in her nude, no that is not an innuendo, get your mind out of the gutter 🙂

irish beauty blogirish beauty blogger

Really paled out lips just don’t suit me though so I’ll always opt for one with a bit of pink to it, I think it warms up a lighter complexion more.

You can see it here swatched on my lips.

irish makeup and beauty blogHere it is swatched beside Charming, just in case you want to see the difference between the two. Charming (on the right) is definitely more mauve.

top irish beauty blog

Committed is one of those really easy shades that will work with any makeup look no matter how simple or bold you might go. You can even just dab a little onto the lips and add a balm or some lipgloss under it or over top for a long wearing, but glossy version.

top irish beauty blogger

You can pick up the theBalm Meet Matte Hughes of course from Foody’s Pharmacy, but you can also get them online from Cloud10beauty here for €16.50. Now, the question is….which one do I pick up next?

How about a long wearing matte cherry red lip choice for under a fiver?

I have here the Penneys (or Primark) red lip liner in number 05.

Penney's PS Love Lip Liner

Penneys do 4 shades in these P.S Love lip liners. I own them all and think they’re really great great for the price. They are pigmented, easy too apply and the won’t drag the bejesus outta your lips. Using a liner under your lipstick means you can even out your lip line, over draw slightly if you want and it will help any lip product you add on top last longer.

irish beauty blog

05 is a true red colour, so of course you could easily get away with this on it’s own and it will only set you back €1.50. #bargain 🙂

irish makeup and beauty blog

I wanted to pink it up a little, so I added ‘Cherry Picking’ by Wet n Wild into the mix.

Wet n Wild Megalast Cherry Pickingirish beauty blog beautynook

I adore these Wet n Wild Megalast matte lippies. I swatched and reviewed a whole slew of them here, including ‘Cherry Picking’. They cost €2.49 a pop, which is really brilliant value. They come in so many colours too, so there’s plenty to choose from. Wet n Wild is really handy to get hold of now in Ireland, with Penneys and so many pharmacies stocking the brand nationwide.

‘Cherry Picking’ is a red toned pink. And again this is a gorgeous shade all by itself.

You can see it here swatched beside the lip liner, it’s on the right hand side.

irish beauty blogger

When these are added together, I think they give the most beautiful pinky red shade, that would flatter so many skin shades.  Cherry Picking although matte like the liner, it has a more comfortable formula. I am loving this combo and I think it will definitely be a go to for me over the Christmas period 🙂

beauty blog

I love a true red lip, it is so timeless and can dress up any look, but sometimes it’s nice to change things up even a little.

And the best news, both of these lip products together will cost you €3.99. None of us can argue with that can we?

Let me know what you think?

This is a really random post, but I just wanted to spread the word in case you haven’t seen them yet. Glamour are giving away Clinique goodies with their December issue. You can get a mascara, a moisturiser or one of two lip colour choices.

I wouldn’t be one to usually buy into this stuff, but I have been eyeing up the Clinique Pop Lip Colours on the Brown Thomas website and was actually going to pick a couple of them up. You lovely ladies of Snapchat let me know they were giving mini samples away with Glamour though and I raced out and bought two copies as there is two shades up for grabs 🙂

I am so happy I did. The lipsticks themselves are a really good size, they won’t be running out after a couple of uses. The packaging itself is the same as the normal Pop lips just in a smaller size too which I really appreciate…it’s the little things 🙂

The two shades you can pick up with the magazine are ‘Nude Pop’.

Clinique Nude PopThis is a really lovely pink nude, with a little shimmer running through it.

irish beauty blogclinique nude pop swatchAnd there is also ‘Cherry Pop’.

Clinique Cherry PopThis is my favourite one out of the two. It is a pinky cherry red colour.

irish beauty bloggerclinique cherry pop swatch The formula of these Pop Lip Colours is really gorgeous too. They’re like a colour intense lip balm and are so comfortable on the lips. When the shine dies down, you are left with a nice stain which I really like.

Even if you don’t read the magazine, it’s worth picking up for these little gems. Here in Ireland Glamour will set you back just under €3.50. Considering the Pop Lip Colours are €19.50 a pop (see what I did there), ’tis not a bad deal!
