Huda Beauty ireland

This is my first venture into the Huda Beauty makeup world. When I saw the Obsessions Palettes being released, I thought it was a good time to pop my cherry as the price point is so good. There are four colour ways to choose from, Smoky, Electric, Warm Browns. And the one I chose, the Huda Beauty Mauve Obsessions.

beauty blog

I toyed with the Warm Browns one, but I thought I would try something a little bit different and went with the mauve shades. The quantity is different for all four palettes, but they all come with a mixture of mattes and shimmers.

The Huda Beauty Mauve Obsessions Palette comes with three foiled shades and six matte shades totally nine colours altogether. The majority of the shades lean more on the warm side, but there is a couple of cooler tones in there too, which for me is great. I like to have options. It’s a dinky little palette. The outside of it is made of cardboard and then the actually palette inlay is plastic. It also has a decent sized mirror considering how small it is. And to be fair, the pan size is pretty decent too also.Huda Beauty Obsessions Palette

Obviously, the palettes have just been released, so I’m not here to give you an in depth review. Iย  just wanted to get swatches and pictures up as soon as possible so if you’ve been curious, you have a point of reference. For the mauve offering at least ๐Ÿ™‚

My first impressions of the Huda Beauty Mauve Obsessions Palette is pretty bloody good. The matte shades are nicely pigmented and creamy. And the foiled shades are almost wet to the touch. They apply best with your finger or a damp brush, as most foiled shadows do. They remind me of the Makeup Geek foiled eyeshadows which is high praise. You can see some of them swatched here. They pack a really pretty punch. I am very happy to own it. It’s not something I often get to say with owning as much makeup as I do. I don’t think I have anything like it in my collection. Now I need more Huda Beauty products in my life ๐Ÿ™‚ You can find the Obsessions Palettes in store and online from Brown Thomas now. I got mine from Cult Beautyย here.

Did you give in and get any or all of them? What do you think? Keep an eye on my social media, I will definitely be creating some looks with it in the coming weeks.

I wouldn’t be Irish and the occasion would not be marked if I didn’t at least attempt a St Patrick’s Day Makeup Look.

St Patrick's Day Makeup

I am a big fan of green eyeshadow, so for me this is something I would wear anytime honestly. But we will call it St Patrick’s Day makeup because it fits the bill too ๐Ÿ™‚ As always I am not a makeup artist, so this is just something really simple and easy to achieve, but hopefully fun at the same time too!

Green eyeshadow makeup look

I did a St Patrick’s Day makeup look last year, when I first set up my YouTube channel here. This is full on green. I thought this year, I would make it a little more subtle, but still festive at the same time. Think of it like your own makeup, that you are comfortable with, just with a hint of Paddy thrown in ๐Ÿ™‚

St Patrick's Day Makeup

As always, you can watch the video by clicking on it above, or directly on my Youtube channel here.

I used a mixture of the Urban Decay Naked Ultimate Basics palette which I have all the details on here. I used some Makeup Geek shadows, which you can buy online here. And, of course some Mac shadows that you can buy from Brown Thomas online here. The Kiko cream eyeshadow stick is directly from Kiko here.

Of course I use and name an abundance of other products. If you have any questions about any of them, just let me know in the comments below. You know I love to talk makeup any time ๐Ÿ™‚

As always, thanks for taking the time to click in. Have a brilliant St Patrick’s Day whatever you get up too. I think my own this year will be pretty low key, but I am very much looking forward to it. There is always such a lovely atmosphere ๐Ÿ™‚

The Cocoa Brown Ice Goddess Shimmering Dry Body Oil is the third installment in the shimmering body oil family.

Cocoa Brown Ice Goddess Shimmering Dry Body Oil

The other two offerings which I am sure you are familiar with are Golden Goddess shimmering loveliness. There’s a yellow gold one and a rose gold one to choose from. This is the first one with a more icy glow ๐Ÿ™‚

Cocoa Brown Ice Goddess Shimmering Dry Body OilCocoa Brown Tan

The Cocoa Brown Ice Goddess comes in a trio with the other two. It will hopefully be available in it’s own right this year.

I was lucky enough to receive this from Cocoa Brown as a little festive treat so mine is personalised, which makes it even more special.

Cocoa Brown

It comes in a 30 ml glass bottle and has the same distinctive Tahitian Gardenia fragrance that all of the Cocoa Brown products have.

The Ice Goddess has become my personal favourite out of the three oil choices. It has more of a pearl toned shimmer to it so is more flattering on my paler pink toned skin tone. I need a decent tan to rock the other two.

You just give it a shake to mix the shimmer and oil together and then apply it wherever you want some extra glow. You can even use it on your cheekbones as highlighter. The shimmer also disguises mild imperfections and makes the skin feel nice and hydrated.

As it’s a dry oil it doesn’t feel sticky once it dries down on the skin. And you can choose the amount of glow you get by how much you use and how much you work it into the skin.

The Cocoa Brown Ice Goddess Shimmering Dry Body Oil is available from Penneys around the country as well as selected pharmacies. You can also pick up the collection online from Cloud10beauty here for โ‚ฌ14.95. The collection includes 30ml bottles of all three of the oils.

Have you tried any of them? What’s your favourite?

This will be my first attempt at reviewing fragrance here on Beautynook. I have always shied away from it, because I don’t think my way of writing is eloquent enough. But, I adore fragrances. I remember everything by smell, so I thought it was time I stepped out of my blogging comfort zone and just did it. Here are my thoughts on the Jo Malone Basil & Neroli Cologne ๐Ÿ™‚

Jo Malone Basil & Neroli

I have had a few Jo Malone fragrances in my life. My favourite so far is probably their Wood Sage & Sea Salt. The fragrance doesn’t linger on me unfortunately, but it smells incredible. I was lucky enough to be gifted the Basil & Neroli very kindly by The Loop a while back now, so it wasn’t a scent I decided upon myself.

Jo Malone Basil & Neroli

And actually I am one of the few people in the world who doesn’t enjoy the scent of the Tom Ford Neroli Portofino, so I am so surprised by how much I am enjoying owning this cologne.

Jo Malone Cologne

According to the Jo Malone website here, Basil & Neroli’s heart note is Neroli which comes from the blossoms of the bitter orange tree, hence the citrus zing you get from it. The base note is white musk, which obviously provides the muskiness and then the top note is Basil which plays in with the citrus, while also giving a peppery element to it too.

irish beauty blog

Fragrance smell different on everyone, it depends on your pH balance. On me, the Jo Malone Basil & Neroli dies down to a sweet zesty scent with a hint of musk. It’s a scent I think I would equate more with the colder months. I wear it more as a daytime scent personally and I find it lingers really well on my skin without being over powering.

It’s a unisex cologne which I can totally get on board with. I think the mixture of sweet and musk can work perfectly for both men and women. Although of course, it is completely up to you what fragrance you wear ๐Ÿ™‚

You can pick it up in different sizes from The Loop directly if you’re traveling or you can do click and collect here. It’s obviously a little cheaper to shop duty free (โ‚ฌ87.20). Of course can get it in Brown Thomas on counter, or from the website here. The 100ml will set you back โ‚ฌ109. It will also be a permanent fixture from them too!

irish beauty blogger

Jo Malone Basil & Neroli launched this past September. It is the first cologne from the brand in 20 years that has basil as the top note. Lime Basil & Mandarin was the last! I thought that was a good tit bit of information to add in, to end this post ๐Ÿ™‚

Have you tried it?

It’s Christmas, time to pull out the glitter and throw all the makeup on your face ๐Ÿ™‚ Here is my version of a party makeup look using all affordable products. Even most of the tools are affordable too.

Irish beauty blogger beautynook

I went simple with a gold and brown eye with some gold glitter and lashes. I wanted to create a party makeup that I would actually wear myself. As I say in the video though, 2017 will hopefully be the year, I get out of my comfort zone a bit video wise and be a little braver with my makeup.

I did a post similar to this last here year for my first Christmas in Beautynook world. It’s a festive red lip for under a fiver. I still love and use both of products I used, these are just alternatives for your 2016 Festive Red Lipstick look ๐Ÿ™‚

festive red lipstick

I think a decent lip liner is as important as the lipstick you choose when rocking a red lip. You can by all means go for a more soft approach and that’s beautiful too. But, when you’re going full out bright and Christmas-sy red, I think a crisp lip line is important. And you don’t want any bleeding, I mean lipstick bleeding but of course we don’t want any bleeding at all ๐Ÿ™‚

festive red lipstick

For this year’s festive red lipstick lip liner, I went with the Rimmel Exaggerate in ‘Red Diva’.

irish beauty blog

I am a big fan of the Rimmel Exaggerate lip liners. They are super soft and easy to apply. And they now have an angled twist up nib which I find really handy for outlining and correcting my lip line. ‘Red Diva’ is the perfect classic red colour and actually works really nicely on it’s own as well.

This costs โ‚ฌ5.49 and you can get it from the Boots website here.

The lipstick I chose is a new release for 2016. It’s one of the new Lip VIP’s from Sleek Makeup. It is called ‘Walk Of Fame’.

sleek ireland

These are a semi matte formula lipstick. They are really creamy, pigmented and very comfortable to wear.

I just think both of these products together are a really lovely and affordable festive red lipstick combination. The Sleek Lip Vip’s are available from Boots too for โ‚ฌ7.49 here.

Matte lips are everywhere at the minute so I thought I would go old school with more of a creamy textured combo. Layering the products means they are still long lasting but they won’t dry out your lips as much.

It is such a clichรฉ I know, but I just love a red lip during Christmas time ๐Ÿ™‚
