This is not a dig at any of the brands that created these eyeshadow palettes. In fact I don’t really think overall, it’s really a dig at the eyeshadow palettes themselves. It’s just me explaining why I don’t reach for them, and why they don’t seem to work for me.

Eyeshadow Palettes I don't reach for

I might get a bitchy in between, but that tends to happen when you’re on a roll, right? πŸ™‚ I have a bucket load of eyeshadow palettes. Makeup is my favourite pass time. There’s always going to be times I spend my money, or get something in a pr package that just doesn’t float my boat though.

irish beauty blog

There’s times also where you think you’re going to love a product, and then it just doesn’t get utilised. And that’s fine, it’s the look of the draw. Beauty products are being released constantly, it’s so easy to get caught up in the new shiny things on offer.

eyeshadow palettes I don't reach for

I’ve mentioned, I think all of these eyeshadow palettes in one form or another here on Beautynook or on my Instagram page. Some of them I loved initially, some I wanted because of the hype and some were bought on a whim. There is no reason to my thought process. And by the end of the video, I talked myself into trying to use at least one of them again, just because I don’t think it got a fair trial.

There is five palettes in total:

All the brands listed I enjoy and use a lot! I don’t think you can love everything a brand brings out. As I say in the video too though this is just my opinions and thoughts. We are all different. When it comes to reading reviews on products, never just read one. It’s always good to get different views and thought processes. Do you have and love any of these? Let me know.

It’s that time of the week. Time for a new video from yours truly πŸ™‚ This one is about my top five ride or die makeup products. As you probably would have guessed from the title πŸ™‚

ride or die makeup products

Look I even made a picture with writing on it! That’s when you know I mean business πŸ™‚ For a minute in this video, I nearly thought I came up with this concept. What a twat I am. It took my brain a minute to catch up but then I remembered it was the lovely Jaclyn Hill who created the ride or die makeup tag, duh!

And me looking all smug and the likes.

Anyways onto the products!

  1. The Mac Cosmetics Full Coverage Foundation in NC20. I usually get mine from Brown Thomas in store. After looking on the Brown Thomas website I can’t seem to find it! Hopefully they’ve just changed the name and the packaging to Prolongwear, which is on the website here. I hope and pray it’s not discontinued because I’m running low πŸ™
  2. Number two is the L’Oreal Infallible 24 Hr Matte Foundation. I won’t go into too much detail about this because I have a full blogpost on it here.
  3. My third choices were two I know, I’m a cheater and a half! The Fairydrops Scandal Queen Waterproof Mascara. I have a full review here. And, the Catrice Glam & Doll Waterproof mascara, Also, full blogpost here. I just realised they changed the name of this since I got my first tube!
  4. My fourth choice the Bourjois Rouge Velvet Edition in the shade ‘Ping Pong’. You can pick these up from Boots instore and online here, or from Cloud10beauty here.

Another month another bundle of random products and things. Yep, it’s time for my August favourites for 2016 πŸ™‚ Summer is just about to come to an end. I am completely ok with Autumn coming, Winter is another story though…bleh!

irish beauty blog beautynook

Anyways…my August Favourites bring a random array of goodies your way. If you are an eagle eyes reader you may notice that there is a makeup brush in my hand in the cover photo. First off well done for noticing πŸ™‚ And also it’s nearly become a tradition for me now to lose chunks of footage from my monthly favourites videos and the brush clip was the unlucky one that just disappeared off of my camera. But, it’s a dual ended blending brush from Blank Canvas Cosmetics with the E26 on one end and the E25 on the other. It’s on their website here and I really like it, it’s so handy!

The rest of my favourites look a bit like this.

August Favourites

I have a video about the Garnier Micellar Oil infused Cleansing Water here too.

The Guns n Roses T-shirt is from the men’s department in H&M. I found it on the website here. It’s actually €14.99, I got my pricing wrong, apologies.

Myself and John are on a little break away in Wexford. We’re in Duncannon and honestly it’s one of the prettiest places I have ever been in my life. The scenery is breathtaking! One of the days we thought we would head out for a bit of lunch and a wander so I thought I would turn the camera on and take you through my Ten Minute Makeup Look.

ten minute makeup look irish beauty blog

I would describe this as quick, simple ten minute makeup look with a bit of added extra effort. I didn’t want it to take too long, but I still wanted to look put together.

I managed to nab a Becca Jaclyn Hill Champagne Collection Face Palette. Phew, that’s a mouthful, right? πŸ™‚

Becca Jaclyn Hill Champagne Collection Face Palette
I went in to Space NK Grafton Street just to have a look and ask about them as they had had a shipment the week before. Low and behold the lovely ladies told me they were getting another shipment in the next day and I could put my name down if I was certain I could be in to collect in that very day. And so, I did just that πŸ™‚

Completely spur of the moment really, the Becca Jaclyn Hill Champagne Collection Face Palette became mine.

Becca Jaclyn Hill Champagne Collection Face Palette

If you don’t know already, Jaclyn Hill is a very successful American beauty You-tuber. She had previously collaborated with Becca Cosmetics and that was when Champagne Pop was born. (I have a full review of it here). The collection has now grown and includes: Champagne Splits which are a blush and highlighter combo. Liquid and cream Champagne Pop shimmering skin perfectors. There was also an eye-shadow palette that Becca controversially had to take off of the market because of quality issues and of course finally what I am showing you now, the Becca Jaclyn Hill Champagne Collection Face Palette.

Becca Cosmetics

I really love the gold and white packaging of the palette. It is smooth to the touch, is a little weighty so feels nice in your hands and contains a large mirror in the lid, which is always appreciated.

It contains 5 powders in total. 3 blushes and 2 shimmering skin perfectors i.e highlighters.

Becca Cosmetics Ireland

We have Rosè Spritz which is deemed a luminous blush.

Amaretto – A mineral blush.

Pamplemousse – This is also a mineral blush.

Then we have the highlighter that started it all Champagne Pop.

And then finally, Prosecco Pop.

Here are all the powders swatched together just so you can get a sense of the colour differences and finishes.

Without the flash on

All of the powders are as you would expect from Becca super soft and pigmented. They swatched really nicely onto the skin. The blushes are a good mix of colours and finishes.Β  I use Champagne Pop alot already even though I think it might be a little too deep for my skin tone, I don’t care, I love it πŸ™‚ I am foreseeing I might have the same problem with Prosecco Pop, it is very golden. But, it’s very pretty so I’ll make it work πŸ™‚ I think it will make for a lovely eye shadow too.

The Becca Jaclyn Hill Champagne Collection Face Palette retails in Ireland for €54 from Space NK if you can get your hands on it. They do have it on the UK website here though if you want to get it shipped and it costs Β£48.

So, let me know what you think? πŸ™‚

I already harped on about my go to highlighter, the Balm’s Mary-Lou Manizer not too long ago here. And then I get my greedy little mitts on this.

The Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in the Shade ‘Champagne Pop’.

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Champagne Pop‘Champagne Pop’ is in collaboration with American YouTuber Jaclyn Hill. If you are a YouTube makeup tutorial fan, you already know who Jaclyn Hill is, but if not, she is a Florida based makeup artist turned YouTube makeup guru with millions of people subscribed and watching her makeup tutorials here, including little old me πŸ™‚

We have Becca here in Ireland. Spacenk sell it as well as Mise Beauty. It’s a gorgeous makeup brand that originated in Australia. They already have some beautiful skin perfectors in their collection i.e highlighters, but ‘Champagne Pop’ is the newest one on the block. Unfortunately for us it is a Sephora exclusive, so all us Irish fans had to beg steal and borrow to be the proud owners πŸ™‚

‘Champagne Pop’ is a powder highlight with a peach/champagne tone to it.

Champagne Pop Review

I’ve never owned a Becca Skin Perfector, and now after owning this, I want them all. It glides onto the skin beautifully and is pigmented from the first swipe.

Irish Beauty BlogBut obviously you can build it up to whatever intensity you desire.

It’s gives such a pretty glow to the skin. It shines rather than sparkles if that makes sense? And I love it for this. The peachy shade works on Mac NC20 pale skin, and I have seen others using it with lighter and darker skin tones online and it works just as well.

I apply it with something like this little duo fibre brush from Nima

beauty blog review champagne popI dip it in lightly.

irish beauty blog beautynookThen apply a couple of light layers to the tops of my cheeks. I’m not going to call them cheekbones because my cheeks are way to chubby for that πŸ™‚

irish makeup and beauty blogIt leaves you with a lovely champagne shine to your skin as you can see.

champagne pop swatch

irishbeautyblogLike Mary-Lou, as well as being an absolutely beautiful highlight on the face, Champagne Pop applies just as lovely on the eyes either on the lids as a peachy pop or in the inner tear ducts to open up the eyes. I use a Nima concealer brush for this or a pencil brush.

I like to apply a little on my cupids bow too if I’m feeling really fancy πŸ™‚

beautynook beauty blogMy skin has a tendency to ‘eat up makeup’. It just soaks in and begins to disappear after a while. I find that ‘Champagne Pop’ does stay put well on me. And even at the end of the day when the oils are after coming through on my skin (shine in the wrong places) I can still see highlighter on my cheeks. For me, this is rare. Mary-Lou Manizer and Champagne Pop have been the only highlighter I have ever owned to stand the test of time on my oily skin.

I can’t really say anything bad about this product except I wish it was easier to get hold of. There has been talk online though about Champagne Pop coming to Europe though, so if it does, run out and buy it, you won’t be disappointed πŸ™‚

I got Champagne Pop direct from Sephora and it cost $38. It is now part of the Becca permanent line and you can buy in Spacenk and on their website.
