I am a big fan of the Soap & Glory Archery Brow Filling Pencil & Brush. I’ve bought a few over the years. I ran out of my current one and went into Boots to stock up. For some reason I’ve never done a post on it, but you can see it on the Boots website here if you’re interested πŸ™‚ Instead of going with my old reliable I picked up it’s chunkier friend, the Soap & Glory Archery 2 in 1 Brow, which is a sculpting crayon and setting gel.

I think Boots only stock two shades of this, in Ireland anyways, which is not ideal! You can get it in Blonde Ambition and the darker one which I have here Brown & Out.

The pencil itself is flat with an angled edge, it nearly has a triangle shape to in when you look at it head on.

It’s a hard waxy pencil, which I personally like in an eyebrow pencil,as you have more control over the product and are less likely to over do it. It’s a pigmented pencil and applies easily onto the skin. On first glance, the colour looks like a good neutral shade, however it does apply a little warm. I’m fine with that personally as my brows (and hair) have a got a bit of red warmth.

The pencil is quite thick though and as you use it, it does wear down and mine has crumbled a couple of times, although I feel like this happens with most retractable pencils, so I don’t really hold that against the product. You just have to be careful about the amount you twist up when you’re using it.

Because the pencil is on the thicker side, it is hard to get a defined line with it. If you are someone who is not too blessed in the eyebrow hair department, I don’t think the Soap & Glory Archery 2 in 1 Brow would necessarily be for you. I am kind of in between, I do have brows but they don’t grow naturally on point, so I can get away with using it somewhat, I do have to be careful though! I generally add a bit of brow powder over any pencil I might use, just to help the setting process and fill in any gaps I might miss. I have used the pencil and setting gel on their own a few times though and they lasted quite well!

You sacrifice the spooley end like on the Brow Filling Pencil & Brush, for a setting gel.

It is a clear setting gel and does a really great job at getting your brows into formation (bit of a nod to Beyonce there πŸ™‚ ), without making them hard or crispy…nobody likes a crispy eyebrow!

Overall, I like the Soap & Glory Archery 2 in 1 Brow. I have to admit though I like the Brow Filling Pencil & Brush more. You just have more control with it! If you have fabulous bushy brows and just want to fill in the gaps and clean them up a bit, the 2 in 1 brow works really well. I, personally just need a bit more definition in my life πŸ™‚

The Soap & Glory Archert 2 in 1 Brow is available from Boots in store and online here and it will set you back €13.50.

Inglot Gel Brow Liner

You know, the first ever blog post I wrote was about the Inglot AMC Gel Liner in black 77, still a staple in my makeup today, but the blogpost here I suppose was a little bit more rough around the edges πŸ™‚

I am here today talking about my newest Inglot purchase. Their new AMC Brow Gel Liner.

Inglot Gel Brow Liner Review

I picked up the shade number 17 and I think it’s a pretty good match for my medium/dark brows. They come in an array of colours and the girls will gladly match you up to the one that suits your colouring the best.

The pot itself is absolutely tiny (2 grams to be exact), but I had it on good authority from Sinead of The Beautiful Truth that a little product goes a long way and she wasn’t kidding.

This stuff is ridiculously pigmented. I bought the Anastasia Dipbrow when it was first released here, so I have used a gel for my brows before. I still have the Anastasia one, but it has dried up so is more difficult to use. I think I like the Inglot version of it better anyhow.

Here’s my brows with no product.

I start off by combing my brows with a spooley to get any foundation off them.

Irish Beauty Blog Beautynook

It goes on super easy, so much so you have to be very aware of how much is on your brush, be sure to take the access off in the lid before you apply.

I use the Inglot 31T angled brush. I apply it to the tail of my brows first as that’s where I want the most product I use the brush in flicking motions on the brow to try to (kinda) mimic hairs rather than just putting down a complete block of colour.

irishbeautyblog

Then, whatever is left on the brush I apply it to the front of my brow again flicking it into the hairs and trying to just fill in the gaps and make my brows look more groomed. I have a good amount of brow, they just don’t grow how I want them too. And sometimes I get a bit too over zealous with the tweezers aswell…it’s a problem :p

Then I comb through again with a spooley to take away any excess gel.

The Inglot AMC Brow Gel Liner stays put once it’s applied. My brows get pretty oily throughout the day so, usually if I use something like a pencil I’ll set it with a powder aswell just to lock in the colour for as long as I can. I find the Inglot gel liner lasts really on me. I do use a brow gel on top, but that’s more to keep the brows I already have in place rather then to help set the product. This one here is the Essence Make Me Brow which I love and have a review of here.

Here’s one brow finished. You can see the difference right? πŸ™‚

Then two brows completed.

I really like the Inglot Brow Gel Liner. It’s pigmented, it goes on smoothly, it’s easy to use and it lasts. You can use it sparingly for more natural brows, or go full on with it for more bushy caterpillars, whatever your preference πŸ™‚

It will set you back €16 and it will honestly last you an age!

Beautynook Beauty blog Haul

I went and did a bit of spontaneous shopping yesterday…it’s always the best kind isn’t it? I bought a few bits myself and then the other half kindly bought me a couple of early birthday presents, which was very nice of him πŸ™‚ I love having a nose through people’s shopping bags so I thought you might like to have a look through mine.

So first up I went into Boots and literally spent an hour looking through the makeup aisles. I love having time to do that, just going up and down swatching and deciding.

I have seen a few people talking about the Seventeen Phwoarr concealer so I decided to pick that up.

Phwoarr Paint Seventeen

Phwoarr Paint FairThis is apparently a hard core under eye concealer. It feels thick in consistency, but I am hoping it blends out making it similar to the Bobbi Brown one…we shall see.

Seventeen was on buy one get one half price. So after much deliberation. I also picked up their Stay Time Foundation.

Seventeen Stay Time Foundation

The shade range is a bit crap, but Porcelain seemed to be the closest to my NC20 skin. It has SPF 25 which is great for the day time and it claims to be full coverage too as well as lasting all day.

I hit the Barry M stand next. My last review here on Beautynook was all about the Barry M Matte Me Up Lip Crayons, you can read it here Because I liked the two I got then I chose another one to add to my collection.

Barry M Matte Me Up 3

Matte Me Up number 3

I got the shade number 3. It’s a lovely pinky brown neutral shade, that I will get alot of wear out of.

I also grabbed another one of their waterproof eyeliners, which I have a few of already and really like.

Barry M Bold Purple

Barry M Bold Purple EyelinerThis is in the colour Bold Purple and has glitter flecks going through it…I’m a sucker for a purple liner.

Collection had their Work The Colour Eyebrow Kit on special for €3.99 which I thought was a bargain so I threw that into my basket to try aswell.

Collection Work the color eyebrow kit

collection irish beauty blogIt comes with three powder shades, a little double ended brush and a clear brow gel aswell! If this is any good I will be shouting it from the rooftops!

While I was in Boots eyeing up the makeup, I did grab a couple of everyday essentials too.

Botanics Shampoo conditioner

The Botanics range is taking the beauty world by storm at the minute. Their Radiance Balm which I reviewed here not too long ago has reached cult status, so when I saw they were doing shampoo and conditioner I had to give them a go. I got the Instantly Volumising ones but there was a couple of different types to choose from. Excited to give these a try.

I also got some Mitchum deodorants, which I have never used before.

Mitchum Deodrant BeautynookNot the most exciting of purchases but like mascara I am always on never ending quest for the perfect deodorant. I love the Sure Maximum Protection, but at over 7 euro a pop it’s not always the most purse friendly, so lets give these a go πŸ™‚

I took a quick detour into H&M and thought I would include these shorts into this haul because they’re cute and they were only €10!!!

H&M shortsThey have them in lots of different prints, and they are very flattering and comfortable!

As I am turning 30 next week (the horror) the boyfriend told me to pick a couple of bits while we were out to ease me into the transition of another decade slowly. So I just chose two things to ease him into the financial transition of someone close to you having a big birthday ha!

I got the cult phenomenon that is Charlotte Tilbury’s Lip Cheat Lip Pencil in Pillow Talk.

beauty blog pillow talk

Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat Pillow TalkRimmel do a very good dupe for this pencil in Eastend Snob which I’ve owned many times. The one that I have now broke though so I thought I would give the posh one a try. This is a great liner for when you want to over draw your lips slightly to give an extra little pout. I’m excited to play with it πŸ™‚

He also bought me something very random and not like me at all usually.

Nike TheasThese are the Nike Air Max Theas. Runners, trainers, sneakers whatever you call them have been making a comeback in the fashion world and I am jumping on board the bandwagon because they’re bloody comfy! I had planned on getting the all white Theas which are much more respectable, but the bright orange ones just spoke to me and I wasn’t forking out for them so I took the risk…why not! They will definitely be a love/hate thing I’m sure though.

I also bought some toothbrushes too on this shopping trip but I didn’t think you would be bothered seeing them aswell πŸ™‚

As always thank you so much for reading, it makes me so happy. And if you’ve been shopping recently let me know what you bought. I love to have a nose.

On a little Boots flurry…we all have them now and again done we? πŸ™‚ I picked up some brow offerings from Sleek Makeup.

Let me introduce you to, The Sleek Eyebrow Stylist and the Brow Perfector.

Sleek Makeup Brow Artist Brow Perfector

It was 3 for 2 on makeup in Boots so I did pick up a nail polish too, but that’s not what you came here to read about πŸ™‚

I’ll talk about the Eyebrow Stylist firstly, as this is the one you would use first in your brow routine. The packaging is on point. Very similar to it’s more expensive counterparts from Hourglass or Burberry. It’s sleek…get it Sleek?! (sorry).

It has a spooley on one end and then a wax slanted crayon on the other.

Sleek Brow Artist

I have a motto now, don’t buy a eyebrow pencil without a brush or a spooley at the end, it just makes life easier!

The pencil itself is soft in texture and it glides on without much faffing about, the slanted nib is quite wide though so in my opinion the Eyebrow Stylist is more for just filling in the body of your brows rather than any precision work. It’s great for someone who already has a great shape to theirs (lucky you) and just needs to tidy up any gaps or make you brow a tad longer. As the pencil is soft, it is easy to rub away, but it does set with a gel over the top. As I am an oily sucker, I tend to add a bit of powder on top, when I have time to just for added assurance. The colour I chose Medium 717 is a good medium brown, but it does have some red to it so be wary of that. This suits me as I have red undertones in my hair and brows anyways so it doesn’t look peculiar. There is colour choices though so I wouldn’t let that deter you.

Overall for a waxy ‘drug store’ brow pencil the Sleek Eyebrow Stylist is a good choice. I have used the Hourglass pencil in the past and I never got along with it. I definitely like the Sleek version better and at €6.99 it’s less than a third of the price.

Onto the Sleek Brow Perfector.

Sleek Brow Perfector

This is basically a coloured brow gel, that you can use to define and help keep your brows in place over product or you can just use it alone to add a bit of colour and definition.

I picked up the colour Light Brown 041. I didn’t want my brows getting any darker after using the Brow Perfector so I picked it up in a colour that just slightly lighter than mine.

The little nifty spooley that the gel is applied with really loads up with product so I would advise you to give it a bit of a wipe before use…I found that out the hard way because the gel clings to any hair it is in contact with. It is a very wet formula too so easy to smudge…again found that out the hard way. It does set my brows and adds some subtle colour and texture, great! But I found that throughout the day the product can start to flake and even clump together, not so great.

In conclusion, I am not a huge fan of the Sleek Brow Perfector. I have used better more affordable brow gels from the likes of Wet n Wild and Catrice. It will set you back €5.99 but won’t be a product I will be rushing to buy again. However, I have just been gifted the clear version of the brow gel so I will jumping straight into that now and hoping is fares better.

Onto the demonstration πŸ™‚ I have applied both of them for you to see them in action. My brows are not my crowning glory…I picked the best one out of the two to show…we all have one we like better don’t we?
