Catrice Cosmetics

I picked up some bits not too long ago on a bit of a shopping spree from Catrice Cosmetics and I have been loving them and using them alot. I thought I would share some of them with you in case you are in the market for some afforable lovelies 🙂

First up is their All Matt Plus Shine Control Makeup.

catrice all matt plus 015 vanilla beige

I got the shade 015 Vanilla Beige which is a pretty good neutral match for my pink toned skin.

all matte plus 015It has a light coverage and is shiny when you first apply but dulls down as it dried into your skin.

catrice foundationThis is a good foundation, it lasts well (powdered) on my oily skin and doesn’t oxidise. It isn’t too drying or cakey and it blends really well. It is also buildable for us girls who like a more medium coverage.

Next up on my Catrice love fest is one of their Ultimate Shine Gel Colour Lipsticks.

catrice ultimate shine gel colour 080 russian violettecatrice ultimate shine gel colour 080 russian violetteThis is in the shade 080 Russian Violette. These are like a hybrid lipstick lipgloss. They are not sticky and are really pigmented. They feel balmy on the lips so good for days when your lips are not in tip top condition. Also I am in love with this colour.

catrice ultimate shine gel colour 080 russian violette swatch It’s a purpley pinky lipstick of loveliness and I have been picking it up so much over the past few weeks. It’s so easy to throw on and lasts really well.

My last two Catrice finds are two of their Liquid Metal Eyeshadows.

catrice liquid metal eyeshadows

I threw these into my basket because they looked cool in the pan, I have to be honest. They have a cool wavy effect to them and I couldn’t say no :p

liquid metal eyeshadow gold leaf meliquid metal eyeshadow gold leaf meThe first one is called 070 Gold Leaf Me and is a kind of pewter cool toned gold colour.

liquid metal eyeshadow gold leaf me swatchcatrice liquid metal eyeshadow 100 what do you seacatrice liquid metal eyeshadow 100 what do you seaThe second one is called 100 What Do You Sea? My description of this would be nearly a green toned blue, if this exists? It is blue but there’s an element of green in there too.

catrice liquid metal eyeshadow 100 what do you sea swatchThe name Liquid Metal, sums these shadows up quite well I think. They are opaque when built up but you can also just use them for a wash of colour on the lids too. I have used them wet aswell and it brings the metal element out in the colour even more. They are smooth and they blend too which is not always the case for cheaper shadows.

Catrice have really upped their game in the last couple of years. They have such a diverse range of products for all types of makeup users. Everything is reasonably priced, and they are constantly bringing out new collections and products to keep us wanting more. I know I do 🙂

I thought this week was the perfect week of the year to talk about a love affair I have been having…with a lipstick. It is coming up to Valentine’s Day after all.

If you are a makeup fan you know who Charlotte Tilbury is. I  had the privilege of meeting her and she is as cool in real life #fangirl 🙂

This is her K.I.S.S.I.N.G lippie in “Velvet Underground”.

Charlotte Tilbury Velvet Underground

The packaging bestowed on these lipsticks is beautiful, so I am just going to take a minute and say it’s so pretty and luxurious and rose gold…eeeek!!

Charlotte Tilbury K.I.S.S.I.N.G LipstickFallen From The Makeup Tree

It would want to be right? With the price tag of €30 (you can buy them here from Brown Thomas if you so desire). If you are the romantic type and are wanting something pretty for Valentine’s Day, get the other half over to the Charlotte Tilbury counter for a look, this would be the perfect Valentine’s shade 🙂

“Velvet Underground” is a blue based magenta colour.

Velvet UndergroundVelvet Underground SwatchCharlotte Tilbury Swatch

It is quite a stiff formula in the bullet, especially around these cold parts i.e. Ireland, so to apply it precisely may I suggest a lip brush or any small brush just to perfect the outline.

Lip Brushes

For a pale gal like myself this colour really wakes up my complexion. It is a colour that you can wear boldly and proudly or of course like any lipstick patted into the lips for a more demure look. It smells really nice, not really important I know but it is an added bonus 🙂

Charlotte Tilbury also claim that these lipsticks contain an anti oxidant that protect your lips from UV damage and pollution, another added bonus.

“Velvet Underground” is the only one I own right now from the brand (I have my eye on “Love Liberty”  which is one of the Matte Revolution lipsticks aswell), so I can only give my opinion on this shade. It is really pigmented, a little goes a long way, it lasts really well on the lips without drying them out or caking up. It has a satin finish, so there is a bit of a sheen to it, it looks lovely with a gloss layered over top too.

I really am in love with this. It is an investment I know, but if makeup is your thing or you are looking to invest in a special item, it really lives up to the hype.

What do you think, would you splurge? You can buy Charlotte Tilbury makeup from Brown Thomas in store or online here

Gem's January Faves 2015

January has been and gone, we are officially into 2015, where is the time going? The end of a month means monthly favourites in my world, and so I am here to divulge some of the things I have been loving and using throughout the month of January 2015.

I firstly have something I have already prattled on about here so I’ll keep it short.

Rimmel Nude Foundation

You can read the full review if you want my full opinions on Rimmel’s Lasting Finish Nude Foundation, and to see it on the skin. This has been the only foundation I have pretty much used in the month of January though. It is cheap, has good medium coverage, long lasting…and I like it! That pretty much sums it up 🙂

Up next I have one of my Christmas presents.

Black Leather Accurist Watch

Accurist Rose Gold and Black Leather

My Accurist rose gold and black leather watch. I have been wearing this nearly every day since I got it. I think it’s very classic but understated and seems to go with everything. It’s also light and comfortable. It is actually a man’s watch, but I like bigger watches so this appeals to me. I want one of these in every colour 🙂

I am a big believer in washing your face thoroughly before bed with a cleanser or a face wash whatever you use. I wear waterproof mascara and liner alot and these can be a pain and a bit messy to take off with a cloth or you hands so I like to use an oil based makeup remover just on my eyes to make washing my face then a little easier.

Botanics All Bright Eye Makeup Remover

This Botanics Soothing Eye Makeup Remover was on sale in Boots. I think it was less than €3, so picked it up to try. It does a really great job. I don’t even look when I am doing it. I just soak two cotton pads in it and gently rub my eyes with. It does the job really great. It’s also meant to condition your lashes which is a plus. If you are looking for an affordable paraben free range, give the Botanics in Boots a look.  I really like the face wash from this range too, I really recommend them.

I think I mentioned this in a favourites post gone by, but I am throwing it again because I have not been able to get enough of it this month.

Yonka Invigorating Dry Skin Toner

This is the Yonka Invigorating Dry Skin Toner, which is an aerosol toner. Do you like the Caudalie Beauty Elixir? Well then you’ll love this. It smells sooooo nice and earthy and it is really calming and hydrating on the skin. It contains lovely things like Lavender and Thyme (hence the smell) .It’s pricey but I need to buy a full sized bottle of it!

I have a couple of duo items up next.

Penneys Mittens Soap & Glory Whipped Clean

The first is the Soap & Glory Whipped Clean Shower Butter and then these funny little exfoliating mittens that I randomly picked up in good oul Penney’s. These two together for me are a match made in heaven. The wash is really emollient and moisturising on the skin and feels really luxurious. I’ve found using this with the exfoliating mittens really nice, as although I am getting rid of any dead skin cells with the abrasive gloves, the wash keeps the skin feeling nourished and looked after. The Whipped Cream smells of almonds which I am not a fan of, but I suck it up 🙂

My next duo are for the lips.

Rimmel Lip Liner Eastend Snob Charlotte Tilbury Bitch Perfect

This is Rimmel’s lip liner in Eastend Snob and on of the Charlotte Tilbury Lipstick Charms in Bitch Perfect. How pretty and tiny are these lipsticks? We both got the little trio of lippies for Christmas. Mine is mashed a bit, sorry. I did that after a few alcoholic beverages and didn’t twist the bullet back down properly.

I am not really a nude lip person very often. But just something about this duo made me feel comfortable. Perhaps because it’s more of a pinky nude, so I don’t feel completely washed out. I’m pale enough as it is 🙂 Eastend Snob is a great liner to have if you are looking to slightly over draw your lips or you just want to even out your lip line.

East End Snob Bitch Perfect

My last favourite for this month is the Fuchsia Pro Collection Palette.

Fuschia The Pro CollectionFuschia The Pro Collection

I have been reaching for this so much of late. It’s great that an Irish brand are doing these pans that you can put into a zpalette and customise the colours to suit yourself. I had never really used the Fuchsia brand until we were kindly gifted these at a blogger Christmas Party. This one was prefilled, I did not choose the colours, but the colours in it are lovely. There is something for everything and everyone from cool tones to warm, neutrals to brights and shimmery to matte. The colour pay off is really nice and they blend well too. They also come in an array of colours and finishes. I will be investing in more for sure.

There you have it. January summed up in beauty products. That’s what we are here for, right?

Thanks for reading my ramble.

Nima Brush Artistic Collection

Nima Brush by the lovely Niamh Martin. They are an irish based company creating gorgeous makeup brushes. I have known this brand and Niamh for quite a while. The company have really being going from strength to strength.

The Artistic Collection is the latest launch from Nima Brush. They say they are a “range of brushes designed for the professional artist in mind, using precisely shaped brush heads and the softest fibres, but which are also suitable for the everyday wearer with step by step instructions on how to use each brush”

The handle of the brushes are a lovely duck egg colour with a velvet, nearly rubber feel and a gold ferrule which I am in love with. The handles on these brushes can be difficult to keep clean due to the material they are made from so they need a good scrubbing with warm water and baby shampoo to get them clean.

There are 20 brushes in the collection. You can buy them in customisable sets or you can buy them individually. Each brush is named after supporting female figures in Niamh’s life. Prices range from €10-€22. You can shop this collection or any other collection from Nima Brush on www.nimabrush.com

I picked my favourites from the collection to talk about.

I  decided to pick the 3 brushes out of all the ones I own from the collection that I have been picking up religiously everyday since I have gotten them. They have quickly just become part of my routine.

Nima Brush The Artistic Collection (1)

First up is “Blaithin”

Blaithin Nima Brush The Artistic Collection“Blaithin” is a tapered brush, that I have been loving for contouring. The end of it picks up the product, gets it into the hollows of your face and then the bristles around the tip blend it in seamlessly. It is also so soft on the skin, so you don’t mind spending all of that time making sure your contour is blended 🙂 The “Blaithin” retails for €16.

BlaithinNima BrushI have been loving the eye brushes I have, but this one in particular has really become a favourite in my collection.

Nima Brush The Artistic Collection The Patricia

This brush is called “Patricia”. It is a duo fibred brush, and like “Blaithin” is tapered at the end.

Patricia The Artistic CollectionNima BrushThis is a smallish eye brush, and the domed head makes it great for diffusing your transitional colour in your  crease. It can also be used to distribute colour all over the lid, and I love it from blowing out colour on my lower lash line. It’s a soft brush but stiff enough that you don’t end up with shadow where you do not want it. It is multi functional, and I get alot of use out of it 🙂 The “Patricia” retails for €10.

My last choice from the Nima Artistic Collection is the “Grace”

Nima Brush The Artistic Collection The Grace

When I saw this brush I knew exactly what I wanted it for, under eye concealer! The “Grace” is a like a foundation brush in miniature form.

GraceGraceAgain I picked a tapered brush, this wasn’t on purpose I promise! This brush is perfect for getting around the contours of your eyes or your face in general and blends cream products beautifully. It is small but it is big enough to get the job done quickly and that is what you want in the morning. The “Grace” retails for €16.

So there you have some of my fave picks from the lovely Artistic range from Nima. They are fab and it is great to see an Irish run company doing so well.

Thanks,

Gemma

Can you believe Christmas is over? 2015 has come so quickly. I hope you all had a fantastic break and the start of your new year is going well.

Christmas was very good to me and I wanted to share with you some of the goodies we were lucky enough to receive as gifts. I love seeing what people got so we hope you don’t mind us getting in on the fun 🙂

The boyfriend did good this year (as he does every year).

First up I got this rose gold faced Accurist watch.

Accurist Rose Gold Watch

Black Leather Accurist Watch

I have wanted one of these for ages, ever since I saw Youtube’s Lily Pebbles rocking one, so I was very happy to open this on Christmas morning.

He also got my the coveted Hourglass Ambient Blush Palette.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush Palette

How beautiful is this? It is so pretty and pretty extravagant looking. The colours are very wearable and have a lovely glow to them. I love owning this palette 🙂

I of course had to get the Soap & Glory Next Big Thing set. I get this every year and love it. It contains all of the Soap & Glory items you will ever need for shower time.

Soap & Glory Next Big Thing

He got me the Benefit Cheeky Sweet Spot Palette, which was an absolute bargain, considering how expensive Benefit boxed blushes are.

Benefit Cheeky Sweet SpotBenefit Boxed Blushes

It contains 5 of their cult blushes as well as Hoola, a sample of Watts Up and a little brush. I love Benefit blushes so this is a very welcome addition to my makeup collection.

A new hair dryer was amongst the gifts on Christmas morning.

Babyliss Hair Dryer

I didn’t think I needed this, but it has 2100w and is so much stronger than the one I already have. I have a whole lot of hair so this will not go to waste.

Diptyque’s Mimosa Candle is on my Christmas and Birthday list every year, it’s my favourite scent, so I was very happy to receive a nice new one. Yum yum yum 🙂

Diptyque Mimosa Candle

Another gift I got from him was all from his own findings. A couple of years ago he surprised me with the Anna Sui Minnie Mouse Lipstick and Eye set, which I love so much I can’t bring myself to use it and I think this is going to end up the same way.

Anna Sui Lipstick M

How pretty is the packaging? The lipstick inside doesn’t disappoint either.

Anna SuiAnna Sui

We always do a present on Christmas Eve because we are children and cannot wait to exchange gifts, so this year my Christmas Eve pressie was the Charlotte Tilbury Mini Lipstick Charms.

Charlotte Tilbury Mini Lipstick CharmsCharlotte Tilbury Mini Lipsticks

These are such a cute gift for any makeup lover, as well as being lovely pigmented lipsticks.

Kris Kindle goes down in the boyfriends house at Christmas time. We make a list and then the person who gets you can pick what they want from the list up to €100. This year mr father in law (to be) got me and it did very well. He made the money go very far. A couple of the stand out things were.

The Urban Decay Vice 3 Palette.

Urban Decay Vice 3 PaletteUrban Decay Vice 3

The shades Brokedown, Sonic and Alchemy make me squeal with delight 🙂 Can’t wait to get properly stuck into this.

He also got me an Alex and Ani bangle.

Alex and Ani Bracelet

This is the Path of Life charmed bangle, which I think is quite fitting for me at the minute. These are a really lovely and reasonably priced gift with a lovely sentiment.

The Mammy got me a couple of lovely goodies as she always does including these cute pj’s from Marks & Spencer. I can’t wear these enough, they are so cozy.

marks & spencers pj's

And the Lush Merry Christmas Gift.

Lush Merry Christmas Gift

Is it bad that these are all nearly gone already?

I was such a lucky girl this year. My brother kindly gave me a very generous gift card for Brown Thomas and so I went in over the Christmas break and bought a couple of extra presents. #brat I know 🙂

I picked up Charlotte Tilbury’s eyelash curler.

Charlotte Tilbury eyelash curler

Adore that this is rose gold, it’s so pretty. I’m not too fond of it unfortunately though, I much prefer my Shu Uemura 🙁

The other thing I bought is one of my new favourite things for sure though. I think it deserves it’s own blogpost, so stay tuned for that.

Chanel Vitalumiere Loose Powder FoundationSo there you have it a dip into some of the wonderful gifts I was given for Christmas. It was a fantastic one surrounded by friends and family and too much chocolate…the diet starts now I swear 🙂

Happy New Year, hope 2015 is an amazing one for you!

So tell me, what did you get for Christmas? Go on tell, I love to have a nose.

Gemma.

Soooooo…I bought some stuff to make my mid week a little easier (any excuse). Want to see?

First up I hit H&M for some accessories, god I love their accessories! And they are so reasonably priced.

H&M earring and rings

I picked up some fab gold sparkly earrings, and some gold rings that you can wear together on one hand or on their own whichever you prefer. I love the chunky look so I plan on wearing them together.

Then I popped into Boots for some essentials.

First up for me was the Soap & Glory stand.

Soap & Glory Orangeasm

I can never be without the Soap & Glory Sugar Crush Body Wash range. It smells like an ice cream coke float and I love it! Boots were doing 3 for 2 on skincare so I picked up the tried and tested Butter Yourself Moisture Lotion. I have spoken about this before, you use it on wet skin and let it sink in before you dry, aswell as the newly released body wash Orangeasm. Cannot wait to give this a go!

Another essential was some face wipes. Now I don’t use face wipes every day, but they are so handy to have there if you have gotten in late and want to get your makeup off fast, or if you went heavy with the eye makeup and your cleanser or face wash needs some help.

IMG_3917

So I picked up the Botanics All Bright cleansing wipes. I have used and really liked the face wash from this range, so excited to see if the wipes are any good.

As I was walking by the Rimmel stand in Boots, I couldn’t help but notice a couple of new additions. So for research purposes of course I had to pick them up 🙂

I got the Rimmel Pop Art Top Coat polish from the Rita Ora range.

Rimmel Pop Art!Rimmel Rita Ora

I thought this looked so cute and fun for an accent nail with a corresponding colour.

I got the new Rimmel Provocalips lip colour too in the shade 200 “I’ll Call You”.

Rimmel ProvocalipsRimmel 200 I'll Call You

These are a dual ended product. The colour is on one end and then there is a “lock and shine” gloss on the other end to add on top.

IMG_3913I love this dusky rose shade. I think it’s perfect for Autumn.

Because I spent over 12 euro on Rimmel, I got the Lash Accelerator Endless Mascara for free.Lash Accelelerator EndlessRimmel Mascara

I have never tried it before, so excited to give this a go.

As I have no self control, I then popped along to The Cosmetics Outlet to see what bargains Paul had stocked on the shelves. Another Rimmel product was purchased!

Rimmel Moisture Renew 320Rimmel Funtime Fuschia

One of their tried and trusted Moisture Renew Lipsticks. I picked up the shade 320 Funtime Fuchsia.

Rimmel Swatch

I then picked up the L’Oreal Skin Perfection Advanced Correcting Serum…that’s a mouthful!

L'Oreal Skin perfection Advanced Correcting Serum

I have been wanting to try this for a while. Paul had it in stock so it had to be bought.

L'Oreal

This serum is supposed to help with the appearance of pores, something which I suffer from. I will give it a go for a while and report back.

Last but not least Paul was kind enough to give myself a set of his Madison Brushes to try.

IMG_3903

These are natural haired brushes that he developed himself and are exclusively sold in The Cosmetics Outlet.

Cosmetics Outlet

In the set you get:

  • A lip brush
  • Small shadow brush
  • Angle shadow brush
  • Eye shadow Brush
  • Stippling Brush
  • Foundation Brush
  • Powder Brush

The set also comes in a handy brush bag for easy transportation

Madison Brush Roll

So there you have it, another mid week haul to get your shopping juices flowing.

Thanks for reading. Be sure to let me know if you’ve bought anything nice recently 🙂
