I’m like a broken record, I know, but I have pretty oily skin and as a result of this makeup, as much as I love it, doesn’t particularly love me. It sinks into my skin, oxidizes and just doesn’t hang around too long. So, as a result, over the years, I’ve tried and tested lots of different ways to make it last longer on my visage. I’ve done a post about this in the past, but I’ve updated and added some different steps, so I thought I would put together all of my Long Lasting Makeup Tips in video form and demo them on my mug 🙂

There is a lot of long lasting makeup steps in the video, I don’t expect anyone to do them all, unless of course you’re really oily like me. You can click on the video up above or go to my YouTube channel here to watch.

So many of you told me you love watching Get Ready With Me style videos. I love watching them too (not my own though if I’m being honest ha) So here’s a Spring Makeup one, where I am basically applying a face of makeup that I would wear for a Spring day/early evening. Myself and himself were off for some Friday eats this day so I thought it would be a appropriate because I was actually doing my makeup to go somewhere, not just for the sake of filming 🙂

This is more of a talk through style video, which I still haven’t completely mastered, words still elude me 🙂 But I thought I would give it a whirl and sure don’t they say practice makes perfect, right?

Irish beauty blogI used a mixture of more affordable and more high end makeup which is a true representation of my normal makeup routine. I like to mix it up 🙂

I already reviewed the L’Oreal Infallible 24HR Matte Foundation last year. After using it for a while I thought it was good but nothing really special.

L'Oreal Infallible 24HR Matte Foundation

I have since deleted that post, because I have been using it a lot over the past few months and I have properly fallen in love with it. It has converted me and I am not too proud to admit it 🙂

irish makeup and beauty blogger

I have a few foundations in rotation, but I think out of them all, I have been reaching for the L’Oreal Infallible 24HR Matte Foundation the most.

I know I say it in probably every post, but I have oily skin, so this type of foundation should really tick all of the boxes for me. L’Oreal say it has a medium texture, high coverage and shine control. I don’t know about shine control because I always powder my foundation. It does set to a matte finish though and the other two I can somewhat agree with. I have seen the L’Oreal Infallible 24HR Matte Foundation being compared to the Estee Lauder Doublewear online, and I can kind of get it. Although, I think it has a lighter consistency than Doublewear and it has a lighter finish on the skin. Sure, I let you have a look for yourself 🙂 I use the shade 11 Vanilla and it’s a pretty good match for my  Mac NC20 skin tone.

Here is my skin with just primer on it.

Then, here is one layer of the L’Oreal Infallible 24HR Foundation, buffed in with a Real Techniques Buffing Brush brush. I apply it with the nozzle of the tube onto my face.

irish beauty bloggertop irish beauty blogOn my skin, one layer gives medium coverage. It covers any light imperfections and somewhat blurs pores.

I like to add another light layer to my problem areas though…which is kind of all over, not gonna lie. 🙂

top irish beauty bloggerirish makeup and beauty blogThe L’Oreal Infallible 24HR Mattifying Foundation, is actually really easy to layer. It doesn’t cake up on my skin, or look too dry or heavy. Although it has really good coverage and covers what I want it to cover, it doesn’t mask my skin either. I think this is a very rare thing for a matte, good coverage foundation.

It doesn’t oxidize or separate throughout the day. I will get shiny and have to powder my t zone, but nothing major, and the shine won’t kick in until about the 4th or so hour of wear. For me, that’s pretty good so I’m not complaining.

If you have normal skin or even a little combination (how lucky are you) and enjoy a more matte finish to your foundation without adding powder, I think the LOreal Infallible 24 HR Mattifying Foundation could work for you too.

In the words of Baby’s father to Johnny Castle, ‘When I’m wrong, I say I’m wrong’, this is definitely one of those instances for me 🙂

You can pick up the L’Oreal Infallible 24HR Mattifying Foundation instore from Boots or online here. It will set you back 12.29.

I haven’t done monthly favourites since having my previous blog, so it’s literally been years now. But I thought I would try get back into it again and give you some of my March Favourites in video form.

irish beauty blogYou can watch my March Favourites on beautynook here by just clicking on the video above or you can head on over to my youtube channel here  and if you like it be sure to subscribe sure 🙂

I don’t have many things that I properly loved for the month of March and I also didn’t go into much detail of the items. I just wanted to try my hand at a chatty style video, I hope that’s ok?

If you want to see the palette in action, I used it in my last Get Ready With Me Video here  (I used the lippie in that video too), and I have a full blogpost on the palette here aswell.

I reviewed the foundation also a while back here, but as you can see from the video, my thoughts on it have kind of changed, I’m a tad more fond of it now 🙂

You can buy the fragrance from Brown Thomas here, if you’re curious.

And if you’re looking to sing along to some 90’s R n’b hits like myself, just search 90’s R n’ b over on Spotify…it’s so worth it, I promise 🙂

Thanks so much for watching (and reading of course). I’ll hopefully try to do these every month if you like them. So, be sure to let me know if you’re into monthly favourites, or what kind of videos you actually do like watching. All constructive feedback is very welcome, I’m still very new to the Youtube media 🙂

Happy April, hope it’s a brilliant one for you. Roll on the warmer weather!

I bought the L’Oreal Infallible Fixing Mist because it was new and you don’t see many of the ‘drugstore’ brands doing these types of makeup setting sprays, at least at the moment.

loreal infallible fixing mist

I did buy Penneys Makeup Setting Spray a while a go and can’t say I got along too well with it, maybe I am just too oily I don’t know but it doesn’t hold my makeup…and stings a little on application too which is a bit off putting.

Alot of the makeup setting sprays do have alcohol as probably their main ingredient (other than water) so if you have sensitive, be conscious of that fact. My skin rarely has reactions to things, so I don’t be too bothered taking one for the team 🙂

L’Oreal say their Infallible Fixing Mist is anti-fade, anti-melt and anti-crack. That it gives a longlasting finish and extends the just applied makeup look. They are some pretty big claims, right?

I’ve been using the L’Oreal Infallible Fixing Mist everyday for a good month now and I have really oily skin, so I think I can give it an honest and well rounded opinion now.

Firstly, I like that the bottle is clear, you can see how much of the product you are using. You can also see that there is a white layer on the top of the liquid (I am assuming that is the presence of silica, I could be mistaken though). So, before every use you need to shake up the L’Oreal Infallible Fixing Mist really well. You need to do this with the majority of setting sprays so that’s not a big deal. The spray is pretty fine, but does come out of the nozzle quickly, it can give you a fright in the mornings 🙂

irish beauty blogger

When I started using the Fixing Mist first, I just applied it after all of my makeup was done. I closed my eyes and sprayed in an x formation across my face a couple of times. The liquid has a nice subtle scent to it and it doesn’t sting or feel tight and uncomfortable, in fact it feel quite nice and refreshing. I did notice that it took a little longer for the shine start to show around my t-zone which was great.

irish beauty blogHowever, you can use the L’Oreal Infallible Fixing Mist before you apply your makeup and during the process. So, I started using it after I had applied foundation and concealer too. This for me, really made a difference. Using the mist twice on my skin really helps with keeping the natural oils from coming through my makeup.

I am no stranger to setting sprays. I have used more pricey ones from Urban Decay, Skindinavia and Mac. I can honestly say the L’Oreal Infallible Fixing Mist does the same job as it’s more expensive counterparts.  Like them, It helps your makeup last longer, and if you have been heavy handed with the powder like I always am, it takes away the chalky look from your skin.

Overall, I am a fan of the L’oreal Infallible Fixing Mist. It does the job well 🙂 You can pick it up from Boots in store or online here and it will set you back €10.49 for a 100ml bottle.

First off, doesn’t the name L’Oreal Infallible Mega Gloss Matte just confuse the bejesus out of you? It’s clever though because it made me buy a couple of them when I was browsing Boots a couple of weeks ago 🙂

L'Oreal Infallible Mega Gloss Matte

The L’Oreal Infallible Mega Gloss Matte do come in shiny gloss form too, so maybe that’s why they kept the name. They come in the same packaging as the ‘matte’ version, just in a whole host of other colours. There wasn’t as many colour choices for the mattes, so I only picked up two of the shades that I thought I would actually get use out of and wear.

irish makeup and beauty blog

The texture of the L’Oreal Infallible Mega Gloss Matte, to me is neither a gloss or a matte. I think they have a satin finish. You can however blot off the shiny layer if you choose and are left with a more matte appearance. This kind of gives us the best of both worlds. They are really pigmented and have the familiar sweet smell that alot of the L’Oreal lippies have. They have a sponge applicator that is curved in the middle and tapered at the tip, which is surprisingly handy for application. It kind of sits on your lip and you can let the applicator do the work.

The first shade I picked up is 405 ‘The Bigger The Better’.

top irish beauty bloggertop irish beauty blogIt’s a bright pink shade. Here it is swatched applied normally to the lips.

The second shade I got is 407 ‘Smoke Me Up’.

Here it is normally applied.

Overall, I am digging the L’Oreal Infallible Mega Gloss Matte. As they are more of a creamy finish, they do move around. You will have transfer and you will have to reapply after eating or drinking if you want to keep the full effects of the colour. However, after wear they do leave behind a lovely coloured stain on the lips, so you’re not left without pigment completely. They feel soft and comfortable on the lips and not at all sticky.

You can pick them up in store in Boots or online here. It’s a bit annoying on the Boots website, because it seems they have the gloss and mattes in the one grouping, so make sure you know what shade you want before purchasing online. They will set you back €7.79 and are on 3 for 2 at the minute.

Be sure to let me know what you think 🙂
