I definitely need more Makeup Geek products in my life! But, I am really happy with everything I have bought so far. The quality in my humble opinion is really great, as is the price point. Although, shipping from America is a pain for us Irish. Beauty Bay now stock the brand (albeit a bit more expensively). But sure look, I won’t get into that now πŸ™‚

makeup geek favourites

I thought I would do a post of my most used eye products from the Makeup Geek brand. I love everything I have but these are five (yep for some reason five is my go to number for things like this :)) that I reach for a lot :).

I managed to whittle it down to two eyeshadow pigments and 3 single eyeshadows.

The first pigment is ‘Enchanted’.

This is just the most beautiful shimmery pinky purple colour. What a description I know! But it looks more pink or more purple depending on the light and if you use a base underneath it. I feel like this shade brings out the green in my hazel eyes which I really like. It packs a punch but isn’t too in your face or dramatic.

The second pigment is ‘Insomnia’.

This for me is like Mac ‘Club’ eyeshadow taken to the next level. This does actually come in eyeshadow form in the Manny Palette from Makeup Geek. It is the coolest green brown duo chrome pigment. You can just use this on your eyes and be good to go. Depending on how you blend it or what base you use, Insomnia looks either more green or more brown with an iridescent shine to it. It’s probably one of my all time favourite eye products…ever!

My three eyeshadow favourites came from my neutral Makeup Geek eyeshadow stash! I went with:

‘Peach Smoothie’ which is a matte light peach colour.

I think of this as like my eyeshadow eraser. I use it before I blend any colour in to the crease so they have something to blend into. I also use it after to diffuse the colour and make it more gradient.

‘Cocoa Bear’ is a warm rich matte, medium brown shade.

I use this shadow for everything. All over the lid, in the crease if I want to add some warmth. But, I particularly like adding some blown out under the lash line to add a bit of interest to a simple (or, not so simple look).

My last choice is the foiled eyeshadow ‘In The Spotlight’.

When I don’t know what I want to do with my eye makeup but I know I want to make an effort, this is my go to shade.

Foiled shadows are like a mixture between a cream and a powder and they have a metallic finish. ‘In The Spotlight’ is a shiny peachy coral-ly shade. Another great description Gemma πŸ™‚ This is just the prettiest all over the lid shade, or it works great as an inner corner highlight. Depending on how much shine you want you can use this with a wet or a dry brush. Or you can be super lazy and just use your finger to pat it on. It works great like that too.

So there you have it. My five most used Makeup Geek eye products. Honestly, I love them πŸ™‚

Myself and John are on a little break away in Wexford. We’re in Duncannon and honestly it’s one of the prettiest places I have ever been in my life. The scenery is breathtaking! One of the days we thought we would head out for a bit of lunch and a wander so I thought I would turn the camera on and take you through my Ten Minute Makeup Look.

ten minute makeup look irish beauty blog

I would describe this as quick, simple ten minute makeup look with a bit of added extra effort. I didn’t want it to take too long, but I still wanted to look put together.

The products I used for my ten minute makeup look are as follows:

The Hyalmide HA Blur Prismatic Blurring Surface Hydrator. You can read more about this on their website here.

L’Oreal Nude Magique Cushion Foundation. I have a full review of this here.

Nyx Micro Brow Pencil. Full review here.

Freedom Brow Powder Duo. I spoke more about this here. I also talk about the Collection concealer in this post too.

The Soap & Glory Archery 2 in 1 Setting Gel. I did a post on this here.

theBalm Put A Lid On It eyeshadow primer. There’s a full blog post on this here.

Makeup Revolution, Ultra Contour Palette. I have a review of this here.

Makeup Geek Foiled Shadow in ‘In The Spotlight” and their shadow in ‘Brown Sugar’. You can see up close swatches of these here.

Colorpop CrΓ¨me Gel Liner in ‘Stomper’. There’s swatches and more info on this here.

Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer. Click here if you want a full review on this.

Fairydrops Scandal Queen Waterproof Mascara. I have a full review and close ups of this in action here.

Mac Full Coverage Foundation. I have literally used this for years. it something I always repurchase. You can buy Mac from Brown Thomas.

Wet n Wild Dual Ended Contour Stick. I did a first impressions video not too long ago on this here.

L’Oreal Glam Bronze Cushion De Soleil. Full review here.

Ben Nye Cameo Powder. There’s a full review and more info on this here.

The Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Collection Face Palette is really new to me. I have swatches in this post here if it tickles your fancy πŸ™‚

And then finally the Barry M Matte Me Up Lip Crayon in number 3. I did a post about a couple of these a while back here.

There you have it, my ten minute makeup look from our little home away from home πŸ™‚

I am an avid online shopper. I do love going into shops and seeing products in the flesh, don’t get me wrong. However, living on our little island, we don’t always get the products we want in store, or we just don’t have the time to do it! So, here are some of my favourite online beauty shopping haunts that I like to frequent πŸ™‚

Of course, alot of our favourite beauty retailers give us the option to shop online too, as well as in store. Some of my favourites are Boots, Debenhams, Brown Thomas and Arnotts. And I love that with some of these you have the option to click and collect so you don’t have to pay shipping and then whatever you bought, is packed up and paid for, just waiting for you to pick it up in store. Superdrug is another one that does that too, although I know they only have stores here in Dublin. You can shop from them online too though.

My favourite Irish online store for beauty shopping has to be cloud10beauty!cloud10beauty beauty shoppingThey cover some of our amazing homegrown talent like Cocoa Brown, Waxperts and Blank Canvas Cosmetics. As well as some harder to get brands here like Pestle & Mortar and Alpha-H.They have you covered with blogger/vlogger brands like Zoella, Real Techniques, Colab, Tanya Burr and of course SOSU by Suzanne Jackson. There is something on Cloud10beauty for everyone, the shipping is super quick, it is free over €40, you get free gifts with purchase. They always have website deals on and very generous sales.

My next favourite online beauty shopping destination is Cult Beauty

beauty shopping cult beauty

The name really says it all! Cult Beauty stock a good chunk of the brands we all want a part of. And not just old stock, we can get new stock from American brands we covet! They stock the likes of Anastasia Beverley Hills, Aesop,Becca, Daniel Sander,Eve Lom, FAIRYDROPS (I didn’t know that actually, this post is really enabling my shopping habit :)), Huda Beauty, Jouer, Laura Gellar, OCC. I could go on, I really could. They have free worldwide shipping over Β£50, and again you can get free gift with purchases. They are also based in the UK so no worrying about custom charges and the likes.

Beauty Bay is another UK website that is jam packed full of American brands we want to get our hands on.

irish beauty blog

Products are a little pricey and shipping takes a while, but once you’re aware of that the beauty shopping is awesome! They stock the likes of Gerard Cosmetics, Natasha Denona, Anastasia, Cargo, Cover FX, Dose of Colour, Ellis Faas, and of course Makeup Geek!!!

Look Fantastic is another….fantastic beauty shopping hub πŸ™‚

irish beauty blogger

They offer free standard worldwide shipping, it can take a while, so you do have to be patient, but again they are a UK registered company so no duty to worry about. They sell the likes of Illamasqua, EX1, Benefit, Deborah Lippman, Dermalogica and Nudestix. What I particularly like about Look Fantastic is their range of hair care. They cover brands like Kerastase, Redken, Phillip Kingsley, Nioxin and Tigi to name a few. And, they don’t scrimp on the money off vouchers either!

Feel Unique is another website I am often found browsing.

top irish beauty blog

It is great for makeup and haircare, but it also carries an abundance of fragrance choices too, for both men and women. They cover the celeb fragrances as well as the likes of Marc Jacobs, Chanel, YSL and Stella McCartney. I rely on Feel Unique alot at Christmas time, it’s really handy for picking up gift sets.

For my last contribution in this post, I thought I would add in Asos.

top irish beauty blogger

Asos is a website I spend alot of time procrastinating on πŸ™‚ It’s well known for fashion, but it does carry a good amount of beauty choices too. It has brands like Barry M, Rimmel and Benefit. But, it also carries harder to get brands (for us) like Japonesque, Anna Sui, Cowshed and so much more. There’s free shipping from Asos over €25 and they offer free returns too which is really handy.

I think I’ll leave it there πŸ™‚ There’s other beauty corners of the internet I like to frequent, but I don’t want to bombard you. And these are all tried, tested and trusted websites that I’ve purchased from successfully on numerous occasions.
I hope you found this helpful and maybe discovered a new online beauty shopping haunt.
Thanks for reading.

I’m like a broken record, I know, but I have pretty oily skin and as a result of this makeup, as much as I love it, doesn’t particularly love me. It sinks into my skin, oxidizes and just doesn’t hang around too long. So, as a result, over the years, I’ve tried and tested lots of different ways to make it last longer on my visage. I’ve done a post about this in the past, but I’ve updated and added some different steps, so I thought I would put together all of my Long Lasting Makeup Tips in video form and demo them on my mug πŸ™‚

After Makeup

There is a lot of long lasting makeup steps in the video, I don’t expect anyone to do them all, unless of course you’re really oily like me. But if you struggle with your makeup slipping and sliding, or have a special occasion, some of them might help you a little. You can click on the video up above or go to my YouTube channel here to watch.

Long Lasting Makeup TipsJust in case something takes your fancy, I’ll link any reviews I have done in the past of the products I talk about in the video.

Waxperts Wonder Pads. Review here.

La Roche Posay Serozinc. Review here.

Vichy Normaderm Anti Blemish Care Moisturiser. Review here.

L’Oreal Infallible 24 Hour Matte Foundation. Review here.

Rimmel Lasting Finish Nude Foundation. Review here.

Nyx Micro Brow Pencil. Review here.

Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer. Review here.

L’Oreal Infallible Fixing Spray. Review here.

Makeup Revolution Ultra Contour Palette. Review here.

I really really hope you find something helpful within my waffling. These are by no means my personal long lasting makeup tips. I’ve just picked them up along the way on my makeup journey and tried and tested them on my skin.

As always, thanks for watching and if you have any other long lasting makeup tips to add to the pile, please do comment. I would love to try more πŸ™‚

This green smoky eye is a look I tend to wear alot myself. For some reason I just gravitate towards green eyeshadows πŸ™‚ I thought the run up to St Patrick’s day would be the perfect time to do a video on how I create it.

As with any makeup look, use the products you already have in your stash. You don’t need to go out buying anything (unless of course you want to πŸ™‚ ) Most of the eyeshadows I used for this St Patrick’s day appropriate green smoky eye are from Makeup Geek, which if you’ve been following me for a while, you know I’m a huge fan of. I also dipped into the Garden of Eden palette from Sleek Makeup, which is a gorgeous eyeshadow palette full of greens and complimenting colours.

I ended up using a warm toned brown in the crease, but you of course could use a cool toned brown or even a grey or a black, it’s fun to experiment πŸ™‚

Here’s my first ever Youtube video! It’s a speeded through Get Ready With Me. I love zoning out and watching these, and on the plus side it meant less talking for me πŸ™‚ It’s not perfect, but sure neither am I.

Thanks so much for watching and if you like it please be sure to subscribe here. That would make my day…my year in fact, can you tell this is a big step for me? πŸ™‚

There’s a list of all the products I used in the info box of the video too, so if you see something you like they’re all listed in order pretty much.

Let me know what you think and also what videos you like to watch yourself, I am going try create one a week on my channel, but I will also do an accompanying blogpost with any extra details and of course a bit of waffle πŸ™‚
