Eylure Fleur De Force Brow Define

I picked up the Eylure X Fleur De Force Brow Define completely on a whim. I had run out of my micro brow pencils, and went into Boots to pick up my old reliable Nyx one. (Review here).

Eylure Fleur De Force Brow Define

But then I spotted the Eylure one hanging with all of the lashes. And one thing in particular intrigued me. Rather than having a spoolie on one end of the pencil like most do. This is a dual ended pencil. I don’t miss the spoolie, as I generally use a separate one anyways. But this could be a deal breaker for a lot of people, I know.

Eylure Fleur De Force Brow Define

It only comes in three colour ways light, medium and dark. But within one pencil you get two different shades of that colour. I picked up the medium one, and it works really well for me.

You get a darker side for extra defining. I use this more at the tail of my brow where I need the most help. And also underneath my brows to give them more definition and shape.

Then, I use the lighter shade through the body of them and through the front.

I have to say I am really loving the Eylure X Fleur De Force Brow Define. The pencils aren’t too soft, so they are great for manipulating the shape you want. I love a micro brow pencil in general for this. I feel like they just give you more control and my brows need alot of help in the shape department.

I find the formula pigmented, but, not too pigmented. I feel like you can work the pigment with the pressure you apply, if that makes sense? The pencil itself, for me, hasn’t been flaky or chalky at all. In fact, I think I like the Eylure offering more than the Nyx one! That’s a bold statement right there 🙂

Overall, I think it’s safe to say I’m a fan! The Eylure X Fleur De Force Brow Define will set you back €14.99 from the Boots website here.

I first saw the new Maybelline Tattoo Brow on the awesome Sharon Farrell’s YouTube Channel here last month.

Maybelline Tattoo Brow

She demoed it and it just really intrigued me. It’s one of those things that could be a complete gimmick or could be bloody genius!

Maybelline Tattoo Brow Tutorial

So what is the Maybelline Tattoo Brow? It’s basically a tinted gel that you apply to your brows, let it set and then peel it off. It leaves behind a tint on the skin, that means in theory you don’t have to fill in your brows for up to three days!

Now if you have awesome brows, of course this might not be your cup of tea, you lucky duck. For me, my brows are a pain in the bum! Now don’t get me wrong they are looking alot better than they have done. I was invited into Beauty Board a few weeks ago and got their Ecuri Stem Cell Treatment. It’s really helped with the hair growth and their looking so much more…brow like. They definitely need some grooming though, but I digress, I am here to talk about the Maybelline Tattoo Brow, soz!

The price of it really miffed me for a Maybelline product. I bought it for €16.99 in Boots. It’s on the website here if you want to check it out. You get 4.6 grams of product and it here it comes in three shades. I got Medium Brown.

I thought it would be best to demo it in video form, as it’s something you have to see in action. So click on the video above or go directly to my YouTube channel here to check out it out.  I know people are worried about it pulling precious hairs out and all that scary stuff, so I’m willing to take the hit for for the sake of beauty lovers everywhere 🙂 .

You apply it in your desired shape. Let it dry for at least 20 minutes. For the longer tint (up to three days) it says leave it for 2 hours. Then, simply peel off from inner to outer brow.

I wrote this blog post before I used it, so I guess you have to watch the video to see how I get on and if I survived. 🙂 Also I was heading out afterwards so fingers crossed I don’t feck it up!

I’ve had the Rimmel Brow Shake Filling Powder in my possession a while now. Actually, I’ve been calling it the Brow This Way Soft Powder, which is what is written on the packaging. But, after googling it to find a Boots link, I couldn’t find anything by that name.

Rimmel Brow Shake Filling Powder

Turns out they call it the Rimmel Brow Shake Filling Powder everywhere! Anyhow, I digress 🙂 This is a new (ish) brow powder from Rimmel.

Rimmel Brown Shake

It comes in a little bottle, with it’s own applicator inside. I picked up the shade 002 Medium Brown, which is a pretty ok match for my brows. It does come in four shades though ranging from black to blonde.

It reminds me very much of a powder eye liner. It has the same type of flat, but rounded applicator on the lid.

Rimmel Brow This WayRimmel Irelandirish beauty blog

The premise is you shake up the powder product onto the applicator while the packaging is still closed and then it is loaded up to fill your brows in with.

top irish beauty blog

It has a shaker ball within the lid, which I find a bit odd. If it was going to help keep the powder separated, surely it should be in the container itself? Perhaps I have the complete wrong end of the stick about how it works and if I do, I apologise 🙂

The powder itself packs alot of punch which is great. The medium shade has a greyish undertone too which I always like as well. It seems to adhere to the skin well and lasts too.

For me, I find the packaging and the applicator or the Rimmel Brow Shake doesn’t really work. If you have fabulous full brows (like Cara in the promo ads), I think this would work quite well for you. You can just fill in any gaps lightly really quickly with it and comb through to take away any excess with a spooley and, you’d be good to go. For my struggling brows, the sponge applicator is just too big and rounded. It picks up and applies too much product. I need more precision and have more control over my application.

beauty blogger

I find the sponge can drop alot of the powder too on the way from the bottle to your face, which can be a tad messy.

It works ok on my ‘better brow’, which I am showing here. On my right brow, it’s a bit of a disaster!

Overall, I like the powder within. Just for me, the packaging and execution doesn’t really work. You can find the Rimmel Brow Shake Filling Powder in Boots in store on online for €7.99 here. Have you tried it?

My eyebrow routine changes from time to time. It depends on how my actual eyebrows are behaving and whether I went crazy with the tweezers. It also depends on what brow products are working for me too.

My Brow Routine

I have a bit of a funny relationship with my tweezers. I can get completely carried away with them and pluck away hairs I should have never have touched. It also took me a long time to figure out that getting rid of a few hairs at the base of my brows on the inside would work wonders for the shape. And then, of course I did the thing that a lot of people do, plucked the hell of out of the front part of my brows! They were ridiculous for so long, but sure look they are only brows at the end of the day 🙂 I do have brows, the hair on them is quite long and wiry though. And because I plucked them so much in the past, some patches just won’t grow back. If I am just popping to the shops or heading to the gym, I’ll just fill in the tail of them a little with a pencil and be good to go. But if I am doing makeup, this is my brow routine at the moment.

I am still trying to grow them somewhat and they are definitely far from perfect, but I am at a stage now where I don’t completely hate my brows. On makeup wearing days, I use three products to fill them in and keep them in place.

irish beauty blogger

The NYX Micro Brow Pencil which I love and have a full review of here. The shade I use is ‘Ash Brown’. My hair has an auburn tinge to it and so do my brows, so I feel the more ashy brown shade makes them a bit more neutral.

The Freedom Duo Brow Powder is another product I spoke more about in a previous post here. I have this in the shade ‘Soft Brown’. I usually use the darker shade on the tail of my brows and the lighter shade through the rest.

What I use to set my brows is a pretty new product to me. The Too Faced Brow Quickie. This is in the shade ‘Universal Brunette’ This contains fibres so it works well for bulking up the brows, adds some colour and fixes them in place. It is also waterproof. I am still testing it out so don’t have a definitive opinion on it yet. It is available on the Debenhams website here.

If you want to see me put these products into action, you can click on the video above or go directly to my Youtube channel here. I thought it would be easier to do this in video form 🙂

I had seen the Nyx Micro Brow Pencil when Nyx first released them all over social media. I was still using my Soap & Glory Archery pencil and was happy with it and although we now have Nyx stands in Ireland, we rarely get the new releases in store, so I couldn’t see it in the flesh. Then, I saw Sinead from The Beautiful Truth raving about it and had fomo, so I ended up picking it up.

Nyx Micro Brow Pencil

And may I add, I am so glad that I did.

Nyx Cosmetics IrelandI’ve done the Anastasia Brow Wiz in the past. It’s a great pencil, but the damn thing just kept breaking on me. I think I lost probably half of the pencil to the floor. They’re not cheap, so that wasn’t ideal. I then discovered the Soap & Glory Archery Pencil, a very similar looking pencil. I love it, but it only comes in three shades.

The Nyx Micro Brow Pencil is super similar to both of these.

Nyx Micro Brow PencilOne one end is a spooley which is always appreciated.

irish beauty blogThen, the other end contains the retractable brow pencil.

irish beauty bloggerThe pencil itself has a really fine nib.

I like my brow pencil to have a bit of hardness to it, so you can draw onto the skin without it crumbling and so you have control over what you are doing.

I have the shade ‘Ash Brown’. I did some googling and looked at some swatches beforehand and I got lucky, it works really well for me. I would deem it a neutral brown so no red or warmness to it.

beauty blogger irelandbeauty blog irelandYou can buy Nyx online from Boots here and they have 8 shades to choose from. I ordered my Nyx Micro Brow Pencil from Asos here. They have 7 shades and I got free shipping because I ordered a few other things aswell.

The Nyx Micro Pencil definitely ticks all of them boxes for me. I have been using this for a good solid month now and the pencil has yet to break, it’s pigmented and easy to apply. It works really well for days where you just want to do the bare minimum to your brows or when you really want to beef them up.

So here it is in action:

My Brow With No Product

I Comb Through With The Spooley Before Applicationirish makeup and beauty blog

irish makeup and beauty blogI always hold my brow pencil with a loose grip and quite far back to get a lighter application.

top blog ireland

My brows are quite frankly a pain in the arse. I try in vein for a little symmetry and I rarely get it. I find with the Nyx Micro Brow Pencil, it’s a little easier to achieve some sort of brow shape that doesn’t make me want to cry. That alone is worth a tenner in my book 🙂

The formula does set, but you get a little play time beforehand. For some reason I get super oily around my brow area so I would usually then set the pencil with powder which I still do most of them time. But I have used the Nyx Micro Brow Pencil on it’s own to test it out throughout the day and it lasted really well on me. No smudging or oxidizing.

I think it’s safe to say I’m a big fan and now that we are getting our own Boots Nyx stand in Liffey Valley (opening the 4th of August apparently), hopefully we’ll be able to buy in store very soon too. Wohoo!!

Essence are releasing another limited edition collection this time developed with four beauty bloggers/vloggers. The collection is aptly names Bloggers Beauty Secrets and contains 4 palettes (with a matching) nail polish made in collaboration with these lovely ladies.

I got my hands on one of the Blogger Beauty Secrets Palettes before their release in June. They’ll be only on stands until then until July.

This is the Essence Bloggers Beauty Secrets Shape & Shadows Eye Contouring Palette.

Blogger's Beauty Secrets Essence

irish makeup and beauty blog

This was made in collaboration with Mary from Strikeapose.co.uk According to Essence ‘Mary prefers a combination of trendy eye makeup styles and wow brows-so the shapes & shadows palette perfectly fits the bill. The eye contouring palette brings the contouring trend to the eyes and offers eyeshadow, eyebrow powder, highlighter as well as brow wax, which can be used as a basis for eyebrow powder or for keeping the desired shape in place. The Palette contains an applicator for applying powder or combing the brows. The nail polish in a trendy mud shade with a matte rubber finish compliments the look’.

A long description I know, but since I’ve yet to use the palette (until I swatch it right now for this post) I like to add in the brand’s description to just show you what they expect us to get from it 🙂

So in Gemma terms you get five eyeshadows in the palette, with obviously the matte ones doubling up as brow powders which is pretty cool! The shades in the pan look like really good everyday neutral shades. The eyeshadows are encased in a sturdy cardboard magnetic closing palette with a pretty decent mirror on the lid. All the palettes in the collection are like this.

Onto the swatching.

There is also a Prime & Fix Wax that Essence say you can use to set your brows and as an eyeshadow base which is a novel idea.

makeup and beauty blog ireland

You also get a mini dual ended eyebrow brush and spooley which is a really nice addition I think.

makeup and beauty blogger ireland

It’s pretty decent quality too and not too small, so you would actually get use out of it.

The complimenting nail polish for this palette looks a bit like this:
