I was in looking for new releases in Boots recently and these caught my eye. They are the Maybelline Color Drama Intense Lip Paints.

Maybelline Color Drama Intense Lip Paints

The packaging reminded me of the lip paints Sleek had out a few years ago which I loved. Or like the Too Faced Melted lipsticks which I never tried but I know people had mixed feelings about them. Again, like the L’Orèal True Match Highlight which I spoke about last week here. The Maybelline Color Drama Intense Lip Paints are something I can’t get much information about online. The States are calling them Color Jolts and have had them for a while now. If you do want to see some extra info or swatches. But, I thought I would throw my Irish two cents in, just in case too 🙂

We have five shades to choose from in the range. I picked up two of them to try because they were on buy one get on half off.

They have an angled sponge tipped applicator and the product comes out of the middle. Feels nice to apply with, but it will get a bit messy after a few uses.

I went with 110 ‘Never Bare’ which is a nude pale pink colour. They also have a brown nude in the collection.

This one is 120 ‘Fight Me Fuchsia’. I chose this because for some reason this type of hot pink always draws me in. I don’t know why 🙂

Here they are swatched side by side on my arm to give you an idea of the difference and the opaqueness of the colour.

The Maybelline Color Drama Intense Lip Paints are to me a creamy pigmented gloss. They apply nicely and don’t feel sticky or uncomfortable on the lips. They also smell like watermelon which I quite like. But, if you are not into strong scents, that could be a deal breaker for you. As they are a gloss they do move. But, the pigment does stain, so when the gloss fades, you do have some residual colour left over.

The Maybelline Color Drama Intense Lip Paints are in Boots stores at the moment but haven’t popped up on the Irish website just yet. They are priced at €7.49. You can check out the other selection of colours on the UK website here though.

What do you think?

This is the last product that was in my mini Boots Maybelline splurge! They were on 3 for 2 after all 🙂 This is the Maybelline The Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara in the new waterproof formula….try saying that fast!

Maybelline The Falsies Push up Drama MascaraMaybelline The Falsies Push up Drama MascaraWhen it comes to mascara, I think most of the time you know off the bat if you like it or not, so I’ve kept the Maybelline The Falsies Push Up Drama stashed since I got it and thought I would try it for the first time in this post, just to change things up a little, hope that’s ok.

Maybelline say: ‘Dare to get the Push Up Effect. Bold, thick volume, gravity defying lift, now with waterproof protection. Introducing Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara. Will you dare to get the Push Up Effect? Our 1st Push-Up brush with Cup-Shaped bristles boosts and thickens lashes. The formula Instantly plumps & volumises the look of lashes, with Styling Wax to keep them lifted. Intense black colour for a dramatic, sultry look.Result: A luscious pair of plumped up, full, thick lashes that last all day and night!’

So, let’s have a look 🙂

On first look, the Maybelline The Falsies Push Up Drama has quite a wet formula. The spooley is large, with small plastic bristles.

As my lashes are super straight, I did curl them just a little.

Here’s the difference after a couple of coats.

top irish beauty bloggerAs the formula is really wet and the brush is large, I did have issues with it getting on my eyelids, I wanted to get as much mascara on my lashes as possible, so it’s probably inevitable really.

maybelline mascara waterproofThe Maybelline The Falsies Push Up Drama in waterproof definitely gives length and volume and does help with curl. You can see the difference in the before and after below.

I used it on my bottom lashes aswell, although the larger wand does make it a little trickier. However, it lasted well and there was no smudging or flaking. It does clump somewhat, so if that’s something you can’t stand, don’t pick this up! I don’t mind it because it adds volume to the lashes.

Overall, I think Maybelline The Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara in waterproof is a decent mascara. As with most of the makeup advertising campaigns, I think they’re pulling our leg somewhat with their claims, but I think that’s where us bloggers come in and show you how they work on real people 🙂

You can pick up Maybelline The Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara in waterproof from Boots in store and online here now. It costs €11.99.
