The Essence Longlasting Eye Pencil is a little bargain of a find. I picked these up randomly in Penneys when I was really just looking for new things to try.

I picked up three shades in the Essence Longlasting Eye Pencil range but they have a fair few colours to choose from, even a nude one now which is handy. You can see all the colours here on the Essence website. Like their lipliners I reviewed here on Beautynook not too long ago. I am sure I will end up with all the colours in my collection at some stage πŸ™‚

The shades I have are:

19 Hot Scorch.

The Essence Longlasting Eye Pencils are a retractable pencil in a plastic casing which I personally prefer over the standard pencil format. The product itself is really soft, so glides on smoothly onto the skin. The colour pay off (as you can see from the swatches) is pretty great too! The formula does dry so you get good longevity out of it, even on the waterline, although they do last longer on the skin.

I honestly think these are a fab find for makeup novices and addicts alike. If you are looking to experiment with colour, these are a great way to begin too. And the best part? Like the lip liners, the Essence Longlasting Eye Pencil will set you back just under 2 euro! Not a bad deal at all, right? As I said, I got mine in Penneys, but I am sure any of the chemists who stock Essence would have these if they update their stands regularly. If you see them, give them a swatch and let me know what you think πŸ™‚

As always, thanks for stopping by!

Here’s my first ever Youtube video! It’s a speeded through Get Ready With Me. I love zoning out and watching these, and on the plus side it meant less talking for me πŸ™‚ It’s not perfect, but sure neither am I.

Thanks so much for watching and if you like it please be sure to subscribe here. That would make my day…my year in fact, can you tell this is a big step for me? πŸ™‚

There’s a list of all the products I used in the info box of the video too, so if you see something you like they’re all listed in order pretty much.

Let me know what you think and also what videos you like to watch yourself, I am going try create one a week on my channel, but I will also do an accompanying blogpost with any extra details and of course a bit of waffle πŸ™‚

Coloured Eye Liner doesn’t have to be scary and it doesn’t necessarily have to be used just in the traditional sense. This is a look I do alot when I want to do something fun, but don’t want to faff about too much. It’s simple and packs a punch πŸ™‚

Here’s the mug with some foundation and brows done.

To begin with I took a taupe shadow and added some definition into the crease, you know the drill by now if you’ve read my blog before πŸ™‚

I want to keep the lid colour pretty simple but still look ‘done’ if that makes sense? Satin Taupe from Mac is a brilliant colour for this.

satin taupe mac cosmeticsI packed this all over the lid.

beauty blogger irelandTo blend it out and deepen up the crease I used a warm brown on a tapered brush in the crease.

I did a thin line of brown liner to the top lashes.

top irish beauty bloggerNot necessary but for a little definition, I used a couple of my beloved Penneys individual lashes on both eyes.

I added a little wash of Satin Taupe under my eye and some mascara.

makeup and beauty blogI used Makeup Geek’s Shimma Shimma in my inner corner.

I chose one of my all time favourites but anything you have that’s pigmented will work. You could even put a light liner on and then add some shadow of your choice over top.

This is Inglot’s Matte Amc Gel liner in 87, I’ll put a link to it here

inglot amc gel liner 87inglot gel liner irelandMine has certainly seen better days but a drop of Duraline (review here) brings it back to life.

I use a pencil to apply gel liner to my waterline. I find a brush too ticklish and uncomfortable, so dipping a liner pencil into the gel works for me, even if it’s not the same colour. You can always wipe it off after you use it πŸ™‚

This is one of my favourite looks to do and as you can see it’s so simple. I always get compliments too which is nice.

Here’s the finished look.

Lush treated us bloggers and the press to an up close look at what they have in store (literally ha) for Winter and Christmas 2015. As a big Lush fan, I was very excited to see so many new and well known products back for the festive season. They have gift sets galore to suit any tastes and budget, and of course most of the products can be bought individually too.

We were very kindly gifted the fabulous Lush Winter Wonderland Gift Set, and so I wanted to show you what is inside, in case it’s something you would want on your Christmas list.

Lush Winter Wonderland 2015There are some old faves and some newbies up for grabs in this pretty huge gift box.

lush bath bomb Snow Angel Bath Melt is in there. It contains cocoa butter and leaves your bath glittery.

beauty bloggerWe have Yog Nog Bath Bomb. This is a cinder toffee soak with spicy clove and ylang ylang.

beauty blogThe Ceridwen’s Cauldron Bath Melt looks really interesting. This plops into the bath as is and melts. It has sandalwood oil, oats and wildflower inside.

beauty blogger irelandThe Candy Mountain Bubble Bar has sparkles and fair trade vanilla to bubble up your bath with.

irish makeup and beauty blogThe Peeping Santa Bubble Bar looks funny right? This has shea butter and strawberry inside, so great for us with a sweet tooth.

irishbeautyblogThe Yoga Bath Bomb is great for relaxing with. It contains olibanum and ho wood.

irish beauty blogYou can reuse this cutie. This is The Magic Of Christmas Bubble Bar. It has clove and almond in it. You can just sweep it across the water a few times and then put it somewhere safe to use again.

lush christmas 2015I get a Holly Golightly Bubble Bar every year from Lush. I think it just screams Christmas, and it smells like it too πŸ™‚

irish blogOf course the Lush Winter Wonderland has a Frozen Bath Bomb this year. It contains grapefruit and Tunisian Neroli. Yum yum.

beauty blog beautynookThis is the Stardust Bath Bomb. It has vanilla and Rosewood in it.

irish beauty blog beautynookCinders is a lush classic. It smells like cinnamon.

top beauty blogI saw this Luxury Lush Pud Bath Bomb (mouthful)Β  in action when we were in Lush. It dissolves into the bath just how it looks in the bomb it’s really cool. It also contains lavender so good for a before bed time bath.

top irish beauty blogMy Father Christmas Bath Bomb got a bit bashed by its friends inside the box. He will turn your bath green though and smells like candy floss.

lifestyle blogI think bubble bars are where you get the most bang for your buck in Lush. You can just break pieces off and get as many uses out of them as you want. This is the Bar Humbug Bubble Bar. It contains Liquorice, not my favourite scent, but if you love DollyMix this one is for you πŸ™‚

irish beauty bloggerThe Lord of Misrule Bath bomb makes your bath wine coloured, so you could drink wine while you were having your bath and you wouldn’t even noticed if you spilled!

Lush Christmas 2015 (6)makeup and beauty blogMy So White Bath Bomb didn’t make it in one piece, but at least it means I can show you what it looks like inside. It contains bergamot and rose…yummy!

irish bbloggerGolden Wonder is my all time favourite bath bomb from Lush. It has lime oil in it, so it smells really zesty and when it melts away it leaves little stars in your bath!

irish beauty bloggerThe Butterbear Bath Bomb is great for dry skin, it has cocoa butter in it like the Snow Angel…I might actually use these together for an extra hydrating bath time!

bbloggerThe Comforter Bubble Bar is probably my favourite out of all the Lush bubble bars and is one I purchase all the time. It’s really sweet but not in a sickly way. It contains cassis and cypress oil.

beauty blog irelandThe Twilight Bath Bomb is the last on the list. As you would assume by the name and the look of this bath bomb, this is another good bath time bomb. It contains lavender and tonka and according to Lush makes your bath look like the night sky…we’ll see about that πŸ™‚

The Lush Winter Wonderland will cost you €117.50, it is one of the priciest gift sets instore. I think if you are wanting to buy a hardcore Lush fan (or yourself) a really special gift this is pretty perfect though.

Any of your Lush faves in here? Any you fancy trying? Let me know πŸ™‚

Barry M Matte Me Up Lip Crayons

I was in Boots last week swatching lip products like a good thing and I ended up getting a couple of the new Barry M Matte Me Up Lip Crayons. These are (as I am sure you can see) twist up lip colours…and they are matte!

On first swatch in store, I thought oh these are really soft and pigmented and also not really drying and I can concur after playing with them and wearing them that they are like this in ‘real life’ too.

I chose two shades.

The first one is number 4, original I know πŸ™‚

beauty nook

This is literally my favourite shade of pink to wear. Think of Mac’s Girl About Town but a little more muted and matte.

Number 4

Matte Me Up Number 4

I know I know my skin is different colours, I fake tanned my body not my face ha I probably should have slapped some makeup on to swatch…sure not to worry, you get the idea :p

This out of the two colours of the Barry M Matte Me Up’s I got is my favourite. It is a gorgeous blue toned pink. It goes on the lips really smoothly and lasts really well too.

The second shade I got is…number 1

Matte Me up Number 1This is a true peach shade.

swatch number 1

barry m matte me up lip crayon 1This is a more unforgiving shade on the lips, they need to be in tip top condition to pull it off. I also think it would be more suited to someone with sallow skin, it is still a gorgeous shade though.

The Barry M Matte Me Up Lip Crayons are gorgeous in my book. They are easy to apply, really buttery, comfortable on the lips and last very well too. I’m very happy I bought them and will be open to buying more the future I’m sure πŸ™‚

At this minute in time the Matte Me Up Lip Crayons are on special for €4.99 in Boots They will normally retail for €7.49 so if you like what you see, get them while they’re hot!

Gem's Spring Nails 2014

I am a nailpolishaholic. If you follow me on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram you will know I like to post obnoxious pictures of my painted nails on a regular basis…I do apologise πŸ™‚

So I trifled through my collection to talk about the nail polish colours that represent Spring in a nail polish bottle for me. By all means you can switch and change brands and shades, these are just what I own.I am a firm believer that if you have and use a good base coat and top coat, you can use any brand of coloured polish and it should last pretty well on your talons!

I have very recently downsized my collection in order to fit them onto myΒ  new acrylic wall rack. So I threw out all the polishes I was hoarding in boxes and only kept the ones I know I would actually use:

Nail Polish Acrylic Rack

So onto my picks for Spring:

My Spring Nail Polish Picks

Firstly I had to pick a hot pink. A hot pink is essential in Spring for me, it looks fab on your fingernails and your toenails and goes with everything, and helps accentuate a tan whether it be natural or from a bottle πŸ™‚

Nail Polish

I chose a BarryM colour. These polishes are so readily available in Boots and Superdrug, they are cheap and they have such a wide range of colours. I love them.

Next up I chose Peach. Peach is a colour that screams warmer weather to me. It’s the colour of icepops and sweets πŸ™‚ It’s a good colour to have for those, who do not want to go crazy with their nail colour as it can look quite subtle and clean on the nails. I chose another Barry M polish, shock horror, this was a cult buy for last summer within the blogosphere!

Spring Colours

Next I chose… another Barry M pastel tone! I’m sorry but they’re lovely πŸ™‚ I have a good cross section of brands in my collection but Barry M are really good and the pastels are lovely and creamy. Two coats and you’re good to go! So I chose a pastel lilac tone.

Spring Nails

I love this colour and lilac is very on trend at the minute. Again, if you are afraid of colour, even use something like this on your accent nail for a touch of something different.

Barry M 308

I have a sky blue shade chosen for my next spring nail polish. I think this sort of shade looks great on all skin tones and looks really interesting on long and short nails alike. It can really jazz up a look without going too over board.

Spring Nail Colours

This is an Essie shade, I love Essie polish from the point of view that their colour selection is amazing and the polishes themselves are easy to apply and do not need much working with. However, I will say they don’t last aswell as some other brands of polishes and they cost a small fortune here in Ireland, if other brands do the same shade for cheaper I say get it!

Essie Polish

Essie Mint Candy Apple

Lastly, I chose a shade that is not for the faint hearted. This shade of nearly apple green sums up Spring in a colour to me. If you’re someone like me who loves bright colours on their nails, rock the hell out of it, if not this would be a great accent colour on the ring finger or whichever finger you choose to be brave with:

Spring polish

This particular polish is a Revlon polish. Revlon do a great formula of polishes, I have a few of them and they are some of my firm favourites. I can’t wait to give their new perfumed range a go πŸ™‚

So there you have it, my spring nail wardrobe. I am rarely without nail polish, I don’t feel put together without it. Whether it is to compliment your look with a similar hue to your clothes or makeup or for it to contrast it, it all looks good in my book πŸ™‚

Thanks letting me ramble on,

Gemma
