Rimmel Lasting Finish Breathable FoundationOne of my favourite, more affordable foundations for a long time, before I believe it was discontinued. (Damn them!), was the Rimmel Lasting Finish Nude. It was the one with the white top not the red one. I liked it the best because it wasn’t as thick, but it still gave decent coverage and lasted well on my oily skin. Their newest member of the range is the Rimmel Lasting Finish Breathable Foundation.

Rimmel Lasting Finish Breathable Foundation

First up, I got this pretty early on, I hadn’t seen much media hype about it. It took me a long time to figure out how to open the bottle. Yes, it took me longer than necessary to realise you have to twist the cap, not pull it. It has a doe foot applicator, not a pump like it’s predecessors. Not my favourite choice of application, but each to their own. You can dispense it onto your hand or a palette and use it that way if you prefer.

Rimmel Ireland

According to Rimmel, the Rimmel Lasting Finish Breathable Foundation: ‘Perfects your skin with light to medium buildable coverage. It is enriched with breathable skin technology and moisturises for up to 25h. Up to SPF 20.’

If you’re familiar with Rimmel foundations, you will be familiar with the scent. The flowery aroma is something to be weary of, it can be quite overwhelming at first, although it does die down as the product settles.

For me, this foundation definitely has a light but buildable coverage. It dries down more matte in finish than I expected it to. I’ve read other reviews and they said it gave a satin finish on their skin. Obviously all of this beauty talk is subjective. On me, it definitely has more of a semi-matte finish. I have the shade 101 Classic Ivory which matches my skin tone pretty well. It’s a little more warmer than my bare skin. I prefer this, as it makes me look less pink 🙂

It covers redness and slight imperfections, not so great with deep pores or wrinkles. The wear time on me is pretty good, although if you have more dry skin it’ll be even better. Overall, I rate is as a grand foundation. I don’t really get the breathable aspect of it though? It’s not super heavy on the skin, but you definitely know it’s there. Also, if you have a drier skin type, and are looking for a more radiant finish, this definitely won’t work either. I’ll for sure get wear out of it as a day time foundation. But, I’m not head over heels in love with it.

You can find the Rimmel Lasting Finish Breathable Foundation available in store from Boots and online here now. And I found it for the cheapest price online from a reputable retailer from Feel Unique here.

Have you tried it?

This little Zpalette contains my favourite and most used Makeup Geek neutral picks. It took a alot of planning and thinking to make this palette and I have to say I am quite proud of it 🙂

Makeup Geek IrelandIf you’ve followed me for a while, you know I am a huge Makeup Geek eyeshadow fan. I am huge fan full stop but my stash contains alot of Marlena’s eyeshadows. In fact as I am writing this it’s making me want to make another order, so I may have more before this post is through 🙂

So what Makeup Geek neutral eyeshadows does my favourite little Zpalette contain? I think there’s a good mix of light, dark, shimmer and matte in these choices. I would happily just bring this palette away with me and be able to create a multitude of looks.

There’s ‘Vanilla Bean’

Makeup Geek Neutral eyeshadowirish beauty bloggerIt’s a cream coloured satin finish shadow, works great all over the lid as a base, or a subtle eyebrow highlight.

‘Peach Smoothie’

makeup geek peach smoothieirish makeup blogThis is one of the best transition colours ever. Its great for a base in the crease, great for blending out colours, generally just great. I love it 🙂

‘Latte’

makeup and beauty blog irelandmakeup geek irelandThis is a cool toned matte brown. I would say I wear this shade nearly every time I wear makeup. I love it for defining the crease.

‘Brown Sugar’

irish beauty blogtop irish beauty blogSuch a pretty darkish shimmery brown shade. This is gorgeous on it’s own just all over the lid, or I love using it under the lash line too.

‘Cocoa Bear’

irish makeup and beauty blogmakeup geek neutral eyeshadowThis is a Makeup Geek Eyeshadow everyone needs in their lives. It is the ultimate warm brown shade. I love layering this on top of Latte in the crease when building up colour intensity. I am really fair skinned though, if you have warmer skin, this is the perfect crease colour. I love using it to smoke out under the lash line too.

‘Bada Bing’

beauty blogger irelandbeauty blog irelandBada Bing is Latte and Cocoa Bear’s really good friend.  Its a chocolatey brown with gold shimmer running through it. It’s great for darkening up the outer edge of the eyes to smoke things up, or across the top lash line or even all over the lid. The choice is yours 🙂

‘Spotlight’

irish beauty bloggerirish makeup bloggerThis is a Makeup Geek Foiled Eyeshadow. It’s shiny, it’s shimmery and it’s peachy perfection in my opinion 🙂 I love wearing this all over the lid, as an inner corner highlight and even layering it on top of eyeshadows to add an extra something. The foiled shadows are even more shiny and pigmented if you use them with a wet brush…I need more!

‘Bling’

Makeup Geek Neutral shadowirish makeup and beauty blogBling reminds me of Shroom or Nylon by Mac. It has a high shine satin finish nearly but no shimmer particles. A great inner corner highlight or I’ve even used it as a face highlight!

The last of my 9 neutral Makeup Geek shadow faves is:

‘Cosmopolitan’

irish blog irelandirish beauty blog makeup geekEveryone needs a shimmery copper eyeshadow in their lives I think. It’s the type of shade that looks gorgeous on every eye colour. A wash of this over the eyes and you’re good to go.

So there you have it my prized favourite Makeup Geek neutral shadows. Have you any? What’s your favourite Makeup Geek product? I need to be enabled 🙂 You can buy directly from the Makeup Geek website here (although customs are an issue so be careful with how much you spend). Beauty Bay also sell Makeup Geek here, they are a little more expensive though.

Thanks for stopping by.

For black Friday Beauty Bay were doing 10% off Makeup Geek. Since the exchange is so bad here, this made the price of the shadows a little bit more bearable. And so I bought a few new friends to add to my collection 🙂

I did a look with some of the Makeup Geek eyeshadows I already own here not too long ago if you fancy having a look at some more.

I was quite restrained and only bought four new ones. Also Beauty Bay keeps selling out so quickly, so you can’t be too fussy when it comes to choosing.

My first purchase was a rather boring but still lovely brown.

This is one of the Makeup Geek standard eyeshadows in ‘Brown Sugar’.

irish beauty bloggermakeup geek swatch

It’s a lovely warm brown colour and thought it would fit in nicely with my other brown Makeup Geek browns :p

This shimmery little number is also one of their standards in the shade ‘Cosmopolitan’.

I went online and saw swatches of this and thought it looked really interesting, so into the basket it went. It’s a lovely shimmery light bronze colour and super pigmented.

I popped two Makeup Geek cherries in this Beauty Bay order.

One was to buy one of their duochrome eyeshadows. This is in the shade ‘Typhoon’.

irish makeup and beauty blogbeauty blog ireland

I love a green shadow I have to admit. This is kind of a blue toned one. I don’t have anything like this in my collection.

The other cherry was to own one their foiled eyeshadows. This is in the colour ‘In The Spotlight’. I am very pleased to get my mitts on this.

I think this is my favourite of my four new friends. It’s foiled so its super shiny. It applied much better with your finger, you just get a light wash of shimmer if applied with a brush. I am in love with it 🙂

I’ve mentioned a million times how big a fan I am of Makeup Geek so I am pretty pleased with my new additions and can’t wait to play with them properly.

Have you any Makeup Geek recommendations? I’m always in the market for more 🙂

Thanks,

Flormar has kind of taken Ireland by storm in the last few months. I won’t bore you with the details, I have more info on the brand here , a review on a couple of their eyeshadow palettes here and a review of their undereye concealer here  All of these will give you extra insight if you want to know more 🙂

For now, we are going to talk Flormar lipsticks.

I like both formulas. Both are creamy and pigmented and come in a plethora of colours…no complaints.

Onto the swatching 🙂

Here are some of the long wearing lipsticks.

This is L35. It’s a glossy hot pink shade.

The Charlotte Tilbury Dolce Vita Palette has been on my lust list for a long ass time. I finally bit the bullet and went in to Brown Thomas to part with the dosh. Ms Dolce Vita looks a bit like this.

charlotte tilbury dolce vita palettebrown thomas charlotte tilburyOn the back Charlotte gives a guide. The lightest shade is the prime, the coppery is the enhance, the darker brown is the smoke shade and then the glitter is the pop. Of course you can use them any way you want, ’tis up to you 😉

dolce vita swatchThey are all shimmery shades. They are buttery and full of pigment too. If you are like me and like a bit more of a matte shade in the crease though, you will obviously have to bring some other shadows into the mix, but we can live with that, right?

The eyeshadow quads feel lovely and luxurious, as does most of the Charlotte Tilbury range. Thank god because the products ain’t cheap!

I did a really quick eye look with Dolce Vita so you can see it in action.

I primed my lids and added a skin colour powder as normal to get rid of any tackiness.

I added a taupe brown shade lightly in my crease too just to give the shimmery colours something to blend into.

irish beauty bloggerI took some of the coppery shade.

irish beauty blogAnd applied this all over my lid. Be sure to tap off your brush, there will be fallout.

irish beauty blogger beautynookirish blogThen took a fluffy brush and blended into the light crease colour.

irish bloggerI then took the darkest ‘Smoke’ shade.

irish makeup bloggerI used a tapered brush and added the colour on the tip of the brush.

irish makeup blogI applied it onto the outer corner of my eye, and blended it into the crease.

I lined my upper lid with the brown Rimmel Waterproof Eye Definer.

irish makeup and beauty blogirish makeup and beauty bloggerirish blog

I curled and added a load of mascara to my top lashes as you do. Then took the lightest shade of the Dolce Vita Palette.

Charlotte Tilbury Dolce Vita Palette (16)I applied this to my brow bone and used it to highlight the inner corner of my eyes.

irish beauty blog makeup tutorialirish beauty blog

I of course had to use the pop shade, so I just applied a light layer of it on my eyelid with my finger. I think it applies best with your fingers.

irish makeup blogCharlotte Tilbury Dolce Vita Palette (20)

To define the lower lash line a little bit, I just applied some of the coppery shade and blended it out.

To finish the look, I added some mascara on my lower lashes and used the Rimmel pencil in my waterline. Dunzo 🙂

I think the shades in the Charlotte Tilbury Dolce Vita Palette are really universal and will work for every eye colour. It looks particularly gorge on blue eyes though. It’s really a lovely palette, but with a €50 price tag (here), it’s definitely a treat. Maybe something to put on the Christmas list?

I already harped on about my go to highlighter, the Balm’s Mary-Lou Manizer not too long ago here. And then I get my greedy little mitts on this.

The Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in the Shade ‘Champagne Pop’.

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Champagne Pop‘Champagne Pop’ is in collaboration with American YouTuber Jaclyn Hill. If you are a YouTube makeup tutorial fan, you already know who Jaclyn Hill is, but if not, she is a Florida based makeup artist turned YouTube makeup guru with millions of people subscribed and watching her makeup tutorials here, including little old me 🙂

We have Becca here in Ireland. Spacenk sell it as well as Mise Beauty. It’s a gorgeous makeup brand that originated in Australia. They already have some beautiful skin perfectors in their collection i.e highlighters, but ‘Champagne Pop’ is the newest one on the block. Unfortunately for us it is a Sephora exclusive, so all us Irish fans had to beg steal and borrow to be the proud owners 🙂

‘Champagne Pop’ is a powder highlight with a peach/champagne tone to it.

Champagne Pop Review

I’ve never owned a Becca Skin Perfector, and now after owning this, I want them all. It glides onto the skin beautifully and is pigmented from the first swipe.

Irish Beauty BlogBut obviously you can build it up to whatever intensity you desire.

It’s gives such a pretty glow to the skin. It shines rather than sparkles if that makes sense? And I love it for this. The peachy shade works on Mac NC20 pale skin, and I have seen others using it with lighter and darker skin tones online and it works just as well.

I apply it with something like this little duo fibre brush from Nima

beauty blog review champagne popI dip it in lightly.

irish beauty blog beautynookThen apply a couple of light layers to the tops of my cheeks. I’m not going to call them cheekbones because my cheeks are way to chubby for that 🙂

irish makeup and beauty blogIt leaves you with a lovely champagne shine to your skin as you can see.

champagne pop swatch

irishbeautyblogLike Mary-Lou, as well as being an absolutely beautiful highlight on the face, Champagne Pop applies just as lovely on the eyes either on the lids as a peachy pop or in the inner tear ducts to open up the eyes. I use a Nima concealer brush for this or a pencil brush.

irish makeup and beauty blog beautynook

beautynook beauty blog

makeup beauty blog

I like to apply a little on my cupids bow too if I’m feeling really fancy 🙂

beautynook beauty blogMy skin has a tendency to ‘eat up makeup’. It just soaks in and begins to disappear after a while. I find that ‘Champagne Pop’ does stay put well on me. And even at the end of the day when the oils are after coming through on my skin (shine in the wrong places) I can still see highlighter on my cheeks. For me, this is rare. Mary-Lou Manizer and Champagne Pop have been the only highlighter I have ever owned to stand the test of time on my oily skin.

I can’t really say anything bad about this product except I wish it was easier to get hold of. There has been talk online though about Champagne Pop coming to Europe though, so if it does, run out and buy it, you won’t be disappointed 🙂

I got Champagne Pop direct from Sephora and it cost $38. It is now part of the Becca permanent line and you can buy in Spacenk and on their website.
