This is my honest everyday Summer Makeup look! I tried to keep it as real as possible and just edited out my ‘ums’ and any long winded techniques. My brows take forever 🙂
It’s nothing fancy or ground breaking, but this is generally what I do on a daily basis if I’m wearing makeup. The eye look might change a bit if I’m feeling fancier or lazier. The lip colour might change if I’m feeling a bold or bright lip, but the base tends to not really. I’ve found what works for my skin in the heat, so I don’t want to jinx it too much if I’m going out and about. If I know I’m staying close to home, then I can experiment and trial new products 🙂
It all depends on what you feel most comfortable with. For me, brows and a bit of eyeshadow definition is a must. Eyeliner is not necessary so it’s not something I do day to day. Once I have a wash of colour on my lids I am happy enough. The main components of my everyday Summer makeup look, I’ve spoken about a lot before. I think this is an important aspect of this video though. You know I like these products and above all, you know I trust them.
I won’t get into everything, but some of the main products I used are in my June Favourites here. I have a review the Urban Decay Primer here, and of both the foundations I used here and here. Mac Springsheen blush has been a favourite for literally years and the highlighter from Pixi is a new, but very loved favourite.

It is not often I get lip products through the door and want to put on every shade straight away. I received the new Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink Lip Colours last week.
I want to try them all out so I thought I would do it in blogpost form. This is definitely not a review. Although I have been wearing the mauve shade (surprise, surprise), from the bunch the last few days and have been really enjoying it.
It feels weird because my last post here was from the same brand. Not on purpose I promise I just really wanted to swatch these 🙂
My first impressions of the Maybelline Superstay Matte Lip Colours are, they are super easy to apply, really pigmented and I like the tear drop applicator. The tapered end makes applying them really easy. They dry down matte, which of course isn’t the most comfortable of lip formulas. But saying that this doesn’t seem to be the worst. And from wearing the shade ‘Lover’ over the past few days, I didn’t get any balling or patchiness. The formula does feel tacky on the lips though, even when it dries. Upon swatching all the colours for this blogpost, I can say they are a bitch to get off too. They require a decent amount of vigor and makeup remover. From a liquid lipstick perspective, in my book, that’s a good thing 🙂 I used an oil based eye makeup remover to remove the swatches, it worked really well. They smell of sweet vanilla so that is something to be mindful of, but once the formula is dry on the lips, it seems to dissipate.

I have five of the most wearable shades to swatch here. Nothing ground breaking colour wise here. They do have some purples and nudes in the collection as well.
First up, there’s 15 Lover. This is the shade I gravitated towards first. My everyday go to lip colour is mauve. And I am loving this!
Next up we have 30 Romantic. A hot pink.
25 Heroine is a bright orange.
Then I have 20 Pioneer a cherry red.
And then finally, 50 Voyager, a burgundy red.
After swatching all five of the Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink Lip Colours I have. I can honestly say I will hand on heart wear all five of them in everyday life. Not just for Instagram 🙂
The formula although matte goes on really smoothly and easily. It doesn’t catch onto any dryness you might have. Although, I would always say be liberal with the lip balm before applying any matte formula.

Maybelline, as a brand for me can be very much hit or miss. I am not always a fan of the releases, so some of the products end up in bags for friends or for charity. Obviously, if I hate something enough I will tell you why and if I love it I will shout it from the rooftops too! But if something is just ‘meh’, it doesn’t always get a second look.
I have some of the new Maybelline Summer releases and I thought I would put them altogether and do a makeup look with the goodies I own. Some are PR samples, some I bought myself. Nothing majorly fancy or groundbreaking. But, it just means you get to see some of them in action on my chubby little face , and I get to give initial impressions 🙂

I think my stand out favourites are the loose powder and the concealers. The Colossal mascara is pretty damn good too though!

It’s that time of the week. Time for a new video from yours truly 🙂 This one is about my top five ride or die makeup products. As you probably would have guessed from the title 🙂
Look I even made a picture with writing on it! That’s when you know I mean business 🙂 For a minute in this video, I nearly thought I came up with this concept. What a twat I am. It took my brain a minute to catch up but then I remembered it was the lovely Jaclyn Hill who created the ride or die makeup tag, duh!
And me looking all smug and the likes.
Anyways onto the products!
The Mac Cosmetics Full Coverage Foundation in NC20. I usually get mine from Brown Thomas in store. After looking on the Brown Thomas website I can’t seem to find it! Hopefully they’ve just changed the name and the packaging to Prolongwear, which is on the website here. I hope and pray it’s not discontinued because I’m running low 🙁
Number two is the L’Oreal Infallible 24 Hr Matte Foundation. I won’t go into too much detail about this because I have a full blogpost on it here.
My third choices were two I know, I’m a cheater and a half! The Fairydrops Scandal Queen Waterproof Mascara. I have a full review here. And, the Catrice Glam & Doll Waterproof mascara, Also, full blogpost here. I just realised they changed the name of this since I got my first tube!
My fourth choice the Bourjois Rouge Velvet Edition in the shade ‘Ping Pong’. You can pick these up from Boots instore and online here, or from Cloud10beauty here.
Then finally my last ride or die makeup product was goat hair blending brushes. The ones I mention are the Debs from Nima, you can buy it here, the Blank Canvas E26 available here and the old school Mac 217 which you can pick up here.

I was in looking for new releases in Boots recently and these caught my eye. They are the Maybelline Color Drama Intense Lip Paints.
The packaging reminded me of the lip paints Sleek had out a few years ago which I loved. Or like the Too Faced Melted lipsticks which I never tried but I know people had mixed feelings about them. Again, like the L’Orèal True Match Highlight which I spoke about last week here. The Maybelline Color Drama Intense Lip Paints are something I can’t get much information about online. The States are calling them Color Jolts and have had them for a while now. If you do want to see some extra info or swatches. But, I thought I would throw my Irish two cents in, just in case too 🙂
We have five shades to choose from in the range. I picked up two of them to try because they were on buy one get on half off.
They have an angled sponge tipped applicator and the product comes out of the middle. Feels nice to apply with, but it will get a bit messy after a few uses.
I went with 110 ‘Never Bare’ which is a nude pale pink colour. They also have a brown nude in the collection.
This one is 120 ‘Fight Me Fuchsia’. I chose this because for some reason this type of hot pink always draws me in. I don’t know why 🙂
Here they are swatched side by side on my arm to give you an idea of the difference and the opaqueness of the colour.
The Maybelline Color Drama Intense Lip Paints are to me a creamy pigmented gloss. They apply nicely and don’t feel sticky or uncomfortable on the lips. They also smell like watermelon which I quite like. But, if you are not into strong scents, that could be a deal breaker for you. As they are a gloss they do move. But, the pigment does stain, so when the gloss fades, you do have some residual colour left over.
The Maybelline Color Drama Intense Lip Paints are in Boots stores at the moment but haven’t popped up on the Irish website just yet. They are priced at €7.49. You can check out the other selection of colours on the UK website here though.

I was very kindly invited to the very beautiful Galgorm Resort & Spa a few weeks ago. If you follow me on social media, you would have seen myself and John being treated like royalty to celebrate their Wellness Day and their new extended facilities.
We were blown away the minute we stepped out of the car in all honesty. The grounds of Galgorm Resort & Spa are so beautiful, our candid snaps do not do it much justice.
Galgorm cater for weddings and big occasions too, so they have two Rolls Royce casually parked on the grounds for when they are needed. There was actually a wedding on that day so one was away on duty 🙂

There was a small group of us including press and bloggers, so we partook in the Wellness Party Package. Here’s a link to it on the website. I’m just going to include all the pics I took to give you a bit of an insight. We did spend alot of the day in the water so I couldn’t bring the camera too close, but it might give you an idea of what to expect.
The spa uses products from both Aromatherapy Associates and Voya.
The Galgorm Resort & Spa Thermal Village contains an Orangery, the Celtic Sauna, a snow cabin, a Sanarium, snail showers, waterbeds, and an indoor pool. Then, the River House is situated in the middle of it all where the private treatments take place.
We did some exercise to begin with and then went and experienced the Celtic sauna Ritual, which was like nothing I have ever done before. I’ll quote Galgorm here if that’s ok to describe 🙂 ‘Originating in Finland and now practised world-wide this is Galgorm’s unique presentation on the Aufguss sauna ritual. Your Sauna Master will guide through this meditative experience where a ritual with towels is used to agitate the air, lessening the intensity of the heat and allowing you to breathe in the essential oils infused into the air. You will complete the ritual with a meditation session in the River House followed by rejuvenation and refreshment in the Orangery where you can float away into a state of utter relaxation.’
After lunch, it was time for our spa treatments. I opted for a back and shoulder massage, that made me feel like bubble wrap. All my knots and tension was taken care of. John opted for a eye treatment and was so relaxed he actually fell asleep on the bed 🙂
And then, we just spent the rest of the day in the sauna, pool and hot tub hopping. Not a bad way to spend a Sunday afternoon, right?
Our room for the night was one of the newly built deluxe room that overlook the Thermal Village. This was our view for the evening.
Because we were so darn relaxed, we forgot to take some pictures of the room before we messed it all up. Here’s some from the next day, but you get the gist 🙂 All the formal info of their deluxe rooms is here.
The bed felt like a king size marshmallow and I wanted to bring the light up mirror in the bathroom home, not going to lie 🙂
The room comes with a complimentary mini bar which is a really nice added extra. It has some snacks and drinks, and includes Galgorm’s very own craft beer. This can only be gotten in the resort. John being the beer connoisseur that he is, really enjoyed it.
In the evening we were treated to a really tasty meal in the on site Italian restaurant Fratelli’s.
After undoing all the wellness of the day with lots of delicious grub, we ended the night in the Gin Bar. A gin lovers paradise.
The next morning, we had breakfast before we left, which was a sit down affair with a buffet full of fruit and pastries and then whatever you want from the menu. It was the perfect way to end a beautiful and relaxing break at Galgorm.
We ended our stay in Northern Ireland with a trip to the Giant’s Causeway. The weather was pretty miserable, but it’s such a beautiful part of the country, so it was worth it 🙂
Overall, our experience in Galgorm Spa & Resort was an amazing one. Neither myself or John had ever been on a spa break and after this, we’re already planning our next one.
If you are looking for somewhere to go as a treat to unwind and relax, I would hand on hear recommend it.
