affordable red lip look

I wanted to do an affordable red lip look, but with a really simple premise. I think usually,ย  especially this time of year. The normality is to go for a cat eye, gold or smoky eye with a bold lip.

Affordable red lip look

My vision for the affordable red lip look was a really simple olive toned eye with a matte red lip. I didn’t use any liner, just lashings of mascara. I wanted the lip to be the focal point, but also have the shadow play an interesting role too ๐Ÿ™‚ Most of the time when I do my makeup, even for Beautynook, I just wing it! Not literally, of course ๐Ÿ˜‰ But then sometimes, my imagination is so specific in what it wants. This was one of those times.

I ended up even leaving my hair up and messy. That literally never happens either! You can of course see me waffle about it in video form above, or directly over on YouTube here.

All of the products I used are affordable of course, and they’re all items I really enjoy too. I had applied my base and brows before turning on the camera, but they happened to be all budget friendly products as well.irish beauty blog

So, the main products I used to create my really simple affordable red lip look were:

Initially the Sleek Au Natural Palette. Although I did switch it up, it didn’t quite work for what I was going for.beauty blogger ireland

Inglot single eyeshadows in 305 and 419. You can buy them in store or online here.beauty blog irelandMax Factor Creme Bronzer. Review here.

Nyx High Definition blush in Amber. You can buy online here.

And there you have it! I really like this look. It’s super simple and gives me low key grunge vibes. Let me know what you think ๐Ÿ™‚

I’ve always had a bit of an obsession with blue eyeliner, but as of late, it has gotten a bit out of control ๐Ÿ™‚ I am perfectly OK with my obsession. It is a bit of fun, and adds a bit of interest to a simple makeup look.

top irish beauty bloggerThe 80’s called and said, ‘Well done you’re doing a better job with it than we did!’ ๐Ÿ™‚

Aqua or turquoise tend to be my blue eyeliner shades of choice, but I do dabble in other hues.

My most recent favourite and probably the one that gets the most questions, is the Inglot AMC Gel Liner in 70.

Blue Eyeliner

This is more of a matte sky blue.

Inglot gel liners are some of the best I’ve ever used. They last so well and come in a plethora of colours. I use this mostly in my waterline for a fun pop of colour. But a slick of it on the top lash line and lashings of mascara, looks awesome too!

TOP TIP: If your gel liner is starting to dry out, use something like Inglot Duraline. (Review here). Or Paese Drop & Fix to bring it back to life.

The shade that sparked my turquoise obsession was the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Pencil in ‘Electric’.ย beauty blog irelandThis is just the perfect vivid turquoise shade with a bit of sparkle I have ‘Gonzo’ too which is similar, but matte.

The Urban Decay Pencils are super creamy and last really well. A lot of more affordable brands do their own awesome version of this shade.

I have two here from Essence and Note Cosmetics that I love aswell.

I use this shade the same as I would the sky blue. On the top lash line and in the waterline. I love to smudge it out on the lower lash line too, even with some matching shadow on top to intensify it.

Now I can’t talk about blue eyeliner and not throw navy into the mix. It’s such a great alternative to black or brown.

I did have a liquid one, but I seem to have misplaced it (duh). I love a navy winged line, I think it looks great on all eye colours. It adds a hint of something different without being over the top dramatic. It works beautifully in the water line, and on the lower lash line too though. These ones are from Barry M and another one of the Essence Longlasting Eye Pencils.

I would like to thank my lovely blogging pal Sinรฉad from The Beautiful Truth for inspiring this post. She has been killing the blue liner at the mo. And the lovely Yav aka Makeup Monster. I had put a pic of all of the blue in my collection up on my Instagram a little while ago. It was her that told me I need to write a post. Thanks gals ๐Ÿ™‚

The only question left to ask is….would you rock blue eyeliner?

I went to the launch of the new Inglot Signature Collection Palettes with my lovely friend Ella (aka Siopaella) last week. I am a big Inglot eyeshadow fan. Sure didn’t I only do a haul here not too long ago adding some to my collection ๐Ÿ™‚

Inglot Signature Collection Palettes

There are four colour ways within the Inglot Signature Collection Palettes to choose from.

Inglot Signature Collection Palettes

We have Candy, Coco, Berry and then the one I chose out of the four to take home with me, Honey.

top irish beauty blogger

Some of the shades within the Inglot Signature Collection Palettes are new, and some are preexisting in the Freedom System line up. I asked on Instagram if you wanted to see swatches of the Honey palette and a few of you said you did, so I thought I would cobble together a quick post with everything linked and handy for reference ๐Ÿ™‚

Honey is a selection of complimenting warm tones ranging from warm brown to a light vanilla shade. Two of the colours in the palette are brand new (291 and 287), and two were already available. They all work really well together.

Here they are swatched on my arm from left to right, with and without the flash on: 291, 300, 287, 305.

All the shades are matte and as you would expect from Inglot, super easy to work with.

Freedom System eyeshadows sold on their own are โ‚ฌ6 each. These quads are โ‚ฌ32, with obviously the four shades and then the magnetic palette aswell. This works out the same if you were to buy the palette and any four eyeshadows, so you’re not paying any more or less. You can buy all four of the Inglot Signature Collection Palettes in store and online now from Inglot Cosmetics. Here is the link for the Honey one just in case it takes your fancy or you want to learn any more about it. I might pop up an Instagram video in the next couple of days showing the colours in action too, so be sure to keep an eye out for that.

Major spoiler alert. Most of this video is slightly out of focus! Why may you ask? Because stupid Gemma (i.e me) focused the camera and then proceeded to sit in the wrong position like a dope! I debated on whether or not to scrap it. But I am mostly chatting about the confidence boosting beauty products in my life and just applying them as I go. Being able to see my potato head clearly really isn’t necessary in the grand scheme of things. Sure the beginning and end is in focus, you can see me in all of my glory there ๐Ÿ™‚

I did a video a while ago here about products that make make me happy. Things that have a meaning to them whether they be connected with memories or people. I thought this was a good continuation on from that. We all have certain confidence boosting products in our beauty drawers right? Things that put a spring our step, that we know look good on us?

beauty blog ireland

I thought I would chat about mine. Now don’t get me wrong, I am not saying that makeup necessarily equates to happiness. I am not that narrow minded, This is just me talking lightheartedly about certain products that I keep in my life because I know they work for me ๐Ÿ™‚

Confidence Boosting Beauty

  • The eyeshadow shade ‘half-baked from Urban Decay.
  • A good eyelash curlers.
  • Eyeliner in my waterline. I used the Inglot AMC Eyeliner Gel in 96 (you can see it swatched here).
  • Mac Cosmetics Springsheen blush. On the Brown Thomas website here.
  • theBalm Mary-Lou-Manizer highlighting powder. The tone of this just works for me. I have an old review of it here.
  • Mac ‘Girl About Town’ Amplified Lipstick. You can get it from Brown Thomas here. I just realised I have two Mac products listed! Not on purpose, promise ๐Ÿ™‚
  • Setting Spray. I am loving the L’Orรฉal Infallible Fixing Mist. (full review here).
  • My confidence boosting fragrance is Viktor & Rolf ‘Flowerbomb’. An oldie but a goodie. You can get it from Debenhams here.
  • Instant Tan! The ones I mention are the Vita Liberata Body Blur and the Bellamianta Skin Perfecting Instant Tan.
  • Then finally, my last confidence boosting beauty product is nail polish, or at least just having my nails did :). I chat about the Wet n Wild 1 Step Wonder Nail Polishes. I honestly love these!!

Yep, It’s June Favourites 2017 time ๐Ÿ™‚

june favourites

June is my birthday month so I always think it’s extra exciting for monthly favourites, because I usually have more stuff to ramble about.

june favouritesirish beauty blog

This year’s June favourites really consist of a mixture of everything really.

  • My first faves were something I bought out of my birthday money.

irish beauty blogger

I am totally not cool enough for these babies, but sure I am going to wear the hell out of them anyways ๐Ÿ™‚ These are The Quay Australia X Desi Hi Key Black Fades. I bought them on Asos here. YouTube totally made me do it and I am completely OK with that :).

  • The really inexpensive eBay half lashes that I talk about can be found here, if you want a closer look at them. Definitely not great quality, but they do the job!
  • The band tees are a mixture from Primark and H&M. They are pretty much everywhere at the minute though. I am very much jumping on the bandwagon. It’s a comfortable wagon though so I feel no shame about it ๐Ÿ™‚
  • I speak more about the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge and link to it here.
  • Benefit’s Hoola Bronzer is swatched and linked in a blogpost here.
  • I chat about my new favourite AMC gel liner from Inglot. I did a blogpost on my latest Inglot haul here. You can see the liner swatched and where to get it over there.
  • And then, my final pick for my June Favourites was The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution. This has such a long scary name, I know! You can read more about it on the Deciem website here.

top irish beauty blogger

I obviously ramble a lot more about these in the video here. I just like to do a blog post to accompany it with links, and to add in anything I may have forgotten.

Let me know what you think and if you have any June favourites yourself.

Thanks for clicking.

*****CONTAINS PR SAMPLES*****

My lovely best friend Sue gave me a voucher for Inglot Cosmetics for my birthday. She knows me well ๐Ÿ™‚

inglot cosmetics haul

So, I headed to the South Anne Street store and picked up some new eye goodies to add to my collection.

inglot cosmetics

I ended up leaving with four eyeshadows and two AMC Gel Eyeliners. Honestly, their gel eyeliners are some of the best I have ever used, ever! There was no real rhyme or reason to the eyeshadow colours I picked if I am honest. I just tried to go with shades that I don’t already have in my collection. They don’t really go together at all. But they are super pretty none the less. They’ve set up home with the rest of my Inglot Cosmetics shadows in one of my very grubby Z Palettes.

All of their eyeshadows are linked here, if you want to see them on the Inglot website.

First up is number 366. It’s a matte raspberry shade.

My second new shade is 296. This is a matte red with a hint of pink to it.

407 is a orange toned shimmering golden shade. I am imagining this will look super pretty as a ‘pop’ shade in the middle of the lid. I’m excited to play with it.

419 is my last Inglot Cosmetics eyeshadow purchase. It’s a super pretty shimmery, nearly metallic olive green.

Number 70 is a matte baby blue shade. I got this up because I actually have a Maybelline kohl pencil in the same shade. You can see it swatched here. I use it all of the time in my water liner and love it. I thought I would treat myself to a more long wearing version.

The second one is number 96. A mid toned brown with flecks of golden shimmer running through it.
