Barry M Liquid Chrome Highlighters

When I saw the Barry M Liquid Chrome Highlighters being advertised on their social media pages, I got very excited.

I have been wanting to try a full on metal liquid highlighter for ages now. Ever since I swatched the Cover FX Custom Enhancer Drops when they were first released here in Space NK. At the time, they were all sold out, so I couldn’t even splurge on one. We can get a hold of them now but at around 35 quid, they are pretty pricey.

So I’ve been biding my time waiting to try the Barry M Liquid Chrome Highlighters. They were initially just available through the Barry M website. I didn’t splurge there because it’s nearly a tenner just to ship them to Ireland. Now, finally they’re available on the Superdrug website. You can get them in store throughout the UK I believe, but not here, yet anyway. Superdrug do free shipping to Ireland over a tener, which is bloody fantastic!

I picked up two of the five shades available. I chose the ones that I actually thought I would use day to day.

Precious Pearl, which is a more white based liquid. more suited to pale gals like myself. In powder form this would remind me of the Shimmering Skin Perfector in Pearl by Becca Cosmetics. (Review here).

So white based like Pearl, but this has a pink iridescent shimmer to it.

Chrome At First Sight is light rose gold shade. It blends out to a light golden shade with a hue of pink.

The formula is really light weight and as you would expect from a liquid highlighter, quite runny. They leave a shimmery shine to the skin. Not full on glittery, but there is shimmery flecks running through them. For me, application is best with a duo fiber brush or beauty blender. They do leave a bit of an oily residue on the skin. It dies down somewhat as it sinks in though.

Overall, I think the Barry M offering for the price and accessibility is really good. I don’t think they pack as much punch as their more expensive predecessors. But as a ‘drugstore’ alternative, they’re really nice.

Maybelline Tattoo Brow Demo

I first saw the new Maybelline Tattoo Brow on the awesome Sharon Farrell’s YouTube Channel here last month.

She demoed it and it just really intrigued me. It’s one of those things that could be a complete gimmick or could be bloody genius!

So what is the Maybelline Tattoo Brow? It’s basically a tinted gel that you apply to your brows, let it set and then peel it off. It leaves behind a tint on the skin, that means in theory you don’t have to fill in your brows for up to three days!

Now if you have awesome brows, of course this might not be your cup of tea, you lucky duck. For me, my brows are a pain in the bum! Now don’t get me wrong they are looking alot better than they have done. I was invited into Beauty Board a few weeks ago and got their Ecuri Stem Cell Treatment. It’s really helped with the hair growth and their looking so much more…brow like. They definitely need some grooming though, but I digress, I am here to talk about the Maybelline Tattoo Brow, soz!

The price of it really miffed me for a Maybelline product. I bought it for €16.99 in Boots. It’s on the website here if you want to check it out. You get 4.6 grams of product and it here it comes in three shades. I got Medium Brown.

I thought it would be best to demo it in video form, as it’s something you have to see in action. So click on the video above or go directly to my YouTube channel here to check out it out. I know people are worried about it pulling precious hairs out and all that scary stuff, so I’m willing to take the hit for for the sake of beauty lovers everywhere 🙂 .

You apply it in your desired shape. Let it dry for at least 20 minutes. For the longer tint (up to three days) it says leave it for 2 hours. Then, simply peel off from inner to outer brow.

I wrote this blog post before I used it, so I guess you have to watch the video to see how I get on and if I survived. 🙂 Also I was heading out afterwards so fingers crossed I don’t feck it up!

Benefit The Porefessional Pore Minimizing Makeup

I jumped in at the deep end with the new Benefit The Porefessional Pore Minimizing Makeup.

This very cute package arrived the other day from Benefit with all four products from the range.

I thought I would do a complete first impressions video using everything including the new Benefit The Porefessional Pore Minimizing Makeup.

I’ve used the Benefit The Porefessional Primer many times before over the years and do really like it. So, my first impressions are of the other three products that are newer in the range. The Matte Rescue, Agent Zero Shine and the Pore Minimizing Makeup that was the whole point of the press release 🙂

Obviously you don’t have to buy all four products, they are pretty pricey! But if you do, I go through and use all four step by step. And also, I don’t read the instructions on the makeup and do a really bad blogger job of showing it in action 🙂 I think I make a pretty decent comeback in the end though so don’t judge me on that, k?

Here’s a before and after of the first three products minus powder and obviously eyes and brows done aswell.

Then here is my skin with all four products applied with the added makeup accoutrements 🙂

Kat Von D Makeup First Impressions

I finally got myself to the new Kat Von D Makeup counter in Debenhams! It’s been a long time coming. Well actually it’s only been up and running for a couple of weeks, but for me it seems like an age 🙂 A few of you asked on social media when I shared what I bought for a video on the products. So, I thought I would do a first impressions using all of the goodies.

Not gonna lie, I want more or less everything that we have on offer here at the Kat Von D makeup stand, but I had to be logical. My budget won’t stretch to that! I did want to try the Lock It Foundation. I was only delighted that I even colour matched myself to the right colour. But of course that was the one shade that was out of stock. Devastating!

I picked up the Shade & Light Eye Contour Palette.

The Lock It Concealer in the shade L5 Neutral.

And then the Lock It Brightening Powder in Petal.

I already had a mini of her Tattoo Liquid liner in ‘Trooper’.

With also a mini of the Studded Lipstick in ‘Lolita’.

All of these are of course available now in store from Debenhams in Henry Street, Dublin. They also sell Kat Von D makeup online here.

Blank Canvas Master Series Palette One

The Blank Canvas Master Series Palette One was not on my radar really, I must admit. I just never really felt the need to buy it.

Now don’t get me wrong, I have lots of Blank Canvas brushes in my collection so it’s nothing about the brand, the need just never really hit me. I have seen so many people talking about how lovely it is since it’s release though and when I saw they were having a sale, I bit the bullet and took one for the blog 🙂

So, just to change things up format style, I thought I would give you my first impressions on the Blank Canvas Master Series Palette One. You still get to see swatches in this post, but I also have an accompanying video showing you the palette in action here.

It comes with 12 eyeshadow shades. One shimmer and the rest are matte. I would describe the shadows overall as a warm. You also get a really nice dual ended brush with it. It has the E40, a flat brush and the E41 a soft domed blending brush. Both are really soft and are the only brushes I use in the video (other than an eyeliner brush).

You can of course see how they apply on the eyelids in the video, but I did do swatches as well so you can see them up close:

I am overall super impressed with the Blank Canvas Master Series Palette One. The shades are soft blendable and easy to work with. I got it on sale unfortunately, but Blank Canvas have discount codes up all the time if you like what you see. You can get it directly from their website here for €34.99. May I add their shipping is really good too. My order came within two days which is very impressive!

Milani Conceal & Perfect Foundation

When I went shopping on Beauty Bay, I bought my first ever Milani products. I spoke about the one of them here, and now I am going to give my first impressions and a demo of the Milani Conceal & Perfect Foundation.

I do disclaim it in the video, but the shade I have, 01 Creamy Vanilla is definitely not the right colour match for me which is a bit annoying, as it’s the lightest shade. I did throw on some tan in hopes that it doesn’t look too odd on my skin.

The Milani Conceal & Perfect Foundation claims to be:

Medium to full coverage.
Lightweight, oil-free formula.
Long wearing, water resistant and sweat proof.

That is a hefty amount of claims! I thought my oily skin would give a good indication if any of this rings true.

I mention this in the video too, but I really like the packaging. It’s a 30ml glass bottle and it has a pump too which is always appreciated.

Not really a pro or a con because it depends on what you like personally, but it smells nicely. Kind of clean but does dissipate when the product is applied.

The texture is thick and it gives a good medium coverage to the skin.

Milani Conceal & Perfect Foundation review

You can see more in the video here, but I wore the foundation for about seven hours and then checked back in. I actually really liked how it performed. Here is my skin before, after and then seven hours later.

I would say I have a particularly oily t zone, so the shine doesn’t bother me majorly after seven hours wear. Overall, my first impressions are good. I like the finish, the coverage and how it wears. If they did a lighter colour, I would definitely stock up on another bottle!
