March Favourites 2018

I am way late on the March Favourites for 2018 bandwagon. We are well into April. But sure I thought, better late than never, right?

My March Favourites this year are a bit of a mixed bag of beauty (of course), fashion, (in inverted commas ha), and a Netflix recommendation.

March has been a bit of a funny month for me. I have been job hunting, but in a different way from what I am used to. Blogging for the last four years has given me a love for digital media and I’ve realised it’s the industry I would love to work in. Don’t get me wrong, I would love nothing more than to write about beauty full time, but here in Ireland, as someone like me, that’s not really a reality right now.

So March has been a been a whirl wind of interviews, beauty writing and life stuff. It’s been weirdly a month of clarity for me, so for that I am very grateful. Also, the weather was getting a teeny bit warmer through the month, so that helps everything. I wouldn’t be Irish if I didn’t bring the weather into this sum up somehow 🙂

Ok, I digressed completely there, let’s get into my random bag of March Favourites.

I talk more about them of course in the video, but I will link what I can here.

The Ella & Jo Squeaky Clean Brush Cleanser is my first beauty fave. You can buy it directly from their website or Meaghers Pharmacy also stock it. (It’s currently 20% off from Meaghers.)

I chat about the Wet n Wild 1 Step Wonder Gel Nail Colors all of the time but the shade, Lavender Out Loud, has been my go to shade through March.

The Nudestix Intense Lip + Cheek Pencils are available to us from Cult Beauty. I chat (and am wearing), the shade Kiss.

My Betty & Biddy necklace that I show isn’t on their website now, but I will link them here so you can check out what else they have on offer.

The jeans are from Penneys and Littlewoods as I mention. I don’t have links to either, sorry.

And then finally my honourable fave is Wild Wild Country on Netflix. I’ll link the Wikipedia page here so you can check it out. It’s a mind boggler 🙂

Day Time Makeup To Night Time Makeup

This was very much an off the cuff makeup video. I had just come back from a PR event with Primark/Penneys which was soooooo nice but ended up being way longer than I thought. I had decided before I went I was going to go to Alltech with John that evening too, which is a food and drink fair. It’s on every year here in Dublin in the Convention Centre. And if you know John you know how obsessed he is with craft beer. It was literally like Christmas Day for him, so no way was he letting me make him late 🙂

I had to high tail it home. Luckily Penneys very kindly fed me, so I just had to ‘zhush’ myself up. I say that a lot in this video ha!

I have oily skin, which I’m sure you know if you’ve been around these parts before. So my skin looked a bit like this when I sat down to sort my face out.

I had this makeup on for about five hours, it had definitely started to deteriorate. I didn’t have time to re-do my makeup completely, so this was the easiest option. Just go over what I already had on. I do this quite a lot and it seems to work quite well for me. I thought I would turn the camera on last minute and show you how I do it.

The products I used aren’t really the main focus in this video, although I do talk you through some of them. The Pixi Cosmetics Mixed Metals Palette is a real winner for me at the moment. As is the I Heart Makeup Blush in Peachy Pink Kiss.

I did edit out my ’ems and cut down some of the processes, but for the most part the video is pretty accurate time wise. All in all, it took me about 20 minutes, hair zhushing and top changing included 🙂

February Favourites 2018

This is a bit of an all over the place February Favourites!

The cabin fever has gotten to me and the tangents are mighty. Hope you don’t mind a bit of rambling 🙂

As I write this, the snow is still coming down strong and after three days indoors, I miss civilisation. Ok, I am being totes dramatic and I hope everyone who stumbles across this post in real time is safe and warm. Oh and has enough bread and milk to keep you going. 🙂

In my cabin fevered state, I managed to add in a favourite that I spoke about already in my January favourites. I could have edited it out, but then I thought, I loved it enough to talk about it twice, so I must really like it!

It’s all beauty related chatter for February favourites 2018. I did try to see if I had anything else to add into the pot, but I want it to be genuine. Beauty is the thing I am consistently trying, hence the monthly turn around.

January Favourites 2018

It’s time for my first faves of 2018! Yep, it’s January favourites time. I think I say this in every favourites post, but didn’t that month go fast? I’m actually in disbelief that it’s already February.

Quick disclaimer! My camera for some reason was on a low resolution setting while I filmed this. I am not too knowledgable about the technical side of all this stuff unfortunately. So as a result, this video isn’t in HD. I apologise profusely. I wanted to upload it anyways, because I think if I filmed it again, it would be more contrived as I would be repeating myself. Hope you don’t mind.

My January favourites for this year consist mostly of beauty things, (shock horror), with one ‘fashion’ thing thrown in for good measure. I also chat….in depth about one oral hygiene product. I honestly didn’t think I had that much to say on the subject and I was going to cut a lot of it out. But it ended up being a little personal story about me along with a good chunk of jabber so I kept it in. Hope you don’t mind. I always worry people just want to hear about the products and thats it. But then I remember I want to try make videos I would actually watch and I love a bit of life waffle amidst all of the beauty talk 🙂

As always I’ll list the things I chat about in case you want to learn more about them.

Catrice Lashes To Kill Pro Waterproof Mascara. It comes in non waterproof too. I actually think this was already a standing mascara, they might have just updated the packaging. Regardless, I bloody love it and have been using it everyday since it was sent to me. I can’t find it online, but it’s in Penneys and decent pharmacies nationwide now. I’ll do a full review of it soon so you can see it in action.

My very last January favourite is a pair of runners. I think everyone in the world has at the moment. Old Skool Vans!

I have the suede ones. John got me these for Christmas and apparently people say the suede ones are easier to break in. He got them from Littlewoods but I found them on JD Sports here.

Vlog: Brussels & Bruges

It’s been a while since I uploaded a vlog! We live at home at the minute ie: with the parentals, so it’s not really something I’m too comfortable with doing here. We’ve been trying to do it when we’ve something on or we’re away though.

John secretly likes it and it gives me practice with the camera and talking to the camera in front of him and strangers! I’m still not too great with it, but baby steps and all that 🙂

So if you didn’t know we went to Brussels for John’s birthday for a couple of days. He is majorly into his craft beer, so where else would you be heading with a hobby like that, right?

I am also majorly into chips, waffles and chocolate, who isn’t? 🙂 It’s definitely the place to explore that too.

We were broke after Christmas, so this was predominately a more budget friendly trip. The flights were super cheap in the Ryanair sales and we booked a really affordable AirBnB. I do a little tour of it in the vlog here if you want to see it up close. It was a gem of a find!

If you want to see Brussels and we went to Bruges for the day too from a touristy perspective, this vlog is for you.
We just wandered around, taking in the beautiful buildings. And also eating and drinking what the cities had to offer.

We weren’t sure what to expect, but we had the best time. The people were lovely and considering they already speak two languages within the one country, their English is bloody brilliant. Also, their infrastructure makes it really easy to get around too. We went for two days, we could have easily had one more to take in even more sights and maybe go to a museum or two as well.

The shopping is pretty great in Brussels and Bruges, if that would tickle your fancy more. I managed a quick trip to Kiko, which I was pretty delighted about. I did a haul here if you fancy checking it out.

All in all we had the best time. I didn’t vlog everything just because I’m damn awkward, but hopefully you get a taste of what the cities have to offer.

L’Oréal Steampod Review And Demo

As you probably know if you watched my ‘What I Got For Christmas‘ video. John very kindly got me a L’Oréal Steampod for Christmas.

I say it all the time, hair is not my forte. I’m lucky enough that I have a decent mop on my head, so I don’t always think too much about it. I can straighten and curl it and that’s about as fancy as I get. I have quite the chubby face, so I wear it down most of the time, it’s kind of my comfort blanket. My previous straighteners was a GHD (that was around eleven years old). So a new one was definitely overdue.

After doing some research and listening to some of my awesome blogging buddies, the L’Oréal Steampod was decided on. I got the second generation one.

‘The Steampod 2.0 is a revolutionary hairstyling tool from L’Oreal. A combination of steam and pro-keratin technology helps to tame hair movement and leave it silky smooth, whilst protecting from heat damage’, according to L’Oréal.

There’s loads of videos and blogposts already on it. But I thought I would throw my opinion into the mix. And also give a very basic demo of it on my hair. I have a lot of hair, but it is quite fine and it tends to get limp very quickly. As always you can watch the demo and hear my thoughts by clicking on the video above. John got my L’Oréal Steampod directly from Peter Mark salon here in Dublin. I believe it was Liffey Valley. It’s generally cheaper online though. I found it on Look Fantastic here for the best price.
