Guess what’s back, back again? You got that right, it’s favourites time 🙂 This time we’re delving into my August favourites for 2018. Can you believe we’ve gotten this far? As I’m writing this, the sun is belting in on me, so it’s not time to complain about the weather….yet!
My August favourites, are a pretty mixed, but logical bag, I think. I cover everything from body care, skincare, haircare, makeup, with even a hint of fashion.
I ramble a lot as always, so I apologise in advance. But sure if you’ve been around these parts before, you know I don’t really think things out. I just go with the flow and hope for the best. Literally how I live my life everyday 🙂
I’ll list everything in the order that I talk about them, and link what I can. But please do click on the video.
Obvs can’t link this t-shirt, but as you can see from my face. I. Am. Obsessed!
My other fashion fave is my new Nike Air Force 1s bought from the kids department from JD Sports.
I can’t find a link as of yet for the Essence Prime + Studio Mattifying + Pore Minimizing Primer with black clay. That is definitely a mouthful. This Autumn\Winter Collection was meant to be in store from the end of August though.
My last favourite I have a whole blogpost and video on here. This is just one of the shades that I’ve been particularly gravitating towards from the new theBalm Balk Jour Creamy Lip Stains.
And that is it for my August Favourites! Let me know what you think, and as always thanks for tuning in 🙂
It’s officially September! I am getting in right on time this month 🙂 Start of a new month means hopefully a fresh start, and of course time for favourites in blogger land. You can click on the video above to hear me waffle on about my August favourites or watch here.
My August favourites are all beauty related. It was a bit of a shit month personally, but beauty wise, it was pretty awesome 🙂
I was definitly a slave to Urban Decay through August. They have has some epic releases though so I couldn’t help and jump on board.
I have a post about the Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette here, so I won’t ramble on about it too much. This has all the deets. And, I did a makeup look with it here, so I got you covered if you want to see it being put to the test.
Since doing those posts though I did add to my Heat collection with the 24/7 Glide On Eye Liner in Torch (which I keep calling Scorch, duh). You can get it from the Debenhams website here.
I have been also digging the Naked Skin, The Illumizer Beauty Pressed Powder. This is on the Debenhams website here. My lovely blogging buddy Sue from (itscherrysue) presented me this in the pub at the start of August. How very kind of her.
My other August favourites consist of the Tarte Shape Tape Concealer (review here), this was another lovely gift. The Benefit Brow Tones brow gel, this stuff is really interesting. Again, it’s on the Debenhams website here.
Then, we have the Dr Hauschka Cleansing Milk. It’s on the Nourish website here. The Dove Nourishing Care & Oil Body Wash. Literally just bought this from Boots here because it was on sale, but I really like it 🙂
And then last but not least the new Clarins Double Serum. I have a full review of this here if you want to check it out.
There we have my all beauty related August Favourites. Have you any stand out products from the month?
I haven’t spoke about some current budget beauty faves as a collective in a while. If you read my blog alot, you know I am big fan of budget makeup, as well as high end. I like to mix it up 🙂
I have five budget friendly beauty favourites here, that I have been reaching for alot when I am putting a face on!
First up is a dual ended brush from Blank Canvas. This particular combo is just brilliant for day to day eyeshadow application.
On one end is the E25, a rounded blending brush. The other end is the E26. I would compare this to the Mac 217, so it’s a flatter blending brush.
It is so handy to have both brushes to work back and forth with in one. I picked this up at the beauty show last year. It is on the Blank Canvas website here for €11.99.
My second pick is the L.O.V Heartful Healthy Glow Blush in ‘Seductive Flamingo’.
This is a fairly new brand to Ireland. I got this in a press pack a while ago with some other products. It has been the one out of them all that stuck around in my everyday makeup drawer. The packaging feels really nice and it is a super pretty peachy pink shade with a golden shimmer running through it. It is soft and blendable too.
L.O.V are made by Cosnova which also manufacture Essence and Catrice. They don’t have an Irish website as of yet. You can find out more about the brand and it’s retailers on their Facebook page here. The blush costs €7.95.
My third pick is something I only did a post about last week, so I won’t harp on about it too much. It’s the Catrice Liquid Gel Cushion Eye Liner.
I just wanted to add it in in case someone reading this didn’t get to read that post, as I really think it’s worth checking out. It is a black liquid liner in cushion form and I am really enjoying being about to use my own brush with a liquid liner.
I am not the best with applying liner, so anything I find that makes it a bit easier, I will shout about 🙂 The full review of this is here.
The Colourpop Scultping Stix in ‘Dove’ has very much become my everyday contouring product.
The grey toned brown is literally the perfect colour for my skin tone.
It twists up so you don’t have to pare it. It is also really narrow, so you can just draw a line and blend! It also blends really well too. It costs $5 from the website here, so really affordable. Colourpop do ship to Ireland, but it is quite expensive. I usually wait until they have a deal on and keep my order under the 25 dollars tax threshold, so the tax man doesn’t take any more money off me.
My last budget beauty favourite of the moment is the Rimmel lasting Finish Concealer.
I bought this because Rimmel were doing a 2 for €7 deal in Boots and I was in a hurry to choose another product. I wasn’t really expecting anything from it.
It is quite a thick concealer, so although it says you can, I don’t use it under my eyes. I love it for everything else though! It covers blemishes, redness and fills in pores really well too. The formula blends nicely into the skin and it lasts great on me, once powdered.
I do not change up my face concealer products very often, so as dramatic as it sounds this is a bit of a find for me. I have been using the Mac Full Coverage Foundation as concealer for literally years now. It’s been my holy grail. The Rimmel Lasting Finish is definitely giving it a run for it’s money though. And at €7.99 is more than a third cheaper! It’s on the Boots website here.
There you have five budget beauty faves that have been making it onto my face over the past couple of months. Have you been using any budget friendly products that you would recommend?

*****SOME PRODUCTS MENTIONED ARE PRESS SAMPLES*****
I’m off on a little breakaway for the Christmas period 🙂 Obviously being a beauty junkie, the products I bring, are quite important to me. This post is going to cover all of the skincare with the added daily bits and pieces I will use. Basically everything other than makeup, I will cover all that in another post soon 🙂
First up the skincare and body essentials.
Deodorant:
I prefer a cream deodorant. And I think cream and roll ons travel more safely too.
Toothpaste and toothbrush:
I have a mini of one of my favourite toothpastes, the Beverly Hills Perfect White, that is actually black because it contains charcoal. I bloody loves this toothpaste and I have a matching toothbrush because I’m fancy that comes with a head cover on it which is so handy.
Bodywash:
I have a mini Wild Argan Oil Shower Gel from The Body Shop. God I love minis, don’t you?
I’m bringing three body creams…extremely excessive I know, but they all have different uses.
I have a mini Atoderm moisturiser from Bioderma. I got this in a Bioderma Christmas skincare set that I reviewed here not too long ago. I’ll keep this for using anywhere that gets really dry.
I’m going to bring one of the Nivea In Shower Body Moisturisers with me too, for everyday use.
This is the new one, that’s apparently for ‘firming’. It has little menthol massage beads in it though, so I think it will be good for the hotter weather. (we’re going to Lanzarote, so hoping it will be warmer than Ireland :).
The third moisturiser is a gradual daily bronzer from The Tan.
I do not get a sun tan, I’m freckly and pale, so this will come in handy to keep me looking somewhat alive. I really like this one, it dries quickly and doesn’t make you stink too much.
As I am a paley, I am going to bring an instant tan too.
My favourite at the minute which I have a review and demo of here is the shimmer version of Cocoa Brown’s new Instant Tan Bronzing Gel.
It’s such a handy tan and is water resistant. This will get alot of use.
I bought some fancy disposable razors because it’s Christmas and they were half off in Boots 😉
Boring and a pain but necessary if the pins are going to be on display.
Sun protection will be really important too.
It will be hopefully in the 20’s in Spain, so I’m going to bring P20 SPF in Factor 30. This is water resistant for up to 10 hours and it soaks in well so it doesn’t add to the clammy feeling…I really hate feeling clammy 🙂
For face SPF I’m bringing the Bioderma BB Cream.
I’ve never used this before so I am hoping it doesn’t melt off my face. It contains SPF 30 and is anti redness so will hopefully camouflage my red cheeks if I over heat.
To wash my face, I am bringing the Ultra Brightening Cleanser from Neostrata.
I’ve only used this a couple of times, but so far I like it, and I thought bringing it with me would let me give it a try properly.
I have a mini eye makeup remover from Thalgo.
This is an oily solution which is my favourite for eye makeup remover. I always use waterproof mascara so it’s a necessity.
For pre cleanser, I’m bringing a mini of the holy grail Bioderma Micellar Water.
Perfect travel companion 🙂
I have no night time eye cream to bring I’ll have to buy one in the airport but for daily use, The Body Shop Drops of Youth eye gel is coming.
I’ve been using this for a while now and really like it.
To tone I have a mini of one of my faves the Neostrata Oily Skin Solution.
If you suffer with spots and have oily skin like me, this is such a brilliant product.
Again, because I’m high maintenance I am bring another toner. This will double as a facial mist and makeup setting spray too though. This is the La Roche Posay Serozinc.
I have a full review of this bad boy here if you want a more indepth description of it. It has become a skincare staple for me.
For night cream, I am bringing this cute mini Oils Of Life Facial Oil from The Body Shop.
Skincare is covered I think (I hope).
There’s much less going on in my haircare regime.
I’m trying out the L’Oreal Pro Fiber Revive shampoo and conditioner.
I have a mini Moroccan Oil.
This stuff is great for nourishing the hair and great for dry ends so comes in very handy in the hotter weather.
For the evening to jazz up my hair a bit, I’m bringing my favourite texturising spray from Charles Worthington.
If you are looking for a cheaper alternative to the Oribe cult spray, give this a go. It’s great for root lift if you’re like me and you don’t like back combing your hair.
A bit of hairspray is a must for me.
I have a mini (so many minis I know) of this L’Oreal soft hairspray. My frizzy bits will thank me 🙂
And by golly I think that’s it! Too much? Probably. I was a scout for my whole childhood though and our motto was always be prepared 🙂
Body wash? Yep we’ve all got to use it. Sometimes I feel like investing money into it and splashing out and sometimes I want a reasonably priced pick that I know I can rely on. For me, Dove is this pick. I was sent this new Dove Deeply Nourishing Body Wash, but I had actually done a basics shop in Boots a few days before and picked up a bottle myself!
I love the soapy “clean” smell of it…if that makes sense? 🙂
It has a thick consistency, so you can use it just with your hands and create a nice lather or with a sponge or a flannel, what ever your poison.
I tend to use it on my hands when I am washing as normal. A little goes a long way and it feels really nice and silky on the skin. I use it to shave aswell. I am not really a shaving gel lover, and I find the Dove Deeply Nourishing Body Wash is a great alternative. And because it is so reasonably priced, I don’t feel like I’m wasting the product either.
Once or maybe even twice a week, I like to exfoliate my skin. Again, I can use the Dove Body Wash for that too.
I can sometimes find gritty body scrubs a bit too harsh. Using the body wash, which feels lovely and nourishing, I apply it with this exfoliating gloves. You can pick them up in loads of different places. I get mine in Penney’s. I love this combo, because I am in control of the scrubbing, not the product and The Dove Deeply Nourishing Body Wash lathers up nicely and makes my skin feel nice and soft afterwards.
Overall, The Dove Deeply Nourishing Body Wash is a winner in my book. I have always loved the Dove range of body wash products. My skin doesn’t feel dry or dehydrated after using them. The Nourishing Body Wash is particularly good for this. At the minute it is €1.74 (half price) in Boots . Cannot argue with that really 🙂
