Makeup Revolution have teamed up with Jane Cunningham aka BritishBeautyBlogger to bring us their ‘Fortune Favours The Brave Eyeshadow Palette.

irish beauty blogirish bloggerMakeup Revolution Fortune Favours The Brave

Jane description of it on her website:

‘So, at last – the project that I’ve been working on with Makeup Revolution is finally ready for scrutiny. It’s a 30 pan palette, with hopefully something for everyone. At the back of my mind though has always been to create a palette that uncovers a grown-up play element of makeup no matter what your age or tone – an ‘every woman’ palette. If you thought you couldn’t do a smoky eye at fifty or whatever age, yes you can, because if I can, anyone can.’

The palette itself contains a good mixture of satins, shimmers and mattes. There is 30 eyeshadows in the Fortune Favours The Brave palette in total, which I think is a pretty damn good amount considering the price point.

makeup revolution irelandA silly little thing perhaps, but something that I think is important is the shades are all named. For me, this just makes things handier if I am describing what I am using or what shadows are my favourite etc.

irish beauty blogThe palette does come with a double ended brush.

irish beauty websiteNot the worst tool I have ever received in a palette, but If I am being honest, this is probably going to get thrown in the bin.

So, onto the swatching 🙂

The top 15:

The Makeup Revolution ‘Fortune Favours The Brave Palette’ has alot going on and I love it for that! It gives you so many colour options and combinations. Overall, the eyeshadows are soft and pigmented, there are a few that don’t pack as much of a punch but I think that  happens alot in a palette with so many different finishes.

With the influx of eyeshadow palettes on the market at the minute, I say well done to Makeup Revolution and of course to Jane for making something interesting and for the masses. I think there’s a shade in here for everyone. I love forward to applying it on my eyes now rather then my arm 🙂

You can pick up the Makeup Revolution ‘Fortune Favours The Brave’ Eyeshadow Palette directly from the Makeup Revolution website here. It will set you back £9.99 (GBP).

MS Ireland are running a campaign in the month of February called Kiss Goodbye To MS. It’s to help raise money for research and to support all the people living with MS in Ireland. What a fabulous cause!

A red lip (or anything red really) plays into the campaign and I was asked to share a red lip selfie with the #kissgoodbyetoms to raise awarness for it. As well as the important part, texting ‘Smooch’ to 50300 to donate €4 to the campaign. So, get your red lippie on and get involved. It’s for charity 🙂

Here’s the look I created for my selfie. I went with a subtle gold eye using the Sleek ‘A New Day’ palette (which I have a full break down of here). And, then a glossy red Rimmel lip.

First, I used two matte brown shades from the palette mixed together and used them to softly define the crease of my eyes with a fluffy brush after prepping my lids with primer and loose powder.

irishbeautyblogirish beauty blogirish beauty bloggerFor my lid, I took the yellow gold from the Sleek palette.

sleek a new day paletteTo make the colour a little more opaque, I dampened my brush with some Serozinc.

la roche posay serozincI patted this colour all over my eyelid.

irish beauty blogbeauty blog irelandTo deepen the crease and outer corner, I took the darkest matte brown in the palette and applied it to the outer corner of my eyes and swiped in slightly in to the crease with a tapered brush.beauty blogger irelandtop irish beauty blogirish makeup and beauty blogI’ll always highlight the brow bone just to clean up any harsh lines and cover any imperfections up there too. I used the lightest shade in the Sleek palette, it has a bit of shimmer but nothing to intense.

irish makeup and beauty bloggermakeu and beauty blog irelandmakeup and beauty blogger irelandTo add a bit of definition, I took the Sleek brown Eau La La Liner and applied it to the lash line.

I applied some loose powder over my lips after finishing the rest of my makeup, just to get rid of any excess foundation and lip balm.

Sleek Makeup products have donned my makeup collection before we could even get our mitts on them easily here in Ireland. I am a big fan so it’s great to see the brand in so many pharmacies around the country now.

I am predicting their newest Sleek Makeup iDivine eyeshadow palette called ‘A New Day’ is going to be a resounding hit if I base it on all of you lovely people asking about in on social media 🙂

irish beauty blogI have it in my possession less than a week and I committed a beauty blogging cardinal sin…I used it before taking pictures on my DSLR camera, the shame, oh the shame. I just couldn’t wait to dig in though, so will you forgive me? Ok now that confession is out of the way lets dig into the important bit, the swatching 🙂

As with all iDivine eyeshadow palettes from Sleek Makeup, there are 12 eyeshadows within.

sleek makeup irelandThere is a great mix of mattes, shimmers and satin finish shadows, which is really appreciated. It means you don’t have to go from palette to palette when you’re creating a look. Handy for travelling too. I always use an eyeshadow primer. I have oily lids so it’s a complete necessity for me. With a primer added though the Sleek Shadows tend to stay put on me really well.

I’ve swatched them left right:

‘Sun is Shining’.

irish makeup bloggerHow cute are the names by the way? All positive connotations. Love it 🙂

The Sleek Makeup ‘A New Day’ palette will be available nationwide in stores from the 8th next Monday onwards. Just in time for Valentine’s Day, if you’re that way inclined 🙂 And of course you can buy Sleek online too here from Boots and Cloud10Beauty here

The Sleek iDivine Palettes usually cost €9.99 not a bad price point at all!

Will it be on your shopping list?

If you follow me on social media, you’ll know instead of giving big gifts this year myself and my family went to Spain for the week of Christmas. We had a really great time. The weather was so good to us and we spent most of Christmas day in the ocean, so I ain’t complaining 🙂 I did by myself some goodies  throughout the week though so I thought I would compile them into a holiday haul if you fancy a rummage.

Time ran away with me in the airport and I was gutted I didn’t get to shop in the Loop, I’ll just have to be sure I make up for it next time I fly.

We went to Lanzarote which is a tax free Canary Island. There’s not a whole load to be buying there, it’s a very holiday orientated town, so lots of tourist shops and the likes. Perfume is a good chunk cheaper there though, so I made sure to stock up on a few.

Don’t laugh, but I bought Britney Spears Fantasy.

irish beauty blogBritney Spears FantasyThis is the only celebrity perfume that I’ve ever really bothered with throughout the years. It smells like sweets, I was feeling nostalgic and it was only €15 🙂

My brother and John (the other half) know I love Lady Million from Paco Rabanne, so I got a couple of bottles to keep me going ha!

lady million paco rabanneI bought another nostalgic perfume for myself. I use to wear this so much when I was younger. It’s Gucci Rush.

irishbeautybloggucci rush 2Luckily it was cheap, because I think I’ve grown out of the scent now…typical.

My fanciest pressie to myself was a bottle of Tom Ford Velvet Orchid. Well in Dublin this would be the fanciest, this set me back less than 40 euro over there which I don’t think is bad at all.

irish beauty blogtom ford velvet orchidThis is a cologne. And it would be classed as a unisex fragrance. John has Black Orchid, and I adore it, Velvet Orchid would be a ever so slightly sweeter version in my opinion, but still a very musky night time fragrance.

Of course there’s a big Zara where we were, it’s a Spanish company, so I had to have a look. I ended up only picking up two things. A dark green faux leather over the shoulder handbag, with gold hardware. Very Chloe-esque I thought?

zara green bagAnd a long sleeved wool jumper of all things! I couldn’t leave this behind though 🙂

zara jumper #instamood From one of the little boutique shops on the strip, I bought this really cute delicate rose gold plated bracelet.

christmas holidau haul

If you’ve been to Lanzarote, you will know they have a stand alone Flormar store there, which is pretty cool. The brand has just been reintroduced here in Ireland, so I had to take a look and pick up a few bits. On a side note, they had different more seasonal products within the store, but the price point was the same as Ireland.

flormar irelandI got their Matte Velvet Mattifying Foundation. This is in Vanilla, but it’s a good bit darker than my skin tone (my fault), so I’ll have to keep it for when I have tan on.

irish makeup and beauty blogI got one of their nail polishes, this colour is just unusual and caught my eye. it has a duochrome effect.

irish makeup and beauty bloggerflormar irish beauty blogI get searches everyday here on beautynook for the Flormar Lip Primer, so I had to pick one up and give it a try.

flormar lip primerI bought one of their eye primers too.

makeup and beauty blog irelandflormar eye primerI liked this one because it has a concealing effect on the eyelid, so it will cover imperfections.

beauty blogger irelandThis eyeshadow stick was from their Christmas collection and I just thought the colour was so pretty. The formula is really nice too.

This twist up lipstick in the colour raspberry and I have 20 lippies in the same colour but I couldn’t resist. Love the packaging too.

top irish beauty blogbeauty blog irelandbeauty blogger irelandThe last thing I bought was a baked eyeshadow which they call a Diamonds Terracotta Eyeshadow.

beauty blogmakeup and beauty blog

Upon swatching it, I see it as more of glitter to apply over other shadows to add a bit of sparkle. I’d like to mix it with a bit of Inglot’s Duraline too and see what happens (I have a review of Duraline here 🙂

makeup haul ireland

I bought a couple of random things on the strip too which we can get here easily, but sure I was on a spending roll so I just kept going 🙂

catrice makeup irelandI had just run out of primer so I thought I would give the Catrice Prime and Fine one a trial.

catrice irish beauty blogI also got a Catrice Beautyifying Lip Smoother. This is really similar to the Clarins Lip Perfector and a quarter of the price. There’s a few shades to choose from too.

Catrice Beautifying Lip Smoother

catrice makeup irelandThe one I picked up is in the shade Coffee To Go.

I got a couple of Essence Longlasting Lipliners in the same place. The formula of these is actually pretty great!

essence makeup ireland lip linersThe pink shade is called Sweetheart and the peachy one is called Peach Beauty.

The last thing I got is from a brand I’ve never used before. This is the Palladio Crushed Metallic Eyeshadow.

palladio crushed metal eyeshadow irelandirish makep blogmakeup blog irelandI swatched all the colours of these and I really regret now not picking up more, but I settled on this burnt bronze colour in Eclipse.

palaThere you have it, my holiday haul. All of the goodies I crammed into my suitcase and brought home to Ireland 🙂

Hope you had a brilliant Christmas (and new year). Hope 2016 is the most exciting year yet 🙂

Sleek are such an awesome affordable brand. They do so many great eyeshadow palettes (amongst other things of course). The colour range and the choice of finishes are really second to none within the more ‘drugstore market’.

Today’s really easy (remember I’m not a makeup artist) look is courtesy of the Sleek Vintage Romance Palette. You can pick it up from Boots here.

Sleek Vintage Vamp Palette

I think this would make a great Christmas party makeup. The Vintage Romance palette offers great shades for bit of shimmer and a bit of smoke. This look would work well on a more hooded eye shape too as the concentration of colour is on the lash line.

Irish beauty blog beautynook (30)

I started out as always by priming my lids and adding a matte skin colour shadow over top.

I took some of the shade ‘Propose in Prague’, the only matte shade in the Vintage Romance Palette.

irish beauty blog

I applied a wash of this with a blending brush into my crease, just to add a little definition and give the lid colour something to blend into.

irish beauty bloggerirish beauty blog beautynook

I then used the colour ‘Lust In LA’, which is a shimmery taupe.

beauty blogger beautynookI patted this with a flat shader brush all over my lid.

irishbeautyblogirishbeautyblog beautynook

Then with a clean blending brush just did some window wiper motions to blend it into the crease colour 🙂

irish makeup and beauty blog

To smoke things up a little, I took some ‘Forever In Florence’. a dark purple shimmer.

irish makeup and beauty blogger

I patted this quite thickly along my lash line.

irish makeup and beauty blog beautynookirish makeup and beauty blogger beautynook

This colour comes out much more purple over the ‘Lust In LA’ shade and I wanted it a little darker, so did the same thing again with the darkest shade in the palette ‘Love In London’.

top irish beauty blog vintage romance paletteI used a small more precise brush and kept the colour more to the lash line so ‘Forever In Florence’ is still visible.

top irish beauty bloggertop irish beauty blog beautynooktop irish beauty blogger beautynookIf you lose some colour intensity you can just go back in and apply more of the colour.

I added some lashes and a slick of liquid liner to the band, totally optional of course, you can just do mascara by all means.

irish beauty blog

For the lower lash line I went a bit colourful, you can of course just add the darkest shade to smoke things out more and or just leave bare and add some mascara.

On the outer half of my eye, I used the true purple shade in the palette ‘Bliss In Barcelona’.

makeup blogger vintage romancemakeup blog

Then to brighten things up a bit I used the light gold shimmery shade in the Vintage Romance palette ‘Meet In Madrid’.

irish makeup blogWith a pencil brush I applied this under the rest of my eye and on the inner corner.

irish makeup bloggerbeautynook beauty blog

I finished off the eyes with some brown liner in the upper and lower waterline, some mascara to my lower lashes and a light shimmery brow highlight.

I had to try one 🙂 This is the Charlotte Tilbury Eyes To Mesmerise Cream Eyeshadow in ‘Bette’. I think there is six to choose from and I would have picked them all, but at €26 from Brown Thomas here, I went for the one I thought I would get the most use out of. And so here she is…Ms Bette, as in Bette Davis 🙂

Beauty BlogBette is kind of a burnt gold colour.

Charlotte TilburyCharlotte description of her Eyes to Mesmerise:

‘The clever cream-to-sheen colours form part of my quick and easy ‘Minute Makeup’ range because they’re just so simple to use. Add a wash of colour with your fingertip for a flattering finish for day, then amp things up by applying with my eye blender brush for high-impact, molten smoky lids. The revolutionary water-infused formula with added vitamin E soothes and hydrates the eye area and offers seamless application for super smooth results. It’s the ultimate fool-proof product that forms part of my One-Minute No-Mirror Makeup Revolution: minimum effort = maximum impact’.

I can only speak for Bette, although from swatching the others in Brown Thomas they seemed pretty similar. Bette has a mousse like texture. It is extremely pigmented and glides and blends on to the skin, with no effort at all.

Charlotte Tilbury Eyes To Mesmerise BetteThis swatch is from one light push on the product with my finger. It’s quite a wet formula. It does set on the lids but as the lovely bearded dude at the counter did warn me before I bought it, if you have even slightly oily lids you would have to set with a powder. As I do, I was expecting to have to do that. Obviously, that does take away from the colour slightly but it does enhance any colour you add on top which is lovely.

Charlotte Tilbury's Bette on my eyelids

Here it is on my lids with no primer underneath or shadow on top

Overall, myself and Bette are getting along like a house on fire. She is a lovely addition to my makeup collection, and I have been complimented on my makeup every time I’ve worn her 🙂
